Guest Reviews
- joasia-madz (10/5): Wonderful 2 night break. - Just a perfect 2 nights away. Really wonderful environment. Wonderful circular walks from the door step. Finishing at the pub for lovely food. Beer was lush. Lots of games available to play. Lovely beds. Rooms were perfect. We will return.
- leighj833 (10/5): We had a lovely stay at The White Horse and hope to be visiting some of the other Butcombe properties soon - We had a lovely stay. Our room was lovely, staff were very friendly and our dinner was delicious.
- johnmO2716FC (10/5): Perfect country pub with rooms - We loved this pub. Great room with a small enclosed garden for the dog. Lovely food, super friendly (& dog-loving) staff and great location in the south downs.
- sarapG8182XZ (10/5): Great midweek break. - Special thank you to Kat for outstanding service!
Rooms immaculate.
Food excellent. Great value. Fab coffee!!
- davidgW8287KS (10/5): Travellers rest par excellence! - We first stayed at The White Horse 4 years ago and found it really nice. Now it has become part of the Butcombe chain it is even better. Extremely well appointed room, a superb selection of food and a very friendly welcome. All the staff were helpful and friendly. They went the “extra mile” and always wore a smile.
- emski2910 (10/5): A perfect break in the South Downs - We’ve just come back from a wonderful weekend at the White Horse, nestled on the South Downs. We received a friendly greeting and were shown to our beautiful room with private terrace. Butcombe rooms have lovely touches and this one was no exception; delicious homemade cookies in a Kilner jar, a coffee machine and kettle, bottled water, Bramley toiletries, scatter cushions, greenery and a DAB radio playing as we walked in. We also found a personalised welcome note on the bed along with some maps printed off detailing some of the local walks on the South Downs; such lovely thoughtful touches. The room was beautifully decorated, warm and very welcoming with lovely finishing touches. Our private terrace was a gorgeous sun trap to sit and enjoy the views and relax with our complimentary drinks. The rooms are away from the main pub and restaurant so very quiet and it really felt like you were sleeping deep within the South Downs. Breakfast was included and delicious and washed down with a free fruit smoothie. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
- lizmO3833TR (10/5): Great pub, great staff, great food, great location - We stayed 2 nights and everything was spot on. Lovely room with thoughtful touches and a super comfy bed. Great food both nights - really good gluten free options which is sometimes hard to find in pubs. Delicious breakfast both days and even a special sausage for the pooch. What makes this place so good though is the staff - from the moment I emailed with a question to arrivals, every service and just bumping into people as we moved around - they are all fantastic, really friendly. The walks around the pub are wonderful too - a pretty perfect spot for a shot here away - Thank you!
- nicktM761ZA (10/5): Hostess with the mostess - Delightful place with great food and lovely rooms and a fabulous hostess
- 555missh (10/5): A wonderful birthday gift from my partner. - Fantastic time from start to finish! Absolutely adored the 1920s murder mystery evening. Great food, great atmosphere, wonderful local acting talent and lovely cosy rooms. 11/10 for over all experience.
- AnneChichester (10/5): A great welcome at this lovely Inn - A great welcome at this lovely Inn. The surroundings are very relaxing, nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff. Enjoyed our meals very much and a good list of wines to choose from. Gluten free requirement well catered for. Rooms are beautiful, clean, well equipped and quiet. Plenty of parking and country walks straight from the hotel. Dogs are made very welcome too.
- Destination590318 (10/5): Lovely welcoming hotel in the stunning South Downs close to the great Weald and Downlands Living Museum - A superb stay, we felt welcomed, the food was excellent, the service great.
- matttU5703YE (10/5): Great pub in a lovely location - We stayed as a family for 4 for a night (with the dog) and had a lovely time. Rooms really well done, very comfortable and everything you need. Dinner in the pub really great value and hosts all really friendly. Great pub in a lovely location.
