- Mateusz (2/5): - Although check-in was friendly, the room was smelly, then the second room had no working air conditioning, and third room was dirty. Bed sheet was not washed and stained with some sort of dirt like poop or blood, the toilet was filthy, trash can still had garbage such as shaving blades from pervious guests. There is trash scattered around the property, even in the laundry room there is garbage laying on the floor and the floor was full of dirt. Everything was so dirty, I left a few hours later and didn't stay for a night.

I kept pressing buzzer finally got back in car called hotels and got operater she called hotel and manager said she was standing in front I told operator no one was there. The manager came out of back room. She said I did not press buzzer. I am hard of hearing and I could hear it.

- Barbara (6/5): Convenient - This was a tiny down on the way to nowhere which was exactly where we were headed ...2300 miles in 3 days. The best thing about this hotel was the doughnut shop right down the street. It was very convenient to our highway and we lost no time . If in the area, we would stay here again.
- Chris (2/5): - Terrible conditions. Sheets and blankets yellowed and stained. Electrical sockets wouldn't hold the plugs. However, the worst thing was the bug infestation. It was not apparent until late in the evening, but when I walked in the bathroom before bed, it was literally swarming with ants and roaches. I often stay in lower priced basic hotels when traveling since I'm only there overnight and, since I book on Expedia, I thought it would be the typical plain jane room I booked it on line for what was supposed to be $72, but was charged over $78. I couldn't stay and left at 11:00 pm to stay in another hotel. Please, avoid this hotel.
- Doyle (8/5): quiet sta - The bed was great I like a firm bed. The room was warm because the a/c wasn't on until I turned it on. The carpets was warn and someone had dropped a hot iron and melted it. The room was clean and no bad odors. Pizza Hut and Sonic i walking distance as well a a Velero next door. A bank and ATM across the street. I had a quiet night stay.

- Tanya (6/5): Unexpected Travel - My family and I were traveling home from Mexico after burying my mother who passed unexpectedly. The trip is 22 hrs one way. After 15 hrs of driving, we needed a hotel to rest. The bigger cities on the way to Colorado City had drastically overpriced rooms. We were looking for cheap-we weren’t on vacation afterall. We needed 2 rooms each with 2 beds and we had 2 tiny dogs too. American Inn had the rooms, beds, took pets, and was the least expensive. The a/c took over an hr to cool down the room. But it did cool the room well eventually. The shower water pressure was too low and the water temperature fluctuated wildly. But we did all get showers. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and blow dryer in our room. Overall, the room met our needs for our travel situation.

The towels we're suppose to be white but we're stained and looked brown. The manager didn't believe I had a reservation. I had to show him my phone with the confirmation message. We traveled for 10 days and this was the worst room we stayed at.

