Service was superb! Just a heads up, rooms are above a bar so a bit noisy (expected) until 11:00pm, when all went quiet.

- Simon (9/5): Utterly wonderful stay in a fantastically well decorated pub with lovely food and wonderful staff. - Room was beautiful. Staff were super friendly and very entertaining for dinner. Lovely old pub, decorated beautifully - it showed how good it was by how busy it was. Food was fantastic - including the 'piggy bits' starter! The waiting staff did use a 'doggy bag' to take with us when we couldn't finish it all. Lovely big fire place. This place was nearly a 10 out of 10 so not looking to criticise. The only thing they could change is fractionally bigger 2 person tables!

The taste and look of breakfast was far better than the sound of it: No need to play loud party music at 9 am in the morning, save it for later. Allowing dogs in public spaces has gone a bit too far in certain areas of England. Customers are routinely being asked about food allergies, but how about dog allergies? Would be more welcoming for all humans to have a dog-free pub/restaurant, indoors. Cozy but small room, some shelfs or racks would have been practical.

The manager had me upgraded which was such a lovely treat - the room was massive and had a beautiful free standing bath. Restaurant was fantastic for dinner. Really enjoyed my stay and they were also able to put together a grab and go breakfast for me as well. Would absolutely recommend staying here!

- joanne (9/5): Lovely little pub with rooms - Such a cute room, with lots of old world charm. The bed was so comfortable and the en suite bathroom was modern and clean. Tea, coffee, water provided, with a couple of lovely biscuits. I asked for more teabags and oat milk for the room, which was no trouble. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, waiting staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious (especially the option of smaller puddings). The pub is right in the centre of Winchcombe, a perfect base. We booked last minute and had the last remaining room (Sudeley) which was quite small - there wasn't really anywhere to put clothes. We were only staying for 1 night so it was fine for us. Also there's quite a bit of noise from the bar, but it was very quiet by around 11pm.

The service throughout the stay was very good, and the staff was always friendly, attentive, and willing to help. This made the overall experience very pleasant and comfortable. The only minor downside was that there was no dedicated parking on site. However, there is public parking in the village very close by, which costs less than £2 per day, so it was not a major issue.

They go above and beyond to be helpful. Room was comfortable, had everything you needed and it was warm. My room was over the bar so a little noisy, but I was working in there and everything went quiet at 11pm, so I think that's perfectly acceptable.

- Kimberly (8/5): Great place to stay. - The husband and wife that run it are really nice. He helped us with our heavy bags to our room. The beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and served very quickly. Our room didn't have A/C, but we couldn't leave the windows or doors open because it was right on the patio, people were sitting about 2 feet from our door.

- MICHAEL (9/5): Great pub in Winchcombe no - A really lovely Cotswolds pub, friendly and super helpful staff. Alderton is a small room, not much storage for your things in room and bathroom with a very low door entry and dangerous door closing arm sticking out into the room at eye once inside.
- Helena (10/5): The ultimate Cotswolds stay! - The staff went above and beyond and were so friendly. We arrived late at night and they made sure we had dinner and even upgraded our room. If you are in the Cotswolds area and want to experience an unforgettable weekend make sure you stay here! We are truely so grateful for our wonderful time there- what a gem! - clare (7/5): Cosy and very traditional - Lovely cosy little pub. We stayed one night and had dinner and breakfast. The staff are lovely and took time to call in advance of our stay and advise us about parking and book us a table for dinner. The food was lovely and the restaurant was very busy with a great atmosphere Our room was very nicely decorated. A lot of thought had gone into to the style. There were almost too many trinkets about the main pub, bar and our bedroom. It was verging on being cluttered. Items like clocks and pot plants on tables and window sills made it hard to access and easy to knock stuff over. I saw this in the bar where people’s coats knocked the table flowers off. And in our room I needed to move plants to open the blinds and access windows. Trouble being all the surfaces already had other trinkets, so these lovely things ended up on the floor. The building however is very very old. And sound travels. Which is fine if you are a heavy sleeper. But as a light sleeper, I found the noise from the pub (music in the evening until 11:30 and loud Christmas songs + hoovering in the morning from 7am) stopped me getting my 8 hours sleep and damaged the charm of the experience for me. As a gauge, in the morning, we could hear the music from the bar from 7:30 and it was louder and clearer than the sound from the tv in our room. It’s a bit of a shame that I’ve had to write anything negative about this pub. But don’t book to stay here if you need a decent nights sleep.

