The was zero hospitality - no one there to check us in, no one at the desk when we came down in the morning for breakfast. The breakfast was not worth eating. Single-serving cereal (Special K and Frosted Flakes) and some plain bagels in plastic wrap. There was no place to get water. No real coffee cups - just plastic. There was no staff around to ask questions or get help. It felt more like a motel with antiques than anything else.

The rooms are adorable, just our style, and the entire property is gorgeous. The vintage style is so fun and comfy, and it’s very clean and well taken care of. It was a huge bonus that it’s close to the lake because I’m a runner and there was lots of beautiful scenery as I did my five mile run this morning. If I could give the inn 10 stars I would, we will never stay anywhere else when we’re visiting family in the area. Thank you springside for making our trip so special!

• cindy (6/5): Two Night Stay - This seems like a great place for a function. The grounds are very nice. If you stay in a standard room, do not expect a lot. I agree with the review that said the windows are filthy. The sheets appeared to be clean, but were stained which wasn't appealing. Maybe it was a Monday, but the service was non existant and do not expect much from the "continental" breakfast. If you put a "do not disturb" sign on the door, don't be surprised if you get a knock at the door with someone offering you towels! The hosts did not introduce themselves when present. Although the man was nice, I can't say the same for the woman.

• Charles (8/5): - This property, after speaking to the owner the day we left, is a 150 year old building. It is very nostalgic, with creeky floors/stairs. We actually had a key to the room, not a credit card scanner to enter. The staff was amazing, bringing water/coffee up to the third floor to our room. They don’t “technically” have a bar for serving the guests, but because they had a “special event” going on at the same time, they sent their “bartender” to the bar to serve us!!!! JJ was his name, and he’s a hoot! Very good personality! We loved him! We had a “nightcap drink”, and retired to our room. The rooms aren’t BIG, and ours didn’t even have a microwave or fridge, but they did have furniture close to the timeframe of the building itself. Felt like we were staying in a place from George Washington era. That’s okay too! It was a blast from the past! We liked it.
• nicolapY2650RP (10/5): A Finger Lakes gem with Thoughtful Hosts - We had a great stay at The Springside Inn in Auburn, NY. It’s a beautiful, historic, family-owned property with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The inn has a rustic charm and plenty of character, and the service was excellent—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, with nice areas to walk and relax. The owners really went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable, responding to our questions with care and helping us feel right at home. It’s clear that a lot of thought and heart goes into running this place, and it really shows. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and unique place to stay in the Finger Lakes area.
• Beachlover0985 (10/5): Charming and quiet - Charming and quaint, and most importantly, a good night's rest. We stayed in suit 23 for one night while driving through. This was a Sunday night, and there were only a few other guests there. Our room was so spacious and comfortable. It was very quiet! We really felt like we were the only people there. Location is close to a lot of restaurants in Auburn, and it's also very close to a park with public access to the lake. We also drove by several wineries nearby. The only room for improvement would be the breakfast. It consisted of some grocery store bagels, cereal, and oatmeal packets.
• Karen (8/5): - Note - this if you are lodging here. It seems it has newer owners who are making an effort to provide a great guest experience. However, the floors need better attention. It was clean but not as clean as I have experienced in other B&B's. The pillows weren't very comfortable. It should also be noted that continental breakfast is that at a bare minimum. But, for the price and the area you are in I don't have an issue with that. Just something to note. The rooms are lovely. I think if they just hit a couple of details it will be an excellent place to stay.
• Jennifer (8/5): - Very cute room and atmosphere. Very comfortable bed, strong shower. Not enough staff to help. Ran out of coffee for "breakfast" which was a very limited offering of cold pastries. Very good BED, but not really a BED AND BREAKFAST, just a bed.
• Roger (8/5): - Nice property and beautiful rooms. However lack of amenities makes it uncomfortable. No bottled water in the room and no one to ask as there is no one at the desk; no coffee. Only 1 bottle of shampoo,nothing else. Very small soaps, and water in the sink just drips. I’ll have to test the shower tomorrow. 2 cheap plastic cups. Tiny bathroom. Can’t even move there. No place in bathroom to place our belongings. We haven’t had their continental breakfast yet. This hotel is NOT EXCELLENT like you advertise. Maybe 3 stars at best.

