- Rita (10/5): Fantastic! A dream come true! - Everything. Gill is the best host. Nothing.
- Richard (10/5): - The area was perfect for our walking weekend. The room and facilities are great. Lovely big room in a stone farmhouse. Breakfast was lovely everything we could want. All was great.
- Finchett (8/5): - Good location. Spacious and comfortable room. Friendly host. 0
- Banner (8/5): Lovely stay with friendly and helpful host, in a lovely farmhouse in a wonderful location. - We had a really warm welcome. We were a bit later than expected and were offered hot chocolate and joined friends around firepits. Breakfasts were fantastic. The location is brilliant. 30 minutes drive from Gunnerside for a hike up to Gunnerside Gill under a cloudless sky in early March. On our return, we had time for a lovely hot bath before collecting an Indian takeaway and dining by a roaring open fire. Gill was really friendly and helpful - and responsive on the booking.com messaging :-)
We would happily stay again. Our bed was a bit squeaky - not sure if it was the springs, or the frame. We knew there was a cockerel at the farm - mentioned in previous reviews. Had not realised there were about a dozen of them and they started crowing at 3am! It's fine when you are asleep, but having awoken, it makes getting back to sleep a bit tricky,
- Helen (10/5): - The location was perfect. Very big room and ensuite. Lovely views over the countryside. Very friendly welcome and chats from Gill. We definitely hope to return in the summer time to see the owls and hopefully the bats. Nothing
- Downing (9/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Hilary (9/5): - Hearty breakfast beautiful location N/a
- Nancy (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Excellent There was nothing not to like. Everything was lovely.
- Doreen (9/5): Loved our stay and would definitely recommend - Gill was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. We chose the small full English breakfast which was more than enough considering there was a range of cereals, fruit juice and toast too.
The room was spacious with complimentary biscuits and sweets available. Fresh milk and water in a fridge on the landing.
Lots of lovely chickens wandering around as well as a goat, sheep and a goose. Loved seeing them all.
Gill clearly works hard to keep everything right but didn’t seem flustered or stressed. She’s amazing.
The farm is a bit of a walk into town, downhill but we only walked back once as it’s very uphill.
A great choice of food and drink in Richmond. The bathroom window had no blind which meant anyone in the yard, not that we saw anyone, could see in. We simply propped against the window which solved this.
The hot water was very very hot.
A non slip mat inside the shower would’ve been appreciated.
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Phil (10/5): Very relaxing. - Beautiful house and location, with great views. Plenty of farm animals to keep animal loving children entertained.
- Chris (10/5): A beautiful and friendly place to stay - The location was absolutely beautiful and the accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Jill was extremely helpful and friendly.

- Matilda (10/5): Glorious and very festive this time of year - The host couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming, and the vibe and general atmosphere was absolutely lovely. The house is beautiful, the room spacious and the breakfast exceptional. We took a train from London, the bus from Darlington to Richmond and walked the mile or so uphill over fields to reach the B&B. A great place to go if you're a keen walker as there are lots of trails nearby and it's easy to use Richmond as a base for food and drink.
- Graham (10/5): -
- Philomena (10/5): quiet, unrushed, laid back and welcoming...clean and the beds are sooooooooo comfy - The location was stunning and the farm animals ,pets were a joy to watch. Our host couldn't do enough to make our stay more welcoming...attentive without being over bearing, kind and polite.......nothing was an issue even when Thor, our mad staffy, tinkled on the floor with excitement before you knew it it was cleaned up without fuss....This is the B and B we all want to visit for some peace and quiet and an excellent friendly, homely atmosphere....oh and the Breakfast is sooo tasty! there is nothing to improve, we were looking for some tranquillity and a friendly welcoming stay....Which we got....easy to find 2 minutes from Richmond Market...simply bliss
- Jason (10/5): Wonderful town, wonderful house, wonderful hospitality. - Gillian had thought of everything we might need or want. It was the little things; the spare charger in the drawer, the plates and cutlery for if we ordered a takeaway, the wine glasses, etc etc. The rooms were also huge and spacious. We would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be going back. Absolutely nothing.
- Jeremy (9/5): Relaxing, comfortable, friendly. - Super quiet and convenient location, easy access, large comfortable bedroom with all needed facilities.
Super hostess, very helpful and accommodating for our needs.
Lovely delicious breakfast.
Everything we needed to make our stay in beautiful Yorkshire a real treat. there was nothing significant to mention here.

