- Storyteller819981 (6/5): Poor quality food, unfriendly staff, nice grounds - Although the room was beautiful and the grounds lovely, the beds were too soft for our backs. Additionally the pool was freezing cold, too cold to enjoy, the staff were not friendly and worst of all the food was bland and tastless. We were told a few days in advance that there was a special dinner with wine pairing by Chef Andrea Macca and it had a set price and menu. The meal was multi-course and only the appetizer was good. The first corse fish three ways was much too salty to eat. The secondi was also fish which was bland and the potatoes were so salty, you couldn't eat them. I looked strong the room and noticed that most people left food as we did. The other courses were also just awful. The desert was waxy and tasteless. We spoke with a couple beside us and they agreed it was not what they were hoping for and said that these places were not or miss and this was a miss. They were local sicilians on a weekend getaway. Also to note, we bought a bottle of wine from them on our way out, as the wine was exceptional, for 28 euros and at our next stop, found the same wine, same year, exactly the same for 23 euros at the local store...
- soffis (6/5): No Etna wines in the tasting at an Etna winery, disappointed stay - We stayed one night in a delux room with a small terrace. No view from the terrace, it was enclosed to give privacy I guess. Room was ok. Pool area is ok, super cold water in the pool. The plastic wine glasses by the pool are worn out which takes away some of the feeling (plastic is good for a pool area but not worn out). It's a wine hotel, they should celebrate the wine with decent glasses. They only offered wine tasting at 13 and we checked too late but they said the dinner will also have a wine tasting. On our evening there was a five course dinner and wine tasting package or no food option. We took the quite expensive package as we wouldn't have time for a separate wine tasting. We were utterly disappointed of the wine selection on the dinner, no Etna wines from an Etna winery. Only their other brand wines made on another location. No tasting or information, it was only a wine package to the dinner. The dinner itself was bland and a bit boring not worth the money and the wine selection did not make it a better experience. When bringing this up with the hotel they offered 15% off the dinner package, it was not worth half. They offered us to stay at the pool until 13 to do a wine tasting (unclear about payment) , but we were checking out that day. They could have compensate with a Etna wine bottle such a simple gesture which doesn't cost much for them. Overall room, dinner, breakfast and the service we were not impressed.
- Grace (10/5): - If I could give La Cavenera Etnae more than 5* I would. We stayed here for one night for my 30th birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We did the Eruption wine tasting and Roberto was so knowledgeable and exciting to listen to. I had the fish menu and my partner the meat and both options were absolutely incredible. The facilities are beautiful, the pool and vineyard walks are so peaceful and relaxing. The room was super comfortable and clean. We will definitely come back!
- U5851JFcharlesw (10/5): Beautiful facility quietly situated 40 minutes outside Taormina - After spending several days in Taormina, my wife and I were looking for an activity outside of town and came upon Cavanera Etnea. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. A beautiful property with wonderful facilities - our sommelier Roberto was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about the regional wines, and was full of energy. The wines were great, and paired nicely with our meal for a reasonable price. We would definitely do this again in the future.
- B6406RKjr (10/5): Lovely Lunch with amazing Sommelier - Two friends and I recently had a lunch and wine tasting experience at the vineyards restaurant, the experience was lovely. We showed up a few minutes before the kitchen closed, however management accommodated us and make sure we felt welcome and received the full service. The food was excellent, the setting beautiful but the highlight of the experience was the expertise, and engaging show like experience [provided by their onsite Sommelier, Roberto Trovato. Highly recommend as a stop on your way up or back from the north side of Etna.

- Ghislain (10/5): - This was our second stay at Cavanera. The setting is amazing and the restaurant, Riserva, is outstanding. The surrounding area is a wine lover’s paradise. Things to improve…. They should just let the air conditioning run in the gym. It’s a sauna in there. They only turn it on if someone wants to use it which makes no sense to me. Also, we were there over three days and the whole time there was a dead mouse on the steps that lead to the pool. It is to be expected, you are in the middle of a vineyard after all. But leave it there for three days?!? None of this will stop me from coming back. The positives far outweigh the negatives but you know…. The devil is in the details. Looking forward to be back at Cavanera!
- Leslie (8/5): - Cavenera Wine Resort was beautiful and the rooms were the nicest of our trip. Bed and pillows comfortable, good breakfast with many selections. Beautiful pool and grounds. Outstanding views from the beautifully designed restaurant. My only criticisms were there was no Consierge or sommelier and the menu was limited to fancy high end and expensive food. Our couscous and swordfish was good, but on the second night we had a wine tasting and lunch off the property and we only wanted a salad or appetizer for dinner. Appetizer menu was inadequate and no salad menu. There was only at table wine tasting which was very expensive. So we bought a bottle instead. And there was only the waiter doing the wine tasting. Need to bump up the menu and always have a sommelier at the dinner hour.

Management needs to have more servers on the shift for the dinner service. The servers were great but too few. Overall, the experience was very nice.
- 606gerdm (8/5): Nice rooms and location but overcharged - Nicely decorated rooms in a beautiful winery with a view of mount Etna. Very quiet, equipped with a pool and gym, thus perfect for a relaxed stay. Unfortunately, the breakfast room at the pool is about 100m away from the rooms, so a rainy day makes breakfast a little uncomfortable. Same with the restaurant in a large winery hall (easily serving 100 people). Dinner is absolutely overcharged (menu + wine more than 200 Euro for 2), but the next option is almost 10 km away.
- TimH1000 (10/5): Delicious lunch and wine tasting - highly recommended - We came here for lunch and wine tasting on a rainy spring day after visiting Castiglione Di Sicilia. Fantastic long lunch with tasting of four excellent wines. Really turned a dull day into a very memorable one. The lunch was 3 courses with also excellent bread and olive oil produced on the estate. Very good value and Marcella was a wonderful host. We would strongly recommend Cavanera Etnea.

