Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (9/5): Excellent accommodation - Accommodation was excellent.Clean, great standard, very happy. Nothing!
- Geraldine (10/5): Restful and relaxing but close to Ennis and Limerick which are just short drive away - It was a really quiet area.... no cars even as they were parked in car park. House was very comfortable and everything you could want. The house was clean and comfortable. We had a lovely stay in Bunratty Castle Gardens. We would very highly recommend it. No. 17 was perfect. Everything was perfect for us. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed it so much.
- ANNE (7/5): The property was good value , the photos were accurate. -
- Dana (10/5): Had a wonderful stay in Bunratty - Not applicable Nothing, it was perfect
- Emma jane (7/5): -
- Elisabeth (7/5): -
- SEAN (10/5): The house was updated and spotless, with high quality bedding and towels. - T Having to park in a lot instead of at the house.
- Mandy (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): Great base for trips around Clare and Limerick. Easy walk to a number of pub/restaurants too! - Absolutely gorgeous house, very comfortable and well appointed. Couldn't fault it. Nothing to note
- Karey (10/5): Loved it - First time staying in the gardens, would definitely stay again. House was immaculate and had everything we needed. The beds are brilliant. Communication with the host was 10/10 from the time of booking The gardens seemed to be a mix between guest and residents some of which where racing electric cars and the paths during the night. Didn't bother us but I imagine might others
- Patricia (9/5): Pleasant stay in Bunratty - Very comfortable, clean accommodations. Grateful that all 3 bedrooms were ensuite. Also, glad one bedroom was on the ground floor. Heating Temperature control was not available but that was not needed during our stay. Met Property Manager on the grounds. Property is within walking distance to several restaurants and Bunratty Castle and Village. Small refrigerator no freezer
- Jenner (10/5): Excellent location, spotlessly clean, wonderful comfy beds. - Fantastic location short walk to Castle, folk park, bars and restaurants. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds. 3 en-suite bedrooms. Lovely private outside garden. Only gripe is no freezer section in fridge or ice compartment.
- Edwin (8/5): Overall a pleasant stay and good value. - Very nice property located close to Shannan airport. V good communication with hosts and on several occasions that I texted hosts I received a reply straight away. Bedrooms were a good size with ensuite bathrooms and the beds were very comfortable. The hot water tap in bathroom was loose and kept dripping (taps need replacing). Dishwasher door could not be opened as it was too close to the kitchen cabinet door, had to move dishwasher slightly to open the door.
Quartier sinistre.
- Anthony (8/5): Initially apprehensive about check-in from late flight from Manchester. Would have been useful to know that self check-i - Location, close to Shannon Airport and buses Not totally clear how the hot water system worked although not a problem for our brief stay.
- David (10/5): - Pet friendly
- Louise (6/5): Sehr funktionales Ferienhaus in praktischer Lage. Insgesamt sieht man überall starke Gebrauchsspuren.
- rosemary (7/5): - Very basic inside and out but very clean.. some of the light switches wasn’t working, needed more toilet roll… over all good Bit more colour, very basic and dull… but overall good
- Suzanne (1/5): -
- David (1/5): Disappointing - The location The house in general was very run down. On arrival the smell and appearance was disappointing. Example the curtains were dirty and table was was mouldy and in general its looks like a feels like a cheap old house. The headrest for the beds need to be thrown out as the pieces were falling off. The showers upstairs are not working and the shower downstairs works but you need to be very petite. With the money we spent there for the two nights im sure the property owner could update it. Everyone needs a break from life and we are no different. We work hard and were so looking forward to this trip away. In our opinion the house is not worth it. The location is great but spend a little even on the lampshades and cushions. We all need a little pampering in our lives but definitely the house is lacking in all departments. Never again will we stay there or recommend it
- Kelly (8/5): - Loved the location and clean, quiet property The beds are not at all comfortable
- Anne-Marie (8/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Pauline (5/5): Great location house needs a deep clean - Location and garden Not very clean smell of dog in the bedroom downstairs when I pulled out the stool at desk dog hairs on skirting and carpet, not enough toilet rolls or towels . Couldn't help with luggage storage for 2\3 hrs or late checkout when one of the kids ended up in hospital thought this waa a poor service
- DONNA (2/5): Very disappointing - It was old and worn like a student accommodation I stayed in about 25 years ago, carpets worn, noise from pipes when you turned on water, toilet & shower downstairs old, no private fence outside like it shows in pictures, smell of damp in house Location
- Natalia (9/5): Było super - Lokalizacja, rozmiar domu, wszystkie potrzebne sprzęty Łazienki wymagają odświeżenia
- Helena (8/5): -
- Philippe (10/5): Très agréable séjour au calme. - Tout. Rien.
