Guest Reviews
- Verena (9/5): - Sehr geschmackvoll.
- Vicki (10/5): A beautiful location in Strahan - A stunning location overlooking the water. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
- Angus McLeod (9/5): -
- Lynn (8/5): - The location was fantastic, comfortable accommodation, very quiet and stunning views. We felt the breakfast was a little inadequate for 3 nights.
- Nikki (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): Enjoyable stay and very comfortable bed and enjoyed the glass of complimentary port. - Waterfront view, decorated well and stocked with condiments and very clean and comfortable.
- Jacob (9/5): Stunning location, fantastic stay! - Great stay overall! Easy to check in with a lock box on the door. Parking opposite the accommodation which is great. Friendly touch with bread and butter on arrival. Great options for continental breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Friendly care taker we met while checking in. Easy to be able to cook for ourselves with plenty of utensils. Nice to have access to salt and pepper and olive oil etc. Comfy bed with a great view! Would recommend. It wasn't an issue, but more a suggestion regarding the bathroom. It can get pretty steamy in there leading to towels feeling damp throughout the stay. Maybe a heated towel rack or stronger fan.

- Sharlene (3/5): Beautiful location and very comfortable beach shack. - The beach shack has been beautifully renovated and the host have provided everything you could possibly need. Wifi was included and very reliable. We were in the middle of a month trip through Tasmania and had a lot of luggage and groceries. Ever inch of the beautiful beach shack was full leaving no room for our groceries and we could only bring in one suitcase and squeeze it in at the end of the bed.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Shirley (8/5): Quaint and Tranquility - Quaint and Cosy with nice neighbours and nice breakfast the host prepare for us.
- Peta-Anne (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): A really nice quiet little retreat in a perfect setting. - 100% perfect location and beautiful cottage Nothing
- james (10/5): - Very peaceful spot. Well equipped and organised. Spotless. Slightly tricky getting into and out of bed. To be fair, I did have a TKR in September!
- Ya (9/5): - Great location with nice view. Enjoyed kayaking in the Lettes bay. Like the fire place. Not I can think of
- Dani (9/5): - Quiet, calm, beautiful location
- Avinash (10/5): Beautiful stay, excellent location! - Everything Nothing
- vera (9/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): - The best view and the ducks were so friendly... great accommodation comfortable bed
- Justine (9/5): Hidden paradise - Don't judge a book by it's cover, or in this situation, don't judge the surroundings. My husband did not look impressed as we pulled up amongst the back of the cottages. Once we were in ours, he was very pleased Phew. The view onto the lake was amazing. Waking up and looking over the water, sitting on the bench outside with the ducks coming to say hello, just added that little bit extra that you would never get staying in a large hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was fully functional with fridge, oven, hotplates and a microwave. We loved sitting out at night infront of the fire pit, with the ducks. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The little touches like fresh roses in the vase, port (which we didn't sample, but looked devine, the bread and condiments and the place was already heated when we got there, which was amazing because it was very cold. Although we had clear instructions on where to find the cottage, we did have some issues. The number plaque is covered by the kayaks, so we missed that. I knew it had a red door so we went for a bit of a walk and finally found it. As we were traveling around Tassie, we had large suitcases each. It was raining when we arrived and it was very difficult trying to walk up the slight grassy embankment to get to the cottage. If you could extend the gravel path or pave it, it would be much easier for guests to get to the cottage. Although the bathroom was cosy and well fitted out, the water pressure was underwhelming and a bit disappointing, but it did the job.
- Janett (10/5): Beautiful location, had everything you needed but it is over price for what you get. - I don't want to take anything away from this cute little shack. It had everything you needed. The owner put the heater on before we got there and the electric blanket was on, that was a lovely. There was a loaf of bread, eggs and port for us to drink, lovely gestures.
Loved the duck coming up when we when outside to sit and admire the scenery The bed is extremely high and I did appreciate the little step ladder to get on it but it is the last thing you think of when getting up in the middle of the night so basically it's a big drop when I got off.
The dog barking throughout the night was annoying didn't get much sleep.
- Kim (10/5): Perfect getaway - Amazing location & view, very well stocked, comfortable bed & loved the local ducks. Water pressure in the shower. Don’t think there’s anything that could be done about that. Everything else was spot on.