- 319grainned (10/5): What a gem - What a gem! The bedrooms were beautiful, unique, homely and comfortable. The pub was beautiful. The food - dinner and breakfast was so tasty
- JGS03 (10/5): Lovely place to eat and stay in the heart of the countryside. - Lovely place to eat and stay in the heart of the countryside.
We booked a one night stay here with an evening meal and it did not disappoint. The room was absolutely lovely and the food was delicious. First class service from all staff.
- P5957SEdavidp (10/5): Tranquille setting, understated boutique luxuary. - Really beautiful stay, gorgeous, spacious accommodation.
Stunning surroundings, quiet natural surroundings.
Lovely meal with an interesting menu.
- barrythomasw (10/5): The perfect break - We stayed for 2 nights and the experience was perfect. The staff were so frieindly and accommodating. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent as were the menus to choose from. The accommodation was very good.
- 899JonB (10/5): Magnificent - We went for my birthday and had a wonderful time with our dog Boris ! Susie and her team were exceptionally welcoming and we thank you so much. We will be back and this was our first experience of Butcombe Inns….. definitely not our last, the loyalty club ensures we will return. Thank you, Jon and Lynn
- SuccessDartford (10/5): A great stay, in a lovely part of the world - We have just returned from a lovely night away in a great spot in Sussex. The day had been full of rain but coming back to this establishment cheered us up. It felt like a country house, warm fires and lovely areas where you could entertain or alcoves to relax. The staff were friendly and professional where nothing was too much trouble. The rooms for the price, were excellent with all amenities, including a radio playing music as you entered. We had an extra area where you could sit and chill without being overlooked, in fact the rooms we saw were all separate to the pub. Dinner in the restaurant was well above standards normally found in other pubs, tasty and plentiful.
I can honestly say, the stay was memorable and well deserving of a birthday treat. If in the area, do try it out for quality, price and a great feel for a night away.
- melissarR6526MM (10/5): Christmas break - We had a lovely stay at the White Horse and will definitely be back. Our room was comfortable and clean, the food was great and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
- Q5890SHlauraa (10/5): Fantastic night away - Just a fantastic night away. Stayed for 1 evening in ‘Stag’ .
Fantasticly furnished & in keeping with the local area. Food was delicious & sat by the log burner made it even more perfect.
Beer & wine great and reasonably priced.
Front of house team lead by Alana gave a friendly & very warm welcome.
Just what we needed for our little getaway. Thank you all at the White Horse. We shall recommend & return.
- Twinner7 (10/5): A must place to visit - Made a trip to The White Horse on a Sunday special, £84 a couple including breakfast. A warm welcome on arrival and a table around the fire for a couple of drinks before retiring to our room. A very clean cosy and pleasant looking room (see photos). Off to lunch which was excellent. Even better, we were given vouchers for a free drink and when our Golden Ticket was opened we received a 50% discount on our food. Staff were friendly and polite. There have been cosmetic changes to the pub since our last stay which have enhanced the experience. If you want a place to stay or eat in the Chichester area this is it you won’t be disappointed.
- lbriggs22 (10/5): Fabulous in every way - Fantastic location, beautiful pub, high-standard room, brilliant service and absolutely delicious food. Already looking to book a stay to another Buscombe pub, and will also return here.
- N8470HQchrisn (10/5): Dog friendly Inn , great location for walks , great rooms and wonderful staff. - Great location for walks , great atmosphere in the bar and dinner, and the most dog friendly place we have been . All the staff were wonderful and the rooms great .
- Paradise27682500908 (10/5): A well needed break in a fantastic inn. - A well needed 2 night break, the room was fantastic as were the staff. The food was wonderful and portions were generous. We had plans to go out on the Saturday but due to my health we decided to spend the day at the inn. What could have been a frustrating day was flipped round playing backgammon by the fire surrounded by the beautiful Christmas tree and decorations. Would absolutely recommend here.
