• Julia (10/5): - Most lovely and welcoming family! Especially, I had fun playing with their daughter and they also have a super cute baby. The rooms are quite basic, but comfortable. I also rented a bike, had dinner there, took the cooking class and booked the elefant safari with them. It's super close to sigirya rock and surrounded by lush fields. I really recommend this homestay! You feel like part of the family and its perfect for a few relaxing days in the countryside. This was my favourite accommodation in Srilanka! There was a power shortage in the whole village for an afternoon, but thats not their fault The breakfast could be improved with more fruits

• Jean Pierre (10/5): Bon séjour à Sigiria - L'emplacement était très bien. Pas trop près de la route et des commerces et surtout pas trop loin. Un bon confort avec salle de bain privatif. Le gros plus c'est l'accueil, la disponibilité des hôtes et surtout l'excellente cuisine préparée sur place devant nous. Nos hôtes nous ont proposé de nous faire le trajet de Sigirira à Kandy avec de petits arrêts sur le trajet pour de bonnes visites. Nous conseillons fortement ce logement. Tout a été parfait

But only thing which bothered me was, since i was solo and there was no one else at the stay. Got a lil scared and had to sleep with lights on.

• Patrice (10/5): One of our favourite Lanka stays - The family is so welcoming. Really feels like a home that you are part of. Cooks great food on site and we had a very fun and affordable elephant safari. Mother also does cooking classes around the corner and this you can taste at your dinner. The garden is very chill and the hammock also. Location is within walking distance of restaurants and tuktuks and both rocks but still nicely tucked away. One of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka. Room is basic but has everything you need and the bed is good. Hot water, ac, mosquito net, fan. Loved it here

La habitación tenía muchísimas humedades, te sientes encerrado con un olor bastante fuerte y el colchón la verdad no es nada nada cómodo. La mosquitera de la cama incluso estaba pegada con tiritas. Por el precio que pagas no puedes pedir más pero no creo que sea un alojamiento que cualquier persona vaya a estar cómoda.

• Katrin (10/5): - Clean homestay and a lovely family. Yes, there are bugs—but hey, that's how it is in the jungle. Good breakfast and very tasty dinner. Cooking classes are also offered. I met a few girls in Sigiriya and the hosts organized an elephant safari for us. On the day of our departure, the host himself drove us to Kandy, with a stopover in Dambulla. 👍

• Michel (10/5): - Die Unterkunft hat ein unschlagbares Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Wir wurden überall auf Sri Lanka sehr nett empfangen aber hier besonders herzlich. Die Gastgeberin hat uns auch zu sehr günstigen Preisen Essen gemacht. Nachdem Essen haben wir noch mit der gesamten Familie und vor allem ihrer 10 jährigen Tochter Carrom gespielt. Die Zimmer sind absolut ausreichend für alle, die keinen besonderen Extras brauchen. Man hat ein großes Bett, genügend Ablagflächen, ein eigenes Bad und eine Klimaanlage. Wer also eine günstige Unterkunft mit äußerst lieben Gastgebern sucht, ist hier richtig.

• Amit (5/5): Great location and friendly staff, though some cleanliness issues and the Tuk-Tuk price were a bit disappointing. - The location was great, breakfast was decent for the price, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming! The bedsheet could have been cleaner and there were quite a few flying ants. Initially there was no mosquito net, but once we asked, they kindly provided one. The Tuk-Tuk service was convenient, but I personally found the price (2500 LKR for a return trip to Pidurangala Rock) a bit higher compared to PickMe.
• Alexandra (10/5): - Sehr, sehr freundliche Gastgeberin samt Mutter und Schwester, die zu Besuch waren. Leckeres srilankisches Frühstück. Abendessen auch sehr gut. Wir haben einen Kochkurs mitgemacht, der sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat und leckeres Essen gab es dann natürlich auch. Die Lage ist etwas abseits der Hauptstraße, wodurch es ruhig ist. Zur Hauptstraße mit den anderen Restaurants und Läden kann man aber gut zu Fuß gehen. Die Gastgeberinnen waren bei der Organisation der Ausflüge und auch sonst jederzeit behilflich. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit und eines ohne Klimaanlage. Dies macht sich natürlich bei der Zimmertemperatur bemerkbar. Strom und Wasser funktionierte bei uns zu jeder Zeit. Die Terrasse vor dem Haus ist sehr schön.

My room was clean and it was so nice to finally have a shower with great pressure. Best homestay I’ve experienced so far during my two weeks in Sri Lanka. Don’t turn down the breakfast they offer it’s delicious and huge! Also the best wifi I’ve experienced during my 3 month trip. Nothing.