- Fay (10/5): - I loved everything. Michelle kept me well informed of how everything would go, from finding the little cottage to how to unlock the door. The cottage was incredible, the view of the water. Raised bed so you could see the view better. Beautiful loaf of bread for breakfast with fresh butter and accompaniment. Well equipped kitchen. The cottage was warmed for our arrival. And the fire pit outside looking over the lake was amazing. We didn't like leaving
- Lee (10/5): A wonderful studio that is warm + comfortable with an unbeatable view and the hilarious wild ducks! - The location cannot be beaten.
- Harley (5/5): Seriously 5 out of 10 - Location and availability This is a very small premises, smaller than 'studio". It is crammed amongst a dozen or so shanty looking buildings. Oddly. the bed is set against a wall so not ideal for couples. The bed is also around waist height so being against the wall you have to climb off the end of the bed.
- Anna (10/5): Pure magic! - The property was immaculate and perfect!
- Louise (10/5): Beautiful location, a perfect stay - Excellent Nothing
- Janette (10/5): Serenity - The location was amazing and the cabin was unique. The quietness was spectacular 👌 Nil
- Jeimer (10/5): Cozy Getaway - We absolutely loved our stay at Salt Box Hideaway and couldn't fault a thing! The shack (don't be fooled by the word) was so clean, beautifully styled and the coziest place for a getaway. The bed was really comfy and we loved watching the local bird life from the window early in the morning! The extra goodies for breakfast were wonderful too, the host went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay in Strahan. Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful time, we hope to be back and would recommend this hidden gem to anybody.
- Steven (10/5): A great getaway and scenic place for couples to experience the best of the Tasmanian west coast - The location was superb being right on the water's edge with views across the inlet, including from the breakfast bar. Warn about the many ducks. Hahaha. But they are part of the experience.
- Jodi (10/5): Lovely stay in a quant tiny shack village. Really everything we had hoped for! - We absolutely loved this property. It’s quiet and cute, although tiny, every convenience is covered. Couldn’t have found a more perfect place to relax. It literally at the end of the earth, but so homely so very worth the drive. We also loved the ducks, seals and total peace here. My husband loved the inclusion of a port tipple!
- Anita (10/5): Ducks and on the water-perfection! - We loved the space , the serenity , the water , the ducks.
There was nothing that wasn't thought of from breakfast through to the port, which was a lovely touch.
The bed was lovely and I loved the fact that the bed was high enough to see the water. That we could only stay three nights!
Seriously it was all perfect and we loved every moment of our stay.
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (8/5): A relaxing break in Strahan at our cute, cosy cottage in Lettes Bay amongst the ducks! - A relaxing few days in Strahan to see World Heritage area. Did the Gordon River cruise, Wilderness Railway trip from Queenstown and a few short walks including our favourite at Ocean Beach.
- Mark (10/5): The perfect place to stay for a lovely, relaxing break - The location was marvellous. The Hideaway was right on the water, making it so peaceful. The accommodation itself was compact yet perfect & is beautifully furnished. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t available.
There’s a family of ducks that comes to visit every morning & evening which was a bonus! There was nothing we didn’t like
- Amanda (9/5): What a gem , so cute and beautiful. View amazing, serenity amazing. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful area. - Location, cutest, fully equipped
- Margie (10/5): Just perfect , peaceful , mesmorising - Exactly how presented online!
- Jessica (9/5): Cosy, serene hideaway - Salt Box Hideaway is the most amazing location to stay. The view was incredible and being able to sit on the deck and just enjoy the serenity was wonderful. Although there were many other cabins around, we didn't hear much from them. Nice and quiet spot. Well maintained. Beautiful decor. The ducks were friendly and added to the experience.
The owner communicated well and provided many ideas and information on experiences around Strahan including favourite eating spots and trips. It was a fantastic trip and place to stay and we will be coming back in the near future! Water pressure in the shower wasn't amazing but that is a very minor thing.
- Christopher (10/5): Small in size, big in charm - The view was beautiful, calm, and at the same time, energizing. All the ducks were a funny bonus. Michelle, the owner, was quite responsive even though she was overseas while we were there.
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Dave (10/5): Stunning piece of paradise - Michelle is a fantastic host who really cares that you enjoy your stay and goe's beyond expectations in making sure you have everything you need.
From the quality of the bed linen to the well stocked fridge & provisions.