- 926lyndam (10/5): Great Christmas party - It was a Christmas gathering and we had a beautiful table. The staff were great and the food superb. We loved the whole experience
- korinna (10/5): - beautiful rooms, lovely food
- Lance (10/5): - Did not have a pet and did not see the facilities
- julie (10/5): - Fantastic pub in beautiful countryside. The rooms were tastefully decorated to a high standard with lovely toiletries and tea/cofee facilities. The bar and restaurant had a relaxed, cosy vibe, well decorated and delicious food. And friendly staff
- Stephen (10/5): - I've stayed at the White Horse on several occasions when working in the area. It is always a great experience. The staff are great the rooms beautiful and the food is fantastic.
- Charlotte (10/5): Amazing find! - Beautiful clean room, comfortable pillows and bed (I didn’t want to get out of!).
Staff very friendly, amazing beef pie and lovely atmosphere for working away in my own.
- Ken (10/5): - We have no complaints at all. Everything was perfect.
- Stephanie (10/5): Excellent - Excellent, would definitely recommend. Very friendly staff, amazing food, beautiful room and just a really well thought out offering. Would definitely return.
- satwik (10/5): - The inn was fantastic. The reception front of house staff were extremely friendly and kind. They offered us a hot drink on a rainy miserable evening on arrival. They also sorted us out with a drink to go on our departure to London. Everything from checking in to checkout was top class.
- Simone (10/5): Bank Holiday stay - We stayed at the white Horse last weekend ( bank holiday ) for 2 nights and enjoyed every second . Our Room was Badger - beautiful , loved attention to detail - gorgeous white line , cookies , water - very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely .Dinner on 2nd night was great - sadly they had run out of a few things on the menu but enjoed what we chose . Staff very friendly and helpful . Would recommend 100%
- Chris79111 (10/5): Can't wait to go back! - Had a fabulous 3 night stay at The White Horse, Chilgrove. Room, bar, restaurant, terraces and outside space, all immaculate. Staff were lovely and friendly, food was great and there's an excellent selection of drinks (including very nice Butcombe ales). We had our dog with us and he was made very welcome indeed and didn't want us to leave! Location is also terrific - lovely walks up to the South Downs Way and lots of attractions nearby. Without doubt, we will be returning.
- Roving701580 (10/5): Relaxing, restorative and well cared for in a wonderful location. - Beautiful location and hotel. Staff are attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. The place while busy had a very relaxed calm atmosphere making it perfectly suitable for our planned stay.
- rhbrichard (10/5): Another lovely stay - Another very nice stay
Lovely staff and good food and drink.
Not sure if so many dogs should be allowed in Restaurant eating area though.
- suenstu1 (10/5): A fabulous meet up with friends - A well appointed room lots od special details and attentive staff where nothing was too much trouble. A welcome drink after a long hot walk was an opportunity to sit in the garden area.
- Florian (10/5): Great place - Amazing bed !
- Frances (10/5): - After a day on the beach we were so pleased to arrive at this gorgeous gastro pub with rooms. Beautiful, and comfortable rooms with lovely style and welcoming touches, and our dog was welcomed happily and given her own bed and there was even a dog shower area outside. Dinner outside was delicious and a great breakfast menu too, traditional and healthy options also. Thoroughly recommend and hope to come back.
- Karen (10/5): Great find! - Excellent stay, high spec rooms with great customer service throughout our stay
- Briant4ep (10/5): Great all round experience : overnight stay and dining with three large rescued dogs - So many plus points - very dog friendly; good food with vegan options; a lovely rural but very accessible setting; good choice of relaxed indoor and al fresco dining options; very friendly service; comfortable, reasonably priced and well-appointed accommodation - the terrace room with an enclosed outside terrace and awning providing a great additional space for dogs and their human companions. We are from the area but the pub is close to Goodwood, Petworth, Chichester, Down and Wealdland Living Museum, West Dean Gardens, for anyone from further afield who may be be planning to visit.
- Alison (10/5): - We had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A few things to consider - A lovely place overall. My room was very comfortable and It had everything I needed. (the photos don't do ut justice)
There were lots of small touches that were thoughtful.
The staff were friendly and very professional.
