Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): - A 5* stay from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, Amy made us feel so welcome. After an easy check in, we settled ourselves into the Shepherds Hut which was absolutely beautiful. The way Amy and Jarred have transformed the hut which was once a bedroom in their old house is beyond describable. The hut was immaculate and clean, the bed was so comfortable and the complementary shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were amazing. The hot tub was heated for us when we arrived and stayed warm during our whole visit. On booking, I messaged Amy and informed her it was my partners birthday the day we arrived and she left a couple of little extra things for his birthday celebration. During our stay we met Jarred, their 4 boys (a blessing to Amy and Jarred) and their animals - Mango the dog (loves a treat and a morning hello at the door), Coco and Flo, the donkeys (who love a carrot) and Geoffrey, the Guinea Fowl (who loves some spaghetti pasta). Although you’re tucked away in your own little space within the Shepherds Hut, we frequently bumped into the boys when we were off out who were always so kind, polite and happy to chat. Amy recommended some places to go and eat, visit and see which were all great. We will definitely be back again to stay, hopefully in the summer when we can enjoy the outside a bit more (although the rain didn’t stop us using the hot tub).
- Camila (10/5): Lovely calm and peaceful property - Amy met us on arrival and showed us where to park anf all of the outdoor spaces before showing us to the property. Nothing was any trouble for the hosts and they made us feel really welcome. The property is absolutely stunning and had everything we needed and more. Toiletries smelt gorgeous and the bed was also very comfortable.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful apartment - I had a wonderful 5 night stay in the beautiful apartment. Very spacious, with separate bedroom, it had all the essentials you need. A seating area in the garden was allocated for the apartment, overlooking neighbouring fields. A good location for accessing all areas of North Devon. Amy and her family were very helpful and friendly.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angus (10/5): A refreshing and restful two night stay in comfortable, clean accomodation in a wonderful setting. - Beautiful setting; lovely friendly and helpful hosts; everything clean and well provided; two delightful donkeys and a friendly guinea fowl! Really good information sheets with reciommendations re local pubs and best places to eat - and very accurate, No noise of passing traffic - very peaceful.
Would be very happy to return in the future. There wasnothing that we didn't like, but it is in a rural setting so visitors will hear the sounds of life like owls and the lowing of cattle and bleating of lambs - very bucolic and just as a country retreat should be.
- Philip (10/5): Excellent stay in very comfortable apartment - Very well furnished, decorated and comfortable apartment. Lovely location with views of the countryside. Good bed. Nothing
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Len (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beth (9/5): Couldn’t have been better - Absolutely beautiful property, lovely hosts and around one of the best stays I’ve ever had!
We stayed in the annex, the finish and decor was so pretty. The heating was already on as it was cold outside and there were so many little nice touches! The bed was also VERY comfortable Only thing is the shower struggled to get super hot, but more than manageable for someone who gets cold easily!
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Sabina (10/5): Perfection - Beautiful rural location. Friendly and welcoming owners. Warm and cosy apartment with everything we needed. Coco the donkey ♥️
- Janina (10/5): Beautiful home away from home - The 1 bedroom apartment is gorgeous. Very comfy and beautiful with everything I could wish for as a mum traveling with a little one. And the bed was one of the best beds I ever slept in. The host was super helpful - ahead of our trip but also during. The area around the house is really great, lots of space and always something to discover for the little ones.
In terms of places worth seeing in the area I liked the most Lynton (small and cute) and the SW coast path between Lynton and Valley of Rocks (truly impressive) and Weelacombe Beach (a kind of mother of all beaches).
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Cosy apartment with everything you need for a wonderful stay! - This accommodation is beautiful. It’s so comfortable and has EVERYTHING you need. I stayed for 5 days and cooked at the apartment every night with ease. The bathroom has a wonderful hot shower and the bed is probably the comfiest bed I’ve slept in.
Set in stunning grounds (which you are encouraged to explore and meet the resident animals), the location is ideal for all the points of interest in North Devon.
The hosts are so friendly and welcoming and always stopped for a chat. The little extras also went a long way. Fresh eggs from the chickens, fresh flowers from the gardens and a welcome bottle of Prosecco!
If you need a homely base while exploring North Devon, I 100% recommend Beachborough! Absolutely nothing!
- Tadas (10/5): What a beautiful place to stay, loved it!!! - Very clean and cozy , great location
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was great, had everything we needed and more for our nearly 1 year old. It was really clean and the decor is beautiful. The little touches were very much appreciated, including a bottle of prosecco, some lovely chocolates and fresh eggs. The grounds are stunning, we really enjoyed exploring and feeding the animals. Amy and Jarred were really welcoming and gave excellent recommendations of things to do and places to eat etc. The location was perfect with lots to do nearby. We would definitely like to come back and stay again. Nothing.
- Lovelock (10/5): A place to visit many more times - The location was spot on and the reception when we arrived was very welcoming and friendly. It was just such a lovely and friendly place to stay N/A
- Michael (8/5): Relaxing quite functional - Spacious
Facilities Remote
Un made road to access the property
- Victor (10/5): Home from home! - Amazing place! So well furnished, a real home from home feel and Amy, Jarred a d their boys made us feel so welcomed! Nothing at all.. Just a wonderful place to stay and base yourself in North Devon
- Grahame (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house and accommodation set in large grounds and the beautiful North Devon countryside.
The apartment was spacious and well equipped, with a separate double bedroom and lounge/kitchen area. We loved the decor, the sofa bed is high quality.
The kitchen area had everything we needed. Amy made us feel very welcome, and feeding Coco the donkey was a treat! Nothing!
