Guest Reviews
- Dawn (1/5): Beware, dishonest management terrible communicators think twice before you waste your money here. -
- Rebekah (7/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): We stayed here while visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder attractions in De Smet. - I asked for extra pillows which were provided without hesitation. The faucet was difficult for my daughter to turn on and it wouldn’t turn off all the way.
- Don (9/5): - Not much available
- Janell (6/5): - Location was convenient The heater was loud, bed was uncomfortable- not enough pillows and blankets. Limit number of towels in bathroom
- mary (9/5): -
- Brigitte (7/5): - Ist für einen kurzen Aufenthalt okay Das Frühstück sehr spartanisch
- Jose (10/5): - For sleep is awsome
- Errol (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- Henry (7/5): - Clean Tub drain slow. Sheets were clean but worn.
- mike (2/5): - We didn’t get to stay there when we got there. They said there was no reservation. We had to spend $50 more and drive an extra hour at midnight just to get in motel. Expedia did a terrible job.
- Charles (7/5): Good basic room, quit and clean - Owner manager very friendly Breakfast was very basic cereal and toast, tv didn’t work very well ice maker broken
- Benjamin (10/5): - Cheap and clean. Nice room and owner. Highly suggest.
- Robert (6/5): - This is just a place to sleep. The lobby smells bad and the breakfast is Sunny D and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I'm not kidding. PB&J for breakfast. The ice machine doesn't work and there's no elevator. But it was quiet and the bed was good.
- Becky (4/5): - Run down. Old warn sheets and bedspread. Very loud A/C. No cups in room for water. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Only cereal and toast for breakfast.
- Orrin (8/5): - Nice & clean, quiet.
- Karen (8/5): - It’s nothing fancy, but the room was comfortable. The main issue I had was that two of the three main lights in the room did not work, but the owners resolved it by moving me to a different room, so that was good. There also were no stoppers for the drains in either the bathtub or the sink. Breakfast was simple, but good. I liked that they were flexible on the timing.
- Dale (2/5): - Worst hotel I have stayed in. Smelled like curry and other spices. Didn’t update towels or toiletries at all. Very dirty.
- James (6/5): Convenient by not great - About the only place in town to stay. Owners are not very friendly and you have to ring the bell to get front desk attention. We had to routinely ask for fresh towels. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, toast and cereal. When we decided to check out a day early, we were not refunded a nights stay or given a credit voucher.
- Amy (8/5): Comfortable, but not my favorite stop. - It was a good price for the area we needed to be, and the room was comfortable. The host made sure we had all we needed. The breakfast was either cereal or toast. No protein of any kind. No hot water for tea.
Towels were just a bit thin. Only one food option within twenty minutes for dinner.
- Dean (8/5): - inexpensive and clean but breakfast was just milk and sunny d and coffee with raisin bran for cereal
- Barbara (8/5): - It was good stay. Hotel could use some remodeling. The couple who ran it was nice. Beds were comfy.
- Matthew (2/5): - It looks like the owner gave up. Very rundown.
- Susan (6/5): Adequate - Clean. Comfortable beds Few amenities. No cups, Kleenex
- Brenda (2/5): - This property had bed bugs and we did not stay.
- Tangen (8/5): Very good - The room was clean, you don't hear noise from other rooms or outside, the temperature was easy to control in the room, the shower was hot and there is a bar/restaurant next door that was nice as well. It was just what we needed to stay for the night and continue on to our final destination of our trip.
- Zane (7/5): Good -
- Michael (6/5): - Staff was pleasant but the property is in serious need of investment and care. This property is overpriced for the state of the amenities. Our room had one of the worst paint jobs I've seen, a sink that barely drained, lights that didn't work, and carpet in serious need of replacement.
On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and clean.
- Ryan (8/5): - Well-kept property with friendly staff. Very helpful.
- Lounsbery (7/5): Good - Breakfast below average
- Jo Leen (10/5): - It worked but it could have been cleaner but it being an older motel it is what it is.
- Terry (8/5): - Property was adequate for our needs
- Chris (8/5): - Ok for fishing
- Kristi (8/5): - Its was nice just to relax from driving allday.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Breakfast could be better
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It worked. Clean. Nothing fancy. You get what you pay for.
- Jayson (10/5): - Will stay here again
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don’t waste your time or money - There was no front desk staff when I went to check in. There was a phone number to call and someone on the other end told me to take a room key of my choice from a basket at the end of the counter. Seriously? Three hours later the front desk staff asked me to come to the desk to register. I was very uncomfortable as the door did not have an extra lock, only the actual door lock. The room was freezing as the heat had not been turned on yet.
When I went to check out, there was also no staff at the desk. Wanted a receipt and was unable to get one.
