Guest Reviews
- lisafV5721UY (10/5): Unforgettable - The husband and I stayed at Zum Achten Himmel for four nights. The Hosts, Tatyana, and Mark, were very pleasant and made us feel at home. It was the great conversation with them and their care of any of our needs that made our stay memorable. The cleanliness of the rooms and personal touches, the convenience of the location in Klotten, right on the Mosel River, and the fantastic Riesling wine made our stay unforgettable. I recommend this place if you need a great escape from routine in an excellent place, one of the most beautiful valleys in Europe, for an affordable price and a like-home feeling.
- Eric (8/5): Great place to stay near Cochem - Nice family run hotel with helpful hosts. Enjoyed conversations over breakfast about the local area and things to do. Clean large room with view over the street. Free Riverside parking a short walk from the hotel. Nice alternative to staying directly in Cochem.
- Chantal (10/5): Des hôtes en or.
Freundliche Gastgeber. Was will man mehr im Urlaub.
- Maria G. (8/5): Economical location, no elevator - Pros: Very clean, nice breakfast, quiet town, economical
Cons:
No elevator: It would have been good to know that our room would be three flights up and the B&B does not have an elevator.
Possible communication issues: The woman who greeted us had a difficult time explaining where to park, and did not ask for payment. This was due to my low proficieny in German coupled with her ability to speak English. In addition, I expected her to ask for payment or let me know that they already took payment. She finally said "But you must pay" as I was handing in the keys. I imagine the situation made her uncomfortable.
Even with the communication issues and lack of elevator, I would return.
- Stefn (8/5): Zum Achten Himmel - Vänligt par, som drev pensionatet. Mycket trevligt bemötande. Härlig, riklig frukost. Rummet var bra.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nettes kleines Zimmer mit sympathischen Gastgebern. Alles super!
- Heinz (8/5): - Very nice owners; breakfast was good and overall a pleasant stay. Would stay there again.
- 2289oneteaspoon (10/5): Overnight stay short and sweet - Stayed at the pension for one night only. Everything was perfect.
The room
Was clean big and with equipment with lovely furniture, the hosts wear the most friendly people in the world nd the breakfast was not to be missed the next day. Bread rolled cereal fruit -it was perfect . Do yourself a favour and stay here
- iraandgary (10/5): Highly recommended - There are charm of the famous Mosel vine , the best of the best! And the essence of the concept is to achieve universal enjoyment and daily joy from life in its purest form with hosts Mark and Tatyana.
- Travelsfrombelgium (2/5): Not exactly recommended - This is a lovely b&b if you like antiquated design that seem like it came straight out of the 1950s. Rugs everywhere, smell of mothballs included, and food like your granny used to make. If you're lucky (and you probably will be) the owner will entertain you endlessly with his fascinating stories (which seem like they never end, you won't get a word in!) He'll even join you at the dinner table, and keep you entertained through the night. There's also the lovely dog wandering underneath the tables, who is adorably deaf, has five hairs left, and enjoys the occasional kick from his owner.
Accomodations: you'll get six hours of wifi if you ask nicely.
Hygiene: mediocre
Prices: not as advertised on the website, we paid substantially more for both the room and for dinner
Book/visit at your own risk.
- LOK SUN (8/5): Small but Friendly Hotel - This is a small hotel run by a family in the small town Klotten. Although the lobby is tiny, the bedrooms are spacious with specially designed beddings and attractive decorations. The restaurant downstairs only provided breakfast so we had our dinner elsewhere in a nearby bar and restaurant. There are free parking spaces along the river bank not far away from the hotel. It was only a short drive to the attractions of Cochem Castle and Moselle Promenade.
- Tom (10/5): Great guesthouse for Hiking and Wine experience! - We stayed at this guesthouse for one night when we were hiking in the region. The hotel has an excellent location in the village near the restaurants and wine bars. The hotel is clean and the breakfast was basic but sufficient. The owners are friendly. Excellent value for money!
- Mike (8/5): - This was exactly what we expected: clean, simple, not fancy, but a great place for a good night's sleep. The breakfast was generous and delicious, and the proprietors were friendly and welcoming.
- irasndgary (10/5): Good times flow like the River Mosel at the Zum Achten Himmel in Klotten - We had such unforgettable time in that place. Tatyana and Mark create an ambiance. They make us to feel very special. Just like at home 5000 miles away from home. The rooms are large, comfortable and very clean. Location is perfect. Right at the heart of the town. The food they cook for us was fresh and wholesome.
- Frank19602014 (8/5): pleasant - the owners are warm and helpful and excellent guides. mark is about to write a book on klotten - well worth it. klotten is a very convenient place anyhow - good wine houses, railway station and close to cochem
- jeffm462 (8/5): A Pleasant Surprise! - This was the first time we have stayed in a B&B, and we were very, very pleasantly surprised! We had just checked out of the Hilton in Mainz, the next night going to a Novotel in Luxumbourg and then to a Marriott in Paris. But staying at "The Eighth Heaven" was like staying with old friends. Marc and Tatyana made us feel right at home and were very gracious hosts. After checking in to our very comfortable and very clean rooms, with very modern bathrooms, we took a short stroll to the Mosel river for dinner. On our return, we were invited in to a small party with some of the other guests and had a fun and memorable evening. There was no language barrier, as our hosts were able to speak Dutch, German, English and even Russian. Marc even introduced me to some very nice Belgian beers!
- Irina711 (8/5): Nice Bed and Breakfast, welcoming host - Very nice, clean bed and breakfast. Close to Cochem, the host will drive you to Cochem and will pick you up later. We were there during wine festival and could not find any rooms available in Cochem so book this B&B in Klotten and had very pleasant experience. Host and his wife are very friendly and helpful. Good location, close to Mosel. Good breakfast
- r_stanzel (8/5): Very Friendly Hosts - Nice B&B, just a few minutes away from the river Moselle. I had a single room during my stay which was very good value for money. The host couple speak many languages; the room was basic, but clean. The breakfast is up to German standard and plentiful. The host is very knowledgeable of the area and when asked, provides you with a wealth of information about Klotten and surroundings. It's not far from beautiful fairy tale castle 'Burg Eltz'. When you travel by car, parking might be a bit of an issue. I was parking my hire car at the river and walked 3 minutes up to 'the 8th Heaven'.
