Guest Reviews
- Carol (7/5): Comfortable - Good location
- Elizabeth (9/5): - This place was so clean, obviously just updated as it looked new inside. Bed very comfortable, staff great Could use a shelf in the bathroom for women's creams/hair stuff
- Gordon (10/5): Exceptionally clean, modern room and accommodating staff. - Location was easy to find with access to the community centre within walking distance. Did not have a complaint.
- Barry (8/5): -
- Lee (5/5): I probably would chose a different little next time. - Good location and staff were very friendly. It was full of maple bugs everywhere. The doors were so hard to open with the keys that we were not able to close the door all the way. The room was very small and the bathroom shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months.
- Conrad (1/5): -
- Judy (9/5): -
- June (8/5): Great budget friendly place - The staff were very kind & even provided extra pillows. We arrived late and they were able to direct us to open restaurants.
- Frazer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lillo (5/5): Passable -
- Rosanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shauna (5/5): Adequate for our needs and would stay again. - Friendly staff. Room was pretty clean. Older, dated property. The light fixtures by the beds did not work. Heating is radiant so slower to respond than forced air (it is nice and quiet though).
- Vanessa (7/5): Good -
- William (9/5): Quiet, pleasant place for a night - Clean, pleasant space. Quiet but near the middle of town, so convenient for shops.
- Compagnon (7/5): Good -
- Don (7/5): Good -
- Dianne (5/5): Was a place to sleep after a long travel day. - No breakfast Room was cold, slept with all our clothes on to be warm .Never did get TV to work.

- Isaac (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed, convenient location, quiet.
- Mckee (8/5): Very good -
- Courtoreille (9/5): Superb - The location and the room The room was too hot and the A/C wasn't cool enough.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - The placd was as on the photos. The staff - reception - assited with the one or two issues we had. They are friendly and helpful. I was pleasantly surprisd and glad we selected this place That I could not stay another night as we needed to move on
- Douglas (8/5): Very good -
- Marie (8/5): Very comfortable, but they need to change the towels - The room was very clean and comfortable The towels were awful and need to be changed. They were very cheap and therefore not absorbent at all.
- George (2/5): Bad Motel saved by Good Location - Location. There is a Tesla Supercharger two blocks away. Fort MacLeod’s charger and proximity to Glacier and Waterton Parks creates a hub that’s within driving range.
The hotel needs a lot of work, but there are no bugs.
Gentleman at the front desk was friendly, quickly opened the door when I locked myself out. Overpriced considering the following:
Air conditioner is extremely loud.
Small kitchen in the bedroom has a sink that drips constantly and loudly.
Entry light in main room flickered then burned out. Next day the lamps in the bathroom flickered, then lit with a fraction of normal brightness.
No stopper in bathroom sink.
As expected from other reviews the towels are thin and worn out. But worse than that, after the facecloths were wet, we noticed a disgusting sour smell. We ended up using windshield rags from the car.
There are a few other motels in Fort MacLeod. Based upon reviews on Booking.com this “Red Coat Inn” seemed to be the least bad. And that’s a shame.
- Jose (7/5): accordingly - nothing in special smell of smoking
- Kris (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (7/5): Good - Good price. Had all we needed.
- Theresa (7/5): Nice but No pool as advetised . - Location . The bed was also really comfortable. The fridge -
and freezer in the room was larger than most . It advertised on sign outside and in pics that it had an indoor pool - NOT CORRECT - Sure they have it but it has not been opened since COVID! My daughter picked this motel for the pool .
- Carolyn (10/5): An amazing stay! - There was no breakfast but across the street was a great little family run grocery store. The front desk clerk was helpful and friendly. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. We loved the coffee!
- Macdonald (9/5): Great little find - The room was very big. We stayed in every hotel in Fort MacLeod, and this was by far the largest one.
Kitchen so we could cook was a bonus
2 double beds comfortable but comforters were dated
2 large tables Spider webs under the sink in the washroom holding up a piece of toilet paper in the air
Only 2 small towels for 4 ppl
The fridge seal prevents the fridge from closing all the way
Alarm clock not plugged in to show time
The kitchen area is a bit dirty... The back wall behind the stove and the little air fryer could be washed
- Janice (6/5): Pleasant - My stay was comfortable. They really need to replace the towels & face clothes. Very musty smelling. Thankfully I had my own.
- Larry (3/5): Disappointed for the money spent - Location A/C didn’t work, no window to even open. Was 33c in room. Rooms run down
- Tracy (7/5): Good -
- Barbara (8/5): Pleasant older motel in center of town, very comfortable bed. -
- Donald (6/5): Pleasant - Price and bed were great No restaurant close
- Meryle (10/5): Very nice - The front desk guy was nice, booked online everything went well. Nice clean, beds & pillows were very nice.
- Hong-phong (9/5): A good night rest at a reasonable price. - The large family suite with a kitchen was perfect for our family. Nothing luxurious but clean and quiet. There was even an outlet for me to plug in my hybrid vehicle. Good value for the price. We arrived late and was allowed a late checkout. But the one thing I most valued was the helpfulness and honesty of Joseph on the staff who helps run the family business. My son had forgotten his ear buds and we were able to claim them back days later/ Rude guests, but that's not the motel's fault.
- Dannette (2/5): Very poor -

- Charles (3/5): Disappointed with the reason for us to be placed in the unit we were in no opening windows in the room. Hot day in the - There was only three location in town this it was a toss up. Hard to say what we like other than it was a bed for the night and we didn’t want to ride thru the rain.

- Goldman (7/5): reasonably priced motel with good parking for long loads - the parking was good
- Cheryl (7/5): helpful, friendly staff- good place to stay while visiting Head Smashed In - friendly staff, clean rooms, close to Head Smashed In could use a reno
- pauline (6/5): Fort MacLeod - Not too much to choose from in the small town of Fort MacLeod. Red Coat Inn certainly seemed the better of choices. A bit dated and a tad rundown it was clean and convenient. Office were helpful and on-site parking was free. The Fort is well worth a visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is an old motel and it does show its age however it is priced accordingly and is clean and bed is comfortable
- Tom (8/5): - Nice , affordable , clean place to sleep when the roads horrible .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was a nice place for an older motel as it has been around for a long time
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I had to smoke outside. One Coffee package was oppend.moe coffee cream and sugar are needed in the rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's cheap and cheerful and suited our needs.... that is a good nights sleep and a hot shower
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In good shape for an older premises. Everything provided.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was a dump! We picked this place because it used to be the best motel in town. It's really gone downhill. The beds are really uncomfortable. The pool was closed. The room was dirty, and they 9nly provided coffee cups and towels for 2 people, even though we paid for 3 people. They did give us a 3rd cup and towel when I went and asked for it. Next time we'll stay at the Fort Motel for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, little hotel - The hotel was nice. I expected to stay in the bungalow type room (the only type I saw online) but when we checked in, we were directed to a 2 story building. The 1st key didn’t work, so back down to the office. Breakfast was a typical quick, grab and go..granola bars, fruit, packaged pastry, cold cereal, toast. The beds were so so; room was huge.
