Guest Reviews
- Cheryll (6/5): -
- Di (4/5): A very poor and depressing accomodation. - The best thing was that I was able to cancel the second night and that I got my money back. The whole place is run down.
The room is not worth more than 500 Pesos.
- Nathalie (1/5): -
- Stavros (7/5): -
- HasMood (3/5): - The views rom the accommodation. The property sell a bit of a lie regarding the location of the property as it is quite far away and difficult to reach the enchanted river from here. It was not easy to find and some scamming locals on the way to reach the accommodation. The staff didn't even know I had a booking despite contacting them over Booking.com several times and you had to pay for WIFI in a place you receive no coverage which wasn't helpful. Also the breakfast was not great at all.. Overall, I can't really see any reason to stay here.
- Alex (4/5): Low fidelity (only for short stopover) - Beautiful location with rapid access to Enchanted River. A peaceful place for letting behind the chaotic urban life No electricity and WiFi during mid-day, no shower available (only a bucket of water with a scoop), the bathroom has a size of 1 qm with manual toilet flush, despite the fish availability the restaurant does not serve good fish dishes etc. Big transportation problems for surrounding areas if you didn't reserve a private taxi
- N.A. (8/5): -
- axel (8/5): - anorlunda upplevelse, " mini Alcatraz" med cool resturang också på egen pålad ö med bra mat och full bar. om du letar efter ett high end resort, så är inte det här för dig, men och andra sidan får du här precis allt du betalat för.
- Jemallyn (8/5): - Unique because the place is on the top of rocks.
- Jobson (6/5): - Inland and love the people who work at the enchanted river rock The room the food to small
- Ompoc (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (8/5): Loved the location. Incredible . People were so friendly. Great experience - Location was stunning Water shortage to showers
- John (5/5): Staff great accommodation NOT!!! - Quietness Outdated! power outage bed not comfortable no hot water!
- Dennis (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tyrone (10/5): - This is one of the best resorts that I have ever had the pleasure to stay; the people are nice and friendly; I highly recommend
- Mark (7/5): Good - nice and clean, good for family bonding.
the receptionist was really friendly and accomodating. the provided soap in our room was too watery (liquid soap + water).
foods at their restaurant was ok but the people serving, i think they are not really train as a waitresses.
- JAMES J (2/5): - I booked thru expedia, paid in full for 4 double room for me and my family. Website is not ear about the resorts including transportation. We arrived there via small boat.the front desk is not aware of our booking .they gave us the 8 person room instead of the actual preferred room of choice. The room they gave us is terrible. Toilet has no toilet seat. Walls of bathroom has holes. There is no shower. Toilet has no flush. Drain from the sink is just going to the floor. No wifi. I have pictures of their room bec i feel being robbed of what i paid for. Even the cheapest hotel is better than this resort can offer.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - Everything None
- Jun (9/5): ENCHANTING! - I love its proximity to the Enchanted River. And how everyone was so helpful and welcoming. From the owner, to the staff, the boatmen. And even the local villagers! It felt like coming “home”. Richard (the owner) accommodated our every request. Even driving us from one end of Surigao del Sur to the other all in a day! Special mention to Lovelove and Belen (Babylyn). Lovelove arranged our daily activities/itinerary and attended to us at the restaurant. Babylyn made sure our room was clean and clearly informed us of the water supply situation at the resort. And the surrounding waters of the rock island…crystal clear! Nothing really. Yes, the room amenities were spartan. But the resort never claimed “five star” amenities. You come here to be one with nature and immerse yourself in the local vibe.
- Charles (10/5): Great experience spending a day and a night on a tropical island resort. - Nice and quiet. Surrounded by the ocean, food was great! The pizza was exceptionally good. Swimming around the island as an added bonus. The owners are very friendly. Nothing
- Abner (7/5): Good -
- Jos (9/5): Paradise island - Location and view is fantastic, looks like paradise, personel very helpfull and friendly, good food. Richard is friendly host. WiFi not to much strong, but maybe thats normal because in the middle of the sea.
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Benina (9/5): Superb -
- Jace (10/5): Amazing - It’s a beautiful island
The restaurant and bar at the end of the pier is amazing
The owner Richard is very welcoming and helpful with sight seeing destinations in the area.
I would highly recommend to visit and stay there
- Mary Ann (8/5): - My rate for this place is pleasing only because, it was brownout. No electricity in the Island. Management should take care of the Generator. This is a beautiful place, there is a plan for more beautification of the resort per the owner Mr. Smith,Rich that I meet with his Filipino wife. They are very kind couple and the staffs were amazing. We booked 1 night because is very near to Enchanted River. There are so many Hidden beautiful beach resorts near by that traveler should check it out. This is not a 5 star hotel & please don't expect to much, you are in the small island surrounded with water, and no credit card, everything here is cash, but the rate for the money to stay here is affordable and worth it if you want an adventure. lastly, we have a free breakfast. In the future I would love to go back.Thank you so much guys and nice to meet you all!
- Haze-allan (10/5): The place is very nice although their on the process of renovating. Staff are very good. - The place is nice and the staff are very good. None
- Brian (8/5): Very good - Good food & accommodating staff. The view from the restaurant was outstanding! The enchanted river tour was beautiful. Currently working on improvements for a new walkway. No hot shower or flushing toilet.
