- Emily (2/5): - This property is a perfect example of you can’t believe everything you see on the internet. After arriving to the property and spending 10 minutes in the room, we booked another hotel in town and left. There is a code to just enter the front door, you’re given this code on a tiny slip of paper after you find a way in. There is one person at the reception “desk” that is just a beaten up table with a couple chairs. The room keys are actual keys that you are instructed to leave in the drawer behind the desk whenever you leave the hotel. The elevator is barely large enough for a person and a suitcase and the stairs are worn and in need of repair. The room is tiny and the beds are the same with barely six inches of clearance between the bottom of the bed and the floor. The bathroom was similarly small with a grimy stall shower. It was like a hostel. I can only assume the photos online were doctored and the property itself has been submitting the reviews. Otherwise it wouldn’t have such high a rating. When we decided to leave, the front desk person told us that there were other rooms and wanted us to look at them instead of leaving so we “didn’t give them a bad review.” He wasn’t concerned about making us comfortable, he just didn’t want the bad review. That wasn’t the way to make us feel like taking a look at another room and honestly, the room wouldn’t have changed the other parts of the “hotel” that were more concerning.

L'isolation phonique sur rue est inexistante, dommage quand la chambre donne sur une rue passante où se trouve un conteneur à verre utilisé toute la nuit. La chambre voisine était occupée par une prostituée, du coup des vas et viens et des cris toute la nuit ! Nuit blanche imposée, j'essaie de prendre une douche le matin pour me réveiller.... Pas d'eau chaude !!!! (La douche a marché toute la nuit dans la chambre de notre voisine) Si on ajoute à celà une mauvaise literie, la boucle est bouclée... Fuyez ! Surtout à ce prix !!!

- Fiona (2/5): Disgusting smell coming from toilet - Check in was late as our flight got in at 11pm. The boy on reception was very polite and check in was hassle free. However when we got to our room there was a horrible smell like sewage. After going to use the toilet and leaving the seat up we realised the smell was coming out of the toilet. I immediately went to complain to the boy at reception, who was friendly but only able to give us some air freshener. I asked for another room but they were fully booked. I asked if i could get compensation and he said he would speak to his mother. This was after midnight and I was travelling with my 7 year old. I complained about the smell again the next morning at check out and asked about the compensation. Another man was at reception, he had been told about the smell by his colleague and said he would make sure they used something to treat the toilet but he said there was nothing he could offer me. He said he could have given us a free breakfast but we had already eaten elsewhere. For any hotel, of any number of stars the smell of the room was unacceptable.

- David (10/5): Fantastic Location - Best value for money Hotel that I could find in Bordeaux ( and I do my research ) without being out in the sticks. This Hotel is literally in the centre of town and all the main attractions. Staff were all extremely pleasant. As with all city centre hotels, it can be a little noisy at nights, but that didn't bother us. Very pleased with our stay at the Bleu de Mer and would highly recommend.

A nice touch to get some wine in the room. Fantastic situation right in the town but near to the trams to the station. The maps were very welcome. Some tea and coffee making in the room would be a nice improvement. But good value overall.
- sara (8/5): Charmigt hotell av äldre sort med bra läge - Fantastiskt läge, nära till allt. Super hjälpsam personal som verkligen gick Above and beyond. Huset är gammalt och denna tiden på året är det fuktigt i Bordeaux (april) därför var det även ganska fuktigt inomhus. Dock är det ju normalt i denna typ av byggnad så det var egentligen att vänta. Jag hade önskat bättre städning av handdukar och i badrummet men överlag var det en bra vistelse.

I guess having 2 large suitcase didn’t help….The breakfast was lovely and in a very nice environment. The location of the hotel was great! So much to explore around the area. - Meghan (10/5): - Perfect location right behind Place de la Bourse (2 min walk), in the center of good restaurants and wine bars. It’s located very close to the tram stop and lots of monuments. Staff spoke English well enough to be accommodating and helpful, and everyone was welcoming. The room was small as to be expected for Europe, but had everything we needed and was clean and safe. Hallways and doors are very small but there is an elevator for bringing luggage up and down the stairs. Highly recommend this hotel.

- Peter (8/5): Convenient location to stay and explore - Hotel is conveniently located to explore Bordeaux and was very welcoming and pleasant. The one way traffic system is a nightmare so set your sat nav to the car park advised on their website, not to the hotel! Overall very happy and would stay again - the complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch.

- Mary (8/5): - Location, location, location! This hotel is in the ideal spot to explore Bordeaux--right off the Place de la Bourse, with a tram stop practically on the doorstep. It is also quite close (1 tram stop) to Place de Quinconces, which is a major transit hub. The area around the hotel is full of restaurants and shops, so lots of options for local dining. The room itself was fine--small, with a fairly tiny bathroom (I had to angle my rather large body around the sink to use the toilet), but adequate. Our shower curtain was a bit gross, and didn't do that great a job of stopping the bathroom from getting soaked. But everything was at the level you'd basically expect for a 2 start property (or maybe a little better). I will note that this hotel is in a pedestrian area, so if you are driving, you cannot just drive up to the hotel. Make sure you check the hotel's website for parking details. There is a huge underground parking lot with an exit literally across the street from the hotel, so if you follow their instructions, and manage to find the correct exit (which has an elevator) it's okay. It would probably be a good idea to park, go check in, and then retrieve your luggage, since it's much easier to find the correct exit from street level. We guessed wrong and ended up with a bit of a hike (up stairs) with our stuff.

