Guest Reviews
- Beverley (10/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Wonderful property in the middle of Frome. Nice staff and vibe, my tin rolltop bath was amazing :) The bar closed a little early, but that was the only thing
- sarah (4/5): Disapointed - The staff were nice and helpful The food was terrible.
The room was above huge bins that were emptied outside the room at 7 am
- Jackie (10/5): Petfect venue for our overnight stay on Frome which is a fab unique town. - Everything, fab 🤩
- Richard (8/5): - The Roll top Bath is something else 😍 Nothing
- Paxton (10/5): Perfect end to a lovely hike around the coastal path - Nice central location Nothing
- annabel (10/5): - We stay here at least twice a year to see family so the location is perfect for us. The food is delicious and the staff all so friendly and welcoming. Can't fault the cosy rooms and great atmosphere of the pub, the newly refurbished outside space is really lovely too nothing

- Jacqueline (8/5): Great choice of breakfasts, plenty of hot water for showering. Ideal, basic room. Very good value. - Very convenient location in Frome. Ideal for our family visit. Has undergone a lovely restoration, possibly quite a while ago, now little ‘tired’ in public areas.
- Ronjon (6/5): -
- John (9/5): Apart from the cosmetic issues with the bathroom otherwise excellent stay - Location and friendliness of staff Room 10 bathroom could do with repairs to bathroom peeling paint
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Jeannine (8/5): Super friendly and helpful staff in a most charming and well located ancient building. - Great location, lovely old building with lots of character and charm. Fantastic bath with very hot water and great pressure. Our attic room had one very tiny window that could barely be opened and so with no possibility for proper air circulation it was too warm…we’d refuse the room if the temperature had been any warmer (summer)…we’d refuse were there in May. Also, very poor internet connection and tv didn’t work.
- Aaron (7/5): A pleasant stay, lovely breakfast and great staff. Perfect location. - Lovely period features to the room, exposed beams, nice bath, lovely breakfast and building. The bathroom was a bit pokey, small, as the room was in the loft a sloped pitched roof meant limited headroom, very small door to the room. Quite hot as in the loft.
- Stefan (10/5): -
- Susan (7/5): Average - The different rooms which you can choose to sit in, felt cosy Would like to see some of the furniture replaced, in this building , even thou comfortable sofas in these little areas to socialise, think they have seen better days, and do need replacing, also welcoming dogs, wouldn’t really say they cater much, did expect a dog bowl in the room , good that we bought our own,
- Valerie (7/5): convenient -
- Mrs. Robina (8/5): Comfortable and good location - The kindness of the staff Breakfast was just average
- Andrew (6/5): -
- Emma (7/5): Great location, friendly staff but choose your room carefully! - Great location and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Very noisy, you couldn’t make the room dark as the curtains were thin and the blind didn’t cover the window. You could barely get the main door open. Our view was a brick wall and barbed wire.
- Claire (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): A little gem of a place to visit that was excellent location for visiting Longleat Safari Park and visiting Glastenbury. - It’s quite quirky, unusual. Loved the bath in the room. Bedroom felt luxurious and spacious. People were so friendly , a little welcoming note for the staff in our room. Breakfast included so good value for money
Lovely s all living rooms( little nooks) where you could sit with coffee or a drink. Had outside area. Fairy lights as you walk in. Parking was easy in the car park 2 minute walk to hotel. Only £7 for 24 hour stay If I have to say, I would have like a little fridge in our room and it was hit in the attic room. However that is being picky and they provided a good fan.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Zoë (10/5): A hidden delight. - I had a wonderful overnight stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was beautiful, spotless, and filled with a lovely spa-like scent as soon as you walked in. The roll-top bath was stunning and perfect for relaxing after a long day, and the whole place was wonderfully quiet. Fresh coffee, cookies and milk was a bonus!
The building itself is a stunning old property that has been tastefully refurbished, blending character with comfort. The food was cooked to perfection, and the poached eggs at breakfast were absolutely divine. To top it all off, the staff were friendly, warm, and very welcoming throughout our stay. Nothing not to like.
- Martin (10/5): -
- Julie (5/5): Comfortable but tired looking - The staff were very nice and the breakfast was good The rooms were very tired looking. It the bathroom a lot of the paint was peeling off the walls
- Ann (10/5): Excellent - Lovely property- historic building sympathetically restored. Right in the centre of Frome. Nothing
- Jeff (7/5): Did the job clean and fresh middle of town - Adequate small but freshly cooked nice ingredients Lighting in room bed lights to harsh could do with a extra chair
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful coach house style hotel, very helpful staff, boutique modern rooms. Would recommend -
- Julie (10/5): -
- Bill (9/5): -
- Geoffrey (6/5): It was okay but not a hotel i could recommend - Good location The rooms are small and the breakfast was poor
- Luke (9/5): -
- Luke (7/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): - Location and ambiance Low roof space, not much room to move around in places within beroom and bathroom
- naomi (9/5): Lovely escape to Somerset - The location was fantastic and room was spacious. Everything was spotless. Great water pressure on the shower head. The full English was great but the shakshuka was just too spicy - I can handle heat, but I just couldn’t eat it.