A few negatives: It is by a very busy road so okay if you need to be up early! The outdoor seats and tables could be kept cleaner. There was a rat on it's way to the kitchen bins when I sat outside in the evening and the pub toilets seem much loved by flies. completely understand its in a rural location but...
An earlier breakfast would be really helpful for business travellers. Unfortunately for this reason I will probably need to book elsewhere next time (They do offer 'breakfast on the go' as an option).
The food looked lovely but were beyond my budget with a top price of £110 for the chefs special.
Lots to recommend this venue but a few things to consider.
- sherryq815 (10/5): Wonderful overnight stay! - Just got back from a fabulous overnight stay at The White Horse, positioned in the wonderful surroundings of the South Downs. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the welcoming staff, everything was excellent. A complimentary drink on arrival was really welcome on a very warm June day - a nice touch. Our room was lovely. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and with the comfiest of bed and pillows! One thing I liked in particular was the fact that there were ample plug sockets and mirrors perfectly positioned for hair drying and make up purposes, so often this is an issue. Plus a cafetière to make coffee was a real treat. We had a delicious meal in the evening, my roast pork was perfectly cooked and went down very well after a day at Goodwood which is a short drive from the White Horse. Our room was behind the pub itself overlooking the garden. There were lots of places to sit outside and although we didn’t take our dog, it is very dog friendly. We had a great night sleep and woke up refreshed and ready for breakfast the next morning. Again, the staff were friendly and attentive and we enjoyed a great breakfast, lovely coffee too, before checking out. A final lovely touch, we were asked if we wanted a complimentary coffee to take for our journey. Can’t wait to return!
- marcelleo964 (10/5): Impressed! Beautiful gem! - I stayed at The White Horse as I was in town for a wedding. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality of service, products and accommodation. On arrival, I was taken to the room and was presented with two cards for complimentary drinks (what a great start and a lovely touch). The room was beautiful and kept to a high standard; it was well contained with all your essentials such as a good quality kettle, iron and ironing board, mirrors, fan etc....Very impressed!
I had forgotten my cufflinks in London and I contacted reception to see if they could help as I was quite desperate. To my surprise, a gentleman named Sam returned with a pair of cufflinks and saved me from the hassle of finding a solution (Thank you very much, Sam, your yellow beetle cufflinks matched my tie!).
Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to dine or have drinks, but I was certainly return to this beautiful gem another time.
- Francesca (10/5): - I absolutely loved my stay at The White Horse in Chichester. The staff are wonderful, the food is amazing and the rooms are super comfy. Thank you for everything.
- nicolasJ8961ZB (10/5): Fabulous place to stay. - We can not praise the staff enough, nothing was too much trouble all very polite and happy.
The room that we stayed in was beautiful, linen was clean and bed and pillows were devine.
the food in the hotel was delicious and very well presented and in our opinion very good value for money.
- richardwN5421TC (8/5): Great stay with our dog - Great stay, love the refurbished rooms and the great service - wonderful staff in bar and restaurant.
One request we stayed in Stag and there is room for some shelves or drawers - not all clothes can be hung up?
- Paul (10/5): - Staff were very welcoming on arrival. Room was perfect. Definitely recommend staying at this hotel.
- Gary (10/5): - Lovely pub, immaculate inside, room was very well
equipped.
- Neil (10/5): - We stayed over for one night and wished we had booked for longer.
The rooms were well laid out, clean and very comfortable.
The staff we welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We will definitely be going back ,hopefully in the not to distant future.
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent service and welcome . Room was clean and the extras were welcoming. Breakfast was lovely .Well worth a visit
- Charlotte (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay, everyone was friendly, helpful, super accommodating and in particular with it being dog friendly we never felt like we were being a nuisance with the dog. It is the first time that I have eaten out with the dog and not felt on edge, worried that she is in the way or making someone else feel uncomfortable.
- Claire (10/5): - Comfortable and clean room with lots of little touches that made the stay more pleasant. Good food and choice in the pub and simple but good breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- E6060XXianp (10/5): Quality, peaceful and welcoming - A wonderfully peaceful and welcoming stay (Part two of our Butcombe Inns tour). We were made to feel very welcome and valued. Great rooms very clean and well laid out.
