Guest Reviews
- Ann (10/5): very quiet location, intelligently designed cabin with the essentials provided, wildlife abundant - The interaction with the wildlife- the quoll on the verandah was so special!
The design of the cabin, especially the floor to ceiling, wall to wall glass looking into the trees and up to the peaks, was exceptional.
- Ruth (9/5): I would go back any time I was needing accommodation in the area. - The cabin was very clean and comfortable and well equipped. the outside light could not be turned off.
- KathyPetrie (10/5): Lucky to find this place so close to our Orienteering Event - Full size kitchen with oven and fridge.
Aircon and bathroom heating .
Lovely peaceful outlook.
- Shannon (10/5): Awesome! - A super comfy cabin in a beautiful environment! Absolutely loved it! Saw quolls and wombats, a very special place. Nothing
- Gary (9/5): -
- Brendan (9/5): A peaceful and tranquil piece of country allowing for a relaxing stay. - It was suggested that we bring supplies with us as the closest town was about 25 kms away. This allowed us to determine what we wanted to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner in a well catered kitchen.
The walking tracks were very good and easy to navigate. Its not what we didn't like but more of an observation (possible recommendation/consideration). A bench or 2 around the dam and along the creek so you can sit patiently and watch the native animals coming into the camp site on dusk.
- Pam (9/5): Escape - Location, wildlife, walking tracks
- Daniel (9/5): Getaway from stress - Very well equipped and comfortable cabins in the middle of wilderness. Very clean. Plenty of walks and wildlife. Hard pillows
- Julia (10/5): -
- Loneragan (9/5): Fantastic landscapes of Craggy Peaks - Beautiful location close to many walks. Lovely grounds surrounded by forest and nature. Very comfortable cottage and facilities. Staff very helpful with use of laundry and permitting electric vehicle charging.
- Martine (9/5): -
- Gary (10/5): Comfort and wildlife galore. - We were delighted to be in these very comfortable and well appointed cabins. On one evening we saw 6 wombats. The managing staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi was possible from the office.
- Pam (9/5): -
- Peter (9/5): -
- Christiane (10/5): Perfect relaxing, pleasant and very comfortable. - Godd kitchenette, all very clean and good taste. Bed ok.
- Ken (10/5): -
- Astrid (10/5): - Beautiful stay at Craggy Peaks with great wildlife (wombats, wallabies, quoll). The cabin is as new, with a big kitchen and bathroom. Everything was very clean. We got some recommendations for walks and loved exploring the area. No wifi in the cabin, but there was internet at the reception.
- JanaB73 (10/5): -
- CAROLYN (10/5): A great place to stay! - The cabins are as-new, with excellent appointments. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots and lots of native wildlife, and pleasant little sign-posted walks.
- Ruka (10/5): The best place to stay in Australia! -
- Perry (9/5): A beautiful location and extremely comfortable cabin. - Magnificent outlook. Beautiful cabin. Lots of little extras to make the room comfortable. Lots of animals around the site: piles of wallabies, laid back wombats, a platypus in the pond, and we saw in the distance a Tasmanian devil and the tail of a quoll. Extraordinary. It's a 25 minute drive to the nearest small township, and a very long drive to the coast.
- Jennifer (9/5): -
- Linda (9/5): - Beautiful location overlooking the craggy peaks of Ben Lomand. Comfortable and well appointed cabins all with views and a deck. Full kitchen and big bathroom.
Because of the time of the year and the wild winds and autumn rain, the park was really quiet which was lovely. It didn't stop the Wombats and Wallabies coming out though. Will definitely return.
- Ana Paula (10/5): Amamos, organizando a próxima viagem para nos hospedarmos somente aqui! Paz e tranquilidade! - Nós amamos tudo, conforto, limpeza, organização e estrutura.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful nature, wildlife at your doorstep. Serenity
- Leonie (10/5): Amazing spot in the middle of nature with wild animals all around - Location, view, immersiveness in nature and the personell. Can highly recommend staying here!
- hunter (10/5): - Wonderful stay - beautiful and very comfortable
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful bush setting, lots of wildlife and views of mountains. Comfortable bed with nice linen. Good cookware and oven/stovetop. Highly recommend.
