Guest Reviews
- Mary (10/5): We had a great time! - Clean , lovely staff, good onset and very good food. It was a bus ride from the centre of town, but it didn’t matter.
- Novi puspitasari (9/5): Unforgetable Amazing Ryokan Experience - It is exactly as pictured in the website. Very clean, relaxing and organised. Staff are warm and very kind. Dinner and breakfast are excellent, work of art. Nothing
- Pavel (8/5): Good value for money - The food was great The beds and the location
- David (10/5): A beautiful ryokan with traditional character but modern amenities! - The property is and elegant, highly appointed ryokan with special touches of fresh flowers, antiques and paintings throughout. They have an elevator, wine and coffee machines, foot bath and several beautiful onsens. The food is magnificent served in VERY fancy dishes in your own private dining room. While the food was spectacular and fresh, portions were large and hard to finish!! The ryokan is out of town and you will need to taxi or take public transportation to get there. Staff is so friendly and accommodating but speaks no English. They are proficient at using Google translator.
- Hajar (10/5): -
- Jan (10/5): Perfect ryokan experience. - Very polite and attentive staff. Super dinner. Arranging the evening visit to the Matsumoto Castle. Private onsen. The wine-machine closed at 10 pm already.

- Milan (10/5): Unieke gastvrije belevenis in Matsumoto - Unieke ervaring in Matsumoto.

- Adar (6/5): - Perfect for those seeking a truly traditional Japanese experience- but keep in mind, it really is very traditional. The food may feel quite extreme for Western tastes, the onsens are relaxing but on the older side, and the staff’s English is limited
- Shabnam (5/5): Very outdated property, not even a bottle of water in the room! - Very outdated property, not even a bottle of water in the room!

- Diederick (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing experience. The staff is amazing, the food very good, and the (private) onsen an absolute treat. What a way to relax between cities.
- Adi (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - We loved staying in this Ryokan and it was indeed the highlight of our trip in Japan for both myself and my wife. The meals for breakfast and dinner were extravagant and delicious, although a few of the courses were too different and foreign for even my tastes! The service was exceptional, and we loved having the paying option of reserving the private onsen next door for the two of us. We actually never used the shared gendered onsens on the first floor. There are views of the mountains and they even bring late night treats in case you get hungry to your rooms! The futons and typical rooms were very nice and comfortable, and everything was beautiful! We greatly recommend it. Nothing, everything was great. Although their meals might have a couple dishes that not everyone would enjoy! But other than that, everything was excellent. There are countless dishes with every meal, so if there's ever anything you don't like, you don't have to eat it! :) They also are willing to modify their meals for vegetarians.
- Tini (9/5): Superb -
- Kacey (10/5): Wonderful and Worth It - The staff are extremely friendly and went out of their way to speak English for us. The whole place is very tidy, a calming atmosphere, quiet, and very hospitable. They supplied us with yukata and everything you would need for a stay. The onsen was delightful with clean facilities. The dinner was several courses of Japanese cuisine, and breakfast was also large. The futon beds are very cozy, but were a little uncomfortable for my 6’2 partner. We were allowed to leave our luggage while we went out for the day after check out. I have no complaints.
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect! Food was exceptional!
- Yoav (10/5): Experience a true ryokan hospitality - The onsen was amazing, the staff and the hospitality was top notch The food is truly traditional Japanese cuisine so can be a bit strange to a western audience.
That being said, breakfast was exceptionally delicious
- Jorge (5/5): Too tough schedule for vacations stay. Not brilliant location. Overrated at Booking. - Tough meals and check out schedule
- Karla (9/5): Superb -
- Noam (10/5): Exceptional - Japonaise Dinner and breakfast were awesome
- Kathy (9/5): Beautiful place with lovely staff. - All the food was delicious, and I really appreciated a Western breakfast as requested the second day. I wish we would have understood that the dinners were so extensive. The ten course meals were terrific, but it was too much food for us. Evidently most people stay a day or two. Three days of 10 course dinners was too much. But this ryokan was definitely a great adventure.
- Anne (9/5): Superb -
- Jill (9/5): An enjoyable traditional Japanese experience with attention to every detail. - Extremely helpful and friendly staff, beautiful rooms and delicious food. The private onsen (bookable for a fee) was a lovely experience. A bus is needed to reach the centre of the city but it is regular and not expensive so manageable.
- Iris (10/5): Amazing ryokan! - Amazing Ryokan! We enjoyed everything.. the pampering staff, the meals that are a work of art, the onsen.. there is no doubt that we will be back.. nothing
- Tossaton (10/5): Kind staffs, nice atmosphere, perfect ryokan experience with reasonable prices. - Hotel and staff.
- Meg (10/5): Exceptional - This Onsen Ryokan was a blissful relief after a few days in Tokyo. The room was enormous with an entry hallway, huge sleeping/living room and separate huge bathroom. The room had a big window and view, a kettle, fridge, tv, Pjs and all amenities, and the most comfortable futon bedding and doona. I got the all inclusive package and the dinner and breakfast was amazing and a highlight of my whole trip to Japan. There were multiple courses all presented in the most incredible way. The female onsen had 3 different baths including an outside one. I had it all to myself which was a luxury. There is also a little deck and Japanese garden where you can soak your tired feet in the hot mineral onsen water. It was easy to get to from the train station. I took the bus from the bus station opposite and paid cash to the bus driver as I exited the bus. When I left I took the bus to the Castle, left my luggage in the lockers, did a free guided tour of the castle and then walked a short way back to the station. Matsumoto is a lovely city to visit and I'm so glad I stayed at this Ryokan.
- Doug (10/5): Relaxing time with family, with fine food and hot springs - The service was excellent, the facilities were fine and the meals superb. That is, of course, assuming guest enjoy Japanese cuisine, are fine with futons and onsens.
- Tonglynn (8/5): Very good - The decor and feel of the place.
They have English speaking staff. Nothing.