- Tom (8/5): Excellent! - The best pub in the village by a long shot! Great staff, all very attentive and nice to chat to. Food was great, a bit on the pricey side and lacking in veggie options. A nice atmosphere in the pub with a nice big fire at its heart. The room was clean and well presented. We were given a choice when we checked in and opted for the smaller room with less noise. Had a great sleep and then sat by the fire for our inclusive breakfast. Highly recommended. Lacking in veggie options on the menu. Slightly pricey.

Staff were very polite and knowledgable about the menu. We stayed overnight in the Hailes suite which was gorgeous. Again warm and cosy, comfortable bed and standalone bath. Breakfast was in the bar area. Again great food, lots of choices. We opted for the vegetarian breakfast which was amazing. It's not so much that we didn't like, but we had a fairly lengthy wait for Breakfast. It was a very busy service, but only one person front of house taking all of the orders, delivering food to tables and serving tea and coffee, as well as dealing with walk ins. The service would have benefitted from someone else working front of house as well I think.

Das Personal war weitestgehend freundlich. Wir bekamen einen Drink geschenkt bei der Ankunft.

It is close to Shelley castle and a short drive to Broadway (20 minutes) and Morton in the Marsh (25 minutes) and Cheltenham (20 minutes). The bed was very comfy, the staff friendly and the food was very good.

Je moet je e-mail adres opgeven en dan wordt je meteen lastig gevallen met marketing. Schimmel in de badkamer, vooral de douche. Je moet aangeven als je de kamer schoongemaakt wilt hebben ipv andersom.

- Elizabeth (5/5): Not as good as in the past. - Convenient for the racecourse It was unfortunate that there was a continuous noise from a fan in the roof which everyone seemed to be aware out and it had not been fixed despite technical engineers looking at it. This led to two nights of very disturbed sleep.

The menu choice is focused, allowing really good food to be freshly prepared and served with care and pride. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Our room was above the bar area, so there was a bit of noise (music). However, this dissipated by about 10.30 and definitely didn't spoil our stay.

- Haya (9/5): - The room was very nice and they took care in all details, water, tea quality in the room was good. The breakfast and the staff were amazing and the pub was very beautiful. There was a humming noise, like a transformer or a fridge, that kept running all time. I couldn’t tell where it was coming from, but I couldn’t sleep because of it. They had provided noise-cancelling headphones, but I tried using them and they didn’t block the sound, and I still couldn’t sleep.

- Gilly (8/5): The staff made us welcome and we loved the traditional pub atmosphere with the log fire. - Lovely traditional pub in a pretty Cotswold village. Limited menu for vegetarians.

- Graham (8/5): Despite being manically busy because of the Christmas market outside it was a good experience. - Central location. Busy friendly, very helpful staff. The property oozes its age and atmosphere in a positive way. Perhaps the room we were staying in which was external to the shell of the hotel could’ve had the heating on sooner to heat up the incredibly thick walls! Otherwise, when warm it was an extremely nice room.

- Julie (10/5): The coziest and most charming Cotswolds stay! - We loved everything about our stay here! It was perfect and cozy and charming, and everyone who worked here was so kind! We had dinner, drinks and breakfasts in the pub downstairs and loved all of it. Would absolutely stay here again !! Nothing!
- Sara (10/5): - Camera super accogliente dotata di tutti i comfort, ed in stile inglese - bagno e doccia bellissimi - letto comodissimo - colazione molto varia e buona, il posto è al centro del paese (che è piccolo) e davanti a un supermercato. Fa anche da pub quindi di sera c’è vita senza però disturbare con rumori in camera. Atmosfera bellissima nel pub Comodo al primo piano, forse per persone più anziane meglio avere un ascensore
- Endaf (9/5): - I had a lovely stay at The Lion Inn in Winchcombe. It’s a charming, old-fashioned country-style pub with a touch of modern comfort running through it. The open fire was especially welcoming — a perfect spot to unwind after a day out. The seating areas in front of the fire are quite tight with not much space, but in a way that actually adds to the cosy atmosphere. It feels intimate and homely rather than cramped. Overall, a really warm and inviting place to stay, and I’d happily return.

- Nikki (10/5): Weekend break to see family. - Beautiful, historic pub oozing olde worlde charm. Great attention to detail in pub and rooms alike. Bed and linens good quality and very comfortable. Dog friendly. The property did not have parking but public parking accessed direct through the pub garden and only £4 per day. Nothing not to like.