- Sinead (10/5): So enjoyable and made lots of memories - Prefect location
Walking distance to pubs restaurants shops Heating coming on and we did not need it
Very very hot
A few new blinds and head boards needed
- Glenda (9/5): - Great location in bunratty and a 15 min drive to limerick .brilliant that we could bring our dog too.very clean n beds comfortable
- Deirdre (5/5): visit to bunratty - it was near bunratty castle + a few pubs. the house was old . windows u could barley open. note left for us before leaving strip the beds .I.thought that was the cleaners job. the handle on the porch door was off the hinges. the plug for the toaster was cracked. we won't be staying there again. it wasn't worth the price for the two nights.
- Oksana (10/5): -
- Luca (9/5): -
- Teillard (3/5): Disappointed - Great location, very central to Bunratty Not so clean, very dusty. Had to pay additional 80 euros to bring dogs which could only be paid in cash.
- Annabelle (8/5): Good location, close to airport and sights. Walking distance from the village. - Lots of bathrooms - very clean. No information at all on the area
- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous house, fabulous location. Would highly recommend. - The property was stunning. The photos advertising it didn’t do it justice. Liked everything.
- Lindsey (6/5): Rock hard beds and run down - Location to bunratty castle was great The beds especially the double and single bed downstairs was rock hard and could feel the springs in the mattress. Asked for a mattress topper but was advised as none available and told to switch to another bed.
Shower head was broken in main bathroom and the shower was very tight. Had trouble bending down to pick anything up from the shower tray.
Broken tiles in the hallway. Heating was set on a timer for some reason.
No dryer - this was advertised on booking.com which was a deal breaker for us. So was disappointed this wasn't supplied, was also advertised on another website that there was a dryer.
Ants in the kitchen by the bin. Hob all rusted as well as frying pan.
Couch was very uncomfortable and had metal bar by knees so hard to get out of when sitting.
Generally needs a big upgrade.
- Elaine (8/5): - Location is ideal as within walking distance, House wasn't what i expected,
- Suzanne (8/5): -
- Helene (9/5): -
- Paula (6/5): - The house was well-equipped and spacious 3 fine sized bedrooms two ensuite. Beds were comfortable and location was ideal walking distance to Bunratty Castle and as a base to tour west Clare. The exterior of many of the houses looked in need of paintwork not a great first impression.House was overall very comfortable but windows and blinds in need of repair/replacement.
- Ivan (8/5): -
- Mccormack (10/5): Very enjoyable location perfect -
- Annemarie (10/5): Fantastisk område masser at se og opleve. Gode spisesteder tæt på. - Dejligt roligt sted til skøn afslapning
- Yusuf (9/5): -
- katrina (3/5): Will not return - The location The shower in one of the upstairs bathrooms was leaking down onto the table whilst having dinner. The beds were not comfortable at all. The bathroom taps kept leaking. The whole house is in need of a complete upgrade. No lights over back or front door. The pictures in the booking is not the house we were in. Also I think the additional charge for the dogs of €80 was bit much as they wasn't even as much as an enclosed garden as per the picture or a simple water dish for them. I have stayed in holiday homes before with my two little dogs and no additional fees were charged. The fact it had to be paid in cash on arrival was also strange. The only positive outcome of this trip was the lady that met us at the house was super friendly. Unfortunately myself or my family will not be returning and would advise against it for other family or friends asking us. Didn't think it was worth the money to be honest. The area in which these houses are in is in need of a upgrade all round.
- CUEFF (8/5): -
- Wade (6/5): Inside the apartment and aptio was clean and very comfortable. Location was not perfecyt. - Poor communication on key code caused some unneeded stress and discomfort
- Nicole Coughlan (5/5): - Beautiful village, good location and accommodation was reasonably clean .... My son was bitten by a dog that lives in 1 of the houses and ended up in A&E
- Paul (6/5): - Close to Shannon. Also the village. The property was situated close to a derelict hotel. The house although only used for sleeping in needs a total upgrade.
Noisy pumps and loose taps in bathrooms.

- kath6969 (10/5): Lovely stay in lovely area - The area
- Kath (10/5): We lived Iike princesses for three nights, such a beautiful home with a castle in the backyard. - The decor is contemporary and comfortable. Everything you need is there. The beds were very comfortable and each bedroom had an ensuite- such a luxury.
We could walk to restaurants and pubs for great meals. The castle gardens were a great place to walk. We recommend this home- you will feel like princesses. All good
- John (9/5): Very enjoyable and in a great location. Handy for buses to Limerick, Shannon and Ennis - Nice house. Good ensuite rooms and lovely outdoor area Missed a freezer compartment in the fridge but, otherwise, a well equipped kitchen
- Harold (10/5): We would stay here again in a heartbeat! - This property is very Well-appointed, comfortable and immaculately clean.