- Anshul (10/5): Charming Stay with Delightful Hosts in Beautiful North Devon - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Beachborough Country House. The apartment was beautifully decorated and had all the essential amenities, making it perfect for our family of four. The host family was lovely, engaging us in cricket and enjoyable evening conversations. The property is stunning, with a friendly donkey named Coco and a turkey amusingly called Mo, adding to the charm. Our hosts' hospitality truly made our stay special, and we felt very welcome. We had a fantastic time and will definitely visit again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, and memorable getaway. Nothing; everything was perfect :)
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Danielle (10/5): Most beautiful place we've ever stayed - Beautiful accomodation in an amazing setting. Friendly hosts who have done a great job making this a special place to stay.
Kitchen was very well equipped which is helpful as you are so rural, so it's good that it's made easy to cook if you bring food supplies with you.
The gardens and animals, especially Coco the donkey, are lovely. Only recommendation would be having a fan available in the summer but everything else was perfect.
- Tom (10/5): Perfect accommodation and location - highly recommended! - It is hard to share in some short words just how perfect this short stay was for us. We booked on short notice, great fast communication by Amy, very easy arrival and check-in process with a very friendly welcome of Jarred.
Location - perfect (short driving distance to many pubs <10 mins and right off the main A39, but feels very remote and quiet).
Hosts - perfect (Amy and Jarred were very welcoming, friendly and very keen to deliver the best accommodation - exciting to see a new shepherds hut being developed to expand their offering).
Accommodation - perfect, extremely good value with everything we needed, decor was very tasteful and gave us some inspiration to take home!
Very rare that I cannot think of an improvement suggestion to offer, everything was above our expectations. If you have the opportunity to visit, we highly recommend staying at this special property with such lovely hosts.
- Fergus (10/5): Great stay at a lovely house - Great stay with great appartment that was really well equiped. Local attactions close by and easily accessible. Host and family were really lovley and made us very comfortable for first trip with new baby.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Not applicable
- Graham (9/5): Enjoyed it. - The location was central for everything we wanted to do. It was quiet and peaceful. The apartment was spacious. Hosts Amy and Jarred are lovely and provided six fresh eggs from their chickens on arrival. The kitchen didn't have a teapot. Also, there was no microwave which didn't matter to us but could disappoint some people.
- David (10/5): I would thoroughly recommend Beachborough Country House apartment. - I can thoroughly recommend Beachborough Country House. Amy, Jared, their 4 sons, Coco and Mohammed make the stay welcoming, delightful and unique. The apartment is stylishly appointed, comfortable, well equipped, and Amy adds her lovely touches such as fresh flowers, farm eggs, and fresh milk. The house is set in a lovely garden, and well located for sightseeing in Devon. There is on site parking, and the hosts are readily available, and very generous with their time for any questions. The apartment is upstairs with its own entrance. We enjoyed our stay at Beachborough Country House very much. Thank you Amy, Jared and co. There wasnt anything that I didn't like!
- James (10/5): Great place to relax and unwind - DONT MISS THIS Fantastic property, clean spacious and welcoming. Welcomed on arrival, appartment was a great place to chill out and just relax. The biscuits and free range eggs were a great touch. Modern kitchen and all the amenities that you will need. The location is great, exactly where you want it to be.
Should have stayed longer, but we will be back to rest and chill rather than work.
Coco the donkey like carrots and apples (cut up ), the sheep are also lovely. Cant say enough about this place.
- Paul (10/5): Good for the soul - Remote and peaceful but easy drive to lots of places
- Edward (10/5): Very comfortable & atmospheric, lovely location and a warm welcome - We stayed in the Old Coach House which was very impressive and atmospheric - very cosy with exposed beams, comfy double bed, excellent and spotless en-suite facilities, very smart and well equipped self catering kitchenette at one end with fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery and a range of tea/coffee making supplies and other basics were provided. We wanted for nothing! We got a very warm welcome from the owners and their family - not forgetting a very enthusiastic welcome from their pet donkey! The surrounding gardens were lovely and the owners kindly invited us to enjoy them during our stay. Overall it was a most memorable stay and we very much hope to repeat our visit in the near future. Can’t think of anything - it was all very good/excellent

- Wendy (10/5): A lovely peaceful relaxing break, just what the doctor ordered !!! - Fell in love with the place as soon as we arrived, such a lovely location and very friendly welcoming hosts. Stayed in the Coach House which was just so cute and cosy . It’s been done out very tastefully with lots of lovely little finishing touches……
Unfortunately it rained during our stay so didn’t get the chance to appreciate the lovely garden areas . Would definitely recommend it and hopefully we will return again soon 😊 The weather could have been better 🤣
Going for a meal at The Old Station House that is just up the road from The Old Rectory.
Would definitely recommend staying clear of the place. Food was disgusting and attitude of the staff was just as bad……..
- John (10/5): Family holiday - Everything. Amy and the family met us on arrival. Booked 2 rooms for our family holiday. We used our large apartment as the base retiring to our own rooms at the end of the evening. Thank you for the eggs, milk and lovely bottle of wine. A perfect few days away. N/A
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (8/5): Lovely quiet rural retreat - Delightfully set in garden, with turkey, peahen and donkey. Compact but we’ll equipped kitchen Access via steep external stairs would be difficult for elderly guests or those with heavy luggage.

The accommodation is compact, but the facilities are very cleverly integrated to make full use of the space whilst all fittings and appliances are to a high standard. A delightful stay with perfect hosts, despite the Devon rain!
