We weren't the usual clientele for this place and I felt like the host treated us as second class at breakfast. We weren't really spoken to at the breakfast table, while host was continuously checking on other guests and getting them everything they neeed. Our breakfast order was muddled, my partner ordered tea and toast both mornings which never arrived, (even after asking), while tea and toast was fetched for the other guests. Felt like as we were young, we were overlooked. The housekeeper also clicked his fingers at me to get my attention, which I don't love. In general although we liked the place, we felt we were treated as less important guests, we both separately came to this conclusion and admitted it to each other.

• francois (10/5): I keep fond memories of my stays at Leighwood Lodge! - I was delighted to return to Leighwood Lodge for many reasons: the rooms are very comfortable, I always feel welcome by the owner and the staff, it is also extremely well located 10 mins from Sandton City, 5 mins from Hyde Park, Dunkeld Center, and 4th Avenue in Parkhurst. I would not stay anywhere else.

• Angelika (10/5): Wir waren fasziniert von der Herzlichkeit, mit der wir aufgenommen bzw. angenommen wurden! - Wir wurden so freundlich empfangen! Da es schon fast dunkel wurde und wir nicht so hungrig waren, wurde uns ein Imbiss gereicht. Auch der Wein fehlte nicht. Am nächsten Tag wurde angeboten, für uns am Abend zu kochen. So konnten wir tagsüber ganz entspannt unterwegs sein. Wir brauchten uns um nichts bezüglich einer Reservierung zu kümmern.

• Soum (8/5): Great lodge but rooms need an upgrade. - Great location, very cheerful and helpful staff and beautiful garden. The breakfast was prepared as per individual taste and served in the grand dining room of the main building. The rooms and bathroom were big and airy. The decor is a bit tired and appliances need an upgrade. One of the refrigerators was very noisy and the door on another one didn't close properly. The AC and wifi didn't work because of a lightning hit recently. It didn't bother us much but we would've appreciated a heads up.

The incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming staff always make you feel right at home. The beautiful, peaceful, well kept gardens provide a calm space for you to rest, relax and unwind. The breakfast is out of this world. The cozy bed and luxurious feeling linen make for a fabulous night's sleep. Just love our stays here and have already booked our third stay 🥰 Nothing bad to report 😉

Leigh is a born host—so very helpful and accommodating. She even made us a dinner reservation, dropped us off there and insisted on picking us up after dinner. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. Would stay there again no question and will certainly recommend to anyone traveling to Johannesburg. Nothing negative to report!

Leigh and her staff were exceptionally hospitable - they were incredibly kind & happy to help with anything, going above & beyond to make us feel comfortable & welcome. Communication was excellent. The rooms & bathrooms were large, comfortable & filled with lots of very thoughtful touches. The garden & pool was beautiful & there were comfortable sitting areas which were particularly helpful as we had a late evening flight on our departure day. Location may be a little too suburban for some.

• Katherine (10/5): Charming, quiet and comfortable oasis - Leighwood Lodge has oodles of charm from the roses to the china tea cups and antiques… and the tranquil surrounds make it a very relaxing place to stay. The rooms are big with all the facilities you’d expect eg hair dryer and tea and coffee & a very reasonable mini bar. The en suite is large with an option of shower or bath. Very little. It would have been nice to have Netflix on the tv.

• Davide (9/5): Spacious Retreat with a Warm, Welcoming Feel - There was a lot to like: the room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and ready to answer any question. The garden was big and full of trees. It was a lovely space to just sit and relax, and also to bird-watch. The breakfast was delicious, and served right on time. The location is on a leafy street, with several restaurant options nearby as well as closely located to the Zone@Rosebank, with more restaurants and the start-off point for the Hop On Hop Off bus, which was a relaxing way to cover a lot of Johannesburg. We'd gladly come back to Leighwood Lodge. We liked everything.

• Van (9/5): Lovely business stay with a personal touch. - Wonderful experience! I had a number of requests in terms of our stay and Leighwood exceeded them. The lodge is beautiful, rooms very clean, staff friendly and available to help. Perhaps an overflow parking area when its busy.
• Georgina (10/5): Exceptional - The minute we arrived we were welcomed by Vee who took our bags and showed us around. The guest house has a stunning garden with a beautiful pool. Leigh also welcomed us with a much needed g&t after the 7 hour journey back from Kruger! Our room was spacious and had tea, coffee, drinks and snacks. The staff really make this place. They really care about you having the best stay possible. Thank you so much Leigh and Vee!
• Susan (10/5): Great property within a beautiful garden with pool - Beautiful property with a lovely garden and pool. Our room was super, great size with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. Appreciated the fresh ground coffee and cafetière. Located close to many good restaurants and easy drive from the airport. Best part was the wonderful hospitality of Leigh, Tug, Sheila,Vee and of course the other staff who made our stay so enjoyable. We will definitely be back and thank you all.

• Sharon (10/5): A lovely welcome on my first trip to Africa - I did not partake of the meals offered during my stay. I am not much of a breakfast eater and the rusks and coffee provided in the room were enough for me. Every member of the staff that I encountered was so friendly and helpful. The room was warm, inviting and so comfortable. It included a free glass of sherry, which was such a wonderful and unexpected surprise! The grounds are just gorgeous and a wonderful place to sit in the sun to enjoy coffee or tea, or a glass of wine at sunset. It was a lovely walk to 4th Avenue, and just long enough. It was a great stay in a nice quiet neighborhood. I know that there must be things to improve upon, there always are, and maybe if I had stayed more nights I could have found them. However, in my 2-night stay, there was not one thing I would suggest they do differently.

• Kamala (10/5): Absolutely enjoyed Leigh's attention to my needs. Didn't like that I cannot walk around. - Host Leigh is amazing. SHe was wonderful, attentive to all my needs, and went beyond what was needed to suggest places to see, prepare meals and everything. The stuff was great too. Jessie helped a lot with carrying my luggage and helping in other ways. It's not just Leighwood Lodge but in general in Jo'burg, it's not suggested to walk by yourself in many places. Leighwood Lodge looked like is in a residential area and if you want to access the downtown or CBD or any place of interest, or even to go to a restaurant, you need to take an Uber.
