Guest Reviews
- Joanne (6/5): Great location but wouldn’t return - Interior design was lovely. Location was fantastic - 5 min walk to centre. Staff were great Bathroom was exceptionally small, usb plugs didn’t work in the room. Both the black out blinds and normal blinds were broken and didn’t cover the whole window. Size of the room was very small, despite booking the deluxe room.
- Alison (10/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): - Everything. The staff members were so lovely, the Indian man was insanely polite, and made us feel very welcome. We werent aware of the complimentary prosecco, snacks, breakfast in bed and other extras so that was a lovely surprise. Nothing, everything was great.
- Arad (1/5): -
- Frank (7/5): small cozy hotel - cosy hotel, room and bathroom were small but had everything one needs the desk could be cleared from the stuff on there so one has some room to put a laptop on or the breakfast plate. There is no central room for the breakfast it is served in the room
- Patricia (6/5): Staff were lovely. Expensive - The staff were lovely and attentive . Small breakfast included which was good The black out blinds were insufficient and daylight came in and woke me at 4.45 am. No kettle in the room to make a hot drink .
- James (9/5): -
- Kahra (10/5): -
- Gemma (9/5): - Warm welcome on arrival. All members of staff were extremely thoughtful, welcoming, attentive. Room was lovely, great pillows and comfortable bed, great bathroom. Breakfast in bed, including fresh orange juice and lovely coffee. Very pleased I stayed at The Cow Hollow Hotel!
- Hsuehjen (7/5): -
- john (4/5): Only savior, a working fan. - Location. Rooms are too small, 2 persons would be impossible.
- Hilary (10/5): - Beautiful small boutique hotel. Very clean. Friendly staff. Nothing.
- Marlon (3/5): Horrible to the point I left even after I booked just wasted my money had do book a much cleaner space - Only the nice gestures like free prosecco, slippers and coffee e.t.c It was dirty and you aren’t told beforehand that you’ll be staying in an underground room with those windows people look at you from the pavement. So you really don’t get a view unless u wanna see peoples feet walk past..
Also there was left over poo residue in the toilet which is absolutely nasty and it was a foul smell upon arrival mixed with cleaning chemicals which helps insinuates that someone used the toilet and it wasn’t clean properly, which is weird cause they said no one used the room in a long time
- Paul (10/5): -
- Henry (8/5): great for couples wanting to be in the heart of the northern quarter - lovely staff, really warm welcome, good facilities, loved having breakfast delivered to the room and late night milk and cookies was a sweet touch room was quite small and underground
- Nichola (8/5): Unique hotel, well worth a visit, but be prepared to be warm if you’re in a basement room - The hotel is small, friendly, quirky, unique and really quite luxurious. Wonderful bed with big fluffy pillows and high quality linen. The milk and cookies before bed was an unexpected treat, as were the free tea and coffee facilities provided in the basement sitting area. Hairdryer, styling wand and straighteners provided in a Cow Hollow tote…. Lanvin toiletries and big white fluffy towels and…. free slippers and ear plugs to take home! Staff were friendly and helpful. - nothing too much. And breakfast in bed. - what a treat! The room was perfect for.a single traveller but would have been crowded with 2 and I didn’t like that I couldn’t open a window - the room got a bit stuffy but a fan was provided to cool it down somewhat. It was a little noisy during the evening with guests returning but that didn’t last for long.

- Jodie (10/5): Fabulous in every way! - Gorgeous hotel. Lots of attention to the small details. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made us feel very welcomed. The complimentary glass of Prosecco when we arrived was a nice touch. The room was beautifully decorated with a great shower and comfortable bed. Nothing. Loved it all.
- Sandra (10/5): Definitely stay there whenever we’re in manu - The amazing helpful staff particularly the helpful Asad who could not do enough to make our stay more comfortable
- Eva (9/5): Brilliant - I liked the location it was close to the centre, the staff were lovely and lots of complimentary stuff. Room is small but not an issue as it’s nice and intimate and worth the money.
