Guest Reviews
- Sylvie (10/5): Très agréable séjour - L’accueil, la gentillesse et la décoration. Tout nous a été facilité. Le personnel est charmant. Le bruit de la route est très dérangeant quand on dort la fenêtre ouverte.
- Valerie (10/5): What a welcome to the Cotswolds - We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked into this lovely inn. We had a superb room with tea and coffee making facilities and fresh milk available from the bar. Fresh cookies were an unexpected bonus.
Our evening meal was delicious. The apple crumble was one of the best we've tasted. The pasta dishes were vibrant and the perfect amount.
Good beer and excellent wine.
And all at a reasonable price.
- Steen (8/5): We had a pleasant stay and would visit again. - Friendly staff, especially Ellie. The menus for the evening meal were limited but the food was adequate and reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good.
- Margarete (4/5): -
- Suzanne (10/5): Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They let us put our food purchases in their fridge before we returned home. - Very cosy Steps
- Esther (7/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful. Evening meal very good. Location. Generally very clean. Dining rooms/bar have nice atmosphere. Small double room very small for 2 people, with very little space. Hairdryer but no mirror (?). Shower mat mouldy and needs to be thrown away or replaced.
Breakfast. Service was very slow. Food ok but limited choice. Cheap thin sliced bread for toast, expected better quality for price paid.
- Ann (10/5): Great - Great room, great food, excellent location. Nothing.
- Liz (10/5): - Perfect location and loved everything about our stay
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Karin (7/5): -
- Clive (8/5): -
- Neil (7/5): Staff excellent, food and beverage facilities very good. - Great character Room was a little small
- Gregor (8/5): A comfortable stay - we would visit again. - Breakfast was good. (The limited choices suited us well.) Room was comfortable and bathroom spacious. Bar was a pleasant area with reasonably priced drinks and the inn overall seemed well maintained and tidy. Disappointed evening meal was not available. Only realised this after booking. Entrance to car park could have clearer signage.k
- Kate (5/5): A country pub with room for improvement - Friendly staff and couldn’t do enough to help.
The breakfast was good.
The bed was comfortable and the sheets crisp! It was a bit scruffy. The room lacked facilities. No toiletries in the bathroom, the floor in the bathroom was coming up and there was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom
- Jenny (9/5): -
- rebecca (7/5): We loved our stay and would recommend this hotel. - The staff are SO lovely and so helpful. They gave us loads of recommendations and were always there when we had a question. Breakfast was also lovely, and you could tell it had been made fresh. Would have preferred a few more vegetarian options, although this seems like a common theme across the Cotswolds!
- Alastair (9/5): - Nice bar and excellent breakfast, attentive staff. Good value stay. Our sink waste was leaking and as it's next to the main road so it can get a little noisy ( they do have secondary glazing)
- Carol (8/5): -
- Spencer (8/5): Great stay and staff were lovely - Great location. Menu choice limited
- Merv (9/5): -
- paul (8/5): Handy place for the Cotswolds - Very quaint Nothing
- Noemi (6/5): Lovely location, missing major essentials maybe not fully refurbished - Location Lack of lights in bedroom, no lights in bedside table no stand up lights only ceiling lights and one switch for the whole room to halogen type of ceiling lights. No bathroom window, no bath. Expensive food for quality.
- William (8/5): Very very good - Clean rooms great staff couldn’t do enough The only issue was an unexciting menu , Sunday lunch was superb
- Yuliia (9/5): It was a lovely stay. Staff is friendly and welcoming, and the room is clean and cosy - Location, cleanliness, staff, and facilities Breakfast was alright
- Peter (9/5): -
- Jon (9/5): One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in - Great location and facilities. Very accommodating with our dog. Staff so friendly and helpful Nothing not to like
- Behan (9/5): -
- John (9/5): This will be our first choice accommodation when we visit the Cotswolds in the future - Good selection at breakfast and catered for all our needs, nothing was too much trouble and served with a smile. Dinner choice was excellent, all home cooked using the using the best ingredients and good size portions.
