Verified traveler (10/5): best place to see aurora! - the staff here are super friendly, provided us with welcome gift and hot water readily. the room is well heated so we can enjoy aurora in a warm comfy environment.
MAN WAI (10/5): Once in a lifetime experience!!! - Staying in igloo was an amazing experience to us. The room decorations made you feel at home. It was so great to stay inside the room warmly while outside was below -25°C. Especially at night you could simply staying warmly inside to see the unforgettable dancing aurora directly. No need to suffer the freezing temperatures outside. Staff came so often to fill our hot water. And they using the translate to communicate with us. Don't miss the BBQ dinner and breakfast in the village. Staff would have to prepare the food and the cost was reasonable. The only one disadvantage was the network coverage. Only magefone could be used in the village, not Beeline, not MTC. But, we still enjoyed our stay in the village.
Verified traveler (10/5): Aurora Borealis from a Cozy Igloo - Aurora Village is about an hour away from Murmansk, so transport should be arranged both to and from the village before the stay. The igloos were adorable and had every amenity you could need. There were 4 twin beds, 2 on the main floor and 2 up in a small loft area. The beds are wooden slat beds and need weight to be distributed, pushing them together is not recommended. There were plenty of heating options including a space heater, steam radiators, and a wood stove. However, the insulation is very good and you may get too warm, so the top portion of the door can be vented. The bathroom is nicely done with plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful, bringing us thermoses of hot water, chocolates, and even a bottle fo champagne. When they saw the Northern Lights, they knocked on our window to let us know since they knew we were up. There are 6 igloos in total and a small grill area in the middle. No food available, so bring something to grill, some snacks, and drinks. We were lucky to see the lights and had a great view of stars because there is no light pollution. Overall a great stay and a nice addition to your Kola Peninsula travels.