- Phil (9/5): A lovely hotel with always-friendly and very pleasant staff. Very comfortable. -
- Daniel (7/5): Nice modern boutique hotel. - Really enjoyed the breakfast in bed. Beds were comfortable. Cool design and layout of the place. Rooms have simply too little space. Ok with small rooms but needed a bit more room than provided.
- Jessica (8/5): Great location , friendly staff and great hotel - Location was great , we were going to a concert and it was great for that and easy to get round Manchester , the breakfast in the morning was lovely and fact a lot of complimentary things throughout the day reallt appreciated it Enjoyed it all
- Susan (9/5): - Excellent service from all staff. Room was tight yet cozy. Very well decorated. Breakfast in bed was a wonderful touch The avocado on sourdough was spicy and it wasn't mentioned or displayed on the menu when we chose our breakfast upon check in. There also doesn't seem to be catering for allergies.
- Ryan (9/5): loved the style and intimate feel! - Staff - super attentive with coffees on my way in and out. Loved the cookies at night. Bed super comfy and plush Blinds in bedroom got stuck, could do with blinds in bathroom rather than just shutters
- Emma (10/5): Little extras make it extra special - Beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff, lots of little touches that make it extra special
- John Martin (9/5): Local to station, some nice quirky features which we loved, clean and very friendly staff - Quiet clean comfortable room Nothing Really ,but if you had problems climbing stairs it would not be the best place to stay
- C2161TKalisonh (10/5): A must stay - Bought as a gift and what a suprise. Fabulous boutique hotel. Location great. Attention to detail fab! Information about local restaurants and bars really helpful. The staff were awesome, very helpful. Offered free cookies ,milk and Prosecco 😋Would definitely recommend and stay again
- LisaJayneRodgers (10/5): Just WOW!!!! - Stumbled across the Cow Hollow on booking.com and so glad we did !
We arrived early checked our bags in and came back after check in time and our bags were in our room waiting for us.
The hotel is just WOW!!!
The staff are amazing, so so friendly and helpful!
The whole hotel has only 14 rooms I think proper Boutique hotel. Full of attention to detail.
Lovely gesture of a glass of free prosecco and nibbles in the bar.
The room itself ... gorgeous! Comfy bed, speaker, Netflix on TV, high class toiletries. They have thought about everything and got it right.
When we got in after our night out we asked for a cup of tea and this came with cookies.
Breakfast was delivered to the room and was so delicious.
We loved the hotel so much we have booked again for later in the year
- Emma (10/5): -
- Benjamin (9/5): - Very welcoming and good location.
Breakfast in bed is a great touch.
Small and cosy hotel. Nothing to complain about.
Should have booked it earlier for a better price.
- matthew (10/5): Wow just wow !! - Loved absolutely everything about The Cow Hollow the attention to detail is just amazing
Great Location
Amazing breakfast delivered to your room
Complimentary glass of prosecco and nibbles at the bar Nothing to dislike
- Linda (10/5): Great value exceptional hotel in good location for seeing Manchester - The staff were very helpful and accomodating. Nothing was too much trouble. They even brought up tea to the room early in the morning two minutes after ordering! Breakfast was served to the room on time and was very tasty. Complimentary drinks (including a glass of prosecco) all made it a very pleasant experience. It took us a while to find the hotel - a bigger sign outside would have helped. Apart from that, there was nothing we didn't like
- Suzanne (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf - Mooi knus hotel met hele attente service Het licht op de badkamer was wat weinig
- Vicki (10/5): Excellent customer services!! Will return again - Breakfast in bed Nothing
- Freya (10/5): A stay I never wanted to end - The property is stunning. The decor is beautiful, everything is so clean. The room was huge, had everything and more that you needed, having hair straighteners, curling iron and hairdryer all available in your room is top tier. The staff could not be better, always happy to help, super smiley and couldn’t do more for you. cCheck in and out was very easy, was actually quite sad to leave. Will definitely be back.
- 955duncanj (10/5): Top Shabby Chic Style Hotel - Quirky boutique hotel in the middle of Manchester City centre, we had a beautiful shabby chic style room, that is different from regular hotels and one to remember for all the right reasons.