- ritchie08 (2/5): Bugs everywhere - Myself & my boyfriend stopped in here late looking for a room. Paid $72 & went to room for key not to work. Then found out we were given a smoking room so went back to reception to ask to change & was told it was an extra $5 which we paid. Key for new room then didn't work again so had to go back to reception. Then when we finally got into the room it was covered in dead bugs & spider webs! We went back & complained & asked for our money back! Would not recommend anyone to stay here!
- BuckIII (2/5): No no no - One of the worst places to stay in West Texas. Only stay here if desperate. Innkeeper is not friendly or helpful, rooms are awful. We were hunting and stayed two nights. The toilets stopped up and sewage spilled into the parking lot and was not cleaned up. Will never go back.
- Buyholdsell (6/5): No rooms, had to stop, 8-9 PM - Thank goodness for a room, but couldn't breath, my wife was fine. I'm allergic to cats and may be why. The building was nicely painted, the room was very clean, cost 79. for the night. I couldn't sleep but everything seemed fine. Didn't see a pool - wasn't looking. The Inn was close to the InterState highway. Seems someone worked hard to clean up the place, seeing the other comments, don't know why I couldn't breath in there. 1-29-15 or close to a day or two of date.
- lifebusters (2/5): bed bugs - Smelled and I was eaten alive by bugs. My grandmother was traveling with me and needed to stop. Horrible hotel overpriced at 75 dollars! The pool had no water, why do they call it a pool? I am still itching!
- susanmorgan1963 (2/5): Horrible - I want to say to anyone who needs a room please do not stay here my kids and I litterly rented it walked in seen pee stains all over the toilet beer tabs on the floor the sheets were dirty blood on the pillow it was discusting we didn't use anything we walked out and went to the front to get our money back they were so rude and and didn't give a refund just wanted us to leave didn't offer another room either they said it was dirty from maintenance what a joke huh? Any who there sign clearly says if you have a pet and fail to notify us its in our policy to charge your credit card no refund we got the police involved he claimed we couldn't do anything about it so I mentioned talking to my lawyer about it he said it would do me no good cause the Arabs own everything and it would get us nowhere Oh and also the police said that pee could be from me and my kiddos even though it was dry!!! I recommend anyone looking for a room if this motel is your last option sleep in your car its a lot better then the room you will purchase for $80!!!
- JimT278 (6/5): Over priced - Decent motel, average room. Not worth $70. Lodging in most of west Texas / Permian Basin is overpriced because there are so many oil and gas workers filling up the rooms. I guess there must be a lot of hunters also, because I saw a sign, "Hunters, do not clean deer in room". Ooo-kay. They advertised a continental breakfast from 6 - 9 am. Well, we checked it out at 8 am, and the dining room was totally dark and deserted. There was a bit of juice in the fridge, no milk, no pastries, no fruit. The only thing to eat was dry cereal in the usual dispensers. And no one at the front desk to complain to. Overall, an okay place to sleep, but if you have other options, I wouldn't recommend it.
- 982HARRYP (2/5): Horrible Experience - Had to ask for toilet paper - none in room Manager extremely rude - actually hung up the phone on me when I called with a complaint. In the morning when I addressed this with him he said i called too late (10:30 pm) but that was when our television went off in the middle of a show and we did not know if it was ours or all of them. I did not pursue the issue when he hung up as I was sure he would throw us all out of hotel at night. His attitude was beyond belief and this hotel should be closed. Is it part of a chain that has a head office that perhaps could be interested in the service we received?
- rbrssard (4/5): Third best of three - An older motel in fair to poor condition. The continental breakfast is the worst I ever saw. I did not partake. Staying here is like taking a step back in time to 1970 without the shag carpet. I would stay here again only if the other motels had no rooms available.
- Matador1989 (2/5): Nightmare - I'll keep it short. Wanted $65 haggled to $55. Room was dirty, people were rude, swimming pool was a disgrace. We cycled 100 miles to this destination and came away with the worst bed bug bites we have ever had, they didn't seem to care and it was hard to track the owners down as they were not at the front desk! Do not stay here!
- jlw1979 (2/5): Place needs to be closed down!!! - I am a disabled moving with my husband (still active duty) and children. I have two service dogs due to my medical problems from serving. They wanted to change me extra for my dogs, which is not allowed by law! Once, I told them that they said the room I already paid for was no longer available. I told them I would be contacting a lawyer the next day due to no only taking my money for a room but not allowing me my service dogs. They changed the minds and allowed us to stay. They said they have never hear of service dogs!!! What??? You've owed the hotel for 30 yrs and been in America for at least that long and never heard of service dogs!!! The room was worse thing, no hot water/dirty beds/ect. Would have gone some where else if we hadn't been trying for 4 hrs already and everywhere else was booked full (three different towns and between!). It was late and needed sleep since we still had two to three more days of driving! This place needs to be shut down!!!