La ragazza che gestisce la guesthouse è estremamente gentile e accogliente, e fin da subito ci ha fatte sentire come a casa. Sono davvero persone fantastiche. La posizione è in una zona molto tranquilla, un po’ distante dal centro, ma facilmente raggiungibile a piedi. La camera era pulitissima e confortevole, con un letto comodissimo dotato di zanzariera. La colazione, cucinata sul momento, comprendeva piatti locali come riso al latte con cocco, riso con samba, tè e banane. Ci è piaciuto moltissimo fare colazione nel giardino della guesthouse, in compagnia della ragazza che la gestisce, della madre e della figlia: persone splendide. La bambina è una bimba sempre sorridente e dolcissima, che ci ha portato il tè. La loro accoglienza, i sorrisi e la semplicità del loro vivere ci rimarranno nel cuore. Grazie di cuore per l’ospitalità: speriamo di rivederci presto!
• Lea (9/5): Séjour agréable avec une hôte très accueillante - Tout, la gentillesse de l’hôte, son sourire, le lieu est un peu éloigné du centre ce qui ramène du calme. Nous avons pris le dîner, c’était très copieux et très bon nous avons beaucoup apprécié ! La location de vélo n’était pas accessible mais nous avons trouvé un autre endroit pour en louer. Et attention, notre chambre n’était pas équipée en Clim (c’est de notre faute nous n’avions pas vu au moment de la réservation) nous avons regretté car il faisait très chaud !

We had nothing to cover ourselves with. It was very stuffy inside, and we were not allowed to open the door because we were afraid of the animals around. We didn't have towels, a small frog jumped out of the drain in the sink when I turned on the water. It was a very ugly experience, if we hadn't arrived late at night, we wouldn't have stayed there.

• Sorrell (10/5): - Beautiful stay in Chanaka Holiday Inn. The owners are lovely, we ate in their restaurant for dinner twice which was a really good affordable meal (about £1.50 each) for lots of different curries. Chanaka took us to Pidurangala rock in his tuk tuk and waited for us to hike during sunrise and then took us home. Short walk (10 mins) to the Main Street and located super close by to Kayanwala lake. Thank you for having us xx

Il fait assez chaud dans la chambre mais il y a un ventilateur. Vous pouvez manger sur place, c'est très bon ! Vous pouvez louer des vélos sur place (pratique et sympa a faire), et la hôte nous a arrangé notre sortie pour le Safari. Encore un grand merci !

The WiFi did not work in the bedroom only public area, it stopped working all together by our second night.

• Laia (5/5): No repetiríamos pero personal amable - Personal amable , nos guardaron la maleta durante todo el día y relación calidad precio pues más o menos . No tenías nada cerca, 100% había que coger tuktuk, llegamos y no había sábanas, no había papel de baño, no habían toallas de baño tampoco… no sé, nos sorprendió porque en Sri Lanka habíamos cogido todos los alojamientos a un precio de 5€ x noche y ninguna había sido tan precario. Del centro estaba a unos 15 min en tuktuk y ahí al no haber pick me los trayectos te los cobran caro. Pero bueno, el personal era amable. Además tienen como un huerto delante y por la mañana a las 7am nos despertaron porque se estaba haciendo mucho ruido.

• Maurice (5/5): - Kommunikation auf Englisch ist nicht ganz so einfach gewesen, aber am Ende irgendwie machbar. Alle drei waren extrem freundlich und haben sich auch um meine Freundin gesorgt, die leider etwas krank war. Frühstück war mehr als ausreichend und war typisch Sri Lankanisch. Man kann vor Ort auch Mittagessen und Abendessen. Am ersten Tag haben wir nichts Warmes getrunken. Es gab dann an Tag zwei und Tag drei etwas kaltes zu trinken für uns. Fanden wir sehr nett. Sie haben außerdem eine sehr süße Katze. Klimaanlage funktioniert. Ist aber direkt auf das Bett gerichtet, also für Leute die schnell krank werden also nicht so gut. Wir haben eine Schüssel zum Wäsche waschen bekommen. Safari Tour konnte auch über die Unterkunft gebucht werden. Bettlaken war dreckig. Haben dann eine große Decke von uns darüber gelegt. Der Strom und das Wasser ist mehrmals ausgefallen. War natürlich praktisch, wenn man gerade am Zähne putzen ist und danach kein Wasser mehr hat oder man in der Nacht nicht abspülen kann. Zimmer war auf dem Boden voller Tiere. Badezimmer hat ein offenes „Fenster“ ohne Mückennetz worüber Tiere reinkommen können. Hatten dann mehrere Riesenameisen, einen Frosch und einen Gecko zu Besuch. WLAN funktionierte bei uns im Zimmer überhaupt nicht. Wir waren in dem ersten Zimmer von allen. Draußen auf der Terasse funktionierte das WLAN aber gut. Tisch draußen an dem man frühstückt wird glaube ich auch nie abgeputzt. Ich wollte zum Pindurangala Rock laufen, aber mir wurde angeboten mich zu fahren, da man sowieso in die Stadt müsste. Als ich dann am Rock abgesetzt wurde wurde mir auch noch gesagt, dass ich schreiben soll, wenn ich fertig bin um abgeholt zu werden. Ich bedankte mich vielmals für die Gastfreundlichkeit. Es war bislang nie die Rede davon, dass das kosten würde, da ich ansonsten gelaufen wäre bzw. auch eigentlich ja laufen wollte. Als wir abgereist sind kam dann die Rechnung, dass ich die TukTuk Fahrten bezahlen musste. Nach langem hin und her habe ich dann eine Fahrt zumindest bezahlt. Können die ganzen guten Bewertungen hier nicht so ganz verstehen.
• Ashley (9/5): Lovely staff, super value - The place is run by a lovely woman. As she was pregnant when I visited, meals were not available every day - however the place is located a few minutes' walk from the main road where there are several restaurant options. I did have one dinner and breakfast at Chanaka Holiday Inn that were delicious and affordable. The lady helped organise a tuk-tuk driver (Kumara) who took me to Pidurangala for sunrise, then Sigiriya, and then around the sites at Polonnaruwa for the whole day at a fair price. He was very friendly and knew the places well. The room is very simple but also priced accordingly - overall it was great value!