• Laurie (10/5): - We were in town for a nearby event, and booked a room at the charming Springside Inn. We love historical properties, and I could tell right away that this location is beloved by many. They host weddings (my career) and had a bridal shower, a live dinner and dance show, and were preparing for Easter brunch when we checked out. We had a tranquil and private room upstairs with the cutest vintage decor, and a massive soaking bathtub. The view of the terrace and forest behind the building was nice and soothing, and we never heard a peep the whole time we stayed there. You would NEVER know they had any events on the property; they must have fantastic soundproofing. I'm not being sarcastic, we honestly had a silent room. We'd love to come and visit again during the summer to try boating on the lake across the street. We enjoyed and highly recommend.

There was a wedding group here and the family in the next room and their kids knocked on our door, the parents were yelling and vomiting which was quite loud because they didn’t close their door. There was no one at the desk to intervene, and no answer when we called the Inn’s phone number. So we had no choice but to put up with this lunatic behavior until these people either fell asleep or passed out. Will never stay here again.

Overall, Springside Inn is highly recommended for anyone considering having a wedding reception in the Auburn NY area. We were very pleased.

She explained some of the history and showed us binders of old photos and notes that documented the history of the inn.The inn looks beautiful and the grounds are very pleasing. We had a continental breakfast each morning and were given information about nearby restaurants and attractions. This was a base to explore the area. We stayed on the third floor, which is reached by stairs. The inn was quiet except for the creak of those stairs and we spent pleasant evenings playing cards in the common areas.

• ShayGrizzle (4/5): Stay at a real hotel instead. No charm, no "Inn" amenities - Please realize many of the reviews for this place are for the restaurant and not for guests staying at the inn. My stay as a guest was less than thrilling. In retrospect we should've spent the extra $ to stay at an actual hotel. Cute and quaint and exactly what we hoped it wouldn't be. The room smelled and looked old. The bathroom could comfortably fit a small adult (I am small and still felt claustrophobic). We ended up not showering because the bathroom was just gross. A very small standing shower with a hard water stained shower curtain. A small sink and terrible lighting. The room was dusty. Just dusty. It's clear the cleaning crew doesn't actually keep the room fresh, probably a quick laundering of the same sheets and comforters and a quick lysol in the bathroom. Otherwise, the room was just crusty feeling. The room itself is large with a terrible layout and more importantly the doors a paper thin. We could hear everyone who came up or down the stairs, any opening or closing doors, and the conversations of everyone in the halls...a restless night for sure.....BUT The finale...the bed. I've stayed at my fair share of terrible places but so long as the bed is comfy...I'm good to go. Unfortunately the bed was awful. Flat pillows, dated sheets, and bed that CREAKED! Prior to heading to our event for the evening, I tried to take a quick nap. I am a light sleeper and already sensitive to noise but you literally could not lay down or shift, adjust a pillow, or move leg without the entire bed squeaking. Needless to say heading into the actual night of sleep we were less than thrilled. Service left little to be desired. We checked in and were shown our room, and that was about it. It was unclear if/where water might be available. There were NO glasses in the room, etc., etc. When we checked in and were shown our room, they were also actively painting the hall, which was bizarre because...we checked in on a Friday at 4 PM. Was there not a better time of day to do that? The morning breakfast was pretty bad. If there's one thing we counted on, it was a nice B&B style meal...there was a crappy spattering of cold pastries and eh coffee. We opted not to eat any of it. Laughable to be told 'breakfast was included'. For $200, you're better off getting a hotel with actual amenities.

• amelia (10/5): - This is a beautiful property, it is like staying in a historical mansion. We stayed in a king suite and the room was huge and very nice. Continental breakfast was simple and sufficient, great experience overall. We had an emergency situation at home (12 hrs away) and the manager was extremely helpful in working with us so that we could leave a day early. Would definitely recommend this hotel…close to Skeaneatles and the lake.
• Y1177UBgeorgec (10/5): A most enjoyable stay in New York State - My wife and I have been to Auburn New York several times in the past years, but this is the first time we had the pleasure of staying at the Springside INN however it certainly will not be the last time This is a charming hotel, beautiful rooms and very comfortable If you ever have the opportunity to visit, Auburn, New York, do yourself a favor and book into the Springside Inn and you will not regret it

Bagels in a plastic wrap and some mini muffins in a tray. Coffee had a funky flavor . Not worth the money we paid.
• Aaron Harold (8/5): First impressions don’t always work out - This is a quaint Inn in the Finger Lakes where we once had stayed previously and due to the location and are enjoying the day we went again en route a road trip. Although we did not mind having the room key left in an envelope at the front door with an entry code because we arrived at 7:30 PM it was disappointing that no one was there when we left in the morning at 9:30 The building the room and the grounds are quaint, but needing much love- Including an interior paint job, Repair to the wallpaper, And the new mattress which is very soft and uncomfortable Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a stay at this location

• jaygV1442KO (10/5): A lovely time in the Finger Lakes! - We loved the room and the hospitality. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The owners and staff were very responsive to questions, even with a lot of activity going on for Easter and a bridal shower. The continental breakfast had quite a few options, including fresh muffins and scones.

