Guest Reviews
- Barry (10/5): A lovely canal side location - Easy to find with good parking right outside your room. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Quick and easy booking in at the bar. The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything you required. A very nice touch is a small fridge with. Orange juice and yoghurts and fruit. I had a very nice meal in the restaurant in the evening. No handles on the mugs in the room, difficult to hold when hot.
- Mandy (10/5): - Was lovely comfy room
- Lyn (10/5): -
- June (7/5): Very nice place - Lovely settings nice by the canal The broken door at the bottom with a gap that blows a gale through!

- Andrew (9/5): Comfortable and well equipped accommodation in lovely location - I had an excellent two day stay in The Lock accommodation. The room was neat, tidy and well provisioned. Good bathroom. The pub served excellent food and drink. I am walking along the Grdnd Union Canal towpath, so this was the prefect location. Thank you. The road is quite noisy but not a worry.
- Mike (8/5): Convenient location for the purpose of my Journey, parking good right outside my room, - Nice Quite warm room with Easy Control of the room Temperature I Arrived at the property quite late & was Informed at check in that there was breakfast available in the morning, because I assumed there would be hot food available & did not arrange an alternative, it would be better if the property make it clear that the restaurant was not open for breakfast, i had to travel into Weedon 10 Min Journey to a breakfast cafe where it was difficult to park my car.

- Stuart (8/5): We enjoyed it very much and looked forward to going back to the cosy accommodation after a full day - Room was very clean and warm so ideal for a November visit. Plenty of parking space. Didn't eat there because family was close by but we have eaten there in the past and the food is really good. No shower gel dispenser or hand soap dispenser
- Gary (10/5): Lovely place,& close by for a family party, hope to come and stay again. - Snacks in mini bar were adequate but a full breakfast was not available, although staff did advice a great place for breakfast(Granny's Cafe) which was excellent No big problem, but did bring to staffs attention, the Shower cut out a couple of times.
- june (10/5): Perfect - In the perfect location for us, lovely room, nice & warm, had a big family dinner in the NarrowBoat pub, staff really friendly and Jules is an excellent landlord
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Adams (10/5): Friendly and cosy perfect place to stay - Room was clean and cosy.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Food was delicious Would prefer cups with handles in the room.

- Durham (6/5): - Love it here Heating not good cold all night
- Raymondo72 (9/5): Perfect - Everything and close to Silverstone for the run fest Everything
- Luke (10/5): N/A - Lovely cosy tiny fridge enclosed with yoghurt, fruit, juice. Best ever seen. Everything else is just perfect N/A
- David (5/5): Served its purpose - Location ideal for our journey Understaffed which put too much pressure on the team
- Zoe (6/5): Pub is fabulous, staff are fabulous, rooms are ok - The pub attached was so nice, great food, amazing staff, super friendly, the rooms were decorated nicely and had a cosy feel Too noisy by the main road, the lock on my door was really flimsy and wobbly and made me a bit worried, also caused a breeze to whip through the room through the night. Window on the door reduced privacy so had to hang a coat there.
No hand soap in my bathroom
Bed was not super comfy, it was a thin metal frame and it moved away from the wall/headboard through the night
- Leanda (8/5): Lovely staff but rooms need a refresh - Staff very friendly Bathroom could do with a refresh. Broken shower tray metal quite rusty in places
- Phil (9/5): Good accommodation and pub, food average - Room, bed, pillows, shower tea making facilities were good . The bar and pub also good with a wide choice of drinks with really friendly staff. There is is also a great choice of outdoor seating overlooking the canal which would be a great spot in warmer months. We ate at the Narrowboat on our first night and found the food only ok, for me the broccoli and stilton soup came out a packet as it was thin, watery and tasteless, the mash I suspect was instant mash which is not good enough for the money charged.
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Enjoyable place to stay with lovely friendly staff - Clean and warm with heaters on The TV fluctuated and kept going off and on whilst we were trying to enjoy watching it whilst relaxing in bed but that was the only moan :-)
- Julia (6/5): - No breakfast was provided — probably our fault for not reading the details properly. The room had a tiny fridge with just an apple and a yoghurt inside. After a long drive, we were hoping to grab a sandwich or something small for lunch, but unfortunately they only served roast dinners on Sundays.
- Angela (8/5): Visiting relatives in the area a great place to stay. This is second time there - The room had a very efficient heater. Comfy bed and good shower. Breakfast was not on site but arrangements in the village a mile away. A fridge though had yogurt orange juice and an apple.