• Guest (3/5): Дополнительную необоснованную оплату взымают и волос в блинах! - Переночевать чисто на одну ночь норм, но забронировали на Букинге двухместный номер, с нас на месте ещё взяли доплату, якобы за второго человека. Понятно, что за невысокую цену ожидать чего то большего не стоит, но выбирали по отзывам вроде были неплохие. Завтрак оставлял желать лучшего, мы конечно не привередничаем, но в блинах попался смачный волос, показали это хозяйке, на что извинений и замены не последовало, а завтрак мы вообще-то оплатили отдельно! Кроме 4 блинов была тарелка просто нарезанного хлеба и тарелка фруктов 4 маленьких банана, несколько кусочков несладкого арбуза, папайи и чай. Гостевой дом находится в стороне от дороги, вечером дорога до отеля не освещается, хорошо мы были на трансфере нас довезли. Единственный плюс красивая терраса утопающая в зелени. Волос в блинах, необоснованная доплата за номер.

• Jamie (9/5): Had an amazing stay at Chanaka! - The service was outstanding! The host was super welcoming and friendly. The property is in a quiet location away from the centre however you can walk it in 20 minutes. Breakfast was included which gives us the opportunity to try traditional Sri Lankan food. Would 100% recommend staying here!

• Lidia (10/5): Perfect stay!!! - We only got to stay 1 night because we had booked something else already, but we wish we could have stay here the all time. The room is clean, the bathroom is new, clean and has strong hot water. Air conditioning and fan worked perfectly, there was a drying rack in the room and a mosquito net. The garden and propriety is beautiful and clean. The location is a short walk from main road and a very cute neighborhood. It’s a close walk to the lake viewpoint. The host will cook meals for you that were delicious. After our 2 days here we can tell that was one of the best meal we had. The host give us a ride to our destination for free. There were hospitable, smiley and sweet. We regret not staying with them longer.

• Luca (9/5): Cibo delizioso e cordialità - Struttura carina immersa nel verde di Sigirya, gli host sono stati veramente accoglienti e ci hanno fatto sentire a casa fin da subito. Su richiesta ci hanno preparato i pasti principali (colazione, pranzo e cena) a prezzi onesti e ci hanno aiutato con i vari spostamenti tramite tuk tuk. Il cibo era veramente fantastico, uno dei miglior riso e curry mai provato, inoltre la frutta era raccolta direttamente dai loro alberi. Camera un po’ rustica e la struttura si trova in una strada sterrata e di notte completamente buia, è necessaria una torcia per spostarsi.

• Empar (5/5): Estancia calurosa en Sigiriya - La ubicación genial! Cerca de restaurantes, tiendas, carretera principal... bien ubicado y buen precio. Reservé una habitación sin aire acondicionado y el ventilador no era suficiente. Mejor reservad con AC.

• Alvaro (10/5): Great staying in Sigiriya - The ladies that run the place are super nice, always with a smile in the face. The garden was very beautiful and the breakfast was very good too. The room was very hot and the fan was not working very well, they have A/C but you need to pay a bit extra. I definitely recommend to pay extra, if you do so then is very good hehe.

• emmanuel (10/5): - On a tellement aimé venir chez Saku, qu'on est revenu passer 3 jours avec elle après notre tour du Sri-Lanka! Faire du vélo autour des lacs aux alentours qui offrent des vues superbes sur le rocher du lion et les montagnes alentours...et même pédaler jusqu'à Kaludiya Pokuna qui est un site archéologique remarquable. Puis une baignade dans Kandalama lake ou avec les familles dans Thalkote lake... On a vraiment aimé passer du temps à rire avec Saku et préparer la cuisine ensemble! On la gardera toujours dans notre cœur! ❤
• Fiona (10/5): PERFECT budget accommodation!!! - WOW! We were blown away by this little place - it was so cute tucked away in the greenery! The family that run this place are just SO LOVELY! Some of the nicest people we have met in Sri Lanka so far 🫶🏼 honestly so so genuine and welcoming! The breakfast was delicious! The room was spacious, big bathroom with hot water and the AC worked really well! For the price this place is a hidden gem - we are budget backpackers & this was a dream for us! Nothing everything was perfect!!!