- Brett (9/5): Overall we had a very enjoyable time. - Very clean and well appointed accommodation. Nice remote area with great views and walking options. We don't think the pet friendly works for an environment like this. We still got barked at by the dog in the neighbouring cabin when we were outside our cabin (the owner did shut it up quickly though). In another cabin opposite us, the dog would occasionally run around loose in the area and even ran up to our deck one morning. Having seen a wombat walk past earlier, we were concerned for its safety. Bottom line is, we are surrounded by barking or annoying dogs where we live in Hobart and its a shame to still have some of that when relaxing in the wilderness. We would consider avoiding pet friendly places in the future. Yes, i know any dog owners reading this will now hate me.
- K (7/5): Not bad - Full kitchen No signal
- Darran (10/5): Great location and quality accommodation -
- John (10/5): - Great value, unique location. The hikes near the property are top notch. Accommodation on an old golf club, well presented and maintained.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Kristijo (9/5): Peaceful retreat to recharge and rewind. - This was the perfect spot to unplug!!! Waking up to that wall of glass with the view of the mountain was spectacular Having to boil water was a bit of a hassle, but the fact that we didn’t have to buy bottled and create all that extra waste was great. The location is definitely for those who just want a peaceful retreat, it is not very conducive to exploring the area by car as it is way off the beaten path. But it is still better than listening to traffic and town noise.
- Julie (8/5): Quiet weekend away. Just what the doctor ordered - Quietness Armchairs not the most comfortable
- Debra (10/5): - What a find!! Stayed 2 nights, so peaceful, comfortable, spacious & great walking tracks. My husband said he was looking for something to complain about but couldn’t find anything. Highly recommend 😊
- Yi-chi (10/5): A peaceful and cozy cabin with an amazing forest view. We felt very relaxed and had a good rest. - We love to lie on the bed and watch the forest view. It's so peaceful. 10/10 for the view.
Kitchen was clean and equipped with enough kitchen utensils, pan, pots and even a French press for coffee lovers.
The bonus: I saw a wombat near the golf course every sunset throughout my stay and lots of wallabies near the cabins. Having more storage/ platforms near in the bathroom basin, and a dish dryer hack would be nice.
No Wifi provided by the hotel. Telecom signal is working for Telstra but not Optus for us.
One of us was bitten by a leech (which was not the fault of the hotel); just to be more careful if you are walking in the grass when looking for wombats, especially when it was raining/ wet.
- Amber (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful stay NA
- Susan (10/5): Really enjoyed the 2 nights wish it was more Meg was lovely - The peace and quiet, Meg was lovely the bed was comfortable will be back Nothing
- Shane (8/5): Very good -
- Marian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucas (9/5): Superb -
- Don Heli (10/5): - Great place. Located in the middle of the National Park. Cabins are like brand new.
Lots of quolls to see. One of the best places I have stayed.
- Allyson (8/5): Very good - The peace and quiet, the consideration for wildlife, and the views Could do with more comfortable easy chairs to relax in.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dorothy (9/5): We had a problem with transport but the staff werefantastic and were going to give us a free ride into Fingal. We had t - Excellent views, lovely area Well its isolation from provisions but that was also its advantage
- Jazmin (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was lovely, it was comfortable, clean and quiet.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hans-christian (10/5): Exceptional - Absolut fantastic and great Wildlife around
- Richard (9/5): Well worth deviating off the main road for a stay in this quiet oasis with stunning views and fauna. - What a hidden gem. We had a delightful 6 day stay in a studio cabin with our pet. The onsite managers, Meg and Greg, were very welcoming and kept the rooms, facilities and grounds in tip/top condition. The New Years Eve get-together they hosted for the guests was a nice touch. This is a perfect place for walking amongst native fauna on the old golf course, or doing some longer bush walks up into the hills. The cabin is very well maintained and has pretty much everything you need to be self contained for a few days. Not to mention the stunning views of Craggy Peak poking through the gum trees from our own private deck. Our studio did not have a sofa, however there are various types of chairs to sit on. The kitchen has enough crookery for maybe one sitting, so you will be doing fairly frequent washing up on longer stays.
- Bastian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lawrence (10/5): - The cabins are modern, clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed to blend sympathetically into the landscape. The location is tranquil and free of distractions, a great place to connect with the environment. Upon arrival, you will find information on bushwalks of varying duration in your cabin. We will certainly visit again, hopefully for a longer stay. Highly recommended.
Communication from the team was friendly and helpful
- Anita (10/5): Beautiful place would definitely recommend - The location and peace and quiet. Lovely walking trails around the accommodation. The wildlife was a bonus. The staff were lovely Na

- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - The nature and peace and quiet There was no reception
- Leon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bronwyn (10/5): Wish I had stayed longer. - Great views, walks, trees, mountains, wild life, dog friendly.
