Guest Reviews
- Edward A. (10/5): Ed’s views - Lovely restored chateau close to one of France’s most charming villages. Hostess
Welcoming and informative. For those who love regional history this is a must
Stopover. Five star lodging experience
- miriam (10/5): Beautiful chateau ! - We loved our stay - welcomed by out host, to a beautiful antique room with 4 poster bed and immaculate modern bathroom. We walked the lovely grounds and had breakfast in old world kitchen. A real treat !
- Joanne (8/5): - We stayed in the Chambre des hommes d'affaires. It was lovely, with windows on three sides and a comfortable bed and a lovely light and spacious bathroom. Helene, the owner of the Chateau who manages the B&B service is absolutely charming. My only criticism was the breakfast which was a little under par.
The Chateau houses a bizarre collection of furniture and 19th century dolls - very odd indeed. But definitely worth staying over because of of the guest room we stayed in (we also peeped in to the Green Room which is wonderful), it view to the front, and its avenue of lime trees which are all magical!
- Bruce (10/5): A Chateau pas Deux - A fabulous experience made extra special by a super obliging host. Wonderful!
- Mark (10/5): - This grand old mansion has been lovingly (I cannot begin to imagine how expensively) restored by its owners, and is literally a museum, as well as the B&B of my dreams.
Indeed, I thought I must be dreaming when, after exiting my car and walking in a state of some astonishment at the grandeur of the property toward the entrance, the completely adorable and immensely charming wife of the owner descended the many front steps to welcome me very warmly, and introduce me to the chateau and my magnificent room.
I was immediately enchanted, and became ever more so during my too-short stay. She presented me with a bottle of delicious Cidre Normande as a welcome gift, but her smile and grace would have been enough.
My room was beautiful, and quite comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern. The sole flaw I encountered was a very old and troublesome door lock, but even that enhanced the sense I had somehow been magically transported into a chapter of Flaubert.
All my life, I will strive to return whenever possible. The owners are not of a class which normally includes innkeepers, but evidently warmly welcome intruders/guests into their lives in order to generate some cash flow to help cover what must be the very large continuing expense of maintaining the chateau. Lucky for those of us who might otherwise never have a chance to spend the night in such a grand maison.
