Guest Reviews
- Nicola (2/5): book somewhere else - it was cheap, bit you always get what you paid for.. the property was not clean and the rain came inside the bungalow.. it dropped on our bed. We booked the Bungalow for one Week and legt after two nights because of the circumstances.
- Olivia (4/5): - Construction, dirty sheets, rotting roof, slugs coming out of bathroom drain, mosquitos and no mosquito net, never saw the staff once, no where to put trash, rotting curtains, roof leaked when it rained, toilet was always covered in brown water in the mornings.
- Ali (1/5): Bad -
- Kishan (1/5): Bad - Nothing All things
- Charlene (7/5): Good for the money and lovely staff, bit out of shape but still lovely - Location is very nice, staff is super friendly, houses are cute Bit dirty blanket and fan
- Harshit (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (5/5): Passable -
- Nicole (7/5): it’s nice & cheap place to stay if you are on a budget but the management needs to advice all guest to keep noise do - it’s cute & clean bamboo bungalow at a central location the wall is too thin between next door bungalow. I got woken up by their loud phone conversation at 2/3am. I had to bang on the wall to tell them to take the conversation outside of the room so I can go back to sleep. because of this I won’t stay here again :(
- Andreea (7/5): Good - Very noisy around because of the construction works, very thin walls and no amenities provided. pictures are way better than reality unfortunately. Not sleeping at all and not very clean either.
long distance from the beach as well and there are no sun beds at the pool either.
- Kira (8/5): We had a good time and it was a great first accommodation. - The staff was really friendly and helpful and we loved that it was a little out of the city center. We rented a scooter from moon bamboo, which was so easy. The bathroom is a little bit more outside feeling which is cool and kind of the Bali vibe. We liked the cute little bungalow. The kitchen was not the best but it is cheap to eat in the earrings so no need for cooking:) The bathroom is a little bit more outside feeling which is cool and kind of the Bali vibe. - Alex (10/5): Exceptional - nice service Staf
- Foale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ivan (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly staff to help resolve any issue.
Location is not a problem if you have a bike or if you use a taxi.
The hut is interesting and quite comfortable, sometimes geckos creep in, but for me they are not terrible, so it's okay. The towels had a few stains but were generally washed.
The bathroom in my hut was outdoor type with a large opening in the corner, so there were quite a lot of insects, caterpillars, etc. In general, there were no problems from this, but it would be better if the geckos came there for dinner :-)
The main point is the price / quality ratio, it seems to be a bit overpriced, but overall the impression is satisfactory.
- Carla (10/5): Would totally recommend Moon Bamboo peaceful , clean place to stay! - Moon Bamboo is a beautiful quaint place to stay we had a bedroom with a large bed , air con a fan and a bathroom. We also had a little porch area that we could sit out on and have our morning coffees. It’s really peaceful here , tucked behind a busy road going through Canggu. Yaya the host was always very helpful with anything needed & Puta the cleaning lady was amazing super hard working always cleaning around the place & changed our bedding and towels daily , she always asked if we needed our room cleaned. There’s a small kitchen to use to prepare food and a shared dining table looking out to the rice paddy and the mountains .
We can’t forget to mention Pluto the dog he was lush!! he would often walk us down the road to the near by gym and then greet us wagging his tail when we returned.
We initially booked for 2 weeks and have decided to stay for another 2 weeks as we love it here ♥️ no complaints
- Eleni (7/5): Good - Great price and a very friendly host who is willing to be accommodating. You need to be prepared for the reality of staying in a bamboo hut. You feel quite exposed to the elements and there is little sound insulation. If you need total silence to sleep or are uncomfortable with animals and bugs, it isn't the place for you. The staff will do all they can to make you comfortable, but this is a unique sort of stay and you need to be mindful of that when you book. It is a bit like 'glamping'.
- Carina (2/5): do not want to return ever again - Dirty towels, dirty sheets, all kinds of animals inside, too noisy around.. do not recommend!
