Guest Reviews
- Laura (10/5): - Some places feel like a dream you don’t want to wake up from — Coqui Coqui Papholchac Coba Residence & Spa is exactly that kind of surreal escape.
Set in the heart of a small village, this hotel feels like stepping into a refined, fragrant vision. Every detail is thoughtfully curated — the aesthetics are deeply sophisticated, almost poetic, as if each corner was designed to be felt, not just seen. There is a softness in the air, a signature scent that lingers, turning the entire stay into something sensory, almost cinematic.
The beauty of the space is undeniable, but what truly elevates the experience is everything that comes with it. The cocktails were, without exaggeration, the best we had in the entire Yucatán Peninsula. The food — exquisite, personal, full of flavor. And beyond that, the parfum experience adds another layer of uniqueness, making your stay not just visual, but deeply immersive.
This is a place for special moments — for couples, for honeymoons, for those rare occasions when you want to celebrate something meaningful or simply each other. It invites you to slow down, to feel more, to be present.
A special thank you to the administrator — a Mexican gentleman with a European appearance — who was not only incredibly kind, but also sharp, attentive, and quick to help us solve any questions we had. Truly memorable service.
This is not just a hotel — it’s an experience you’ll want to return to again and again. Nothing
Note incompréhensible et commentaires précédents également.
Une de mes pires nuits au Mexique…

- Lola (10/5): I have been to Coba several times and would definitely return to Coqui Coqui! - The resort structures are built from quarried limestone and intended to replicate ancient Maya buildings.
The room and balcony were spacious and attractive and the spa was really fun. I had my first facial (aloe & honey).
As a devout & longterm student of archaeology and the Modern Maya, this is a perfect location to visit the Coba Archaeological Site. The site is within easy walking distance.
Breakfasts were incredible.
All staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. The various pools were stunning particularly the one constructed from a cenote! Much thought has been given to the design of this property.
- Else (10/5): -
- Andres F (10/5): Magical! The best experience in Coba - What a magical place!
It is hard to pick, but I will start with the staff. Since the very beginning everyone was so kind and welcoming, Mathias the manager is doing a wonderful job! The area, the food, the drinks, the fireplace… it was a stay from another world! Please do not forget to enjoy the spa! I felt re born There’s nothing I disliked.
I was taken to heaven, I was reborn
- Else (10/5): -
- corinne (10/5): Très belle expérience - Tout était parfait
- Julien (10/5): - Super staff & place
- Merante (10/5): A scented journey in an oasis of beauty and comfort - It’s an amazing and original property, that is unlike any other. It feels like a temple, designed with vision, the pools are so gorgeous. The staff is wonderful, the rooms so beautiful and comfortable, with eye for detail. We love this place and return to it. The location is strangely enough also great: although away from Tulum or Valladolid, it’s located on the edge of a small village by a lake. It’s very relaxing. Nothing
- Filipe (9/5): - A forma como criaram um retiro no meio do nada entre ruínas é excelente.
- nathalie (9/5): très bel établissement - Le cadre exceptionnel ! Le prix du petit déjeuner
- Leo (10/5): - We spent one night in CC which is very close to Coba Maya temples. It is a special building with specially designed rooms, some with pools, all decorated very nicely, a beautiful restaurant and a spa which offers massages.
The building overlooks a lake and it very quite at night.
We started with rum tasting, followed by chocolate tasting and the we got introduced to the variety of essences, which we could also test on ourselves. Very nice cocktails, some unusual but great ones.
Dinner was delicious, the best mole we ever had and a nice mexican white wine. The home made chili oil and the icecream have to be mentioned.
Everything at Breakfast was very good, don’t miss out on the granola and different honeys.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The perfum we took away will make us remember the special place for some time.
- Balqis (8/5): - The property is gorgeous Maybe you could make aware the guests that the bathroom doesn’t have a door
- thierry (1/5): waste of money, completely overrated. -
- Ines (9/5): Superb -
- Dusan (10/5): One of my favourite places and will come back soon - The location is great if you are looking to just relax. The hotel is beautiful If I was going to comment on anything it would be the limited menu
- Karl (10/5): super - BEAUTIFUL !!
relaxed, chill , quiet location; not a lot to do in Coba besides visiting the Mayan Ruins.
But once you enter the 'hotel' you do not feel to go out;
just hang around and enjoy;
campfire at sunset !!!!