A great menu for our evening meal and of course great beer! Also a beautiful breakfast to set us up for the day. Will definitely visit again.
- N8853KYchrisl (10/5): Amazing stay - We were a group of 5 cycling the South Downs and stayed here on route. The pub is absolutely superb. The welcome we received and the way we were looked after was great. Sam was amazing and made sure we were looked after. Even made peanut butter sarnies for the trip! The food was great
- Wander53342903626 (4/5): More average than good! - A decidedly average meal accompanied by a lack of care and attention overall, staff training required. Rooms good - no milk for tea/coffee, although told next day we should have asked for a flask. Good attempt at Spring table tasting menu, but lacking finesse.
Slow service at breakfast (it really wasn’t busy) and lack of drive for good customer service.
- andrewpG8081NW (8/5): A pleasant stay in a nice location - Comfortable stay, the room was nice with no shortage of plastic plants. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet albeit at a quiet time.
The evening meal in the restaurant was good with a decent selection of wines on their list.
We had to check put by 8 am and breakfast service did not start until 8 and so we missed out on that. Sadly although they offered to put out some cold pastries and cereal for us that didn't happen.
We had our dog with us and booked a Muddy Paws stay which includes a discount for our evening meal this however did not appear on our checkout bill until they were reminded.
- EmmaM2064 (10/5): Wonderful stay at the White Horse - We stayed for 1 night in the Stag room, one of the patio terrace rooms, and it was lovely. The room was beautifully decorated, really nice little touches, and very spacious and clean. The outdoor terrace was a nice extra, especially as the weather was so warm, and gave us a bit of extra space to enjoy the sunny weather. It was a lovely surprise to get a complimentary drink at the bar and we made the most of the sun and sat outside in the garden terrace to have some drinks and had dinner out there as well. The food was delicious, we just shared some starters and olives, and the general atmosphere and feel of the setting was perfect.
Breakfast was delicious, I had the yoghurt and fruit, which was really flavoursome, and my husband had the Butcombe breakfast, which he said was delicious.
I would definitely recommend staying here and we will be returning again in the near future- the perfect little get away!
- Y9345KNerinm (8/5): A lovely stay overall - The room was absolutely lovely, very well furnished and thought out (the pillows were also super fluffy). Such a great pub and fab location. Only downside was the quality of the food - it was okay, just not what you would expect for the price tag.
- A9546JOpeterb (10/5): It fires on all eight cylinders. - Great management and lovely attentive staff, excellent food and beautifully refurbished rooms, what’s not to like.
The White Horse is situated in an idyllic location with great walks across rolling countryside yet easily accessible to Goodwood House and Chichester.
- C J (10/5): - Very charming place with great scenery surrounding it. Rooms are delightful & of a very high standard. Staff are great & friendly. Perfect place to stay.
- 754ChristianM (10/5): Dog friendly pub with lovely rooms and great food. - Stayed at this fantastic pub for a dog walking weekend on the South Downs. The location, rooms and food were all great and the staff were very friendly and always helpful. Food & drink were all very good and the pub is full of little touches such as dog treats, dog beads, drinking bowls and walking sticks and spare wellies (if you forget to bring your own!). The White Horse is very dog friendly and an ideal base for a walking weekend or just to stop off for a spot of lunch.
- karlbO2656GY (10/5): Mothering Sunday - We had a wonderful stay in the newly decorated Rabbit lodge, a very peaceful quiet sleep. The room is very well equipped and a has a huge bath with a beautiful view to enjoy. We took our dogs too, and the team supplied dog beds and anything we needed, we were there to celebrate Mothering Sunday with family and everyone had a great time, we love going to The white horse and doing the downs walk around chilgrove and now will be staying more regularly. Thanks again.
- Samantha (10/5): - Very friendly and comfy also wonderful food
- I1296NEsued (10/5): The dog friendliest place we have ever been to - This was the most dog-friendly experience we have had. All the staff adored the dogs and made us feel so welcome.