Canapés and a glass of wine on the house before we went out for the evening which was very welcome. The following morning breakfast was served to our room all in all a very pleasant and a memorable experience
- Mary (9/5): Great place - Great location, an array of complimentaries including prosecco, breakfast and milk/cookies before bed. Very comfy, clean warm room, and beautifully presented building, staff were absolutely great.
Will definitely be staying again! Not really negatives compared to the positives, but no window to open or extractor fan meaning the room would steam up after showering, but this may be due to it being a listed building. Also worth mentioning there’s a holding charge which can take a while to be cleared from your back
- Genevieve (9/5): magical - What a gem! All the staff were consistently welcoming and friendly and efficient. The little extras were such a surprise. There was even a mini speaker in the room!!!! Fabulous shower, punctual and delicious breakfast brought to our room. We will 💯 be back! Nothing
- carag687 (10/5): Fantastic hotel, excellent service, great location. - We recently had a lovely 2 night stay at the Cows Hollow Hotel. The staff are extremely friendly, and can’t do enough for you. The breakfast brought to your room on a morning is lovely, and the free Prosecco, nibbles, and milk and cookies on an evening a great touch. The rooms are cozy, but have everything you need (and more!) including toiletries, a fan, a speaker, multiple hair tools, and a safe. We were even offered an hours later checkout for no extra cost. The hotel is in a great location, with Victoria station being around a 15 min walk, and the Ardnale Centre being around a 10 min walk. I’ve stayed here 3 times now and have really enjoyed each stay, and hope to return soon.
- Annie (9/5): -
- Hannah (10/5): - Location, staff, rooms Showers were lukewarm
- Caroline (10/5): Wonderful service! - Lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were amazing and the service was incredible. They were super accommodating to my service animal and i felt really looked after. Thank you again!

- John (10/5): Prefect hotel, definitely a must stay when In Manchester - Location to Northern Quarter
Luxurious
Welcoming
Friendly
Breakfast in bed was amazing Nothing
- Louise (10/5): Beyond brilliant! - This was an amazing stay. The hotel was beautiful, the service was outstanding, we got prosecco when we arrived, the staff went above and beyond for us, they were so polite, just incredible. Nothing but good words to say! Was genuinly great, no notes!
- Reagan (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Great location
Helpful friendly staff
Great looking room Not much storage space in room but to be honest the good points outweigh this minor thing by a mile.
- Kelsey (9/5): Absolutely amazing - will be returning in future! - Stunning hotel!
Stayed in room 16 and it was the perfect size whilst still being cosy. The style was fabulous and the room was well equipped. The pictures absolutely don’t do the hotel justice!
We had a phone for room service, two hairdryers and a pair of straighteners, ear plugs, water (still and sparkling) and a little pack of sweets on arrival.
The room also has a Bluetooth speaker and a TV with Netflix.
There was also access to an iron/ironing board and complementary tea/coffee for the entire stay.
We got complementary Prosecco/nibbles, milk/cookies and breakfast in bed!
It was very quiet and we weren’t disturbed by anybody at all.
Staff were all incredibly polite and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.
Location was also great! There is an overhead rainfall shower and also a smaller shower head, but the bracket had come off for the small one so only the overhead option was usable, unless you held the small one the entire time - not too helpful when you don’t want to get your hair wet, but very minor!
Said slippers were included and there weren’t any in our room but this is another very minor thing - we were there early so they were probably just trying to get everything done for us, and if we asked for them I am 110% sure they would’ve been more than happy to provide! We just weren’t overly bothered.
- David (8/5): -
- Watson (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, the room was perfect with a huge bathroom. Its a fantastic location! The bed was heaven ! I did not want to get out of it. adored the shutters on the window and wooden beams.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Greathead (10/5): -
- Salter (4/5): Suitable for vacationers for a day or so - Great location,
Very central
Friendly staff No wardrobe or closet space note in the bedroom.