- Kelly (9/5): Really happy, thank you so much - Lovely stay, great location next to pub and canal, comfy bed and very tolerant hosts No breakfast onsite
- Philip (8/5): Nice location, reasonable price and good facilities. - Location is good, on a main road but rooms are at the back so no noise issues. Pub closes early on a Sunday, would have been nice to get a drink before bed.
- Leanne (10/5): Clean, good value for money, excellent staff - Clean, good value for money, excellent staff Clean, good value for money, excellent staff
- Elaine (8/5): -
- Parish-Mackin (9/5): Narrowboat - Great location, comfy rooms, nice and quiet. Staff were excellent! Rooms are a tiny bit tired, broken shower panel etc but nothing that caused any impact on our stay
- dean (7/5): Nice views - Views Pillows need replacing flat
- Charles (9/5): Very good find - Really nice place excellent for our needs
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Zenon (10/5): -
- Pamela (9/5): - Lovely room. Great good. And the staff were great too. Enjoyed our stay.
- Andree (7/5): - The location - we were meeting up with family, who were on a narrowboat on the nearby canal.
Our host was very welcoming, and the pub garden was lovely to be in as we were lucky enough to have good weather. We didn't enjoy a good night's sleep because the duvet was too hot, and if we threw it off, we were too cold! As we were only staying for one night, there was nothing we could do about it, so we just took it on the chin.
- Claire (8/5): Very good value for money - Easy check in (at the pub). Comfortable accommodation. Great shower. Parking just outside the door. Great affordable food at the pub. Lovely walk along the canal on the doorstep. Very friendly staff.
- Karen (9/5): Comfortable bed and excellent pub grub, lovely staff - Lovely pub meal
Friendly helpful staff
Comfortable bed No breakfast available
Tv very small
- eveline (9/5): Good value all round - We had already eaten at other venue with friends. Breakfast was not available so eat out at Grannys Cafe down the road.very good. Room was very good . we did not have any negatives.
- Nigel (7/5): - Fantastic location on the canal with a lot of outside seating. Rooms are perfectly fine. There is no breakfast served in the pub. Place was very quiet and lacked atmosphere on this occasion.
- Durham (10/5): -
- lynda (9/5): -
- Lynda (8/5): - Food was excellent. Staff very helpful. Location quiet considering it is on the A5. Cool box snack breakfast a nice touch. Room was hot as no safe small window to open for nighttime ventilation.
- Patrick (7/5): Goed om door te reizen - Toffe locatie Slecht bed
- Nicholas (9/5): I would stay again. - Great location at the back of a lovely pub. The room is a little dated but quiet, clean & has everything you need. I would stay again. Not a lot, the furniture is a little dated & worn & the TV is tiny but overall great value.
- guy (9/5): -
- Kenneth (8/5): Need a car. - Nice chalet style accommodation in a pleasant rural pub setting overlooking the canal and fields beyond. Nice restaurant serving quality food. A bit remote if you don't have a car and on a busy A road so quite a lot of traffic noise while in the pub garden (although not in the rooms) which is always off-putting for me.
The pub itself could do with some smartening up externally but inside it's fine.
- Wendell (8/5): A very minor grumble - My only minor grumble is for a larger TV in the room. Everything else was great
- Takako (10/5): Nice place to stay. - The bed was firm and comfortable, the place was nice, clean, and quiet. The room had a plenty of space. We had a great stay. Nothing.
- Emma (9/5): - Staff were lovely and helpful. Mini fridge in room had apples, yogurts and orange juice in which was included in the price. Excellent for an early departure. I was at a car show about 20 minutes away so this was perfect. Parking right outside my room and able to push the keys through the letterbox for leaving early. Great little spot, very scenic. There isn't much to not like. There were a few spiders in the room and it was a little stuffy in there at times but all windows opened and the stable style door was nice to let air in.
- Haigh (9/5): Lovely canal side location - Lovely location right on the side of the canal.
Comfortable bed with complimentary toiletries & a hairdryer too.
Great food served in the pub too. Couldn't really fault anything.
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - Clean , private and quiet No lroning board or lron
- White (7/5): Good -
- Simon (8/5): Will stay again - No Breakfast, but little fridge with biscuits and yoghurt and juice...nice surprise
Jasmine and the bar staff super friendly and efficient No soap holder in the shower
- Anna (10/5): - A wonderful gem in a stunning location. The pub is great, the accommodation comfortable and good value. The food we had was lovely from a menu with good variety.