The room was lovely with bed/towel/bowl for the dog and very high spec accommodation for the humans.
I cannot praise the White Horse enough for their service and care and will definitely be recommending to all my friends with dogs!
Great food too and a lovely location for exploring the South Downs Way.
- Curiosity426167 (8/5): Lovely meal in pleasant surroundings - We were delighted with the meal we had. It was well presented and very tasty.
The service was very good but after we had finished our dessert no one came to ask if we wanted a coffee or to ask if we would like the bill. We think the nice girl who served us had probably gone for lunch or finished her shift. However, we will definitely be visiting again and have recommended you to our friends.
- WellWhatCanISa (10/5): Mid-week stay with our dog - We stayed here for 2 nights with our dog and had a fantastic time! The location is excellent with lots of walking routes directly from the pub. They are very dog-friendly and our boy was made to feel extra special, particularly at breakfast when he was given his own sausage. We stayed in ‘Pigeon’ which opened out directly into a lawn area with bench seating, perfect when staying with dogs. The room definitely had the wow factor when we walked in, and had all the facilities you could want. It was very peaceful and calm throughout our stay so we all slept really well. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings, the food was excellent and hearty portions. Breakfast was also fantastic with lots of options to choose from, all very well cooked and high-quality ingredients.
We will most definitely be back to visit again soon! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay perfect ☺️
- LadyP40 (10/5): A great country Inn worth visiting - A fabulous refurbishment has been completed on this pub, the decor is modern with a touch of the traditional, the new menu had lots of choice making it hard to choose what to eat. You definitely want to return to try more dishes! The food was exceptional, the Sirloin Steak was the best I've had in a pub, service was professional, friendly and staff extremely knowledgeable on the menu options particularly Alana, whos attention and service was first class. Really great to see the chef walking through the restaurant toqards the end of the evening, it was nice to be able to praise and thank him for a wonderful meal. We will return.
- Resort35754653367 (10/5): White horse Chilgrove - We had the opportunity to have a complimentary meal at this lovely pub. The attention to detail was amazing making us feel like we were the only ones in the entire place. We had our table booked for 6pm, but had arrived a bit early, this was not an issue. We were shown to our table. Seated and left to check out the menues of food and drinks. After a couple of minutes we were asked if ready to order drinks. After they arrived asked if we wanted to order our food. All done very nicely. Food arrived, presented beautifully and totally packed with flavour. The complimentary rolls to eat while waiting where fabulous. Ice cream dessert awesome. We would recommend this place for a reasonable price dinner with great service.
- traceybT6311IO (10/5): Lunch 😋 - Went here for lunch it was absolutely beautiful good quality ingredients & very well presented
staff were very friendly & welcoming & ensured we had everything we needed .
Very highly recommend a visit if your looking for great food in a beautiful country pub with stunning garden areas for alfresco dining & they are very dog friendly too .
We had the opportunity to see some of the newly furnished bedrooms which are all stunning & dressed to the highest quality xx
- stevebB6461SC (10/5): Great quality food and lovely newly refurbished rooms - Went for a meal with my fiancee and to view what the rooms are like since refurbishment.
The food was lovely and happy the have peroni on tap.
Rooms looked lovely and will hopefully be looking into a stay at some point soon.
Very nice tranquil area that's nice and quite.
- Tracy (8/5): - .
- Margaret (10/5): - I found the staff welcoming and very friendly. I enjoyed my evening meal and breakfast. The room was very nice and I really enjoyed the deep bath.
I did not like the bright green light that came from a box mounted on the ceiling. It was very bright and I had to arrange my pillows in such a way to block it out in order to sleep. I prefer a darker room to sleep in. Apart from that everything was lovely.
- c (8/5): - Clean, tidy, well appointed rooms - probably stunning location in the summer.