Could have more staff on reception and bar for check in and breakfast.
- Kate (10/5): -
- Shayla (10/5): Excellent - Good location. Easy to find. Close to shops. Has its own restaurant and bar, we had breakfast which was tasty and good value for money. The room we stayed in was very quiet. N/A
- Philip (10/5): Great overnight stay - Centrally located, excellent friendly staff, great value for money, good food and breakfast N/a
- Nick (9/5): Very comfortable stay with excellent food. Thank you - Comfy and nicely equipped rooms with good coffee; great breakfast and Sunday lunch and friendly staff. Great location. One small issue was not knowing whether (and how) we could turn the emergency light in the room off at night - wish we had asked.
- Jeremy (9/5): Perfect - Amazing place to stay Pretty hard not to like anything
Except price of Guinness!!?
- Mel (10/5): -
- bourne (5/5): Enjoyed location. - Central location Courtyard rooms had a steep step into the room. My husband tripped on it and hurt his arm. Dinner portions were skimpy- pie small with small mash and small greens. Mash potatoe was substituted instead of parsnips without notification. Waitress snappy. Breakfast delicious and served well downstairs
- Aziza (10/5): Lovely place in city center, with iconic featuring - The bath is epic, the room is lovely. I went on a Sunday night, so it was pretty calm, I don’t guarantee the same quite on other days of the week.
- Mollett (8/5): - Breakfast Bedroom noise....just a door between rooms
- Holly (10/5): Lovely staff and rooms - Lovely staff, nice big room with a huge bathtub! Really enjoyed our stay, and the staff were all super welcoming.
- Henry (8/5): Beautiful building, great location, friendly staff - Beautiful character property, really warm. Bath leaked a bit so floors got a bit wet.
- Ross (10/5): Long weekend in Frome - Super location. Great ambience. Nil
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Angela (10/5): - Beautiful room, very central, loved our stay!
- Damon (7/5): Archangel Frome - The location is very central which is great. The room was a good size as well as the bath and the bed was comfortable. The room had only two plug sockets, one for the kettle, the other for the TV. If you wanted to use the hairdryer and say charge your phone or a couple of phones you couldn't watch TV, use the iron ect.
We were woken up at 4am as a van was delivering food to the hotel. I can fully respect that the windows are only single glazed because of the age of the property but not sure why it had to be so early in the morning considering the food would not take hours of preparation.
Unfortunate timing for use but they were also having electric work carried out so the entrance was quite messy with cabling etc.
Breakfast quality was quite basic considering the cost for one night was £135.
- Roy (8/5): Probably best hotel in Frome - Quirky but very good . Staff were excellent and they made us feel welcome. Food offered was great The absence of a standing shower but my wife enjoyed the bath.
- Harrison (7/5): - Great Location The room was very small (nowhere for cases). It would be ok as a single room.
We could hear too much from people in an adjoining room through a connecting doorway.
We ate in the restaurant which was cold..
- Antonio (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Bobby A (8/5): Frome with a View - An interesting old pub with sympathetic modernisation set in the heart of Frome Town centre.
There is a public car park 5mins walk away, which is free overnight which was handy.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a decent ensuite shower.
Breakfast was really good!
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Would happily stay again. No faults really
- stephen (8/5): Excellent room and facilities in centre of Frome - Comfortable room, good facilities. Good food Service of food in restaurant was slow. Couldn’t understand how it took so long to cook and deliver.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Exquisitely beautiful - super friendly and helpful staff - amazing food Having to leave
- Maxine (8/5): We’ve stayed before and we’ll again. - The location is fab. The staff are superb. Gluten free breakfast. Comfy rooms. The bathroom needed an overhaul. The toilet and sink were both cracked. The sealant round the shower needed replacing. The shower screen needed a good bleaching. Drawers in the bedroom would have been handy for jumpers and t-shirts, etc. We could not only hear the person on the phone next door, but also the person they were on the phone to, the sound carries that much.
- Stuart (9/5): - Great ambiance and the staff were fantastic Can't say there was anything to complain about.
- Ella (9/5): - The style, comfort and cleanliness of the room. The bar and restaurant was equally as stylish and clean. The location is perfect. I have no complaints at all.