• Jane (8/5): - This is a nice old inn, across the street from the lake. March is not the ideal time for this lovely venue, but it was on my way to my destination and I enjoyed my time here. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. My large room had a nice view, comfortable bed and nice furnishings and lovely bathroom. Old building and old-fashioned, but still a nice place to visit.

She then said she could but had to take a chair somewhere. I watched her lift the chair & 6 mins later, I was standing still waiting on her to return. I left without the wine.
• JoAnn (10/5): Lovely Inn on Owaso Lake - This was quite a find! A lovely bed and breakfast within easy driving distance of Auburn. Pretty, comfortable room, spotlessly clean, very quiet, nice breakfast, view of the lake from our window. Had a great dinner at a restaurant recommended by the hotel. Very reasonable price. Hope to return.
• MOBRASIL (10/5): Wonderful!! - Incredible place!! Renovations were done just enough so we can have the comforts of today with the charm of the old times (great bathrooms!!). Everything around shows how much they care about their customers, and they do a great job making us feel at home. Great bed, beautiful and clean bedroom and bathroom. We definitely want to go back in the spring!! I love the fact that the rooms are all different, so you can pick the one that goes better with your personality.

• Juli (6/5): - Old 1800's house in a beautifully manicured setting not too far from the lake. Very quiet. We were met by a young woman who was very welcoming and friendly. We had a nice room with period style decor and a big king size bed (what we generally look for). The air conditioning unit was very quiet which was a nice change from the norm. Fridge and coffee station set up was nice. Overall it was clean except for the wood floors which were very sticky and loud when you walked on them. Don't know if they just cleaned up after a huge juice spill or just not rinsed properly. It was loud enough to disturb someone's sleep. The throw rugs were very dirty as was the couch and chairs. A 90's couch (I have a similar one so I recognize the age) just really dirty and would benefit from a steam cleaning. It's a 7 room inn so that would be possible in the off season. I mean, everything's possible. Overall, the room was pleasant (bed not so comfortable but better than a lot that trip) just needs a deep clean.

• 681dianen (10/5): Romantic, relaxing place - We could not have been happier with our stay at Springside Inn. Comfort, ambiance, amenities, staff…it’s a beautiful place. We met Sean, the owner, who is quite nice. I’m glad we made this choice and certainly will again.
• docoffee (2/5): Rooms either are freezing cold or boiling hot - We were looking forward to a B and B type experience at this iconic Auburn spot. We understood their dining room had recently been closed and that they provided a continental breakfast that was included in the rate. We splurged and decided it would be a romantic night. When we checked in, the room was about 60 degrees and we noted there was no thermostat inside. Having stayed at other B and B places, we understood, and found the control in the hallway. We set the control to 70, went to dinner at the Apple Orchard place, and when we returned our room was chilly but not freezing, with the thermostat still set to 70. At some point in the night another person in the same hallway, at the other end, returned to their room and found it boiling hot. They turned the thermostat down so their room would be at a temperature to meet their needs, resulting in us waking in the middle of the night to mid 50 degree ice cold room. When we went down to breakfast nobody was available and we had to find the manager or owner in the kitchen. We explained about the temperature and he seemed to be surprised and as if it was beyond his control to do anything. We were left feeling dismissed and very disappointed that our needs were not important. After eating and packing, we tried to check out but once again, nobody was available. That's when we met the couple who had the room at the other end of the hall! We shared with them our freezing room story and they shared their boiling room experience. As we tried to check out, ringing the bell, waiting, ringing again, then going around the facility looking for anyone, we finally found someone in the kitchen to return the key, assuming the owner or manager was hiding. The thermostat problem was apparently not only well known, but had caused problems for the person who was in our room the night before! We cannot state strongly enough that this once beloved institution is broke. Do not stay here if you expect to be taken care of and have your stay be a positive one.