The breakfast was a joke. A loaf of bread that anyone could put their hands in, a gallon of milk the was also a community gallon and a gallon of orange juice. One community jar of peanut butter and NOTHING else.
I would NEVER Stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I stayed at this hotel numerous times over a several month period and towards the end of my travel time the stays got worse. My last stay there I had bed bugs in my room. I tried to tell staff but they were unavailable and only had a phone number available to call them.
- Kim (6/5): Needs some work - Not very clean
Horribly noisy heater kicked on then off, every couple minutes… not exaggerating
- Dan (4/5): - Staff had very limited availability.
- Dan (6/5): - Staff had quite limited availability.
- Diane (4/5): - I am not a princess so don’t require a perfect, fancy hotel. I am satisfied if the hotel is clean, the bed is comfortable, and there is a decent breakfast.
- Lynch (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (5/5): Passable -
- Ericka (10/5): - Comfy beds!
- Lori (2/5): Very poor - Location The hotel room's fire alarm was hanging out of the ceiling, 1 light bulb out of 3 worked over the bathroom sink, a huge hole in the bathroom wall with a sheet of paper taped over it, mud on the shower curtain; it was a place to sleep but not a place to relax and feel comfortable.
- Ralph (6/5): - OK place to stay.
- Simeon (10/5): - A place to sleep
- Sade (8/5): - Pretty isolated but there is a restaurant next door
- Sandy (4/5): Bad experience - Location Room was dark, could not use lamps they were old and I was worried about starting a fire because they flickered. Room was dirty, bathroom and shower was also dirty, the whole room looked dingy and worn. Only three options for breakfast. Cold cereal, thawed out frozen waffles. Had to go find breakfast somewhere else. Not impressed at all.
- Kelly (7/5): Good -
- Melberta (1/5): Do not rent here. They are not clean - Nothing. I came in. He didn't value my membership. Led about the room that was ready and checked me into the most horrible room. I would be credited back my money The room was full of strong fermented urine smell. The shower stall was full of body hair and pubic hair. Dirt, blackened things. Strong fermented urine smell in the shower curtain, in the shower floor. The bed had the strongest smell in the left side of the bed. It was so horrible, I now have a sinus infection due having to smell someone's stale fermented urine. He saw me and changed the room me I feel like he did that on purpose. That room shouldn't been blocked from renting. I traveled a long ways from home to work in line term care. At my expense. I only slept 3 hours from not being able to sleep from the smell! Never in my life have I gotten a room this was and I'm a gold member!
- Lindsay (10/5): - Nothing fancy, but it's clean, quite and the staff is helpful and friendly. Recommend.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean room, easy to park. Small gravel around parking lot sticks to shoes and you carry it in to the room. Limited local restaurants, limited items in continental breakfast, no local breakfast options!
- Deano (8/5): - Clean quite and comfortable
- noreen (6/5): - The tv didn't work
- Verlyn (8/5): - I think they should have grab bars in the showers. I was going to mention when I checked out, but did not see anyone.
The staff were very nice even though we did not arrive until 1230am. Room were very clean and we slept well
- James R (10/5): - Tgevowners/frint desk was easy to work with
- Betty (8/5): - I liked that it was convenient to the highway. It was clean and quiet. If I am ever back in this area, I would more than likely stay here again.
- Jordan (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (6/5): - The owner was very friendly and approachable.
This is not a hotel where you would find a butler or uniformed staff. This is a hotel in a tiny town - perhaps the only hotel in this tiny town. The building shows wear and tear from years of use but everything looked safe and clean. I've stayed in better places for the same amount of money but I've also paid more for worse.
I did not dislike anything but neither did I find anything especially appealing.
- Ann (6/5): Pleasant - Beds were comfortable. Back door had garbage to get to the door and there was a pile of cans and beer bottles also.Glass doors were dirty.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Rober (7/5): Good - Real basic hotel. Clean. Staff was nice. Real basic breakfast nothing special.
- Hope (7/5): Wouldn’t stay again. - “Breakfast” was dry cereal and old coffee. Literally every thing could have been better. If it’s so lackluster, why not drop the price?
- Sheryl (3/5): Poor - Beds are okay Needs updated badly, no ice, no attendee at desk, had to dial a phone. Breakfast very continental and didn't seem clean.
- Renee (10/5): - Great place to stay!!
Loved it! Great service!
- Steve (6/5): - The staff was great and very friendly. The property is extremely dated, has 70s carpet and likely the same bed spread. The property is dirty, I told my wife not to even drink the coffee out of the breakfast area because of the condition. The entry into the building was extremely unpleasant. We will likely not ever stay there again.
- Jean (10/5): Helpful at check in. - I was caught in the road closures by Sioux City Iowa during the recent flooding and came in late at 1 am. The person checking me in was friendly and kind even though it was the middle of the night and I am sure they don't have many customers at that hour.