She has thought of everything..
The location is gorgeous, so quiet you can listen to the ocean hypnotising you to sleep.
Thank you so much for sharing
Just superb 👌 Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (9/5): Would definitely stay again - The facilities were really great, and we appreciated the spacious shower. They were all built to a high standard, and it was very cosy & clean I would have like the property to be a little bit more private. On our first night the neighbours had a fire outside with several people and it made me feel like I was going to be interloper into their evening if we went out onto the deck. It will be so much better when the fire pot is back. As much as the ducks were great, they were a pain if you wanted to leave the door open for some fresh air as it was an amazing summer day when we stayed.
- Wendy (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqui (8/5): Very cute - Very cute and well-appointed fisherman's cabin in a spectacular location on the waterfront of Lettes Bay, and set closely amongst other similar cabins. Resident ducks roaming outside were a novelty. Host Michelle was friendly and helpful. Lots of supplies are in the cabin such as fresh bread, butter, jams, Vegemite, teas, pod coffee machine. Bleach smell from prior cleaning was a bit overpowering for a day or two, and we couldn't air the place out as it was raining and windy. The cabin is VERY small, especially the seating arrangement. You wouldn't want to be overweight at all as the two seater lounge chair is tiny and does not comfortably fit two people in it, tends to dip in the middle and make you lean against each other. Overall, the cabin is cute and lovely, but probably a little overpriced for what it is.
- Kylie (10/5): Piece of Paradise - We had an amazing stay at Salt Box Hideaway. The location is perfect, only meters from the water, it truly is a small piece of paradise! The hideaway is only small but feels so much bigger, the room is spotlessly clean, warm thanks to the lovely heater and the bed is comfortable. The owner Michelle has thought of everything to make your stay perfect! If we are ever fortunate to return, Salt Box Hideaway will be on top of our list!
- Jahn (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect little cozy spot on the water to spend our stay in Strahan.
Made fast friends with the ducks, bed was insanely comfortable, and the hideaway has everything you could need. Beautiful stay.
- Kathleen (10/5): What a gem! We absolutely LOVED our stay at the ‘shack’. Generous provisions, beautifully set up and decorated, comfy be - What a gem! We absolutely LOVED our stay at the ‘shack’. Generous provisions, beautifully set up and decorated, comfy bed, great location - absolute waterfront. Loved it all
- Angela (10/5): It’s a quacker - Loved everything - gorgeous, well-appointed and cosy cottage with a view and bonus ducks. Nothing - we didn’t see anywhere in Strahan we would have preferred to stay.
- Sindy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ralph (8/5): Very good -
- Irvine (10/5): Lovely view with friendly quackery. - The duckies.
- Jessica (10/5): Honestly amazing location - Private, cozy and beautifully clean
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely stay - Amazing location, very relaxing. The ducks were very cute. The cabin was very nice. Nothing.
- Christie (10/5): Relaxing at Lette Bay - It was so idyllic, a great place to relax.
- Jocelyn (8/5): Lovely and serene location and everything you could need for a few days. - The location and water view is amazing. Being off-season it was super quiet. You almost needed a step ladder to climb into bed, but we had fun with it.
- Allison (10/5): We were sad to leave the Salt Box, it is such a cozy space. - We absolutely loved our stay at the Salt Box and were sad to leave! The location was perfect for our three night getaway, the space was so comfortable and have everything we needed. We were surprised how spacious it felt, even on a day where it rained an insane amount. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to return in the future! Nothing!
- Mary (10/5): Cute and cozy - This was our cutest stay in Tassie! The ducks waking you up in the morning are so cute. The location was amazing with how close it is to town and the fire pit in front was a favourite!

- David (9/5): Superb -
- Melissa (9/5): Superb - Peaceful beautiful place & they were kind enough to organize a cheese platter for us Loved it :)
- James (9/5): Superb - The beach front location is amazing and a very quick drive to Strahan. A little hard to find in the dark but instructions helped us through in the end.
- Peter (9/5): A delightful cottage stay. - Peaceful outlook over the inlet. Cosy and comfortable cottage accommodation. Wild ducks at the water’s edge completed the experience. Nothing.
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful peaceful spot. Nothing...