- jamescA1456ZO (2/5): Rat in my room. Avoid - I am loathe to criticise in public, however feel it necessary to do so in this case. Cheap deal so had low expectations. Room was basic as one would expect.
Over the course of the night, there was a persistent noise in my room which I could not identify. I was somewhat horrified when I finally identified the noise to be a rat cascading the wall of the room at around 2 am in the morning.
I immediately packed and found alternative accommodation in the middle of the night.
Should be added that I was to pay on checkout and did not pay. But notwithstanding, would strongly advise against staying here on the basis of my brief time there.
- Emett (8/5): Very good -
- James (1/5): Unsettling, unnerving, disgusting and scaring - Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Avoid at all costs. There were rats in my room.
- Matthieu (7/5): Good -
- Louise (8/5): greaaaat stay - really nice host !!!
and beautiful place a bit noisy
- Remi (8/5): Very good - they are trying to rent you a really overpriced scooter.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Left after 15 minutes. - Yikes. If you want a comfortable place to sleep that offers security for your belongings, clean bedding, a quiet atmosphere and a cool climate - this is NOT it. It's on me for thinking we would be okay with just a fan, but I had not realized that there are NO doors or windows to the rooms so the single fan on one corner of the room provided zero help in that very hot climate. My husband booked us a room somewhere else within 15 minutes of arriving as we were sweating profusely in the room already, and were unhappy with the cleanliness and state of the amenities. I give 2 stars only because the front desk staff felt very bad and tried to give us another room, but there are no otions with A/C OR with a door for privacy, so we went on our way. Please just know what you are getting into before you arrive so you don't come disappointed. Perhaps would be ok for someone travelling alone (not having another person to add heat in the bed at night) that is comfortable with a glamping style accommodations.
- 335trungn (6/5): Good Location - This villa has the great swimming pool and nice accommodations. Besides, the location is advantage for travelling. However, the breakfast is limited: only noodle, fruits, coffee and tea. The staff is frieny and very helpful.
- 5afsanehf (4/5): Not good - The place is clean but didn't have hot water for shower. Even we ask them to fix it but the staff didn't fix so we couldn't took a shower. Also the eria is very far than the beach or shopping places or every where so you need to rent the bike for 60k Rp. There was not lots of passenger but seems safe by the way.
There is no safety box and no wall for the room!! staffs didn't care about helping for moving heavy luggage . The aria was only good for taking photos.
By the way the break fast was good which I give 2 star for that only. Not reasanable for the price. I won't choose it for my next trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very basic, but we expected that from reading the other reviews. The room was clean but the shower head holder was missing from the wall, so we had to shower holding the shower head with one hand. If your room is near the front, expect to be woken up early as the staff are not the quietest. I suppose you get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - molto tipica, rustica e semplice. il bagno è separato dalla camera con una semplice tenda e non esiste una vera e propria porta alla camera, solo una tenda di bamboo a rotolo
- NicsHols1 (6/5): Something different in Bali - So after reading reviews on here I was VERY apprehensive about staying at moon bamboo however I have just stayed here 3 nights in a couple and here is my honest and fair review about the place. I’m not going to say it’s amazing because it isn’t, however if you embrace the authentic living, gorgeous views and aren’t expecting 5* service then you are fine and will enjoy the experience.
Pros:
-The bamboo huts themselves are nice and cosy with a bed, basic storage space and basic bathroom. I don’t agree with some reviews on here about it being ‘filthy’. Don’t stay in a bamboo hut if you are wanting the Hilton!😂
- Shower and hot water work well... and there is a fixture on the wall for the shower head unlike it said in a review I also read on here! However bathroom does need a bit of maintenance.
- Nice pool with area to sunbathe (3 sunlounge beanbags) Pool seemed pretty clean to me.
- Although a bit out the way, the owner is happy to ring a taxi for you however we found renting a bike off them to be much easier and cheaper to get around.
- Yes there are no ‘walls’ however you have 2 curtains and a bamboo blind to pull down at night for privacy... all part of the experience I think!
- WIFI works well. Login and password are in the ‘reception’ area.