- Adriane (8/5): - It was not nice nor very clean. It clearly hadn’t been thoroughly vacuumed since the last guest.
It was convenient and relatively safe. A decent hotel in this area at this price point,
- Steve (5/5): Passable -
- Glenn (10/5): - Good value for people on a budget
- Glenn (10/5): - Clean room.
Friendly staff.
Very good value for the money.
Very nice budget hotel.
- Barbara (8/5): So So Stay - There was no soap in the shower dispenser. Breakfast left much to be desired. Cold pancakes. At least there was a microwave to heat them. Beds were comfortable, location was good for what we needed. Could use some updates
- Danny (2/5): Find Somewhere else to stay! - The beds were comfortable We were told we would have a crib for our infant even called and confirmed but when we arrived we were told they do not have cribs!
I had to completely clean the tub and shower before we could use them there was hair and dirt all the inside and the tub ledge.
Trash was under the bed.
Room just looked very unkept curtains had holes in them
Staff was rude and not helpful speaking with management was like talking to a brick wall
- Samantha (4/5): - The property needs updating. The smell of Indian food was super strong when we arrived, the breakfast was a loaf of bread, a half full jar of peanut butter, frozen pancakes made from a mix and put in a Rubbermaid! The sink and tub was super dingy, the chair in bedroom was old and crusty, need I go on?
- cindy (2/5): - no coffee pot in room. continental breakfast was stale cereal and the coffee pot where water went in to make coffee was very crudy. went to gas station for coffee and breakfast
- Chad (10/5): - Quality stay for a quality price
- Griffis (5/5): Passable -
- Jason R (8/5): - Not a bad place to stay if your up in the area for some fishing. Nice bar restaurant next door with great food.
- Tiffany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Yolanda (2/5): Didnt deliver at all - The clerk put me at the end of the building. I dont know why they think this is ok ro put si gle travel women at the end of the building especially since the hotel was freaking emptied. The door security bar was broken, not there at all. The sink stopper was broken so after i used it it didnt come up to drain the water so at 3 in the morning, the sink had been dripping then spilled over, floor was wet..it was a nightmare. I had to leave in a few hours for work so i didnt bother complaining. No coffee in the morning like i was told it would be.. just an absolute disappointment with this place.
- Bradley (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was very minimal
- Melissa (2/5): - Upon checking in, found bugs all over in the room. Fabric chairs covered in stains. Could smell old smoke in the rooms. Smoke detector didnt appear to be functional and was also yellow with smoke. Staff was not helpful. Was told a manager would call me, but never did. They also charged my card three times and had to dispute through my credit card. Did not stay and had to find other accommodations. Travelocity should include bugs in their insurance coverage.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check in lady was not very friendly. The bathroom was dirty. Website said free wifi but was not given a passcode to access it.
- Nancy (8/5): It was great for one night - Clean and great price 20 minutes beyond our Brookings destination
- Heidi (10/5): - Friendly front desk personnel.
Clean room and bathroom.
Appreciate breakfast starting at 5:30 am.
Quiet atmosphere.
- Jenny (7/5): Good -
- Diana (8/5): - Basically mediocre but the beds were comfortable and the shower had lots of water pressure so no complaints here.
- Donna (6/5): Dirty Pillows - The only thing that was unsatisfactory was the pillows. They were yellow stained.. had to go buy a couple of pillows. Lesson learned.. always bring your own pillows
- Lynn (4/5): - Attention to detail. We were a large group with several rooms. Some rooms didn't have towels, some didn't have TP some didn't have soap, etc. The light globe in the back entrance has at least 2 inches of dead bugs in it, fire hazard waiting to happen. I get you're not going to get a 4 or 5 star experience in Arlington, SD, but when you're paying the same rates as in Brookings, it should at least have basic supplies.
- Karen (8/5): - We enjoyed that it was nextdoor to 1481 Grille in Arlington, where we were able to walk over to eat! We had a comfortable weekend stay. It was not too far from DeSmet, which was our destination for Laura Ingalls Wilder historical sites.
- Ann (7/5): Good - Mattress was hard
- Jeffery (5/5): Passable - Location was where I wanted to be for the event I was attending Facilities are definitely ready for a refresh, towels are thin and should be replaced
- Loren (3/5): Disappointed - It in my hometown When you rent motel rooms they get cleaned daily. Beds should be made and new towels put in the Rooms. Here that doesn’t happen. Poor service.
- Virginia (6/5): Clean and economical, ok overnight stay on a road trip. - Beds were very comfortable. It seemed clean. Not much choice for breakfast. The paint job in our room must have been done by an amateur.
- Carol (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (4/5): Disappointing - I got frost floor The breakfast was a lot to be desired
