- Matthew (10/5): My fiancée and I had a wonderful stay! Between a great Onsen, good food, and a nice traditional room, we had an amazing - It was quiet, peaceful, and well-organized.

- lea (10/5): Moment hors du temps - Un moment hors du temps. Je ne crois pas avoir déjà eu un service si parfait accueillant et chaleureux. Le cadre est magnifique, confortable et une grande sérénité.
- Sofija (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fränk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blerina (10/5): Beautiful stay and experience - Everything was beautiful and dinner and breakfast were served privately. Amazing.
- Ann (10/5): Peaceful luxury with our own dining room, our own spa like bathhouse and course after course of delicious japanese cuisi - We were met at the gate. The staff could not be more welcoming. It was clean, comfortable and in my opinion a very authentic setting. Nothing
- Cole (10/5): Exceptional - The service was exceptional! I believe we had access to a shared bathroom and bath house, but we didn't see another guest the whole time - it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The meals were varied and delicious and they included seasonal dishes. The garden is beautiful and we felt like we were in the forest, not a city. We stayed one night and took advantage of the bath house in the evening and again in the morning. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing! Communication was a little difficult but we used Google Translate and it worked out okay. A guide for wearing the yukata they provided would have been useful.
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hasrun (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing experience, beautiful place, most kind staff ever! I enjoyed and liked everything.
- Snezana (10/5): Stay in Heihachi Tea House Inn was easily the highlight of our anyway amazing 2 week stay in Japan! - This is such a beautiful place to stay! Located in the city, but feels like you are miles away from it. Quite, comfortable and magical both during the day and in the night. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, the room authentic and comfortable and the food is divine. The sauna and bath experience is just a wonderful bonus. We had an amazing time!

- Carole (10/5): We would live to return with more family and friends. Our hosts were so gracious and helpful. Truly a special place. - Riverside location with a waterfall right out our back windows. The facility is enveloped in lush greenery and sakura which were in full bloom. The charming train was a short walk away and gave us access to all of Kyoto.
- Megan (10/5): An incredible Japanese experience - Wow, what an incredible place to stay in Kyoto. We stayed one night and it was a perfect cultural experience that we will treasure from our trip in Japan. From the private multi-course dinner to wearing yukata to the bathhouse, it was excellent. The staff were warm and welcoming. We would love to stay again. Not a negative but something to be aware of - showers are in the male or female bathhouses on the property and are not private as Westerners might expect. This was something we knew about and didn't mind, we had the place to ourselves in the evening, but worth noting to those who might be uncomfortable with such an arrangement.
- Hutcheson (9/5): Superb -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caleena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mick (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed the Kaiseki meal on both occasions. A must try.
the onsen was fantastic and very quite.
Beautifull location the river was very noisy of an evening when trying to sleep
- Omaresp (10/5): Exceptional - Kaiseki good and personal service
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Dinner Breakfast
- Cathrine (10/5): Incredible experience! - Everything! Amazing experience! 10/10 The onsen is very old, but that's part of the charm in this historic place.
- Allenspach (9/5): Superb - A bit outside the city center but very calm. Amazing food and very nice people.
- Johanna (10/5): Beautifully peaceful and relaxing - It was authentic, the hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, the food was delicious. Nothing
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful grounds/garden and right on the river. The hosts were exceptional and good delicious!
- Andrew (10/5): Beautiful ryokan experience - Absolutely superb ryokan, in a trully beautiful setting. The staff were amazing, the food delicious and the private bath perfect. Worth every penny.
- Barbara (8/5): Nice tea house for a traditional experience. - Very nice traditional tea house ambience, with the background noise of the river, and bucolic set-up. Really good, traditional dinner. The breakfast was very similar to the dinner, with soup and tea at the same time, at 8 am. The location is quite far from most Kyoto attractions.
- Lin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mei (10/5): Wonderful stay - Everything was amazing. The food, service, view with the sound of the river and it was so peaceful and comfortable. The private bath was a lovely touch. I enjoyed the sauna too It was far from the centre but I think this is part of the charm of being next to nature
- Marc (6/5): Good but did not meet expectations, also very expensive for the actual accomodation type. It’s a guest house not a ryoka - Location by the river is beautiful Place is a little run down, old.
- Jocelyn (10/5): I lived my fairytale ryokan dream all thanks to Heihachi Teahouse Inn. - It’s a beautiful little inn with a lush garden next to the flowing river creating an excellent ambience What’s not to like?
- Kainoa (9/5): Superb - River side rooms are very pleasant. We stayed during a typhoon and still got a good night's sleep without any issue. The bathing facilities are a little dated so if you're into modern onsen, then it may not be for you (my partner, female, wasn't a fan of the facility but I, male, didn't mind the old school bathing vibe). Dinner and breakfast offered a great selection of different dishes following typical kaiseki style dining. Gardens within set a lovely atmosphere. Staff are very accommodating. Not all (or any at least based on who we interacted with) speak fluent english but were incredibly accommodating, resorting to translations via google where possible. Overall enjoyed our time and experience here.
- Raheem (10/5): - This is the perfect place for an authentic Japanese experience. The staff are wonderful and the meals are superb. Tranquil surroundings with a 5 star multi-course meals each day for breakfast and dinner. The sauna and hot baths were great for winding down after a day of touring. Touring was easy because bus lines and train lines are nearby.