Matthias is so kind;
Monseratte speaks all languages;
we loved it!!! super staff !!!
- Mouhcine (10/5): A MUST - Just like a dream, everything was perfect
Something so magical with the place
Jared was so nice and helpful 🙏🏽
- Sharon (10/5): - Perfect --we walked to the Coba ruins early in the morning along the back road by the lake enjoying the magic. Perfect for two nights. Restful and special.
- Adam (10/5): - Beautiful property, somewhat otherworldly. Next to Coba Mayan archeological site which is more fascinating (though less excavated) than Chichen Itxa. Would recommend you stay if thinking of Yucatan road trip.
- Francois (10/5): Exceptional i will come back a third time 🙏🏽 - It is my second time and I always like this beautiful place ! Its unique by his location ! The diversity of birds is excellent espcially in the morning ! The SPA is exceptional … i am a fan of massage and this the best i ever had for such a long time ! Ask Irene and Alondra for the professional and superbe massage !! Thank you as well to the all staff that is just always there for you ! Best room ever is number 1 at the top of the main building I think that the breakfast is missing some variaty! I love the restaurant place and location ! Quality of the vegetarian food is excellente even if i am not vegetarian !
- Shannon (9/5): Superb -
- Danila (10/5): Another Coqui Coqui Oasis - Everything - from its location, the staff and premises. Plus the free gift of perfume. Breakfast, the cooked part could have been better but ok for me as I don’t do cooked breakfasts.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - The setting, the decoration and the staff are amazing!
- András (10/5): - Amazing property u feel
Like you have just arrived to a Movie!
- Etan (8/5): Beautiful but not pampering - It is a beautiful small hotel Service was missing
Not attentive
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacey (10/5): - Beyond !
U felt as thought you were living in a Mayan
Castle!
So lovely and Authentic
We couldn’t believe how amazing the design the exquisite architecture the individual details to every part of the COBA experience.
We swam in Mayan made pools
Ate delicious made meals
Laid in the sun in beautiful couches
Had an outside private living room.
The staff was attentive and caring.
Wd received beautiful perfumes and chocolates tgat were made on site.
Tasted homemade honey
And purchased two different kinds to bri g home
Coffe e honey and chocolate honey.
Sooooooo good.
We were completely blown away by the
Exceptional ambience and peace. Right on a lagoon
In the jungle
Birds everywhere. Coda ruins two minutes away.
The Cenotes were 8-10 minutes away. Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you!
- Dimitri (10/5): Masterpiece of architecture and design - Beautiful hotel at walking distance from the ruins, definitely worth seeing ! Nice attention to details, they made a fire for the sunset and the staff is really polite and quiet. They even recommend us which Cenote to visit and help us organise the transportation. Did not get a tour and explanation of the boutique which could have been nice!
- Anonymous (10/5): Perfumery was a hit and relaxed vibe. - Mayan architecture, and you get to pick your own scent. Coba is small so this is really a destination hotel.
- Victoria (10/5): the most beautiful part of Mexico that i have seen. - the property was stunning. quiet! we had the place to ourselves. every detail was picturesque. the staff, although they didn’t linger or annoy us, were extremely attentive and kind. everything was perfect.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Bliss - Everything!
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special for our honeymoon. We liked it so much we stayed a third night in a different room. They made the bed with rose petals and had champagne waiting. The toiletries and scents were divine. The whole thing is an experience! We hardly left period. Loved going to the restaurant each night as well, which was reasonably priced in my opinion.
Maybe I'm biased, but I think the whole place has a special energy to it. They Mayans didn't build a temple nearby for no reason. Nothing
- Maria (9/5): Simple Luxury, a nice atmosphere overall. - Overall style and design was elegant and great - it felt remote and adventurous but still luxurious. The aromas of the perfumes definitely add an extra layer to the experience. The main pool had a very original design and the service was excellent. We liked everything, if we had to give any critique it would be that the food was good but not amazing.
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Karolina (10/5): amazing place to relax - all the details are so beautifull! too little choice of food for me
- Claudia (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel is beautiful. The area was invaded by mosquitoes but the rooms didn't have mosquito netting around the beds nor spray for the guests. I forgot my glasses in my room, which was very dark, and the staff never really looked for them when I called to ask this. The pool looked much larger in the photos.
- Igor (10/5): - Its like been in a jungle fairy-tale. The food its insanely good. Cristal was so attentive all our stay and with Eliu they are the perfect team work.