• Michelle (10/5): - We loved our stay at Springside Inn! It was clean, the bed was super comfy and the staff was very friendly. The only negative (and this IS NO FAULT to the inn) that I can say is that there was a wedding party downstairs and when people came up the stairs (which were right next to our room) to use the restroom, they were very inconsiderate of the fact that guests were staying there and possibly trying to sleep. They were just very loud.
• FStop11 (10/5): Wonderful Hosts - We stayed at the Springside Inn for President’s Day weekend, three rooms for ourselves and our two adult children. Our host - Sean Larrimore - was welcoming and very helpful. We have an electric car and Sean helped us out to use a nearby electric charger. Each room is unique and charming. We had a delicious dinner at their Oak & Vine restaurant with attentive service. Highly recommended.
• William H (10/5): - Excellent historic Inn. Beautiful grounds & building. Room was gorgeous with wonderful decor. 4 poster bed with exquisite bedding & super comfortable. Bathroom was super clean with whirlpool tub & shower. Nice thick towels too. Innkeepers were very helpful and very friendly. Lovely dining area.
• John (10/5): Beautiful Inn with very nice restaurant and bar - Very nice old inn with 7 rooms and a nice restaurant and bar. The room was beautiful and very spacious with lots of windows. Close to the lake and to the town of auburn. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, but we probably would have just eaten the bar food during Happy Hour from 4-6. The nachos, sliders and Brussel sprouts all looked very good.

• ThomasK229 (6/5): Wedding reception - We were invited to a wedding reception at the Springside Inn. Beautiful venue w nice grounds and well appointed public spaces. Catering was mediocre- at best. Salads brought to dining room on ols sheet trays vs serving trays. We had a filet and a chicken marsala. Filet was a perfect medium rare, but sauce had no flavor. And the chicken ( and the reason for a 3 rating) was still raw. Very pink center!
• Q3848AJSusan_B (10/5): Great Hospitality - Our last stop on a mini vacation and did not disappoint us! A delightful Inn with amazing rooms and a warm welcome from the owner. We wished the dining room had been open, however our visit was on Sunday when they are closed. Room was super spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the in-room coffee and continental breakfast. We also enjoyed our visit with the host. We will be sure to come again!
• howards50 (8/5): Large room, small bathroom - My wife and I stayed there one night, on a Saturday night, in room 21, which is a large room with a king size bed. However, the bathroom is very small and there is a small stand-up shower. All who work there are friendly and helpful. The hotel is 1/2 mile from Emerson Park on Lake Owasco, which has boat launches and benches. We saw people fishing there. The restaurant was closed that night as there was a wedding on the premises and it was in progress on the frontlawn when we checked in. Car were parked along side the driveway, but we were able to find a spot in the lot. With the wedding going on, there was contention for the use of the facility, e.g., the guests stood in the road, so getting out the driveway was difficult and it was crowded in the small entrance way when we checked in. The band was also loud, but they stopped playing at 11 PM and the noise in our room was not that bad. The Inn provides a self-serve continental breakfast and there were bagels, coffee, juice, yogurt, and hot and cold cereal. Since we asked for fruit, they made us a very nice fruit salad that had a variety of fruit in it, which was a very nice touch. There is free Wi-Fi, they use real keys, and provide soap and shampoo.
• Antelope1 (10/5): Excellent one night stay - Beautiful historic hotel. We were upgraded to suite which was nicely renovated. Nice restaurant, Oak and Vine with a beautiful large porch. Only spent one night here and will definitely be back. We were in the area for a concert at Beak and Skiff..

• CabinFeverNY (6/5): Dull, Dated and Musty Smelling - Stayed for 1 night for our anniversary. Not many other decent options in Auburn, so we thought we would try the Springside Inn. From the time we were taken to the room (Honeymoon suite), I noticed how dated and worn everything was, loud creaky floors throughout the room, and it smelled terribly musty. I was really disappointed! I didn't let on to my wife how disappointed I was in the place, considering it was her choice, but I honestly couldn't wait to leave.
• Aaron Harold (10/5): Country comfort in a scenic setting - The owners were so very friendly - accommodating - and informative . The site is on 8 acres of parkland that is both manicured and naturally scenic. The rooms are very nicely furnished with period furniture coupled with modern appliances and comforts. A must stay - whether a stopover ( as we did ) on a road trip - or a longer stay ( swimming , fishing , biking , hiking etc ) as we plan do on our next stay ( within the next few months !)

WE WILL DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN . PROBABLY SOON . WE WERE SO IMPRESSED WITH EVERYTHING , ESPECIALLY THEIR HOSPITALITY .
• Lisa (10/5): - It was my birthday and on a whim we decided to take a road trip. The place was so lovely! And even though Easter brunch was sold out, they found a place for us to eat. Beth the owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. The grounds were lovely and across the street from the lake. I highly recommend this place and hope to return.