- Pete (8/5): Modern, minimalist, comfortable in a very scenic location. - Great heater, comfortable bed and hot shower. No holders in shower so everything goes on the floor.
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - Fabulous views Nothing
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Maren (10/5): We had a lovely stay at Craggy Peaks. It was the perfect little getaway, situated in a beautiful peaceful area. Make sur - Craggy Peaks is located in such a nice peaceful setting. We loved that we could bring our dog with us and we loved watching the wildlife from the balcony and walking around the property and surrounding bush land.
- Kerrilie (9/5): Superb -
- King (10/5): Exceptional - The peace and serenity, very quiet and relaxing, being able to sit on your balcony with an amazing view of the mountains watching all the wildlife in there natural habitats eg. Wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, birds etc.
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful surrounds. Lovely accommodation
- Judith (8/5): We enjoyed our stay as a couple but this 2 bedroom unit would not have worked for us if we had been a 2 couple party - Comfy bed, nice hot shower Uncomfortable couch and not suitable for 4 people, no heating in bedrooms, no where in bathroom to put bathroom bag, no luggage racks in bedrooms
- Sarah (10/5): - Very relaxed and clean and quite
- Michael (10/5): - This is a great spot for a back to nature relax. Great cooking facilities in the accommodation kitchen and a communal outdoor bbq and fire pit.
Possums and quolls on the deck at night. Lots of wallabies and evidence of wombats.
Dog friendly, keep on a lead.
A huge surrounding property to explore and play in nature.
Pack all your food needed as the shops are a bit of a drive away.
Pack waterproof shoes as there are limited formed pathways.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent across all areas of hospitality.
- Julie (10/5): W - Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Nil
- Anne (10/5): - This is a lovely property - blends in beautifully with the surroundings. You feel you are part of nature and can enjoy close up encounters with local wildlife. We were fortunate to meet the caretakers who took time to introduce us to the area and how to get the best out of the stay. The cabin has everything you need for a great stay. The view and surrounding are magical.
- Michael (7/5): Peaceful comfortable location - Dishes needed to cook in microwave. Tin opener broke.
- Margo (8/5): Loved the setting and the peacefulness. -
- Andrew (10/5): - Wanted somewhere quiet and comfortable for a few nights. Idyllic surroundngs, could not be more peaceful. Cabins are modern and well equipped, surrounding countryside is spectacular. I just wish I could have stayed longer.
- Hewa (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location very clean property, excellent staff
We will go there again
- Rpaulx (9/5): Superb - The location is marvellous. It is so quite and you are surrounded by the pure nature. The cabin has this wonderful glassfront, it was very bright inside ... and almost nobody can look inside. The patio has sun in the evening and you really can enjoy the sunset. People are very frienly and always willing to help. You have to drive in between some kilometers on a gravel road to get there. Although the rental car company permits these kind of roads, stay at the very side, when a truck comes towards you (stone chipping)
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place, very peaceful, very quiet. Wildlife coming right up to the huts. Staff super friendly
- Mark (10/5): Wish we had booked for longer. - The location is stunning. Its on an old disused golf course. The cabins are built overlooking an old fairway with craggy peak mountains overlooking and loads of wild life. The accommodation was much better than the photographs portrayed. I particularly like the large windows giving great views. It is very isolated but that's what we wanted. Very friendly hosts. The wifi was not great, unless you stood by the reception, but I had a good phone signal nearly the whole time so it wasn't a big problem for me. We were told the wifi was not good at the time of booking so it was expected.
- Beatrice (9/5): Remote - Wildlife and helpful people Na
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Avantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsten (9/5): Superb -
- Calogero (10/5): We would come back - Very helpful staff , great contact to wilderness
- Manuela (8/5): Very good - Amazing location and fantastic cabins. The staff were lovely and did what they could for us to enjoy our stay. The selection of board games was a bonus! Would definitely come back! Unfortunately one side of the queen bed we slept on had a big dip in it and I felt like I was going to roll out of bed. Had to live to one of the kid’s singles
- Neil (10/5): No issues at all. Very clean, comfortable and the family really enjoyed the stay. - Really fantastic location to relax surrounded by nature. Excellent views and very comfortable accommodation.
- Izabela (10/5): Amazing! - Views and area is so beautiful. It was so calm, perfect getaway from the city and so much wildlife can be spotted! Amenities and houses have all what you need, well maintained, simple but practical. Love it! Dryer was out of order. There is a space to hang clothes but we were in risk that it won’t dry out on time because it was raining.