The only thing its missed is body lotion and hand soap in the room.
We love Coqui Coqui experience!
- Stuart (9/5): Superb - Very helpful, friendly, and dedicated staff and service. Great location. Close to Coba Mayan ite. Nothing.
- Michael (10/5): - Gorgeous property. Close enough to walk to entrance of Coba ruins, go right at 8am to avoid all the tour buses! You’ll have the ruins all to yourself! The cenotes are a quick drive away as well. The spa was lovely, food was fantastic. The staff was very attentive, and excellent. I just wish there were bathrobes to go to the spa. Highly recommended!
- Yury (10/5): - Amazing service!
- George John Adam (10/5): - The staff, property, room and amenities are out of this world, the dinning at the on site restaurant was a culinary masterpiece. The wife is sure she received the best massage ever with the 2hr AloeVera spa treatment You can not go wrong if you choose to stay here.. A step above to say the least..
- Jason (5/5): Passable - The location on the lake was lovely, the aetheric was great. No separation of toilet and bedroom - no door, curtain, or anything! The toilet is directly in the room!!!! Why did they do this ?!
The staff are nice but very inexperienced. It's like the place was setup by someone who knew what they were doing but it's been left to interns to run.
The staff have very limited knowledge at hand of the key sites in the area or any practical information.
Transfers etc were very expensive through them. Ended up going else where.
- Janine (10/5): it was wonderful to be among ruins given a new life. -
- Peter (6/5): Great property needs better food options - Very cool set up. Gorgeous property. However, restaurant was only so-so, with not great service, and VERY VERY expensive. After our first meal there we ate exclusively off-property (and there are lots of greta options in Coba for about 1/10 of the price).
- Hannah (10/5): magical - the most beautiful property i have ever stayed in , the staff were so friendly and generous! the food was delicious and the service was incredible!! highly reccomend!!
- Willem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alejandro (10/5): Unique hotel, a little expensive but worth it!!! - Very unique place!!! Expensive but I understand why... I had a great time here... I felt like I stayed in a Mayan castle (or pyramid)... It was a very UNIQUE experience... Thank you for making it so... Oh I accidentally took the safe key when I checked out... They were very gracious and understanding... I was able to FedEX back to them in a couple of days..
- Mauricio (10/5): Thumbs up! - Great check in experience!
Great design
- Verified traveler (10/5): - TOP!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful little spot - Adorable little boutique hotel. As they are a perfumeria the first thing you do is select the scent you would like for your toiletry products, including a bug spray and bath oil. Service is unobtrusive, setting is beautiful, bed is comfy, room was delightfully laid out -- the little breakfast veranda was a nice touch.
- Scott (10/5): Wonderful! - Wonderful place!
- daniel (10/5): Tranquility - This is the perfect place if you’re in the need for quiet, reflective time. The staff is very friendly, service is top notch, and the spa is small, but wonderful massage therapists.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing stay - We enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing and the staff was helpful with our needs.
- matthew (10/5): Stay in this magic castle like hotel. - Coqui coqui is an absolutely magical hotel off the beaten path. It is tranquil and stunning. Take a couple nights to come out from tulum and recharge your batteries. It’s worth every moment soak in your tub and enjoy the pools. The amenities are amazing and the staff is very kind.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beautiful design and great views to the lagoon.
The bed cracks and the towel has holes.
The food was amazing with really interesting combinations and presentation.
This place is over rated!
Walking distance to the Coba Pyramid
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I think that Coqui Coqui is a refreshing change to the overly commercial mass tourism in Tulum. It’s a beautifully designed boutique hotel with stunning toiletries by the brand and very much a unique experience because of the architecture that truly does blend in with the surrounding Coba ruins. The staff were attentive and incredibly professional and made me feel very welcome. The food for lunch and dinner is a culinary treat in itself - if you are a foodie and are not afraid to try some local fusion/unique ingredients then this is the place for you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel design and rooms are a must see. Unique and comfortable. Restaurant space also very cool. Food was so so. Chef was trying to hard to be creative at the expense of taste and satisfaction. So much so that we avoided the free breakfast. Close to Tulum so I can see this as a getaway inland from there, would go back if food improves and if spa becomes a draw, as the overall space s very relaxing. A menu outlining spa services would be nice
- Fernando (8/5): - For the price. There was not real customer service, or either attentive staff to offer what to do around.
The food was really great :)