The red carpet was stained, the ceiling wall was stained (previous water damage was visible), the shower pan caulking was stained, water damage to vanity. For the price - it could have been better. My plan was to stay for one day so I went with a boutique hotel but this was more of a budget motel that i paid 90euros. I didn’t sleep under the covers. Good WI-FI. Very reliable

- William (8/5): - This is a stripped-down basic service in a central location, very good value provided one does not expect any hint of luxury. Staffing is minimal but efficient, the room quiet, simply furnished and maintained. All the essential facilities were in good working order and the self-service breakfast at 10 euros extra was just about adequate. The hotel does badly need a firm hand on the housekeeping, especially in the public areas. Landings and corridors are very narrow. The spiral staircase, which we used in preference to the cramped lift, in particular showed signs of neglect, with aging paint and peeling wallpaper. At least four loose stair-rods which could easily become dangerous weren't attended to during our four days.

- Karmen (8/5): - My stay with Hotel Bleu de Mer was great. The location was fantastic, right by the biggest attractions. The room was clean and the perfect size. Everything was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I did have a bit of a hard time getting the toilet to flush well, but I just flushed a couple of times. Also, the shower was slippery and with a step I could see that being hazardous so just be careful. The hotel has a really old quaint charm, but it doesn't sacrifice modern comfort. I would definitely stay there again.

- Sevim Cimen (8/5): Very good location - Pros: The location is amazing, right in the center. Only one minute away from Place de la Bourse and nice restaurants. The staff is very nice and friendly. We were even offered a bottle of wine. Cons: The hotel and the room look very much like a cheap hotel. No amenities like shower cap, lotion, bottled water etc. So if you don’t look to spend much time at the hotel room and discover the city by walking, this is a very good place.

Expensive for what it was - had just come from a hotel in the centre of Toulouse where we paid the same price for something with much more comfort, fridge, water, coffee machine, toiletries, safe etc. We booked late and choice was limited, so fine - but wouldn’t go back.

There's no A.C and our wifi gave some trouble, so we were unable to make bookings for our onward travels. The bathroom is large, but the drainage in the shower didn't allow the water to leave easily. We informed reception and they apologized and even gifted us with a bottle of wine at check out.

- Sherry (8/5): Very welcoming, perfect location. - The staff at Hotel Acanthe were so welcoming and helpful, and the location is perfect, just a few blocks from many restaurants and bars, easy access to the river and the tram. Because our room was on the street side, it was noisy, and because the weather was hot and there's no air conditioning, we had to open windows. The hotel can't do anything about this, but it's worth knowing -- if only so you can ask for a room off the street.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, and worth the price I guess. Able to walk to any of the parks or museums. Helpful staff. Shower had some mildew, and the bathroom is so small you’ don’t have room to turn around without hitting the door. Key system is odd.

- Veronica (8/5): Superb Location - Superbly located and good value hotel near all the main sites and within the old part of Bordeaux. The rooms are small and only a double sized bed. The bed would have been more comfortable without the waterproof mattress cover which was a) very hot and b) caused the bottom sheet to constantly ruffle up. Due to its central location, you may wake early (around 5-6am) with the sound of what I assumed was a road cleaner and/or the noise of the school children in the playground opposite at around 8.30am. I would still definitely recommend this hotel though. Breakfast (if you choose to have it here) is limited in choice and quite expensive for what is on offer (10€ pp). More choice would have been good. Coffee is good.
- Luiz Rizental (10/5): Heart of Bordeaux - The hotel is on the heart of Bordeaux. We just walked to visit the most important places. There are a lot restaurants and bar around. Bordeaux is beautiful and the hotel was the best so far. We would like to thank you the twins brother that were very kind of us, help us a lot.
- Michael (10/5): Great hotel for your stay in Bordeaux! - The hotel was excellent; great central location and beautiful hotel. The hotel staff were amazing and so welcoming and helpful. They really went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable and carefree as possible. Laura (probably misspelled her name) was the main reservation hostess during the day and she made the hotel so very welcoming and offered tourist assistance that made the visit very successful.
- Rose (10/5): - The location was perfect and the staffs were very kind. The room was spacious and I really enjoyed the stay. The amenities were not luxurious, however, enough for the general stay.
- Michael (8/5): Perfect in-town spot - Nice place. If you want to be in the heart of downtown Bordeaux, this is it. Takes some € to Uber from the airport, but once inside town newish trains go everywhere. Breakfast is basic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location with cosy accommodation. - This hotel is an amazing location. Service was generally excellent and breakfast is the typical continental style. Best to bring your own hair dryer if visiting when it is not summertime.
- Menaka (6/5): Good for a short stay - It was average. The carpark was full despite having paid. The corridor was dark. Otherwise location is very good i.e.close to main street where restaurants and shops are located. Room was very clean. Renovated to a good standard. Equipped with electric jug, tea and coffee.

- Michelle (10/5): Great stay - fantastic location - This hotel is perfectly situated for a stay in fantastic Bordeaux. It’s only 2 star but perfectly adequate and clean and a stones throw from all the wonderful sights and squares to eat and drink. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
- Robert S (8/5): Excellent choice in the historic center of Bordeau - The Acanthe Hotel has a superb location, literally in the center of historic Bordeaux, just a few steps off the Place de la Bourse and very near the Garonne River and its riverside park. The hotel is easily accessible by tramway from the train station and by tramway a guest can access virtually all the city's main attractions, including the excellent Cité des Vins (which can also be reached by a ferry that docks on the riverside nearby). The Acanthe is on a street full of restaurants of all types, cuisines, and price ranges, and many more restaurants are on the surrounding streets. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the breakfast is well worth the 9€ cost. In the summer, be sure to reserve an air-conditioned "Confort" room, rather than a cheaper "Standard" room, because Bordeaux can get hot and the street can be noisy.