- I didn’t see/hear any rats etc in or around my room like the other reviews had mentioned (this was something I was initially worried the most about! Although you may here little noises of birds/insects outside)
Cons.
- Staff are not the most attentive, with you having to ask if you want more toilet rolls, clean towels. You do get 2 waters on arrival and you use a water machine to refill bottles (again we didn’t know this until I asked for more water)
- Breakfast is bad!! Again, the owners don’t seem too bothered about catering for you too much. There is coffee and tea and basic fruit and bread but we didn’t eat this and just went on a bike to cafes/restaurants instead. This is something I really think the owners could improve easily.
- I do agree that the mosquito nets aren’t the newest (some holes in) and could easily be replaced. However they did the job I suppose and we just made sure to spray mosquito repellent on ourselves before we went to sleep.
For us, we were glad we stayed here as it is something different to the usual ‘hotels’ we go for and 3 days was well enough plus we were out exploring lots of the day meaning not a lot of time was spent in the bamboo hut itself. Hope this review helps people who want ‘something different’ in Bali☺️
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm and welcoming hosts. Wish I spent more
Time here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked how open and next to nature it was. Took a night to get used to the frogs of a nights. But truly a different accomodation experience. Would definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the huts and the views
Quite noisy as no door
- Verified traveler (2/5): Owners bad attitude.Dead frog and bugs on a pool. - Luna, the owner acts like "a boss", well that is why she is the owner. She got a helper, she paid her staff to get things done. Luna is not hospitable, she is rude. I asked for a new towel every single day, they never make the room up (never in my 4N of stay), "ask my staff" as she responded to me when I asked for a new towel. I asked for a tissue and she grab her phone, take note that she never bother to acknowledge me I was waiting infront of her like a fool.. later did I know she grab her phone to text her staff to bring the tissue to the room. Cool, right. Breakfast suck! Just show yourself to the mini resto cottage and help yourself to get what you can eat or you have the option not to eat though. The swimming pool was dirty, seems like it was not cleaned for a year. A frog was floating on the pool fighting for his life, then in the morning poor creature was still there but dead. Dead bugs and crickets on the pool. Alive bugs and crickets in the room. I would not recommend this place. The owner needs to improve the place and herself. You own the hotel, yes, but you have to be part of it too. You are the main person of every section from marketing to cleaning of the room if you have to.
- 60Shirl (6/5): Eco accommodation - The hotel is small and friendly. The pool was a bonus and the setting in the rice paddies is lovely. The accomidation is cheap and breakfast is included but was a bit hit and miss being good one day then the next not so good. The road the hotel is off is not to busy but the main road, close by within hearing distance, is constantly very busy and if you want to get to the supermarket you have to take your life in your hands and walk along this road. There are not really many restaurants around so you really do need transport. The hotel do hire motorbikes and they will call you a taxi. It is also quite a way to the beach not really walking distance. The room I had was comfortable there was no AC but it did have a wall mounted fan which was good. The bathroom was adequate and you do gave a lockable cupboard for your belongings. Overall I enjoyed my stay but struggled because of lack of restaurants and getting around.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very cute concept of eco-accommodation. Stayed here for a night which I thought was enough. No doors so do expect insects, and other wildlife to enter your room. I felt that the room could be more clean as I found a dead insect stain on my pillow. Location was a bit far from Canggu area.
Overall nice experience!
- jessicaadamczyk (8/5): Lovely little place - Cute little place with a nice pool and beautiful views of rice paddies. If your looking for more of an authentic type of place to stay then I recommend this place. The rooms only have curtains no doors but there is a cupboard provided with a key to lock your stuff up in. The staff are all amazing and very friendly. The bathrooms are slightly rundown but have everything you need so can't really complain. The only complaint I have was the first day breakfast was really good with lots of options then the next was just a bowl of fruit but for the price of the stay again can't really complain. How much you enjoy this place really depends on what kindof experience you are looking for just keep in mind this place does not have tv or ac but the rooms are equipped with fans.