Our little boy fell in love with the farm cat!! No complaints, loved every minute.
- GARY (9/5): Great stay up my street - Low gingerfield is easy to find, it is a working farm venue with lots of farm animals around the venue . The farm is clean and food is excellent, if you are looking for a down to earth unpretentious venue then this is it. Gill the host works hard to make sure all your wants are catered for I really enjoyed my two nights so did maple my fox red lab . I would stay again in a hearts best . The front door and bedroom door look identical and would benefi
from colour coding for us older folk .
- Phil (9/5): Great stay at a super location. - Wonderful location. Super hostess who made us feel very welcome. Fantastic breakfast as well.
- Andrzej (10/5): Perfect B&B - We loved our stay here. Gill the wonderful owner made us feel welcome. Our room in the lovely stone house was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed views over the peaceful countryside and the calming sounds of the farm animals. Richmond with all its restaurants and attractions was 3 minutes away by car. This was one of the best and friendliest places we have stayed at in our lives. We would love to come back. There was absolutely nothing we did not like.
- Leland (10/5): Pleasant stay in the country,
close to the town of
Richmond - Gill, the hostess, was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Very good breakfast with a large room, a shared lounge area with one other guest. - Stephen (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): We enjoyed it very much. - Spacious room with good hanging and drawer space. Good breakfast. Comfortable lounge. Ample parking. Quiet, rural location with good views from our room. Having to drive into Richmond for our evening meal.
- Graham (10/5): -
- John (9/5): Proper country farm house - Gill the host was brilliant there to help at any time
Breakfast cooked to order. Farmhouse with beautiful views. Nothing really, we knew it was a working farm when we booked. One thing I would say to guests. The cockrells are noisy in the morning from dawn, so be prepared to have early rise. You really know your in the countryside.
- Ingrid (10/5): -
- Cristina (9/5): Peaceful countryside getaway - Lovely little B&B in the countryside with friendly farm animals. Beautiful scenery all around but within a 5 minute drive to Richmond, which has many amenities and choices of eateries. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. Gill was lovely, attentive, and flexible, preparing breakfast earlier than usual when we stated we needed to leave early one morning. The room was spacious and had everything we needed.
- Kenneth (10/5): Good stay - This is a proper working farm with a lovely old farmhouse accommodation. Gillian the hostess is a diamond and can't do enough for her guests. Breakfast was delicious and there is plenty of parking. Not a dislike but it's a good long hike into Richmond. Our little dog struggled but the taxis are not expensive.
- Joacim (9/5): Superb -
- Michele (9/5): Like staying with family, a hidden gem, very comfortable and Jill the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. Lovely - Beautiful setting, in the Yorkshire countryside. Very homely with a lovely host. Jill the owner was so welcoming and made us feel at home.
- Doggie_the_great (10/5): If you look for a cozy quiet place - that's your choice! - It was our second stay with my partner and we absolutely love it! - Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Karla (10/5): Fun farm stay - Host was wonderful. Facilities were very nice. Be aware there are stairs to climb to reach your room. Very homey and yet beautiful. Breakfast was scrumptious. If you sleep lightly, be aware roosters may awaken you very early during summer hours.
- Karen (10/5): Perfect place to stay to get away from it all a special thank-you to Gill such a lovely lady. - The breakfast was really nice with a great selection and tasted lovely. Their was nothing that we didn't like it was all great, our host gill was very engaging and helpful the actual place was set in lovely surroundings peaceful and relaxing we couldn't have being happier.
- Pamela (10/5): Excellent. - The location of the property was perfect. Near enough to Richmond Town centre but just far enough away to feel in the middle of the country side. Views amazing. Property beautiful and eclectic mix feeling like home from home. Nothing too much trouble for the host Gill, who was very friendly. Breakfast delicious and big enough to keep you going all day. Parking no problem and 24 hour access to the property. Tea, coffee, fresh milk in plentiful supply. Clean comfortable beds. Everything you could wish for on a mini break to get away from everything. Hope to be back😊 Leaving at the end, could have stayed longer.
- Jayne (10/5): What a great stay - This is a lovely B & B, from driving up the road to arriving. A lovely warm welcome. The room was very spacious, clean and decor is beautiful. All you need for a great stay, even a little fridge for fresh milk and anything you want to use it for. Breakfast was delicious. Landlady is so friendly and helpful. Chickens, sheep, a goat and a goose on the doorstep (nearly). Would highly recommend. Hopefully will be back again. N/A
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frances (9/5): The owner made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed the countryside setting - Lovely big bedroom The armchairs in the bedroom were a bit low for those who are elderly. The lights were also too dim to read by but the owner willingly provided us with two extra table lights.

The welcome from Gill was top class, personal service, specifically tailored to individual needs, it was ... At the risk of repeating myself, simply top class.
The eclectic mix of animals roaming freely added an extra dimension of sheer escapism! Leaving!

- Karen (10/5): Exceeded our expectations. Excellent host! - Gill went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay again and recommend Low Gingerfield farm. Location was ideal
- Alexandra (3/5): Poor - Low cost, very large room and nice countryside location. Several cockerels crowing from midnight all the way through the night beneath my bedroom window. Mattress was uncomfortable and bed was creaking like the frame had been broken.
Because of this I regrettably had to leave after one night as I knew that the host would not have been able to rectify all the issues even with the best will in the world. I tried to raise this quietly and apologetically outside of earshot of other guests and be on my way as quickly as I could in the morning so to try to avoid causing offence.
The host offered a partial refund which was a good will gesture that I didn't expect and I very much appreciated. However, the host took the feedback very personally which made for a very awkward departure.
She claimed that as the B&B has farm in the title, I should have expected multiple cockerels that don't sleep (I have never experienced this from staying on farms before) and that no one else had complained about the bed.
I know negative feedback is difficult when a business is close to your heart but I couldn't stay another night of three hours sleep with a four hour drive home awaiting me on the Sunday. The host's parting comment was "I hope you find somewhere nicer to stay". As a single female traveller with no room booking for the night, I went to stay with the relatives I was visiting as one of them was recovering from a stroke.
The host was already aware that I was visiting a relative who had had a stroke, so I found her comment quite nasty. She confirmed my refund via booking.com but also felt the need to send me a text message to my mobile saying that she was sorry that I felt the need to leave. This also seemed unnecessary given that she hadn't used my mobile for any greeting or rapport building prior to my stay. No greeting or directions were provided prior to the stay on booking.com either, only a curt enquiry about what time I expected to arrive.

The house is beautiful, warm and full of character. Room was lovely, clean and spacious with fresh bedding and towels. Torch provided foe night walks back from Richmond. The walk into Richmond takes around 30-35mins and be prepared, it is hilly.