The owners and staff were friendly and helpful.
Very happy to recommend
- Michele (10/5): Charming place to stay. - We stayed one night and found the manager and staff very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and would definitely stay again
- Debbie (10/5): enjoyable and booked again - Staff very accomodating and helpful, food really good and service excellent nothing not to like
- Robert (7/5): Okay for overnight - We had own chalet thing. Parking outside door if others did park stupidly. Marked bays for each would be good .Quiet at night. Easy check in. Canal next to it good for walk Tiny TV. Bit drainy on hot day. Couldn’t securely leave windows open. Missed grout on bathroom tiles
- Viv (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place to stay
Loved our room
Had dinner and breakfast yum!
Staff were so lovely
Thank you We liked it all.
- Edward (8/5): Very good - Nice place, Sent message asking for 1pm checking, no reply, when arriving the women said we cannot
Check in til 2.30pm although the rooms were ready, but if we paid an extra 10 quid we can, Not very hospitable at all SHE NEED A BETTER ATTITUDE, IF SHE WHAT TO REMAIN IN HOSPITALITY.
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Neville_munson (8/5): Very good -
- Annette (7/5): Good - Location great
Room clean
Parking good Bar food required
Bigger tv in room The Barge requires
Mugs with handles defo required
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (8/5): Really nice stay will deffo stay again - Was nice staff friendly and also we came late and had no issues Clean tv could of been bigger but shower was hot and strong so was a locket stay. Food was amazing as well
- Robert (3/5): Cheap and not so cheerful. - Not so much. Door to the property was broken, didn’t fit in the door frame. Leading to lots of noise.
A5 is a busy road and you feel that inside the property
- Peter (7/5): Good - Pleasant and comfortable. Didn’t have much in room facilities. No mini fridge. So we had to discard a few items that we had with us. Cute little playground. Descent pub on the grounds
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Phil (5/5): Not as good as predicited - shower was ok Food options were limited
The drinks were expensive
The TV in the room was the smallest i have ever had to watch
- Monette (7/5): Good - Beautiful garden and outdoor deck area - nice view Restaurant hours posted though not very welcoming if you walk in without a reso - not busy so I guess they only arrange staff when there's a reso for breakfast. Came in for lunch and couldn't sit in the nicer sunny room even though Restaurant was empty for a reso that was going to come in for the room. When we left after lunch the room was still empty.
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Waited a very long time to be served breakfast
- Quentin (9/5): Superb -
- Brooke (5/5): Disappointed of Cheshire - The outside location by the canal nowas very nice My wife needed functional internet for her work commitments and it wasn't available. She had to do something with her mobile phone!!
- Robert (8/5): Superb food - Food was amazing. Room was basic which is what I expected It was all good
- Alan (7/5): Nice place to stay. - Nice clean rooms in a pleasant part of the world, nice pub etc Was disappointed to discover the food last orders was 6pm and the last orders for drinks 7.30pm and then pub closing shortly after although to be fair had I checked I’d have known I just took it for granted the pub would shut at the usual time for pubs.
Breakfast was OK but needs to be a better quality really if I’m honest.
- Steve (8/5): Ok - It was directly on my route and in the main road The shower didn’t work after my wife had showered in the morning which was apparently down to where the shower head was positioned. If this is a common occurrence then put a sign up!
- Michael (8/5): Nice overnight stay with one reservation - Liked every except the breakfast
9.00 is a bit short for a cut off time
The options were all cooked breakfasts
My choice of simple breakfast cost 6.50 fine but coffee ( not mentioned on the bill) doubled the bill to over £14, not excessive but not stated needs review!
But repeat the stay was very restful nice meal and staff attentive See above
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (8/5): - We arrived at 17:45 on the Sunday, to find that the kitchen closed at 18:00. We had just walked 14 miles as part of our Grand Union Canal walk for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The staff were very accommodating and we were well fed!
The shock was when we received the receipt for the meals and a few beers and a 10% service charge had been added. We were not asked whether we wanted to pay that. Given the circumstances, we would probably have agreed to it, but it would have been nice to be asked.
- Till (10/5): Will definitely stay again when I’m working this way again - Great location, helpful and friendly staff, great ale and the food was excellent Nothing , it was just what right for our purpose
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Lovely pub garden and beautiful canal walks, stayed to be close to a friends house, reasonable price for the self contained rooms
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - Very friendly helpful staff.