- Damien (10/5): -
- Iona (6/5): Bit overpriced - The breakfast was exceptional, the staff were friendly and professional There was only a bath in the bedroom, no shower. The floorboards were very creaky
- AJ (8/5): Romantic birthday getaway ❤️ - Homemade cookies in the room, fresh milk , black out curtains, comfortable bed, bath big enough for two and fills surprisingly quickly. All the staff were very friendly and professional. Grade 2 listed building with a beautiful floating restaurant. Nice outside garden and love the different rooms and cosy seating areas inside. Drinks are a bit pricey, but we took advantage of the loyalty app to receive a discount.
The room is very hot in the morning, thankfully the windows do open!
It would be nice to have some candles in the bathroom :-)
Not the best lighting in the room to do makeup..
- Helen (8/5): -
- Hayes (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Very pleasant stay. - A lovely pub with good food and friendly staff. The property was very nice with lots of little rooms to sit in and chill. We were curious to the reason for eyeshades to be by the bed but realised at bedtime that the green light from the emergency light by the door was very bright. That was the only thing we weren’t so keen about.
- Errington (10/5): -
- Genevieve (9/5): -
- Jill (9/5): Lovely place to stay and a good location and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. -
- Jason (8/5): A lovely experiencd particularly the room in the eaves , great breakfast lovely staff , get involved and enjoy the town - Just a lovely historic property thoughtfully upgraded some years ago The bed was broken and the hot water packed up , but that does just happen sometimes !
- Della (7/5): Beautiful building and lovely staff. Bathtub was the highlight - The staff were lovely. The bath was amazing when water came out of the tap. Breakfast was lovely and the bed was comfortable just in the smaller side. The decor was nice and the building was done to a high standard. The toilet was very small, the bed was small, the water kept stopping when trying to run a bath and lights flickered.
- Lynne (9/5): -
- ANNE-MARIE (7/5): Nice but not worth £297 for 2 nights. - The location, range of breakfast options, friendliness of staff. We stayed in room 6. Room was a bit dated, the table for the kettle etc. was far too small and awkward to access. The tiny bathroom was depressing.
- April (7/5): - Hotel has character and some parts are lovely. Need to revamp certain areas. Nothing was too much for the staff. Very generous roast.
Frome is very tired full of graffiti but the people were nice. Not very many shops were open.
- Kayleigh (10/5): - Brilliant value for money. Great central location. Yummy food.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect! - Really quirky hotel amazing ambience Nothing
- Lyall (7/5): Pleasant stay, perfect location. - Great location. Charming bedroom decor, nice lounges with roaring fires and good bar area. Good food. Room needed a bit of attention. Bulbs missing, paint worn in parts, mattress needs replacing.
- jacqueline (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): -
- Polly (7/5): Comfortable town centre stay - Lovely room A few lightbulbs blown or missing
- Anna (8/5): -
- Eve (9/5): -
- Justin (10/5): -
- Kerry-Jo (10/5): -
- Joanna (10/5): -
- Tom (10/5): Perfect 100/10 - Room was perfect, staff very friendly and aways happy to help you out if you are in a pickle, good prices for meals will be staying there again whenever i next get chance to head down :) Nothing to complain about everything for me personally was perfect just perfect :)
- Sarah (8/5): Nice stay in an interesting old building. - Very friendly staff, nice old building. Very handy for Frome and not very far from a long stay car park. Room was fairly big. Nice shower. Good breakfast. We had a room off the courtyard which is directly off the pub courtyard. This was not a problem for us but was obviously a bit noisy in the evening.
- paul (8/5): A wonderful building with amazing staff. Loved the three days, but the noise from 5am wasn't great. - The staff were amazing and very friendly. The building was perfect and the whole set up was excellent. We loved the place. The coach house feel and the courtyard make you feel like you are in the middle of know where with the benefit of being in town. Amazing place. We did experience cold mash with a dinner one night and as lovely as the room was the noise from M&S at 5am in the morning made it hard to get a good nights sleep (we were staying at the rear of the building). Not the hotels fault by any means, but it was an issue and would make me think about staying again.
- Julia (9/5): -
- Ruth (9/5): -
- stephen (10/5): - Staff were very friendly, location excellent Nothing
- Owain (5/5): Good location, great staff, good price, but room characteristics and breakfast quality let it down. - Good price, pleasant staff, good location. the walls between rooms are extremely thin, and the enthusiasm of the neighbours throughout the night was commendable, but didn’t allow for a good nights sleep… Also the door to the room was right next to the smoking area, smoke smells drift in…
The avocado toast at breakfast wasn’t great, seemed like greying avocado out of a squeezy bottles not fresh..
- mark (10/5): - Great weekend - very friendly
- Elizabeth (7/5): - Great location in the centre of Frome
- Adam (10/5): Comfortable, romantic stay - Room was beautiful and comfortable. The free standing bath in the bedroom was brilliant and plenty big enough for 2 - very romantic! The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent.