- Jaimi-leigh (10/5): Had a wonderful time, the place is a true credit to the owners - The location, the apartment, the staff Nothing as such, maybe some more bbq facilities for those who don’t want to cook in the apartments
- Benjamin (8/5): Remote, scenic location surrounded by wildlife and attended by helpful staff. - Great views. Lots of wildlife. Beautiful sunsets. Well equipped kitchen. Areas to walk. Oven didn’t cook well. No drinkable water available (without boiling). Locks were a bit shoddy. Knives were blunt and flimsy.
- Jacinta (9/5): Cosy and relaxing stay away from technology - The accommodation was cosy yet modern and very clean. High quality essentials were supplied. The location of the accommodation is a little bit of a detour from what we had planned in our itinerary.
- Noel (10/5): Great environment the restore one belief in the need of an unfussed holiday. - The location is spectacular, with rugged backdrops and excellent accomodation.
Other guests were friendly and staff helpful and enthusiastic.
Wildlife was abundant but none intruded into the unit.
The photo attached is one of more than a dozen taken over 10 minutes at about 1:50 on Christmas morning 2023.
It shows the start of the eclipse of the moon behind the “pyramid craggy peak” and it’s transit down the western face of that feature, a most wonderful unexpected surprise of our visit. Very little. I asked the females of the group what more was needed and eventually acknowleged that a spatula and a bottle opener would have been handy. No male had any suggestions.
- Marriott (9/5): Absolutely loved it, it was so relaxing! - The Bush surroundings scenery and nature, being away from noisy city life. The nature and wildlife. Being able to bring our family dog. The distance to shops
- Colin (10/5): Can't wait to get back, looking to do a hike up Stacks Bluff soon. - We absolutely love craggy and have been a few times now. Beautiful surroundings, stunning views up over the 'bluffs' with lots of wildlife in the foregrounds. Great to see the creek walk open again as we love it! See you soon guys and will post some pictures on your facebook page (took a great one with a half moon setting over sphinx bluff). Only thing we don't like is not being there long enough!!
- Paul (10/5): - Unexpectedly great accommodation, almost luxurious cabins with a light, open design. One of the quietest nights I've ever had. Area is super peaceful and true to nature. Hosts are personal and friendly. We could not have wished for anything more!
- Christy (9/5): Great place to go for a relaxing break. - Enjoyed being able to explore around the property. Was a nice quiet and scenic accommodation. Nothing, but as a suggestion a comfortable lounge chair would have been great.
- Freeman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - The location is so peaceful and beautiful. Debbie and Craig were super friendly and helpful. Craggy Peaks is my favourite holiday destination.
- Bruce (9/5): Tranquil, beautiful, comfortable and very relaxing - I'll be back with my partner next time! - The remote(ish) location, as advertised and expected, was just perfect - beautiful and quiet. These couple of nights in my longer trip were always going to be my "bush" nights, and that's exactly what I got (and more!). I knew that I'd need to plan and bring plenty of groceries with me (thanks to the excellent information provided in advance), so that was all good. All the staff I met were super-friendly and helpful too. The only (very) minor "issuette" was the lack of good internet connectivity. Again, the property manage expectations well, and I made sure I brought what I needed (a pre-pay Telstra mobile hotspot), but I think that only worked as well as it did because I was there out of season (so the Telstra tower had plenty of spare "juice", with fewer people using it). In peak season, even Telstra speeds might struggle, if loads of people try to stream. In this day and age of NBN, or other options like a Starlink connection, it should be easy enough to setup Wi-Fi repeaters throughout the whole property with decent speeds.
Again, this wasn't a big deal for me (as the whole point of these couple of nights was to "go bush", after all), but it might broaden the appeal to others, esp. families, if they know that they have the option to stream things in the evenings, esp. on days when the weather might be keeping people indoors.
- E.j. (10/5): Such an unforgettable place - We loved everything about Craggy Peaks! From the moment we arrived ( Deb & Craig made sure the cabin was warm and toasty and left a small light on as we checked in after hours ) till the time we checked out (sadly) we loved every minute spent there. The solitude and peace was exactly what we needed as we spend hours staring at the screen everyday. It’s a case of disconnect to connect. There was almost zero internet connectivity but that’s ok cos that’s exactly what we wanted. Bring a book!
The cabin is lovely. It has a kitchen so well equipped it has everything you need to whip up meals. There’s complementary hot chocolate and marshmallows too(yummm!) Don’t even get me started on the shower. Best shower in my 10 day tour of Tassie! We highly recommend an experience at Craggy Peaks and wish to be back some day. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!