- Peter (10/5): Tranquillity and views - Location, interior decoration, Nothing
- Christoph (10/5): Absolute recommendation - Very nice location, well equipped -
- Yi (5/5): location is good, for the money I paid, i can have better service and facility. not recommended. - Location is great and quiet. The surrounding holiday houses are very poor constructed and maintained. The whole area looks like a cheap camp site next to the water. Breakfast is very poor. only opened half pack of bread, some cereal, honey and jam, no other things at all. Breakfast is very poor. Bed next to the wall is not convenient. The overall cost for the room is very high, $320 for a room like this is no value for money. For the money I paid, I can have better service and facility. Not recommended.
- Robyn (9/5): Superb -
- Leann (8/5): Very good -
- Guy (6/5): It was a great spot to stay, and despite our Didn't Likes, it is the place to stay in Strahan. - Location, brilliant being on the water with great views, the ducks and having a TV. The accommodation was modern, well appointed and very clean. Bed against the wall was a big NO, console and table were a constant trip hazard (legs sticking out), lounge uncomfortable, and too much stuff in cupboards. It would also be a plus to have an awning over the deck so usable in the drizzle.
- Samantha (10/5): Highly recommended!! - Room was very clean, great location, overall beautiful vibe Nothing
- Kate (8/5): Very good - The location is amazing. It was so quiet and secluded Some more comfortable outdoor furniture would be nice. It’s lovely having the door and windows open to hear the little waves but there are no fly screens. Ended up with lots of flies ( and a couple of wasps) inside
- Daryl (10/5): Perfect location - Arrived at this idyllic little property, greeted by the resident ducks & babies. The scenery was fabulous. The host left several things for us to enjoy. A big thank you..
Very comfortable bed.
The little village has a fabulous cruise you can go on and a great little play you can watch. Would highly recommend both. There is also lovely places to eat.
The host was easy to contact. We would highly recommend this property. Nothing really
- Debra (10/5): The best way to experience Strahan - Lovely waterside shack which has been thoughtfully decorated. All creature comforts and a nice provision of breakfast items helped to make our stay a very memorable one.
- Merrilyn (9/5): Small but perfectly formed with amazing waterfront views and resident wildlife including seals! - Waterfront peAceful location Lots of flies!
- Renate (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic and quiet location, great views
Comfy bed, very well equipped kitchen
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - Very unique and awesome property highly recommended
- Lynette (9/5): Nature and serenity - It was so quiet and serene.
The family of ducks were gorgeous.
The seal playing in the harbour was great entertainment.
A lovely peaceful place not far from the restaurants etc in Strahan Neighbours dog… but you can’t help that!
- Laurie (10/5): 2 days in a piece of paradise. Thankyou for allowing us to share. - Location was incredible.
- Katerina (10/5): Peaceful, romantic and comfy 👌🏻 - Picturesque and peaceful. Beautifully appointed and well equiped. Great location. Nothing !

- Pavel (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful 😌 And the cutest ducks! 🥰 Nothing
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Location
Style of the villa
- Jo (9/5): Quaint location and wonderful glamping experience. The port was a lovely bonus - Beautiful location
Exquisite indoor decor
- Niuosha (9/5): Relaxing, nostalgic stay - Quietness, very well decorated, attention to every single detail A bit distanced from the centre
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - Easy self check in process. Unit is fit with a full kitchen/bathroom/board games/lounge - everything you need for a short stay away from home. Resident ducks will greet you when you arrive and throughout your stay. No designated parking spot but plenty of street parking available
- Peter (10/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - Best stylish modern and functional interior. Large painting on end wall next to bed. Was easily bumped as bed is against that wall. We moved it elsewhere and replaced it prior to leaving. I would remove the pic from its frame and glue it to the wall like wallpaper, that would be much better.
- Kate (9/5): We loved our stay here, very peaceful and the views across the bay are stunning. The cabin is very small, but we spent t - Stunning view over Lette’s Bay, a really peaceful location, comfortable bed, kitchen well appointed to be able to self cater. A small space, kitchen/lounge/dining/bed all in one space, not much room for luggage, bed up against the wall makes it tricky to get out of bed, a bbq would be great so any cooking smells are kept outside.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning location, right on the water.
- Sean (10/5): Best possible start to our Tassie holiday. - Everything LOL Nothing
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Fabulous location and very peaceful. Lovely breakfast and plenty of instructions on how to use everything.

The ducks were amazing A little far out of town