Dark room in adequate lighting
Tiny shower room
No privacy of note - you arrive and leave for a very small bar
- Jodie (10/5): Excellent! - Great location, loads of places to eat/drink/shop close by. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Hotel clean, lots of facilities and little extras. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Nothing!
- Joanne (10/5): Fab return stay at our favourite hotel! - Very friendly staff, extremely clean and welcoming love the extra touches like hot chocolate and breakfast to your rooms
Lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for you! Nothing the showers are hotter now since last stay which is better!
- Schmitz (8/5): Originell, mal was anderes , cool - Sehr originell, mitten im Northern Quarter Kleines Frühstück, aber lecker
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful hotel , great staff , unbelievable value for money - It was an amazing Hotel- initially we thought it was small but it was so well laid out inside - the decor and furniture were so good .The staff were so friendly and you immediately felt at home and comfortable - loved the free glass of Prosecco and the cookies and milk were a nice touch.we didn’t get to stay for breakfast in bed unfortunately but it looked amazing and such a. Great idea There was nothing not to like
- Rael (10/5): The best hotel experience in my trip to the UK. I can’t wait to be back. - Wonderful stay! The staff goes above and beyond for a truly welcoming and comfortable experience from the moment you arrive to when you leave. The only place I ever want to stay when in Manchester!
- Boot (8/5): Lovely place I would 100% stay there again - The friendly staff. The original style which showed character
breakfast brought to my room at my requested time was warm and delicious. My standard room had no storage. Only 3 clothes hangers on back of door.
- Olivia (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Sally (9/5): Great stay, would use again. Great value - Friendly, helpful staff. Quirky hotel, central for what we needed.
- allison (10/5): The Cow Hollow is a gem! Thank you for making my travel delay worth it. - Last minute booking in Manchester due to missing my connection to Amsterdam. The hotel staff was so friendly and accommodating that it completely changed my mood. Comfortable bed and awesome breakfast the next morning. Honestly made my travel delay a welcomed adventure! Thank you!! Really nothing. Everyone was great.
- aiden (10/5): Absolutely perfect ! - Location was fantastic, lovely and clean and staff were amazing nothing
- Darren (10/5): -
- Melanie (8/5): -
- Pamela (9/5): - Gem of a place with lovely staff. Easy location for city centre and beautifully adapted to showcase old and new.
Will book again
- Emily (10/5): Perfect - Staff were all so welcoming and lovely. I’ve never stayed in a hotel where the service has been so amazing! The room was also very clean and cozy. That I couldn’t stay longer
- KarenG334 (10/5): Amazing little hotel! - Amazing little hotel with friendly staff, a lovely lounge, and unexpected food/drink treats throughout our stay!
- Kenneth (9/5): -
- Lauren (8/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Daytripper36 (10/5): Don't overlook Cow Hollow Hotel - Cow Hollow Hotel turned out to be the perfect choice for us visiting Manchester for the first time for a short break. The room we had was en suite, quiet and comfortable. The staff were constantly pleasant, kind and helpful. Breaskfast was brought to our room every morning and teas/coffee and fruit were complementary . Nice touch. Book direct for an excellent package. When we come back we'll be revisiting Cow Hollow.
- Lee (10/5): Cosy oasis in NQ - Very cosy! Fab extra like a free prosecco and nibbles ! Also breakfast in bed ! We were only staying one night so our room was fine but would struggle if staying longer as very little room for bags or hanging things up
- ugochukwu (10/5): -
- Adrian (9/5): -
- P9044ODmarks (10/5): Perfect - Great location and the staff are very professional. Clean great facilities
- Mark (10/5): It was only one night but perfect location and the staff were very professional - Clean and modern Nothing
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceeded all expectations, will definitely return - The vibe. Decor and lighting were relaxing, the staff made us feel welcome as soon as we entered. We were offered complimentary prosecco until 7pm, and cookies before bed. Our breakfast was delivered on time, presented beautifully and set us up for the day. The room was quite small. Although the space in the ensuite was used well and accommodated a large comfy bed, some kind of storage or clothes rail would have been handy
- Paola (10/5): - The staff were very welcoming from the beginning!
