Guest Reviews
- Hannalie (5/5): - Good location Mens bathroom - no light, nowhere to hang towels and clothes. Door latch broken.
Rooms no hang nails for clothes. Bed had plastic cover with bedding slipping off
- KATSUKI (6/5): Struggling with mosquito. - Male stuff was super kind and helpful.
Nice hammock
Beach and city center are so close. House had many holes.
Mosquitoes everywhere. No escape place.
Shower and toilet and communal place must me maintained.
- Arthur (9/5): - Great location, beach is across the street and the neighbor is a small coffee place. Comfy beds, equipment is decent. Amazing value for money Nothing major comes to mind, remember this is a budget, camping-like place
- Laura (9/5): - Excellent location, clean and tidy, friendly staff and owner. I would 100% recommend and go back 🙏🏽
- Madeleine (9/5): - Awesome and very helpful staff. Even though my arrival and departures were a little chaotic I got tremendous help which smoothed out the process.
- Clinton (10/5): - People hosts Well taken care of By Johan
- Gunter (10/5): Right on Tofo Beach! - You literally only have to cross a small road and you are right on the beach, less than 100 meters from the Indian Ocean - and just a short walk to Tofo market with all the nice restaurants and bars. Perfect location, not too busy or noisy. Great value for money, friendly staff.
- Rock (9/5): Chilled, relaxed. - A short stroll from the main drag and market, but without the noise.A fully equipped kitchen, a shady garden, plenty of toilets and showers hot aswell, in the dormitory section, all kept clean throughout day, for breakfast i recommend you go to Kumba Lodge, turn left and walk along the beach for 15 minutes, youll see it up on the ridge, dont forget to take sandals as the sand maybe too hot to walk on coming back.Nice secluded back garden. You can walk to Barra, by turning left, walk atound the headland, places yo eat and drink there, anout 8kms one way, take plenty of water.
- Reza (10/5): Will recommend 100% - I loved my stay. Definitely recommend. Friendly staff. Clean. Close to the beach.
- Lisa (8/5): Super! - Jättebra läge precis vid stranden, mysigt kafé (Jens Café) med gott kaffe och mysig hund.
Trevlig personal och mysigt ställe!
- Andy&Mandy (9/5): For 60 years Inhambane was on my bucket list. Worst dissapointment ever. - The camp was better than we expected, and well run by the German owner, even though restricted by the government who owns all property. He is good with communications and we were thrilled withour rooms aupgrade. The staff went out of their way to solve problems and being helpfull. When we arrived I found the only dishtowel in the kitchen was terrible. I held it up and started singing to it. "You are HOLY, HOLY HOLY..." in my best church voice. Within 2 minutes a staff member ran with a new one!. Pity i can not upload the video clip. Since the camp has uncapped wifi, I can not understand why Joggom wants to restrict access to the office? I guess many people are glued to their phones, even on holidays? if you want to lie on a lovely beach do come. If you are looking for coral reefs and blue water...stay away.
- Simon (8/5): Perfekte Lage, sympathischer Host und top Preis- Leistungsverhältnis -
- Andre (8/5): - The location, not directly in the bustle of town. The basic WYSIWYG feel; I looked for a place with a beachfront hippiesque feel. This is it. Jens tearoom on the front terrace is a treasure. Enjoyed the opportunity to practice my German with the owner. The shower water pressure, although that is understandable.
- Finlay (10/5): -
- christopher (7/5): - Very friendly, helpful staff It was noisy, but it was New Year’s and was expected for that degree of the world overall, though I would recommend the place
- Veronique (10/5): - Right on the beach, very close to downtown and restaurants. Very secure. Rooms cleaned every day..
Friendly staff and owner. The perfect place for budget Travellers.
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Ralf (10/5): Gern wieder und öfter - Strandnähe , trotzdem Ruhe , aufmerksamer, hilfsbereiter Service , werde wieder kommen und kann es jedem empfehlen, sehr gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis
- thibaut (9/5): Great staff and quiet place -
- Beatrice (8/5): - The position is amazing, in front of the sea. You will sleep with the sound of the ocean.