- kiranahk (2/5): Rasist staff - Was booking the hotel and arrive late evening same time with other westerner but staff call Luna was very unfriendly to us and she is very friendly and cheerfulness only with young dudes and I'm ok with that but my other family member really unpleasant with her attitude this my worst experience in bali.wonder why have this kind staff to hire.awful.we are human as well and not stay the hotel concept are nice and eco friendly but not for friendly staff.
- monicataule (10/5): The perfect escape - Filled with peace and joy from the first minute upon my arrival here at this beautiful place. Such a warm welcome! Amazing bamboo-living surrounded by rice fields. Clean spacious rooms, comfy beds, and you can even enjoy the view of the green rice fields from your shower.
Cool off in the beautiful pool just two steps from your bed!
Shut off your phone, escape the traffic, noise and “must do’s” for a bit and just enjoy the moment.
The perfect eco-living.
Loved this place! And I’m defenitely coming back.
- cucimatajalan (10/5): Amazing place - This amazing place none of the reason for complain this budget place. I love being here and my partner getting jealous with me this time as this my birthday travel by myself.. Will come back with him for sure this mid year 😀
- syams_arief (10/5): AMAZING BUDGET PLACE - This place has amazing landscape view for sunset. Nothing to complain with the facilities for the budget itself that includes comfortable room, breakfast, cozy pool and also the view. The location is around Canggu, the host and staff were serving everything the best, they were super friendly and now I can even remember their names esp Luna, surely you'll see her name written on any review posts later. 😋 Eventough the helper was difficult for speaking english but still, they will help you.
Once you're there please don't forget to send my regards to my beloved friends PLUTO and MARS! 😍🐶
- Amy (8/5): Moon Bamboo 3 night stay - Our stay at Moon Bamboo was overall a good one. We received a young coconut as our welcome drink which we thought was a nice touch. The complex was surrounded by rice fields which was beautiful, and the pool was really nice. The only issue we had was the cleanliness of the bathroom and the breakfast. The bathroom had not been cleaned since the previous guests left, and there was only a scrap of toilet roll left. For breakfast there was either toast, or rice and tofu. We were grateful for there being breakfast but we were often hungry again an hour later! Overall for the price paid it was a good budget stay.
- clairebramford (6/5): Has potential - The place itself if beautiful and clean. The staff are helpful but some were not so good with English. The pool is amazing and the sunsets from the sitting area are really beautiful. Accommodation wise incredible despite the rooms not being very private or sound proofed, for some this might be an issue. We loved everything until it got to breakfast time. Breakfast was all cold and had been left out since 7:30 sitting on the table. Rice that was old, what looked like a small bowl of left over noodles, Tempe, and some toast and scrambled egg that was deep fried in oil. It was all just very oily and stodgy unfortunately. And the tea and coffee (which tasted horrific) were also stone cold which was a downer
- Goujul (10/5): Best place on earth !! - Was supposed to stay two days there with my brother but every two days we had to extend our stay cause the place is so good, Luna the owner such a nice person, and you will just feel so good there. So we end up spending a week in Moon Bamboo, and enjoyed it so much. Quite and really beautiful place. You will feel like home with the nice staff working there, Johnny and Rosa. Will definitely come back !!!! Best sunset view ever from the swimming pool.
- petermN9521VW (10/5): Very peaceful - I stayed there as part of a large group and found the place to be absolutely outstanding, the hotel is situated in the middle of a rice paddy giving marvellous views in all directions, the rooms are very comfortable and set in an extremely relaxing environment, the staff are very helpful and friendly, attentive without being intrusive. They were able to respond very quickly to any request we had. I look forward to my next visit.
- timwC7384SW (10/5): Big group stay with great atmosphere, serenity and fun. - I think our group was the very first to stay in Moon Bamboo. We filled the place, and completely took it over.
Moon Bamboo is not the Hilton, and neither is it pretending to be. This accomodation is honest about what it offers; it's budget, clean, fun, serene and pretty quiet.
I'm happy to give it five stars and I recommend it if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle.