We were able to leave our bags before check in and when we came back they already put them in the room. They also let us leave our bags after the check out since we had a later train.
We arrived at almost midnight and they received us with tea and cookies! It was great after a day of being around all day long. They serve breakfast to your room which is amazing because you tell them what time you want it at.
Everything was super clean. The only down side (but it wasn't terrible) is that we wish there was more of a table in the room to leave our suitcases on
- Sarah (10/5): Best boutique hotel in Manchester - The staff are amazing, lovely complimentary Prosecco, nibbles and cookies and milk before bed! I’d have liked a few more breakfast options but my avo on toast was lovely and I really enjoyed it being bought to me in the morning for breakfast in bed!
- Andrea (8/5): Stylish, comfortable and convenient - The stylish comfort . Good quality food , linen, crockery, bedding and decor There was no option to add extra light, eg. Needs a brighter light for bathroom mirror ( to apply make up etc) and maybe a dimmer switch or stronger bulb for main light in the bedroom.
- Les (10/5): -
- Oliver (8/5): Epic, would stay again x - Lovely staff, the place smells beautiful.... The rooms are teeny weeny but that's the only thing I would say that is even slightly neggy :)
- Coxen (10/5): -
- Amberjah (9/5): Amazing stay for a night or two - Everything was wonderful. The staff are super helpful and attentive. Couldn't have asked for more from a boutique hotel! The bedrooms are small and other reviews noted this but it didn't bother me as a solo traveller for one evening. The freebies and staff were great. Loved breakfast in bed and the tea to the room. I ordered food from Uber and the staff even helped me get it from outside! - The shower pressure and temperature is a bit low but this is advised due to eco-friendly modes they are in.
- Natalie (8/5): Lovely night away x - All the extra touches the complimentary drinks and nibbles , the morning breakfast and drinks to room were lovely Our room was tiny the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in but luckily we only stayed the night would definitely stay again but in a bigger room
- N9798TEneilt (10/5): hotel is an absolute gem - Had a wonderful stay in room five. Thank you.
The standout for us is that your staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It makes the stay much happier than in a dull and boring hotel that lacks character.
We will be back and hope that nothing at all has changed. Your hotel is an absolute gem, and you should be proud of it.
- Jennie (10/5): -
- Lauren (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel with a unique quirky style. Great little touches such as prosecco and nibbles, cookies and milk. - We loved its unique quirky style. The room we stayed in was perhaps a little too small.
- Dream46067935562 (10/5): Amazing Boutique Style Hotel - A huge thankyou to the Management and staff for our lovely stay at The Cow Hollow! It is just how we remebered it from our last visit in 2022. Gorgeous decor, amazing helpful staff, a very comfy bed and the most fabulous breakfast. We loved it! ❤️ Please don't change a thing! The Cow Hollow will always be our first go to when visiting Manchester and require an overnight stay. Highly recommended.
- Katie (7/5): - Great location and lovely, welcoming staff. Breakfast tray was a lovely addition as well. Decor in the bedroom was nice and the quirky boutique vibe lent itself nicely to our anniversary night away. Bathroom too small to use mirror to get ready in and the lighting in the bedroom wasn't good enough to use the mirror in there. Bar is advertised as open late but staff not able to make cocktails although they gave it a good go. Had to request some slippers to put on in our room as the bare floor boards were cold and uncomfortable, especially after getting out of the lukewarm shower. I appreciate there is a sign in the bathroom explaining why the showers don't get hot but it was verging on unpleasant to have a shower it was that cool.
- Nicola (8/5): - The hotel was finished to a high standard. The staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The standard room is very small the bed fits in with just enough room to walk either side. I certainly wouldn’t have paid £159 for the room but we fell lucky and got it at a reduced price £89. The breakfast was a nice touch served in the room. I think different welcome drink could be offered instead of prosecco but that’s personal choice. The coffee machine at the end of the hall was noisy and could be heard in our room. With the standard rooms being down stairs there was a slight smell of damp as you came downstairs.