The place is simple, but with a nice garden and common kitchen quite equipped. Staff nice and ready to help you. I extended my stay twice. Internet is not so good and do not arrived to all the room.
- Alexandr (10/5): - Super place and very good owner!
Totally reccomend for all true Travellers💪 Clean
- Lars-Reimer (10/5): - Super Lage direkt am Strand und Minuten vom netten Ortskern
Freundliches Café um Leute zu treffen
Preis/Leistung sehr gut
- Michela (1/5): Don't stay here - Nothing The photos posted don't match the reality at all; the structure is almost dilapidated.
WiFi doesn’t work.
We didn't always have hot water in the shower; when we did, it took a long time to arrive, and if you used the toilet, it got cold.
The rooms weren't cleaned every day, as soon as we entered there was a intense smell of dust.
Worse still, my friend had an expensive jacket stolen from her room.
- Walter (7/5): Good - Rustic and close to the beach. Nice atmosphere No hot water and little water pressure in the shower
- Walter (7/5): Good -
- Shachar (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing the owner is so nice it fept like home
- Joshua (10/5): Full of adventure and friendship! - Amazing location. Beautiful accommodation and great nature.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cloete (10/5): Great early mornings on the hammock looking out to the ocean - Close to beach
- Vanaga (9/5): Superb - Super beautiful place very close to the city and the ocean. Simple accommodation at a reasonable price. Everything you need was there. There were so many people moving around at the reception that it was hard to understand who to pay or ask for anything. A form or a pin would have been good. The cleaning was sloppy.
- Nele (10/5): Exceptional - The motel is literally on the beach so you walk out and immediately enjoy your beach time! Besides that, the accommodation is super cosy and has very good vibes! The owners are super helpful, the local staff is amazing and takes care of your laundry if you want! I had a great stay here and it's really perfect for people who are travelling on a budget but still wanna enjoy the beach life in an affordable way! I would go back in a heartbeat! There's nothing I didn't like about this place!
- Kayla (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tobias (10/5): Best location right at the beach - The location is the best - right at the beach & you hear the waves falling asleep
- breakfast on the veranda overlooking the ocean
- Jenn has such a great cafe right next to the entrance
- the staff is very friendly & helpful
- the local market is 3 min walking distance away
- hot showers & good water pressure
- basic but great value for money
- Sanders (10/5): Found this very amazing little haven inside the have of Tofo and I don’t want to leave. - Very beautiful property right on the beach. With very friendly staff. None
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vincent (9/5): Superb - Very nice and helpful staff, perfect location right at the beautiful beach, good value for money and cool people staying there
- Antonio (9/5): Great introduction to tofo - It's very practical, and the staff was delightful. All was fine.
- Neringa (9/5): Simple - Nice place to stay for budget travellers. Perfect location, simple and comfortable for hot days. Has a wifi space, kitchen and laundry service. Good value of money. Need to pay in cash.
- Alice (6/5): Pleasant -
- Devine (7/5): Good -
- Jonty (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Vako (9/5): Superb - The staff; from the owner to Misteria (I hope I wrote the right spelling), to the cleaning ladies, the guard in the evenings.
The location; just a few min from the main fun area and right on the beach.
Free coffee from 7 till 10 am. Little things like the lighting in the room.and the toilet, a bit more seriousness on the shower (plus the broken locks).
The internet, which I guess it's a whole Moz problem.
Plugs and private lights for each bed would help.
- Maïté (2/5): Very poor - na In general, the hostel is not properly maintained to guarantee the well being and basic hygiene.
We understand that water was a challenge for Tofo at that period, however, no measures were taken to ensure that the bathrooms could stay in a decent state for the guests. We could not flush the toilet or have a decent shower. The hostel was full at the time and the bathrooms were disgusting. We did not feel comfortable.
In our dorm, the ceiling was falling apart, with dust and pieces falling on our beds and items. When it was raining, it was raining in our beds. The windows could not close and no locker are available which could be a safety issue. In addition, objects were stored in the dorm ; cement bags, sheet metal panels a fridge and a freezer.