- Kenneth (9/5): Great time, get the island tour - Richard the owner is a real personal friendly stand up guys 🙂. The Filipino bathroom, but that's where I am
- Richard (10/5): Actually the cleanest hotel I have seen in the provinces. Awesome pizza. Very peaceful bay area. - The Seafoods and Sunrise, Views, clear water definitely the highlights. The 5 pesos wifi was ok, but there was an hour brown out. A few foreigners also staying here, so it was fun. Overall, a very safe and peaceful vaca, just what we wanted! THe CR was very simple. Not quite used to a bucket. :-) The cell signal was only ok from the Reception area, and the pier. And the piso Wifi at reception and restaurant was ok but slow. We had to wait for a boat about thirty minutes late.
- Anthos (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at Rock Island Resort. Short boat taxi ride to a little island paradise. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Short distance boat taxi to the the Enchanted River. This resort was so relaxing and calm. Just what we needed. I would recommend to anyone needing a nice getaway and enjoy the beauty of the Philippines.
- jorge (10/5): - Very nice 👍 location, very quiet, very nice restaurant
- DR. GERALD A. (6/5): - The property is an island so access is thru a banca that charge Php 200 per way. You park your car at the Barangay where a tanod will look after it (for a fee). The room is small, bed and mattress are uncomfortable, bathroom is small, has no hot shower, not even a place to hang your clothes, but with free basic toiletries. Aircon however is adequate, but electricity is unreliable. Free breakfast is OK with danggit (makunat), hotdog, egg, rice, coffee or Milo. Lunch or dinner however is quite pricey and not much choice of food. There are small floating outdoor cottages but the beach is uninviting and is full of sea weeds. The resort is near the Enchanted River and Sibadan Fish Cage for close encounter with Brenda the Manta ray. The American owner (a one-time basketball player) is unsociable. There were only a few guests, maybe because tourism is still opening up.
- Aiza (4/5): - Nice place to stay, but disappointed some of the staff in restaurant not really must be friendly to the guest....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This Resort is super clean and the staff is friendly. But go for the peace and ocean views, sunrise, snorkling...so cool!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Liked the fish. Some of the food was good. The staff was terrible. Treated us poorly until the owner showed up and they were a little nicer. Staff charged us substantially more for meals then the owner. Same meal different price. Probably putting the extra in their pockets. Also staff was going to charge more for the boat rides and life jackets then what the actual charge was. The staff was not good. I had my fiancé and some her family go here for a few days for some relaxation. They weren’t expecting a lavishly fancy place. But it would have been nice for them to be treated good by a friendly staff. Probably won’t ever go here again. Going to try Britannia next time we visit Mindanao. I haven’t been to this area of the Philippines yet. But if my Filipino family wasn’t impressed I’m sure I wouldn’t be either.
- Di (10/5): - It is an excellent place to relax and temporarily free yourself from stress. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property’s location is beautiful and unique, built on a small island just a short boat ride away from the famous Enchanted River. It’s almost like staying on a ship or yacht, with a restaurant and long pier built over the coral reef extending from the island.
Great value for your money.
Rooms are simple and small. The bathroom has no toilet flush, and water needs to be poured into the toilet from a side bucket (Filipino style, that many international tourists find difficult to get used to). Anyhow, the purpose of this location is to spend time outside of the room.
- Marc (6/5): - Bathroom without warm water and small toilet without reservoir !!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I stayed here in March with my fiance and again last week.
It is a very beautiful hidden gem in the Orient and a bargain.
The fried garlic peanuts are wonderful as are the staff.
She had fish and I had curry chicken, amazing food
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff .. we had problems initially with our confirmed hotels.com reservation due to delayed communications from hotels.com to the resort that almost left us without a room, but the resort accommodated us graciously. Great small island rustic resort as long as one does not expect more than basic lodging facilities and amenities. Make sure to contact resort directly before you arrive to ensure your reservation and further instructions for getting there.
- Kirsten Joy (8/5): Enjoyed Rock Island - We did enjoy our stay. Food is ok and affordable. We enjoyed their service especially in assisting us for the island hopping tour. They are very accomodating especially when we request for glass and coke. Need improvement in the CR.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Family Bonding @ ROCK Island Resort - Nice place, foods are good, well-accommodated staffs, air is fresh and very solemn place except communication signal is weak, no WIFI and no TV in the room.
- Jocimaconro (10/5): Peace and quite - The best getaway place for the family
- DBCooper (10/5): - Food good and not pricey but misleading. A sign for Shakes CLEARLY says 60 PHP but inside the restaurant ANOTHER sign says 70 PHP.
Very nice manager, the ladyboy servers were so-so in the restaurant, actually rude to my lady.
They said breakfast was at 6:30 and not 6 am.
So she went to the buffet intended for the Muslim conference and got us a plate.
One morning we were not served coffee and eggs, they said they did not have any.
Yeah sure
The next day coffee and eggs were included.
This place despite restaurant issues was indeed amazing.
It takes a boat to get there from the enchanted river.
150 PHP about $3 USD
Island Hopping for 2 was 500 PHP.
I swam with a shark and Stingray for only 20 PHP (about 20 USA Cents!)
I cannot wait for the Zipline to come through.
I will be back because this place is magical, well kept and very beautiful!
- Verified traveler (4/5): The place was overrated - The place was overrated, there are other hostels in Hinatuan town proper that can give comfort and ease with a much lower price. The staff were not so accomodating and approachable (except for the personnels in their restaurant)
I would not recommend this place especially if you’re only staying overnight and has plans visiting Enchanted River and other tourist spots for the whole day.
P.S. this resort is a boat ride away from Enchanted River, one way ride cost P150 good for 5pax. So imagine the additional costs if you’re travelling alone or has only 2-3pax in your group.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great experience,
only issue was rhat they had wifi but so slow it could never be used.