Kleine gym met goede apparatuur. Restaurant op het complex is bovenop de wijnkelders (wel een klimmetje omhoog) met prachtig uitzicht op de bergen en de dorpjes op de bergen. Wijnproeverij mogelijk.

These two gentlemen set a standard of excellence that no other vineyard in Etna, or anywhere else for that matter, can match. Fabio was incredibly kind and generous, going above and beyond by providing us with transportation to the restaurant and ensuring our meals were exceptional. Roberto offered insightful explanations during the wine tasting, making the experience enjoyable and accessible even for those of us with no prior knowledge of wine. The grand finale was a fascinating tour led by Roberto, who took the time to explain everything in multiple languages, catering to our diverse group. Fabio and Roberto truly are the heart and soul of Cavanera. Thank you both for making our visit so special.
- Getaway38672661482 (10/5): Awesome wine tasting dinner - Excellent stay. Beautiful property. The head sommelier, Roberto Raciti, gave us a tour of the vineyard as part of a wine tasting dinner. Roberto is very knowledgeable and personable. It was so much fun to spend our evening with Roberto, and enjoy the amazing dinner. The food and the wine were excellent. Thank you Roberto!
- Sonen123 (10/5): A great vineyard experience - The vinery is amazing, the restaurant is highly chic and elegant, the service is excellent. The food is amazingly delicious. The wines are affordable and very special. But the beauty of this environment comes with the experience of great presentation of Me. Roberto Raciti who is the chief sommelier. He is perfectly knowledgable, exciting amd tells us evetyting with a high passion. Thanks to this great experience.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Key amenities unavailable during our stay - We were disappointed by our stay at Cavanera. We were informed a few days before our stay that the restaurant would be closed, and the tasting room/bar was also closed. We booked a room with king size bed but it was only a queen, despite reception telling us otherwise. Parking was far from the room, including a lot of steps, which we didn't anticipate with our bags, and not well lit to walk from, when we had to come back from a dinner out instead of the (closed) restaurant onsite. Overall the views are pretty, but we would caution to check about the desired amenities you'd like, and that the advertised king bed size was not accurate.

- Mario (10/5): - Beautifully located, spectacular scenery amongst the slopes of Etna and the vineyards. Property is well hidden, you wouldn't know it is there unless you are specifically looking for it. Property is well maintained and their respect for the environment and minimal impact is evident. The staff were wonderful with our check in, escorting us to our room. The pool is lovely, elevated and surrounded by vineyards. Our room was perfect, situated in one of the bungalows. All furnishings and amenities in the room were excellent. We took advantage of the winery tour and tasting and dinner. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable about the winery itself and the wine world in general. Our dinner was delicious....highly recommend the tasting/dinner combo. The staff was very accommodating on our check out date, as we had an Etna trek/tour planned, holding on to our luggage and letting us leave our vehicle there while we were away on our tour for several hours. Looking forward to returning some day, either here or on of the other Filiato properties.

It was unfortunate because it is such an amazing space and the staff should not be an annoyance. Everything else was great. The wine tour and tasting was very informative.

- 174am (8/5): Boutique vineyard resort on Mt Etna - We stayed 4 nights at this boutique vineyard resort on the Northern slopes of Mt Etna. The rooms and views were very nice, though water pressure and water temperature were not reliable. When more guests arrived the air conditioner stopped working. The breakfast was good, the pool was clean with a lovely view (a very welcome respite during a heatwave). There is a restaurant on site (€€€€) and a Good gym. Location was very remote - there are small towns (Linguaglossa, Randazzo, Passopisciaro) that are a ~20 minute drive on winding Sicilian roads, and you can access Etna North hiking in around 1-1.5hr.
- Steve (8/5): Beautiful location but breakfast let it down! - The vineyards location is stunning. View from the room.of mt etna and the vineyard. Beautiful room and pool area. Wine tour with Roberto was amazing and the wine delicious.we opted just for a meat and cheese selection which was very nice and generous portion! However breakfast the next day was poor. Signs to say €2 for tea and coffee and €6 for a cooked breakfast. We ordered tea but wasnt charged so slightly confused on the signs. Cold selection is a bit lacking. Pool hours are 11 till 7 so no chance of a dip in the pool before checkout in 34c weather

- deborah (10/5): AMAZING ! LOVED THIS PLACE! - We stayed at this resort in October 2018. We were only there for one night - wish we had stayed longer. This winery/hotel is in a remote area near Mt. Etna, so it is very quiet and peaceful. We heard they are building a restaurant on site which is a great idea because now I think they only serve breakfast and lunch. We did a fabulous wine tasting with them and did not want to drive and they were incredible about whipping up a light dinner for us in their kitchen - this was not part of their program and they went out of their way to be accommodating. The breakfast was fabulous too and I ended up buying some wine. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area and love wine. It's definitely worth it!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lovely place awkward service - Great setting however staff are rather tricky. From the moment we arrived we felt slightly unwanted. We weren’t informed of any of the activities the hotel or surrounding area has to offer. We were not even able to do the wine tasting even though this is pretty much the only thing the hotel has to offer. LOL! WiFi barely works. There is no restaurant and most of the local restaurants which were recommended to us were shut. Check in very bad we arrived early but had to wait until the check in time even though we were pretty much the only guests there. When we asked to use the bikes we were told that ‘the tyres are flat’ but when we checked they seemed fine and there was a pump beside them. We were left alone in the bar for hours with no service. All in all an absolutely baffling experience but such a shame as the place is lovely.