- Lc (3/5): Poor -
- Yanis (7/5): Fine for a short stay - The location, right on the beach!!
Safe parking for the car The lady at the reception was not very friendly
Rooms are small for two people with luggages
- Pauli (9/5): Superb -
- Pauli (8/5): Very good -
- Janusz (7/5): Quite a nice place but not a very comfortable one. - Located at the very beach (beautiful one!), but also very simplistic - small bungalows with walls and roof from cane, little rooms with two beds, mosquito nets, 3 cane shelves and that's it. Lighting in the rooms is rather minimal, WiFi working more or less reasonably only in the reception area. Kitchen available. 100m from the Liquid Adventure diving center, if you are diving. Small bar next to the motel door. Lady at reception speaks English, no problems with communication. Cold showers in the shared bathroom next to our bungalow.
- Tiny (8/5): Stones throw to the beach -
- Harry (9/5): Superb - Location is amazing
- Jonathan (5/5): Passable - Cheap basic accommodation right on the beach with good WiFi. In need of a renovation and deep clean.
They charge you 3% more than the agreed upon price on booking.
The lady running the place acts quite uninterested.
Better value places available in town.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peterson (7/5): Good -
- Sitoe (7/5): Good - The smell of the blankets, the size of the blankets. I went there with my wife so I was supposed do get a blanket for a couple not for single.
- Helen (9/5): Fantastic - Almost couldn't leave, felt like home away from home. Nothing beats being able to run across the sand into the ocean in the mornings. Staff was friendly and social. Rats were in the room and left droppings.
- Kat (8/5): Affordable and rustic accommodation on Tofo Beach - The staff was friendly and accommodating. The property is literally on the beach so that is lovely. There weren't many guests so it was quiet. I went for a private room so I did not experience the dorms. Also, there is a restaurant and surf shack attached to the property so you are set with amenities. It is a very short walk into town and the market with lots of food options. I should have looked into paying at the property as the card machine isn't working. Luckily, I had some rands to exchange. They called someone to come and exchange rands for MTC so I could pay in cash. Take note there is NO ATM in the town so bring plenty of cash! Also, the wifi works in the main area but not the rooms so it's not as suitable for digital nomads... however, the data from local SIM cards works like a charm!
- Laia (10/5): Exceptional - In front of the beach and in city center, is the perfect hostel. The people is very nice and nice garden.
- Marina (10/5): Perfect location :) - We enjoyed a lot our stay at Pariango.
The location is amazing! Staff was so nice they helped us with everything we needed. The place is close to all restaurants, bars, market, diving center and surfing school. The facility itself has nice resting area, kitchen, bbq. We would definitely recommend stay!
- Karlijn (8/5): Very good -
- Edward (2/5): 20 USD for a dorm bed is crazy! - The location on the beach and surf shop next door. The owner was responsive on whatsapp - but charged way too much for a bed. The dorms are essentially in a metal shed - similar to something you'd keep chickens in. The dorm rooms are hot and with only one plug socket for a fan and nowhere to charge your phone. The owner asks you to pay in cash when there are no cash machines in Tofo. There were only 2 showers for all the male guests and one of them didnt have a door and the water is brown.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Natalia (10/5): Ask for room 1: it's worth it! The only bungalow from where you have the sea view . -
- Jens (9/5): Lovely owners, perfect location, chill and cheap. - Pariango is a very chill hostel with the perfect location. It’s right on the beach, and very close to town. We really enjoyed our stay there. Could invest in better lights in the rooms.
- Sofia (8/5): Multicultural and relaxed place in front of the beach - It's a backpackers hostel frequented by people of all nationalities, friendly and relaxed atmosphere where it is very easy to chitchat or make new friends. The place is literally adjacent to a surf shack where you can rent boards receiving a discount as Pariango customers and also it is extremely easy to get to places such as the market, the beach or clubs. Also the bus stop is just 200m from it. Dormitories were very hot so it was difficult to rest despite fans and electrical outlets were few compared to available beds.
