• Melanie (7/5): Hat sich gelohnt. Für den Preis ist es wirklich toll. - Es war alles sauber und eine tolle Ausstattung hatte das Hotel. Die Lage war für uns nicht schlecht weil wir mit einem Bus gleich zu unserem Ziel gekommen sind. Die privaten Onsen im Hotel waren toll und auch dass man diese nicht reservieren musste. Das Hotel war schon etwas älter und dadurch waren Flecken in der Badewanne. Auch hatte das Zimmer einen sehr eigenen Geruch aber man gewöhnt sich daran. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung. Gab einiges an Auswahl, war aber nicht beste Qualität.

Fuji from its parking lot (on the clear day) and took some good pictures. The room was a bit old. The facility looked a bit outdated. The price was not the cheapest in the area.

• Daniela (7/5): It was good - can be improved by a lot - The breakfast was nice, staff was great and very helpful, location is good since it is walking distance to lake Ashi and very close to bus station that takes you to other areas of Hakone. The private onsens were available to use whenever you like, and there was always one that's free. Cleanliness was not on a good level. A provided towel in the room was stained and the toilet seat was also stained when we checked in. Another thing I did not like is that we were not informed that the cleaning staff would enter our room during our stay when we did not request it. They should either inform you of that, or they should ask or wait for you to request it when you leave the room for the day.

• Zoe (9/5): Lovely location and perfectly satisfactory for a night - The property is in a beautiful location and we were lucky to see a fabulous view of Mt Fuji from the hotel driveway and garden. We hadn’t reserved dinner but were informed that there are three local restaurants who would pick us up and drop us home. After a long drive, it was great to be able to look at the three menus and the staff kindly booked the one we chose and organised a pick up time. The staff are very polite. There’s no getting away from the fact the hotel is dated. For a large hotel, the room was smaller than the one we had in Tokyo…no cupboard and very little space to open up a suitcase. I think they assume you will use the onsen, either the communal one (men’s and women’s are separate) or private ones as the room had no shampoo and conditioner and just a bar of soap. (Toothbrushes, a comb and razors are provided). We booked a non-smoking room but unfortunately, the smoke from other areas of the hotel still reached our room.

• Ari (7/5): Peaceful stay with a breeze of history - Peaceful place. Views to mt. Fuji from the hotel front yard. Onsens were ok and not crowded. Staff was really friendly. GO board game room was delight for our 10y daughter. Hotel is quite outdated, it has been few decades from its peak years. Inside hotel there is a fusty odor probably originating from old whole floor carpet covering all spaces. Onsens are also in quite original state but did their trick. We did not try hotel dinner since it was hefty expensive 6600 jpy/person to our pay grade. Location is isolated. For instance, nearest grocery store is 6-7 km away and not much activities/restaurants within walking distance. On positive note, Hakone ropeway Tokedai station is just ~1km away.

The hotel is close to the ropeway and pirate ship, walking distance about 15 minutes through a trail that is pretty. The cleaning was poor, the room we stayed in had stained walls and carpet was not clean.

Vil du spise på en annen restaurant enn hotellets, har de avtale med 3 ulike. Du blir hentet til/fra gratis til restaurantene. Fikk ikke spise på restauranten. Måtte reservere tidlig på dagen.

• Katsiaryna (10/5): Amazing experience! - The private onsens available anytime (I guess we were just lucky). The overall vibe of the place is like a spa for the elderly - which is really an advantage. We’ve seen young people there of course but it’s like a place for those who are tired of fancy places. When you come out of the hotel you can see mister Fuji if he’s in a good mood. Maybe slippers could be personal and used once per guest - there were multiple usage slippers in the room but I don’t know how they are cleaned by the staff.
• John (7/5): Good value for money - Great location. - The location was perfect for me - clear view of the awesome Mount Fuji from the bottom of the drive, just a minutes walk from reception. It was also just a 10/15 stroll downhill to Lake Ashi, where you'll also find the Ropeway, cafe and restaurant, and the Pirate ships that can be used for to get to the other side to extend your exploring. It takes a bit longer walking back up to the hotel from the lake, as it is quite steep. However, there is an excellent bus service you can use if you wish. Which also comes in handy of an evening, as I would recommend you eat out. Breakfast is very good, i didn't eat there in the evening as you have to pre-book and I hadn't heard good reports about it. Room was massive, but like the rest of the hotel tired and dated (very 1970's) The bathroom was poor so I used the facilities in the onsen, which I loved and needed, as I walked miles during the day Tired and dated establishment. The bathroom was not particularly inviting to use due to the age of the fittings.

• Andreas Luis (4/5): Disappointing, simple but it’s what you pay for. - Breakfast was good for the price of the hotel but nothing to boast about. Simple Japanese breakfast with eggs and bacon, and other smaller dishes. Dinners were expensive, pretentious but nothing crazy. The first day I had a really interesting dinner but the day after the quality was not the same. Nothing to really say that was exceptional or good. Just decent food and price. What was horrible was leaving to a friend’s hotel at night and coming back at 12 to find the doors of the hotel locked. Didn’t bother finding if there was an alternate entrance cause it was cold so I stayed at my friends place instead.
