- thu (2/5): - BIG SCAM, DONT BE FOOLED!! When we arrived at the hotel, it looked very small and enclosed, we were having second thoughts. And as soon as we walked in, the lobby reeked of a filthy smell, the guest couch had tears and the paint was peeling off the wall. Instead of a door mat, there was a dirty white bath towel laying on the floor scrunched up. Staff seemed to be nice and helpful at first but then started their scam, apparently something was wrong with our room and we couldn't stay there. (Mind you this was around 1 am and we had 2 tired children as we just came back from a roadtrip). They then proceeded to rebook us at their other hotels in their net without permission and acted like it was our fault there was something wrong with the room we booked. When we went to their other hotel, the rooms and location were even worse so we returned to Trang Trang Premium Hotel to which the staff refused to refund us, after an hour of persuasion, they finally agreed to refund us but at the loss of %7 to commission and had kept urging us to cancel our booking before refunding us while acting like they were the victim. By the time we left the hotel, all other surrounding hotels were full and had no vacancy. The manager is unwilling to resolve the problem and staff are money hungry and ready to scam us! Don't waste your money and save your time!

WE had a good time in Hanoi including visiting the night markets, train street and the water puppet show. The room had a good view of Hoan Kiem lake. I would have given 5 stars if not for the room size and bathroom taking a long time to clear the water after a shower.
- Ajith (2/5): Very Grubby - The Hotel taxi didnt turn up !!! So we took a Grab taxi which was half the price the hotel wanted. The rooms and hotel did not look like in the photos, Very grubby ans tired. The balcony was the size of a small shower tray. We paid extra for a balcony with a view of the lake. Needless to say no view. They then tried to bill us more than what we agreed with Hotels.com. We moved to another hotel. They have billed my credit card. So trying to get money back for that

- Joseph (4/5): Disappointed - Sadly, Trang Trang has gone downhill since i stayed in 2018. I was excited to arrive, but was instantly let down. Chipped paint and a poorly maintained lobby appearance was a hint. Then, we were not given the room we paid for. I pointed this out, and was told repeatedly that it was the "same class" of room. They insisted it was the same size although I reminded them I had previously stayed in the other rooms of the hotel. So this was clearly untrue.I noted that you can see the square footage of the rooms on the app. Finally, they told me a guest was already staying in the room I booked. Also, the room we stayed in was cramped and aging with chipped and yellowing paint. The bathroom was absurdly small and uncomfortable and the bidet had a significant leak that kept the floor wet. I withdraw my previous recommendation and agree with the current negative opinions. Stay at San Grand across the street. It is better by far.

- Adrian (6/5): Nice Hotel on a busy street - Great location in the heart of the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Stayed in the week leading up to Tet and it was the perfect location. Room was simple but comfortable. There is a rooftop bar but if it’s windy and cold give it a miss

They were very well worn. With just a little effort, it could be a 10 facility. The location was excellent, near everything you could possibly want and the staff went above and beyond making sure we have everything we needed. I would definitely stay again, if I ever came back to Hanoi!

- Tony (10/5): - Staying here made my trip most enjoyable.. Philip, Tracey and the rest of the staff made it a pleasure to stay at Trang Trang. I could not thank them all enough. The location of the hotel is so central making it a breeze to get around the city. The room itself is clean, bed is comfortable and have the amenities required. Room size perfect for one person, however they also have larger rooms if travelling as a couple or group. Also breakfast is included.. and the offering is suffice.. you can have local foods or have them make you a eggs on order. If you are interested in doing day or overnight tours... just have a chat to Philip he will be able to sort you out. If I return to Hanoi I will definitely be going back to Trang Trang Premium Hotel to stay. Tony
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a beautifully renovated French style hotel. For $25. It is a great deal. However, the a/c struggles to put out any cool air. The neighborhood is loud and strewn with trash. Probably somewhere I would have stayed when I was in my 20’s. Definitely not bringing my wife.
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect and budget friendly - This hotel was FANTASTIC. It was our first time in Hanoi and the staff could not have been more helpful- gave us a local map and showed us different locations we could take a trip to, food recommendations etc. For the price of the hotel we were not expecting much but it completely blew us away. Breakfast was included and was fab - varied buffet type breakfast with lots of choice. The room was very modern with a comfy bed, TV, minibar, hanging space for clothes and free toiletries The rooms are on the small side but perfect fine for a couple. You'll see in Hanoi this is quite normal and a lot of buildings are on the narrow side. The location was fab too, we came in quiet season and they upgraded us to a lake view room with a view of Hoàn Kiem Lake which was perfect Cannot recommend this place enough :)

The bed was quite large, however the room was rather small. It wouldn't fit any large luggage. If you are a backpacker, this looks like a fine balance between location, comfort and price.