Huge comfortable bed with proper linen sheets, bathroom very spacious with large walk in shower and bath tub. Portable air conditioning unit to help cooling the room when needed, tea making facilities and TV in room
All in all a delightful Inn with typical Cotswold features, lovely garden terrace and ample free parking on site
- sandra.jones57@btinternet.com (4/5): Extremely Disappointed! - We decided to move to another hotel as this hotel was very disappointing! There was a party going on g in which we had been made aware of but were told it was between 5 and 7 pm. It was ‘free drinks’ for the locals as new owners had taken over. We accepted that but after 8 a live band started playing! The room was very small and ‘tired’. It felt grubby. We decided not to stay and went to another hotel. The condition of the room and bathroom
- Yvonne (8/5): Good overnight stay in one of the other rooms. - Bar and restaurant were good. Staff pleasant. The room was very small and uncomfortable for 2 people. It really is only for a single person. No where to put an overnight bag, stubbing toes on bed castors, hanging clothes on a peg like hanger. Bathroom was a good size. It did say it was a snug room but didn’t realise how snug.
- David (10/5): A really nice pub in the Cotswolds - The room was very comfortable, staff cheerful and very helpful and they were so kind to organise the onward shipment of a jumper that got left behind. Hope to do a return visit soon. No problems
- Danielle (9/5): -
- Asena (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful, location was great, breakfast had a lot of options.
- Steven (8/5): - Great location
- Joanna (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): A good base in a very interesting area - Staff were excellent and The breakfast was good Poached eggs were served solid!
- Sam (10/5): - Super friendly and accommodating staff, lovely food. Very clean and spacious room.
- Martin (10/5): It was a lovely few days in a very picturesque location - Beautiful and charming Everything was perfect
- Michael (9/5): Very comfortable - History Nil
- Nicholas (3/5): Better hotels for the price - The coffee was nice and strong . At breakfast there is a choice of 2 items full English or salmon and eggs - salmon had grey tinges and the brioche bun was cold.sausage was burnt .need to offer more variety.
No welcome from staff on arrival , very haphazard throughout stay.the room was small but in desperate need of a dust and a good hoovering.no toilet roll holder in bathroom just placed on cistern behind.
It is marketed as a 4 star but unsure how it got this rating , very overpriced for what it offers.
- Daniel (8/5): - Location was brilliant for what we wanted to see. The ceiling in the room has traces of black mould on the ceiling by the dressing table. The room had no shower gel & we had to ask for it.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very pleasant and would consider staying again - The room was pleasant and we were able to open the window to allow fresh into the room
The food was good
And the staff were very friendly and willing to help if needed The bed was quite firm and not terribly comfortable and there was a lot of dust lying on the lamps and headboard and also a lot of cobwebs hanging above the bed
- Angela (7/5): We had a nice stay once the room warmed up! - The staff were efficient and breakfast was good. The Inn is situated in a decent location for visiting the Cotswolds. It was late November and very cold when we stayed, so I would have expected that the staff would have made sure the bedroom/bathroom were suitably warm for our arrival. On inspection, we discovered the bathroom radiator was turned off and it was freezing in there ! Then when we ran a bath in order to ‘thaw out’ we found the cold tap would not turn on!!
- Katie (6/5): Disappointing after a lovely stay a few years ago. - Nice rooms and breakfast was good It’s locked until 3 so if you arrive early you can’t get in. Not very welcoming , the restaurant is not open every night and the one night we ate there it wasn’t very good. Not so much as a biscuit in the room or treat for the dog. Wi-Fi didn’t work in our room. All felt as if saving money was the main aim not the guest.
- Mark (8/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): Lovely would definitely stay again. - Very welcoming, clean room and good food.
Dinner and breakfast was great. Room was a little too warm.
- Amie (8/5): -
- Nigel (10/5): -
- Geoffrey (8/5): -
- Ian (10/5): -
- Mark (7/5): Pleasant place to stay in a good location for Blenheim Palace - Good service by front of house staff The speed of food was a little slow. I think they were under-staffed by 1 chef.
- Vicki (8/5): -
- Chanel Vanessa (5/5): -
- Mariasole (9/5): -
- Elspeth (10/5): -
- Steve (8/5): Very enjoyable - The staff were very friendly and helpful Nothing
- John (8/5): A nice place to stay, but rooms are expensive. - Lovely place and surroundings are beautiful. It could do with a little updating, and if you’re looking for Wi-Fi, you could be sorely disappointed. The breakfast menu is very limited and Service slightly lacking in this area.