Sometimes the water running in the bathrooms was really poor.
- Chiwunga (9/5): Superb - Scenery Nothing
- Jofane (7/5): I was looking for a place to sleep because I wanted to do many things. My stay at Pariango was not that bad. - The property is next to the beach, so you can enjoy the view also you can walk to the beach. The room and the bed was not cleaned, for the days I stayed I didn’t see the staff changing the bed clothes.
The water at the bathroom was not cleaned, but the owner of the property explained that it’s a problem in Tofo, and I confirmed because I went to a restaurant and I saw that the water was cloudy.
The sun gets easily at the bedroom so if you’re a person who doesn’t like sleeping in a bright room it’s not worth it.
you can also ear people cooking in the kitchen, so you can’t rest well, and people working in the carpentry shop next door.
The room is very hot and not all fans work.
The water in the bathroom doesn’t get with much pressure, so if someone else is taking shower you must ask for the person to wait for you.
- Andres (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brana (7/5): Great location for the price - The perfect and center location, from the beach to the market.
Misteria was very thoughtful and responsible. The cleaning staff mainly, that we're very lazy, sleep and eat in the same areas with customers, use the toilets during the day and night (sometimes disturbing while resting).
The kitchen cleaning and organization was chaotic, the fridges were full packed and not functioning properly. The utilities were not well cleaned at all.
There was not a microwave to quickly heat anything.
- Anna (9/5): I highly recommend the hostel. The staff is great the owner is very helpful. I changed dates of my staying a few times a -
- Simon (9/5): Great backpacking experience in Tofo, especially if you are on a budget and want to meet people. - The hostel has a great location. There is a lot of space to hang out in the garden. The staff is very friendly. The other guests were sociable and there was a great vibe in the place. The kitchen is well equiped. The tap water was green/brown and the bathroom facilities could be improved.
- Kondwani (7/5): Good - Location is excellent The shower is in bad condition. Water looked dirty
- Sonia (9/5): Thumbs up for Pariango - I liked the communal area, we got to meet people from different places and got a chance to have great conversations. The hosts and staff were awesome, very friendly and helpful. Great place to go as a couple, group of friends or family.
- Sandra (5/5): Passable -
- Victor (8/5): Good for meeting people, good enough if you’re on a budget - Walking distance to shops, restaurants, the beach, good place to meet people Hot water not always available, rooms get a bit too warm at night and the fan isn’t strong enough in my opinion. Also, mosquito nets need to be taken care of; some have too many holes.
- Dan (10/5): great location, comfy bed, good kitchen, nice communal areas - It was really nice and relaxed, social and comfortable. And good value for money, we would definitely stay again. The owner is also very helpful and responsive. we couldn’t stay longer
- Elizabeth (4/5): For the desperate - The owner was very flexible about allowing me to move my two night booking forward by one day. The location is over the road from the beach. There isn't actual wifi - there is something in the entrance which allows you only to access social media (Facebook and WhatsApp) but you can't browser any sites (I had to keep going to other places to get wifi to book buses or accommodation in my next location). My ensuite shower room was dirty and small, I showered at the dive centre instead of having to use it. The sheets already had sand and dirt on top before I even touched them. When I had to catch the 4am bus - and told this to the owner the night before - he didn't tell me that the main entrance (as far as I knew, the only entrance) was locked at a certain point at night. Just before 4am, I couldn't get out (no-one on site to hear my banging or shouting) and I had to find a dorm room and wake other people up to get out - while nearly missing my bus. The place felt starved of soul and energy.
- Nicolas (7/5): Good - Perfectly located at the beach
Pretty garden inside
Nice vibe
Cheap
Nice outdoor shower!
Overall a nice stay :) Kitchen a bit dirty and dark
Holes in the Mosquito nets
Not that easy to reach without a 4x4 because of the sand
No hot water
- Hugh (6/5): It’s incredibly basic. Cold water, no Internet. Depends on your expectations - location Staff