- David (10/5): Great Value. Excellent location. Hospitable. - Excellent location old town Hanoi. Family run very hospitable. Very clean. Breakfast great. Only downside is City Tour that they recommended ended up more of a four stop shopping tour. I did let them know so that they could recommend a different company in the future. Great value for money.

- Keith (4/5): Not the best - Where do I start. Staff friendly except manager who is rude. Clean but very small rooms. We were on the 5th floor and the lift wasn’t in operation for 3 days. Up and down very steep and winding stairs very difficult. It should have been a priority for the hotel to get it working but it didn’t seem so. I asked the manager why it’s still not working and he just said “walk” and turned his back on me. No hot water for shower for two days just added to the problem. 2 tables for breakfast is all they have room for.

- Melissa (10/5): Great stay at Trang Trang - Our stay at Trang Trang was great! It’s in a great part of the old quarter, really close to good restaurants and bars. The rooms are small ish, but it was a good size for us. Anne at the front desk was absolutely amazing! She helped book a great trip to Sapa for us and took care of everything. The service here was 5 Star, so so helpful. Would stay here over and over if I could.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel in Hanoi Old Town - Booked a room with balcony but the chairs and table at the balcony is dusty and dirty. Room is nice and big, reasonably clean. Location of the hotel is great, within 5 min walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, plenty of of local food and restaurant around. A bit noisy in the morning as the street is a local market, activities starts early. Reception very efficient and manager Mr. Pon has been very helpful with information of surrounding local restaurants, good street food.

It is small but in perfect location to old quarter and walking distance to a lot of shopping and restaurants. The staff was absolutely amazing. We only stayed for one night as we traveled to halong bay the next day but when we returned they were very helpful in sorting out flight issues and arranging for taxi to airport. Breakfast was also great! Hotel room was small. We booked a room but it had no windows ended up upgrading and paid extra but that was alright we had the window but had the shades so it didn’t make much difference! Best part also they had an elevator!
- Lorenzo (6/5): - Well located and fairly priced hotel, right in the middle of the old quarter. Staff was friendly and the hotel was overall clean. We had an issue in two different room where the toilet broke so that caused some inconvenience, my guess is that the building’s pipes are quite old.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good software, crappy hardware - not worth it - Firstly, front desk service was great, guys and gals were helpful - thank you so much. Good location (although I could say the same for any of the dozens of hotels within 5 mins walk). Lousy hotel condition - fixtures loose, moldy shower, hot water kettle doesn't fit power sockets, bathroom glass partitions loose and about to fall apart, telephone didn't work, safe didn't work, no "lake view" even with their best room. Breakfast was day-old juice, some dried out bread, and (fortunately) decent pho served at the two small tables next to front desk; guests shouldn't even bother trying - just get a real Viet-style breakfast somewhere else in the area. Fortunately, water was strong, hot and didn't stink of chlorine. Air con weak but did the job. Wifi fast and stable. The problem - unbelievably shabby construction quality. The materials looked to be of decent quality, but put together by a blind, infirm monkey. This is a case of good software trying its best to compensate for lousy hardware. Ultimately, I didn't feel that it was at all worth the USD 35 that I paid - there are literally dozens of better quality properties within 5 mins. Nothing outstanding about this property other than the disappointment.
- Nuno (10/5): An awesome hotel in Hanoi old quarter - This is an awesome "boutique-hotel style" in the outskirts of Hanoi old quarter; it is perfectly located in a very charismatic street, walking distance to all the interesting spots in the old quarter, but far enough away from the major night entertainment streets (meaning not a lot of noise from the streets). The staff is very helpful and the rooms are nicely decorated. However, in our room, there was some sort of leakage in the bathroom and every morning we could smell tobacco coming from the bathroom. The hotel is under construction on the upper floors, so it might be from that. Also, it should be clear that the basic rooms do not have windows; not problem from me, but it was not clear on the description of the room. Nevertheless, I would book again the same hotel and room on a return trip to Hanoi.
- Kevin (8/5): OK hotel near lake - Stayed one night after return from sapa Hotel is in middle of weekend night market but quite because I is in a side street Ihe room we were in was small st the front of hotel but was clean with a nice bathroom and we were there for only one night The breakfast wasn't much and they had it in the lobby due to renovations of the breakfast area I was told I enjoyed the area near the lake and the hotel and staff were good
- Tracy (10/5): Very good hotel. - Very good hotel with excellent, friendly and attentive staff. Rooms are comfortable, clean and fast WiFi. The hotel location is very good for Old Quarter walking, sights and close to places of interest and good shopping too. I recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.
- Tracy (10/5): A wonderful place - Wonderful helpful and friendly staff. The location is great and is centrally located with easy walking in the old part of town. Busy street with a very quiet, clean and comfortable room. Decent breakfast choices were included. The hotel has laundry and travel services. This hotel also arranged airport pick up and drop off for a fee. I would recommend this place to friends and family and have returned here as a guest too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful staff, great location, tiny room. - The staff was very friendly and informative and spoke English well. They booked my tour to Ha Long Bay and took care of getting me to a prompt private car to the airport so there was no issue with uncertain fares. In fact the private car was much cheaper than my taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. The location is in amongst the hustle and bustle and CHAOS of the old Town near plenty of street food as well as traditional restaurants. The night market was just a few streets away. The lake was only a min walk, assuming you can get across the street and avoid the multitudes motorscooter. The room was tiny, barely any room to move around. Next time I would book a larger room