- Suzi (10/5): - Supberb location in a beautiful quiet village. Really friendly staff and a lovely beer garden to sit and relax. The evening meal was delicious and good value for money and a plentiful breakfast set us up for the day ahead. The bedroom was small but cosy with a good size ensuite and a really comfy bed. I'd certainly recommend this pub as a great place to stay if you want somewhere to stay in peace and quiet and without the noise of the surrounding busy towns. Nothing
- Christine (9/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Visited 12/09/2025 for a one night stay. We cannot faulg this lovely hotel. Hattie and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. What a gem of a place in the beautiful Cotswolds 😍 🤩 Would absolutely 💯 return. Great hotel, amazing food. Great location for us for our trip. Thank you all so much. ❤️ 😍 xx
- Berni (8/5): -
- Susan (7/5): Great location and staff but needs upgrade - The location is great for the Farmer's Dog pub, Blenheim Palace and lots of other things to do. Room was a good size and large bed. Dog friendly and good size garden. Staff were very helpful, friendly and pleasant. The room needs some repairs and refreshing. The bathroom tap dripped. Toilet seat worn. Towel radiator was red hot permanently so you felt you were walking into a sauna. Did keep the towels warm though. Plastic tumblers for making a drink which was odd as expect a cup and saucer or mug.
Breakfast was average as no fruit or alternative for someone who was not wanting a cooked breakfast. It just lacked choice and you had to order croissants etc which I would have expected those to be available to pick up. It just didn't compare to previous places we have stayed with better breakfast choices and nicer rooms for less money.
- Elena (5/5): Not the place for us, too noisy - Nice enough meal in the pub. Very noisy, didn’t sleep at all (room 2) due to noise from pub below, noise from the room above (it sounded like they were moving furniture until 2am) noise from the beer garden. The decor was all slightly tired & feels like it needs a bit of a revamp.
- Rebecca (9/5): Would highly recommend for short stays and I’m sure we had the best room (2) Will definitely stay again if in the area - The room and bathroom were great size. The bed was incredibly comfortable and pillows were great and plentiful. Everything in the room you could need including plenty of refreshments, fresh milk flask, a place to put muddy boots, hairdryer and spare bedding. Staff were chatty and attentive from checkin-in, dinner service and breakfast. Food was great and good selection of drinks. Had a really good sleep Slight criticisms but not affecting our stay would be towel rail was hot and wouldn’t turn off, no means of washing hair when in the bath but there is a separate shower. It’s an old building so expect cobwebs and spiders in the corridors.
- Emma (10/5): We had a wonderful 3-night stay. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the one evening meal we had was just as good. T - A traditional old pub that has been beautifully renovated, managing to feel fresh while still staying true to the character and history of the building. Nothing
- Richard (8/5): Very comfortable - Food was good.
Great room, clean and comfortable.
Friendly staff. Limited choice (2) for breakfast.
- Rory (9/5): Excellent location, clean room and super friendly staff. - Room was a good size and the bathroom was large and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had several meals during our stay and they were all delicious and reasonably priced - the flapjack provided in our room upon check in was also very nice. Car park was large and easily accessible. Would definitely stay again! Road noise from cars during the night as a little loud but that can't be helped.
- Nicky (10/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Lovely welcoming staff, very clean and comfortable, we had a fabulous stay - Lovely hotel Nothing
- Brian (9/5): -
- elsey (8/5): -
- ROBERT (7/5): Nice hotel and friendly staff but room was a disappointment and could have been cleaner - Nice location and friendly staff. Room was quite small and some cobwebs on ceiling. Curtains were ripped along bottom edge which gave the room a worn out feeling.
- SALLY (8/5): Very enjoyable with excellent customer service which is so good to experience. - The staff especially on the Wednesday were fabulous. Very friendly, efficient and professional. The room was as explained, small but had everything you needed and clean. Breakfast was good. The evening meal vegetarian option was a little disappointing. But then again, I like simple food so may be more about me. My husband enjoyed his burger. The sweets were too expensive for us.
- Robert (8/5): Good for our needs - Friendly atmosphere
- Matteo (10/5): - Location molto carina, personale super disponibile e sorridente. Abbiamo anche mangiato al ristorante ed era tutto eccezionale.
