Costantino (7/5): Good location, comfortable room, with small annoyances - The location is very convenient, even though it’s in an alley and the cab will not be able to leave you right in front. Room decor is nice, even though the bathroom “door” kind of ruins it. If anyone is in the hall doing anything, you will hear it. The bathroom “door” is a glass door with a leaf stencil of doubtful taste.. if you go there at night, turning the light on will bother your partner. No other kind of insulation.. so yeah just put a real door? Staff at the front desk seems pretty uninterested in helping you or even greeting you, but maybe is just an Ha Noi thing since a lot of people don’t do anything to hide the fact that you are not welcome there.

rossbb2014 (6/5): Find somewhere better. - The hotel is up an Alley, so be prepared to carry your luggage. The rooms are very small and have no natural light due to the windows butting up to next doors walls. Breakfast was nothing to look forward too, we chose to eat out. Only good thing was the location, which was right in the middle of most things.
Jade (8/5): Great value, very spacious - Location and room size is the best thing about this hotel. Walking distance to all things. Value for money. The entrance is down a back alley which makes it hard to find and cars cannot get in and out easily.
TraceyPorter (4/5): Dreadful hotel - Traveling solo I am used to getting the out of the way rooms that nobody else would want but this was taken to a whole new level. The facade of the hotel all looks great and you can be forgiven for thinking you have a grande place especially as you have a doorman ready to welcome you in. Be warned the bus is unable to get to the hotel due to its location down an alleyway so be prepared to be dropped on the main road and walk the rest of the way to the hotel. We had been informed we would be met with a welcome drink on the rooftop but sadly this was not the case as there is no longer a bar up there as this has been changed into a gym. Having been advised the room was ready I made my way to the 3rd floor to only to be asked to wait outside as they were still preparing the room. The room is small with just enough room either side of the bed to get in, in no exaggeration you can reach out in your sleep and touch the wall. The only place for your suitcase is the floor at the bottom of the bed, no luggage shelf. I could not see out of the windows as they had been blacked out with some form of screening so makes the room more like a box and very claustrophobic with no natural daylight. Open the window and was faced with a concrete wall they was so close you could reach out and touch. The drink station had no electrical socket so you had to boil your kettle on the dresser which had no mirror above. The hairdryer was broken and there is no place in the bathroom to hang clothes or wet towels.. I haven't attempted breakfast yet. There is no formal dining room but an area located to the side of reception Now the good points, the bed was clean and the hotel central. I would never return.
Adventure137133 (8/5): Great stop for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks - We came across the Conifer Grand Hotel by chance and stopped for drinks. Good choice for non residents. Nicely located on the French Quarter on a relatively quiet street close to the Opera House. Worth knowing about and reasonably priced. Serves food and drinks.

It's so quiet but just a street over its all hustle and bustle. Lots of little shops around for water etc. They even have an extremely fast laundry service.
Dietmar (8/5): Hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter - Amazing location, right around the corner from St. Joseph cathedral, quite littl street however you can hear the church bells. Easy walking distance to the old quarter with all its restaurants, bars, shops, bia hoi places etc. good breakfast - both Vietnamese (pho!=) and western very friendly and helpful staff! some rooms in the lower floors are a bit dark
Rika (10/5): Great hotel. Would stay again . In fact I am staying again this week :) - The room was lovely and had everything we needed. Also very clean. Perfect location , Close to everything. Staff were so incredible! After check out, they let us leave luggage at the lobby, and also let us use the bathroom for a shower at the end of the day (after check out also) which was amazing as we were going on a night sleeper bus. This is more to do with the location and the day we stayed - church bells were ringing all day on Sunday and unfortunately it could be heard. However I don't think there's any hotel in the old quarter that wouldn't have this issue. If you want the old quarter, it comes with the busy-ness and noise.
Ellene (10/5): Lovely hotel, staff and room - Spacious rooms, lovedddd the view of the dark church outside, staff were very accommodating, free umbrellas to use when it rains, gym was small with some weights but has aircon to keep it cool, they let us use the showers after checkout too, great location to walk around to everything. The church bells on Sunday start at 4:30AM till 10PM, and will ring every 1-2 hours because they have multiple mass sessions. They are super loud if you're a light sleeper!

Such good value for money and an overall wonderful experience. 24/hr check in was also really helpful as we arrived at 1am and there were staff waiting for us. Nothing, it was great! Although laundry is very expensive there so make sure to check the price list!

Bertrand (5/5): Be warned - room facilities are falsely advertised - Room was clean and a good size. Shower was good. Doorman was very friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic, right in the heart of things. Staff upgraded us to a larger room without us asking for it. We booked a room with a "patio" and "inside courtyard view" (see photo). We received a room with a window onto a brick wall that received absolutely no natural light. We were unable to tell if it was 4am, 9am or 12pm. It was constantly dark. The second photo is of the room at lunchtime. When we complained to the receptionist,we were told that we should not complain because we booked the cheapest room and had received an upgrade to a superior room. That is beside the point - we specifically wanted a room with an outdoor space, and were misled into booking this hotel. Another gripe is that soundproofing to the corridor is non existent - be prepared to hear every little conversation, door open or lift being summoned outside your room.