Dean Gearing, the owner, has made substantial investments to ensure this 3 bedroom 3 bathroom cottage is the best!
Ebby, the Manager, was immediately responsive to our questions.
This is the finest property in which we have ever stayed using booking.com.
Our compliments to all! No negative comments whatsoever
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for days trips of West Coast of Ireland. Close to Cliffs of Moher, Ennis, Limerick, and Galway.
JP Clarkes and Creamery Bar had good food, drinks, and Irish music. Bunratty Castle was fun to tour. Shopping is about 2 blocks away.
The property manager, Ebby, did check in to make sure all was well and give appreciated travel advice. Parking was free, but a short walk to the designated parking area. Otherwise, no complaints.
- Justine (10/5): Clean, comfortable, great location. - Location was great, walking distance to Durty Nellie's and several food options. Castle and shops all walking distance, too.
There were 3 of us and 3 double bedrooms with en-suites, all of equally good standard, so no 'best/worse' room discussion. The kitchen looked well equipped, although we didn't cook there looked to be everything you'd need if self catering, even a slimline dishwasher. The whole house was spotless, and bed linens and towels were good quality and comfortable.
- Maggie (10/5): A quaint, well-appointed holiday home near excellent eateries. - The property suited our family of 6 perfectly. The house was well appointed with regard to decor and functionality. A few steps above your typical Irish holiday home! Holiday decor was a wonderful, unexpected touch. Would have loved a long handled brush for cleaning up and maybe a few more mixing size bowls in the kitchen.
- AUDRIUS (10/5): -
- Renee (10/5): Location is fab and beautiful accommodations! - Beautiful - great for our group (2 couples) LOVED we had privacy but could gather in living room and dining room. GREAT location - would stay again!
- BARRY (7/5): -
- Federico (6/5): - Proximity to the village. Cleanness. The structure and the area needs a refresher.
- Joan (10/5): I would highly recommend this Holiday House to any traveler, and would go back again. - Breakfast not included but that is okay. It was self catering and plenty of places around for breakfast. Host gave code for key lock box and it was very easy to use.
The house is beautiful, very well decorated, beautiful furniture and everything you could possibly need in a holiday home,
It was quite obvious that this host takes pride in the home. Beds were fab, bedding and towels were immaculate. The house itself was extremely clean. There was a support person on site if we needed anything.
While there was facilities such as oven, washing machine etc, we had not used them,.
The area is on doorstep of Bunratty Castle and folk Park which is a place that's very well worth visiting, and beautiful restaurants/bars. JP Cl;arks, is well worth a visit as is the Creamery and Durty nellies.
It's hours drive to Galway and Hours drive to Doolan Cliffs of Moher, and both are well worth a visit.
Great area for exploring that side of the country. Can't think of anything negative to say.
- Sylvia (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Excellent location, lovely house, great value for money - Good location, bus stop nearby.Good choice of restaurants and pubs nearby. House was lovely, everything we needed and big garden with furniture to sit out. Beds very comfortable, en suite bathroom in each bedroom. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of storage space in each bedroom. Castle within walking distance and an excellent day out.We were also able to gain access to the house at 9 am on the morning we arrived as our flight was changed from lunchtime to early morning. Nothing
- Graham (10/5): -
- Zsuzsa (8/5): Kiváló a hely csillagtúrához.
- Piroska (9/5): -
- SarahJ2904 (8/5): Nice house, good location, but overpriced. - The house was close to the motor way, so travel was easy, and we could walk to Bunratty Village within 2 minutes. The house was comfortable, had all the amenities listed in the description. The garden wasn't secure and our dog was able to run straight into the road, so we couldn't enjoy that feature. Not safe for pets of young children. Plug sockets in the bedroom didn't work. The light in the downstairs bedroom broke on day 2, we tried buying a new bulb but it still wouldn't work. The bedside lamps then also stopped working, I believe there's an electrical wiring problem in the house. The downstairs shower was tiny and difficult to use, and the water pressure was poor. There were dirty plates and bowls in the kitchen cupboards, and the kitchen counter top had dents and chunks missing. The TV had very few channels available, not that we used it much, but we had to stream on our phones because there was little choice.
- Claire (9/5): -
- Barrett (8/5): Very enjoyable. - Comfy, Dogs allowed. Very quiet area. Great location. Very helpful and friendly hosts. TV very small.
- Sheila (7/5): Great location for travelling but needs modernisation. - Great location for travelling either to limerick or Ennis or visiting Bunratty Castle. Easy check in and check out. It was handy having toilet and shower for each room if a bit outdated. Kitchen had all equipment and utensils that were needed. Good few pubs nearby so eating out no problem. House needs updating though with regards to showers. Every time anyone turned on the taps at the sinks or showers or toilets you could hear the pipes making noise all around the house. House was old looking so I suppose that was to be expected then. Check out was 10am so a bit early!