- NinaS726 (2/5): Bad Company - This Motel is not the place to stay...the owners/managers are very rude,unhelpful and very noisey! My husband paid for adults& children to stay in a double bedroom...and just because we had my brother inlaw and his wife over for the evening the managers had a fit & it escalated into the police being called because the wife of the owner got in my face and was yelling at me.....we paid for nights and only stayed we had to count our losses and move to a differnent motel! The blankets are horrible,the motel in all is dirty, no water in the swimming pool, they "stop in" to check how many people are in the room at all hours of the night, will not refund your money& they could careless if your toilet or your bathtub is clogged! Very bad experiece.....They Days Inn across the highway is an awesome place to stay...very nice people there.
- texasbornlady (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!BEWARE OF THE MANAGERS/OWNERS!!!!! - First of all there is no pool like was stated, and second the hotel manager and his evil wife have the worst customer service skills ever, we stayed there for 2 nights and each day when they thought no one was in there the man and his wife would open the door without knocking and barge in like nobodys business, they said they "were just checking", Checking on what , they were not housekeeping and had NO Business entering our PAID for room for ANY REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was unacceptable and we wanted a refund for the third PAID night and was not given our money back , so we just went to rent next door, at the DAYS INN, I must say that i have never ever been to a more rude, nasty hotel than this in my whole life!!!!!!!!!! Please do not waste ur time or money on this hotel!!
- bama14tx (2/5): worse motel in the county - I went here to get a room for the night. I ask if we could see the room and he said my wife to check out the room and we could finish the paper work. It was room 110, my wife said it had a bad smell to it and no face towels. We went back to the office to get our money back and he said it would put us in another room and his wife would show them to us. And she showed us 2 other room and 1 had a king be and she said it would be more money. So I just ask for my money back and he charged me $5.00 DOLLARS caused my wife washed her hands. So we went to the DAYS INN across the interstate 20 and got a better room with a KING BED and better service for just $10.00 DOLLARS I would recommend the DAYS INN 110% i WOULD NOT LET MY DOG STAY AT AMERICAN INN IN COLORADO CITY, TEXAS
- JAREDSGAM (4/5): Janet's FIRST roadtirip - I am not saying unkind things about this motel, I am merely speaking my truth. Based on deceiving online reviews I stayed at the American Inn and regret it. The pictures that are posted look better than the actual motel. Yes you could say it had been recently remodeled if painting is your definition of remodel. I pulled the very coarse sheets and pilled up blanket and found a silverfish, wonder what I couldn't actually see. After retiring for the evening I pulled the comforter up and realized that the silverfish was the better part of my bedding as there was a STRONG urine odor. My companion's comforter had a brownish red stain completely covering the top of her bedding, Not too big a problem as you don't need the comforter because the air conditioner took forever to get the room bearable much less "cool." The windows were so filthy that I cleaned ours with alcohol and could only clear enough of an area to get a partial view. The electrical is scary. You have to hold the on button down with hand while you try to blow your hair with your other limb. In the lobby they have a note by the check in cards that you "get" one towel per person per day. That's okay because I ONLY stayed one day and I wouldn't have stayed that long if I had visited the rooms before I checked in. My mistake, don't make an assumption that because a motel has a pool that it will actually be usable. Although they "literally" have a pool, I didn't think I should have to ask if it had water. The ice machine doesn't offer any utensil for scooping your ice. I had to rake off a couple layers to get to fresh ice that everyone else hadn't had their hands in. They do have a SINGLE vending machine, of course, it is OUT OF ORDER. I moved to Western Suites which is brand new. The rooms are lovely, clean, comfortable and the staff is extraordinarily helpful. With the AAA or AARP discount which the American Inn doesn't offer, the room is only $14 a night more. Believe me, it would have been a bargain at $40 a night higher. To sum up this ramble - BUYER BEWARE !!
- wibbers (2/5): Manager lied about amenities when making phone reservations, then wouldn't refund money so we could change hotels - Picked this motel based on a posted review...the review was wrong! Price nowhere close, (it was 70)the bedding was dirty, the "pool" that I specifically asked about was empty, they tried to overcharge us, windows filthy, and when we asked for our money back so we could move to a different motel, they were extremely unbelievably rude, and refused to give us our money back. We had paid cash, so that was our first mistake. When I asked him why he had told us he had a pool, when he didn't, he said....and I'm not kidding here..."technically....literally...we didn't lie. We DO have a pool...it just doesn't work so we had to drain it. But we DO have a pool!" They also said they have wireless internet...and they sort of do...but it's on/off/on/off. Couldn't use our computers much at all. The electrical in the bathroom was probably against code...we couldn't even plug in our hair dryers etc because the plug ins weren't polarized. They had a hair dryer that didn't work...probably because they had to file down the plug to make it fit! I took plugs like these out of my parents house back in the 80's.
- AdrianS76 (10/5): Best Deal in Town! - This is by far the best deal in town. Not a luxury hotel, but the best 2 star hotel I've stayed in, it puts many 3-4 stars to shame. The rates are a great bargain. The hotel is newly remodeled and very clean. The service is good overall. Location is good, very quiet and safe.