- Frances (6/5): Could have been excellent. - We had a lovely room and fab bathroom Beds were comfy, all good. Toilet roll in bathroom had not been replaced, only small amount left on roll. No spare in cupboard or room so we had take a roll from the lounge toilet in the morning or we would have run out
We waited 90 minutes from ordering to recieiving our breakfast as did another table. No apology until food was delivered, no explanation. The toast I believe was frozen bread.
- Rick (9/5): Excellent little inn - Absolutely amazing place, staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful, roast dinner on a Sunday is awesome! Great little place to visit the Cotswolds, and right between Diddly squat farm and the farmers dog pub. Good walks around there too...
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Fiona (10/5): Would contemplate another stay. - We had an evening meal and breakfast - both were superb. Beer Garden is very pretty and they were very dog friendly - the little fella got a sausage of his own at breakfast! Great location to explore the Cotswolds.
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): - Needs a little attention
- Kevin (7/5): Pleasant, a little pricey but a little disappointing in some areas. - Room and bar areas were nice and welcoming. staff were friendly and courteous. Location is good. Food was generally ok, but with a couple of disappointing aspects (see below). Small aspects of service were a little lacking A request for a packed/takeaway breakfast was acknowledged but then only bottles of fruit juice and small packets of cereal were actually available. The so called "continental" breakfast did not include hams or cheese, only cereal. But the cooked breakfast option was ok. . Although the food was nice, on one occasion a gammon steak was ordered but it appeared that it was the last, small piece and it appeared that the chef tried to disguise this by half filling the plate with rocket salad. For £20 this was poor value.
- Julie (7/5): Great little pub - Lovely little pub. Nice room and location. Staff were excellent, helpful, and friendly. A fridge in the room would have been good. As being dog friendly, I needed somewhere to keep dog food cool.
The food was ok but not a great choice as it was so hot when we stayed and didn't see any salads, pastas etc
We ended up just staying one night, although booked for three as it was so hot.
- Simon (10/5): Anniversary break - Friendly professional staff
Clean
Excellent food
Highly recommend
- Iris (10/5): - Great location for us staying at Diddley Squat Farm. Parking was easy and the gardens were very pretty. The check out desk isn't open until 8 am, however, if you are aiming for an early departure.
- Emma (10/5): - Lovely staff who made us feel very welcoming . The room was super clean , bed was very comfy and the breakfast was wonderful. Was worth every penny , thank you 😊
- Andrew (9/5): Comfortable, relaxed - Clean Comfortable, nice garden, nice staff, very nice food.
- Tina (8/5): - Great location, evening food ok, breakfast slow and average. Room was tired and hot.
Bathroom has no ventilation, dirty towel, broken tile in shower, dripping tap, floor felt as though there had been a leak so was rotting, and smelt of mold. Other rooms may of been better so can’t comment on them, but this was allegedly the luxury room!!
Stains on curtains and duvet cover, plastic mugs with no handles for the tea/coffee tray and they were dirty and grubby. No toiletries in the bathroom apart from one half used shower gel . I could go on but you get the drift.
The downstairs pub restaurant was nice.
In summary , location was really good but I wouldn’t stay here again.
- Rianne (4/5): - Horrendous breakfast. Eggs were like play dough l. Poor staff service on Sunday morning. A very average stay.
- Justjandb (9/5): Lovely Inn with great food and service - The pub was furnished to a really high standard and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room and food were excellent so nothing to complain about at all. Thank you to all at the Wychwood Inn There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Oliwia (10/5): Very relaxing stay - Friendly and helpful staff, couldn't do more for you, very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was lovely, the outdoor areas were also very pretty! Nothing to comment
- Robert (8/5): Great stay, very pleasant accommodation - Friendly service, good foods, comfortable rooms
- Jayne (7/5): Very nice staff but very small rooms. - Location with lots of parking.
Bar onsite with a good breakfast. Very small rooms, couldn’t even open our suitcases. Very warm as no ac.
- Doug (10/5): - This was a good central location in The Cotswolds to explore from if you have an automobile. Nice, comfortable room. Really good restaurant on site and nice grounds to enjoy (although the weather did not allow that experience).
- Rosie (9/5): Superb -
- William (8/5): Very good - Olde worlds pub…nice food….. real ale… staff friendly and helpful and a good choice of food for breakfast
What’s not too like
- Scott (8/5): Great for a short break - Staff were lovely and welcoming. Room very comfortable. Restaurant/bar closed on the second night.