- matthew (4/5): It was okay bed was comfy however a few downfalls were issues - It was very quiet. A little bit of a walk from amenity’s The showers we horrendous literally no water pressure. And we got no hot water the last 2 days.
- Mary (7/5): Expensive, but was reaonably clean and functional for a short stay. - It was fine for a short stay. It was clean and functional. Allowed pets albeit with an additional charge. Was set up with facilities for longer stay but we only on a short visit so didn’t really use many of the facilities as we were out and about and just needed a bed and a shower. Expensive for what we got. Furnishings were mismatched and not great quality and personally I prefer a firmer matress. Some debris and broken glass on outside grounds of property.
- Majella (8/5): This is not a 5 star hotel. It’s a self catering cottage. Management were very efficient and I can’t fault it. Has issue - House was clean and warm. Walking distance to Bunratty. Everything you need is in the house Nothing wrong with house. I
- james (9/5): Wonderful location grand staff lots of room Quiet, quiet quite - Location is perfect quiet great sleeping
Lots of room
Back yard
3 bathers no waiting
Everything works
Staff is perfect Furnishings are dated small beds
No parking at the building-it rains a lot
Oven knobs are worn down have to guess on that pizza or chips!
- Doris (7/5): - Conveniently located, walking distance to Bunratty Castle. Quiet and green. Spacious, but furniture a bit ratty. Dishwasher and washing machine worked well. Dishwasher tablets provided (which is helpful but not always the case). Cooker and oven in an appalling state. Some basic cooking utensils missing.
- kevin (7/5): - House was open and keys left inside the house. Great location, and very helpful staff. We had a few issues with the house, I called the mobile number and a really nice lady called and did her best to help us out.
Upstairs windows open out fully and no child locks. They fitted locks immediately.
Tables were loose, leg hanging off the kitchen table. They were fixed immediately.
Smoke alarms are ancient and no dates on them. Carbon monoxide alarms were to be changed in 2016 (8 years ago)
Shower was leaking, toilet leaking, blind cords hanging on the ground (they should be fixed to wall)
There was a good few maintenance issues and the houses are obviously not being upgraded. All landlord issues and not the staff. Staff are doing their best.
- Bill (3/5): -
- Regina (1/5): - Personal items of clothing left behind were not returned to me.
- Annemarie (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- Martin (8/5): - Location was good. We were led to believe the playground could be used and was just out the back but we had to pay into the area where the playground was which was very expensive. The house was very dirty floors not swept hair on furniture which I assume was dog hair.
- gordon (9/5): Family holiday including the K9's - The location was great, the house was clean and comfortable. It is a quiet area and easy access to all the local towns and facilities. Dog friendly. If I had to pick something the TV remote wasn't great. Nothing else
- Ana (6/5): Más que un b&b, un e
scaperoom...
- Ciara (9/5): Fantastic stay in a large house in the perfect location. - Fantastic location, and a great sized comfortable self catering house. Great to be able to use a kitchen and laundry facilities. We just needed to bring our own laundry powder, the machine and air dryer (clothes hanger) was there. Need to get instructions on how/ when to use the immersion switch for hot water/ fine for me but confusing for my Aussie husband so good to have the clear instructions from the host. Great to be able to visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and enjoy the local cafes and shops. Limerick just a stones throw away. The double bed wasn’t comfortable but single beds were good.
- ciara (6/5): -
- Margaret (5/5): Great location. - Location in Bunratty was good. The entrance way to the property site was bordered by abandoned business properties.
- Joaquim (3/5): Old, badly maintained and unwelcoming staff. - Location Old, badly maintained and unwelcoming staff.
- Declan (6/5): Accommodation was fine. - Location Power to outlets was gone for a full day. Issues resolved the following day
- Paula (3/5): - Good location Poor cleanliness and maintenance.
- Dagur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noel (5/5): Location is good but house was overpriced. These houses need updating, gardens are full of weeds - House needs updating. Late check in & very early check out. Bin area was filthy, no access to recycling bins as they were locked with a chain.
- Micheál (9/5): Beautiful location & an ideal facility… we will definitely be returning! - Brilliant & convenient location. Shared access to garden behind the property, meaning little or no privacy
- John (10/5): - Have everything you need in house. Shop 5 mins away pubs and food 5 mins, too. Bus stop right outside .
- Beverley (7/5): - Location & space No information left about appliances, etc. Overseas travellers are not familiar with things like immersion heaters for instance. Also the way to lock / unlock doors was totally foreign to us. Luckily we were able to find someone to assist. Difficult without onsite staff to get assistance. When there was no plug for the kitchen sink, my message was not understood & therefore it was too hard.