- Caitlin (10/5): Lovely Hotel + Great Seevice - Really nice hotel, the staff were lovely and very polite. Great location, walking distance to markets, shopping, food and coffee. The room was really nice, well decorated and had air con. Breakfast was also very good!
- Christopher (8/5): Hanoi Accommodation. - This was my second visit to the Trang Trang Hotel. It was consistent with my first visit. The location is excellent. The room is a little small but given the location and architecture in the area it would be expected. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The room was not as clean as it should have been - second time I observed this. Long strains of black hair on both the bathroom and bedroom floor. The breakfast is limited and average at best. There are lots of eateries in the area. There was some rooftop construction going on throughout the day so a lot of banging. I slept well at night however. The bed was comfortable. I would stay at the Trang Trang Hotel again.
- Lena (8/5): Make sure you get a room with a window. - I had a late check-in by a friendly, polite, English speaking receptionist. My room was small and windowless but super clean, nicely furnished, well fitted out for a small space and bed comfortable. However, for two people or a longer stay than one night, the room would have felt claustrophobic. As with many Vietnamese hotels, sounds carry through easily into the room and there were two small 'windows' high up below the ceiling that let in light from the outside corridor. The biggest drawback for me was a strange, sickly, chemical smell in the room. Couldn't figure out where it came from (maybe the varnish of the dresser??) and since there were no windows, couldn't air it out. Since I only stayed overnight, I didn't bother to change rooms but had I stayed longer, I definitely would have since I even woke up in the night to this smell. Breakfast was your usual choice of a couple of things: omelette, noodle soup, toast.. which was ok. Location is excellent, very close to the night market, lake, puppet theatre, restaurants.. Beware that if you arrive during the weekend when the night market is on, some roads are closed and you may not be able to get a ride all the way to the hotel. All in all, very nice looking and clean place but the smell spoilt it for me
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - Located on a quiet side street in a very busy area of the old quarter, this hotel has everything you need. The staff was amazing, and helpful. my friends stayed at the Hilton, and honestly this place have so much more character despite a few less amenities. I would stay here every time I came to Hanoi.
- Catherine (10/5): Good, proactive service - I had a great stay in this relatively new hotel. The staff were intelligent and helpful, they allowed me to deposit my luggage as check in was only at 2pm, but took my number saying they would call if a room opened up. When I was headed out, there was a heavy downpour and the staff offered me an umbrella. They were proactive to ask if I needed any transport to the airport for the next day. I also enjoyed their rooftop and restaurant that served personalized breakfast. the location was also great being smack in the heart of Old Quarter. Highly recommended. Keep up the good job Trang Trang! (Last tip, I paid more for the deluxe room with city view but it was small, I think the standard rooms were better priced and more spacious.)

The location is ideal for exploring the historic center of the city during the day and experiencing the night life as well.
- Joseph (10/5): We loved Trang Trang. - My friend and I absolutely loved our stay st Trang Trang Hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to make us happy and the hotel is situated in the heart of the city, between nightlife spots and Hoan Kiem lake, with both upscale and local places to visit all around.