We were sorry to leave the Tea House and really hope to return some day.
- Sally-anne (10/5): Wonderful traditional hospitality where everything was done with such care. - Everything worked together to create a very special experience. The bath and sauna, dinner, breakfast, the beautiful outlook onto the river where we saw a deer. It has been in the same family for 22 Generations and i would say over that time they have perfected a very genuine and involving guest experience of a Traditional way of hospitality.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bastanti (10/5): Perfect gataway bye the river - We loved everything.
The place, by the river, the room, the view, the garden, the baths, the exquisite food and the adorable team.
Everything is made to let you have the best time of your life, stress free, peacefull.
Thanks a thousand time.
- Bevan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eddrick (9/5): Superb - great traditional ryokan, room was cozy and the Kaiseki was great, also the service was amazing as well a little out the way and pricey
- Stefan (1/5): Horrible experience, dont do it! - The hotel disappointed us on almost every level. The personnel was very rude, intrusive and didnt accomodate to any of our wishes or guide us through the processes of our stay adequately. The Keisekan dinner was an interesting experience, but ultimately didnt live up to our expectations and made us feel sick afterwards. We feel ashamed to have spend that much money on such a bad experience and created us more distress than comfort.
- Camille (10/5): beautiful, good food, comfortable and relaxing - absolutely beautiful location. staff was very friendly
- Raymond (10/5): A serene and relaxing stay at a beautiful Ryokan. - Beautiful grounds and location, excellent food and staff.
- Shinchuen (10/5): a wonderful experience. will stay again for sure. - Although the location is a bit far from downtown Kyoto, but it’s a very beautiful traditional Japanese hotel.
With its 450 years history, this hotel has accommodated countless celebrities including some most famous Japanese writers, and our stay was an unforgettable experience..
A river view is just there, from the window of our room, we could hear the relaxing sound of water. room is well equipped and comfortable.
We booked for 1 night with dinner and breakfast. dinner was Kaiseki course featuring seasonal vegetables and tile fish, which is Heihachi’s expertise. every dish was visually delightful and amazingly delicious. Breakfast was Japanese set as well.
like most of old hotels in Japan, they have Japanese style bath, and there’s a special sauna space like an igloo, with straw mat inside. the bath time is quite luxurious.
we took breakfast after bath, in the room with a riverside view, listening to the sound of river and birds in the tranquil spring morning. we certainly recommend you to spend several nights here. nothing.
- Avishai (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts and staff were amazing and gracious
The authentic japanese dinner was great
Private sauna and jacuzzi
The sound of water from the river next by is relaxing Futon beds aren't my cup of tea, but I knew that going in, so can't blame anyone but myself :)
- Anneke (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adriana (10/5): A must to experience Japanese traditions and zen. - We loved the cultural experience, the staff was so friendly, and loved the room and spa. Our favorite part was the 10 course private dinner. Nothing, it was great.
- Matthew (10/5): Highly reccomend, I wish we stayed longer - The staff, food, accommodation and surroundings were impeccable Nothing
- Charlene (10/5): A beautiful and relaxing ryokan, that provides exceptional service to the guests. - Enchanting, wonderful, beyond expectations, Heihachi Tea House Inn was everything I had hoped for when staying in a traditional Japanese Ryokan and more. Let’s start with getting to Heihachi. It was an easy bus ride from the Kyoto station which literally stops in front of the inn. As we walked into the inn, we were approached by one of the staff who immediately helped us with our bags, took us to our room, and we were given tea and mochi while they checked us in. The inn itself is beautiful and absolutely meticulously cared for, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The onsen was a delight, and my husband and I felt rejuvenated in the sauna. Dinner and breakfast were thrilling experiences with tasty food, and a different menu each meal which we appreciated. The entire staff at Heihachi were kind, welcoming, and friendly. It was truly a fantastic experience, and if I ever come back to Kyoto I will 100% stay in Heihachi Tea House and Inn again. If you have the opportunity to book this place-DO IT!!!
- Saira-christine (10/5): A fabulous experience from a cultural, culinary and human point of you. We felt the perfection due to a tradition of a c - The staff, the food, the luxurious garden, the onsen, the room. The yukata and the beautiful and warm „over-yukata“ (haori?)!
- Christophe (10/5): Exceptional - Nothing much to say, but just perfect!!!
Amazing food, amazing garden, amazing view (red maple leaf), very cool bath with sauna, people were really nice and welcoming. We felt at home. We were so well there we would have like to have extended check-in/check-out time.
- Yiqun (10/5): Stunning courtyard, attentive staff, and a wonderful stay - The property is well maintained and the courtyard is stunning. We loved the view of the river and fall foliage and the sense of history. The staff is very attentive and helpful.
- Brana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roos (10/5): Amazing authentic Ryokan with friendly staff - The staff was really friendly and helpful. They carried our heavy luggage all the way to the room. The food was really good, the bath and sauna were very comfortable.
- Laura (8/5): Great Ryokan - We had a lovely stay at the Heihachi Tea House Inn. We only stayed for one night, but the service was excellent. They were so welcoming to us! The booking including breakfast and dinner, although that was not made clear by hotels.com. We had a delicious traditional Japanese meal in a private room. The Inn is a bit out of the way, so I would recommend going and really enjoying the Inn itself. We would stay again!
- Cathy (10/5): - Beautiful place and excellent service. Would definitely stay here again in a heart beat.