- Shaun (10/5): Outstanding - You will not be disappointed if you stop here everything is amazing food hospitality beds rooms everything 10 out of 10
- Roger (8/5): Nice little hotel. - A nice hotel thats not without its problems but overall i had a nice stay the staff are very helpful and restaurant food is excellent .
- Gina (10/5): - Lovely warm welcome. Great room. Excellent Service
- a (8/5): Recommended hotel/restaurant outside Chichester - Enjoyable stay at a good price. Pretty up to date room with a good breakfast. Offered advocado with the full English when I said I did not want black pudding. Croquet lawn. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free EV charging was a nice plus although I think 2 of the 3 chargers were not working.
The main negative was the noise of a fan turning on and off outside my particular room (Quail). Was annoying.
- Tiffany (2/5): - Awful experience..room was filthy.. dead bugs and flies everywhere..not been cleaned for a while ..over run with mosquitoes at 2 am so had to leave with our 10 week old baby before he was bitten to bits..we booked a week in advance & still cot bed wasn’t in room & Cot bed supplied was stained & dirty ..window don’t shut properly..the worst room I ever seen for it cleanliness ..pretentious food over priced ..! NOT 5 ⭐️ that need to be assessed….
- Lewis (4/5): - Booked this for my wife and I. As it was our first anniversary. Reviews were good and were recommended by a dear friend. The room was full of bugs & dust behind the cabinets that clearly weren’t cleaned properly. So I was very embarrassed, as I try booking something special for my wife but instead after seeing the room like this. We had to go and find a member of staff who had to switch us rooms. As well as they had to notify the cleaner of this.
- Clare (10/5): A wonderful room and clean bathroom. - A comfortable stay in a lovely setting.
Delicious teas in room.
Good menu delicious food.
Only gripe was light on outside for safety reasons not blacjed out by rollerblind.
- eric (8/5): - Excellent and friendly
- J (10/5): Relaxing countryside stay - Had a lovely few night stay with my dog! The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. Really enjoyed just spending the afternoon sitting on their lovely patio drinking a beer and relaxing. It was dead silent at night, so had great night sleeps. And it was really convenient to all the places I visited (Chichester, West Dean Gardens, South Downs National Park, and East Head). Will certainly stay again!
- Alex (10/5): - Amazing spot!

- Caroline (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at The White Hart. I had my birthday during our stay and George was absolutely brilliant setting up a table in the bar for us to have birthday cake and tea. It's a beautiful location and the rooms are lovely. We hope to return soon.
- Adam (10/5): Fantastic Stay - Nicely renovated inn/restaurant with rooms. Our room was spacious and clean. The food in the restaurant and the selection of drinks at the bar where excellent after a day exploring West Sussex .
- Jeremy (10/5): One night country stay! - We had a lovely one night stay. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and tidy, the food was tasty and the breakfast was brilliant. The garden area and country setting was so relaxing. Just what we were looking for. Great value for money and would highly recommend.

- Rachel Elizabeth Alice (10/5): Overnight Delight - Really delightful experience, with a particularly scrumptious breakfast! Down in Bognor Regis for one of my best friend's milestone birthdays and needed a quiet, peaceful, countryside bolt hole to overnight in.
My room was clean, easily accessible and tucked away out of the hubbub of pub flow. I enjoyed the novelty of the four poster bed, the rainfall drench shower, and the tasteful decor. The staff were polite and appropriately attentive. Just lovely.
- Adam (8/5): - Lovely hotel, very friendly and accomodating staff, clean and comfortable accomodation, dog friendly. Had a good night's sleep and a nice breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): Visit Chicister but stay here - Loved the room bedroom which came with it's own courtyard. They had some nice touches including giving us some fresh milk in a flask for teas/coffees in your room. Bed and bathroom very extremely comfortable. Very dog friendly with planty of gound to walk your dog to do it's business. Pub was very attractive inside and our meals were simply delicious (especially the Pork Ribeye) and my full english breakfast was first class. Both ther homemade beer bread and their sourdough were exceptional. Overall a superb stop to stay. Will be back with some friends from overseas as they will love the place.