Housekeeping is a bit hit and miss. They forgot to refill something in our room every day. The hotel’s website says they have a bar and restaurant. They do not. They only serve breakfast and no bar. They need to update their website.

325marcosc (4/5): Not a "Grand" experience - Unfortunately we didn't bring back good memories of Conifer Grand Hotel. Our arrival at the hotel was quite late because the flight was delayed. When we asked if we could have a light meal we were told that there was a convenience store nearby and that they could give directions on how to get there. We chose to have some items from the minibar. The breakfast was somewhat scant, to the point where one of us asked if we could have a cappuccino and was shown two teapots, one with coffee and the other with milk. The rooms suffered from some lack of cleanliness, especially in the area designated for the WC, whose door did not close. The towels were overused. And the next day we had the unpleasant surprise of having a minibar's receipt/invoice including what we had consumed and three more bottles of water that we had not. When trying to clarify the situation at the reception we were simply told that the maid had seen the empty bottles in the room's bin. We said it was not true and that if we admitted the consumption of more expensive items we would have no problem admitting that. They even tried to "fix" the situation by saying that they would vouch for one of the bills (two bottles) and we would pay for the other (the remaining one). In a context where we had taken several Tours and received several bottles of water, we did not need to consume any others from the minibar. In fact, we left several bottles in it. It was our word against something that was at most "circumstantial" and we had no way of refuting it. So as not to be "owed any favors", we paid for everything, but we DEFINITELY do not intend to return to Conifer or recommend it under any circumstance, especially in a city like Hanoi, with so many other options. An experience not to be repeated. Interesting fact: before we tried to clarify the situation, the said maid had left a note with her name on it asking if we felt comfortable in the room with the cleaning she did, and if so, we should mention her in the review like this one. After what happened, the note disappeared, between the morning and the end of the day.
a (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff particularly the Porter. Only thing bit disappointed by was the price of the water in the hotel fridge (which also was only just cold) was 6 times what it would cost in a shop - I expect a mark-up but of all the hotels we stayed in this was the biggest mark-up by a long way
SKS1202 (8/5): Pleasant stay, clean tidy hotel, great location, helpful staff - I enjoyed my stay at Conifer. Staff is so friendly, even helped us order a Pizza in Vietnamese for dinner. Don’t be alarmed if the Driver drops you on the road side on the first day(it happened with us). Just call the hotel staff to help you wd the luggage as the hotel is in a narrow alley where cars can’t go in. But the location is excellent for shops n all the main attractions.

Clemens (8/5): Very good - Nice room, good bed, great location, very nice and helpful staff - mostly Just little things - the rain shower did not work, and the shower head was crusted and sprouting irregularly. I wanted an espresso for breakfast (there IS an espresso machine) and was kind-of-half-told that this is not part of normal breakfast and I had to have the coffee from the hot plate. Noodles for phô at breakfat ran out at 9 already (breakfast is served until 9:30) and were not replenished. Little things that can and should be better.

Firmanila (10/5): Overall, a very nice place to stay with a good value for money - I like how clean it is and how easy it is to reach. The hotel very close to the famous St Joseph Cathedral and many other tourist attractions. The staffs there are very helpful too. The wall is pretty thin so you might hear some people conversing in other rooms or outside your room. The lack of clothesline inside the bathroom is mildly inconvenient too
Samena (10/5): I would check in again! - The location was banging close to everthing and there are plentiful things to do on the street. Thistle and hustle of hanoi is not smack bang on the street. This street has a calmness about it, easly cross the streets. Great team of staff well managed and willing to go an extra mile. Stephen (10/5): - A great hotel right in the heart of the Old Town, and right next to St Joseph’s Cathedral, and a craft beer bar (if that’s your thing). If you want the truly authentic Hanoi Old Quarter experience, this is the place for you. Hoan Kiem Lake is also just a short walk away. I’ve stayed there twice now and highly recommend it.

Linda (6/5): convenient, quite and a short trip in the morning to get the cruise rather than commuting from Hanoi - The pool which is located about 1.5km away is brillant, by far the best pool I saw and swam in on the trip and it wasn't heated, which when the wether is 35 degrees you don't want the pool heated!!! Communication in english was hard and the pool was so far away! Breakfast was lots of options but very noisy.

Phillip (9/5): Great little hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter. - A recently refreshed and renewed hotel. When we shared it was our wedding anniversary - a bunch of roses appeared in the room! The hotel is right in the heart of the old quarter, close to the cathederal and the lake. In the street the local neighbours go about their business. The hotel is down a narrow street that does not allow car traffic which was great from both a noise and safety perspective. There are hundreds of restaurants nearby. As you expect in the old quarter, the building is built to the very extremeties of the boundary. There was very little natural light in our room - which is OK for a few days, just dont expect to throw open the curtains for a bright and sunny view of Hanoi.
