Guest Reviews
- Melba (10/5): Awesome - Had friendly staff and convenient to everything
- Kelly (6/5): Alright - It was ok. The bed could’ve been softer and the room could’ve been decorated more
- The (2/5): - They cancelled on me at 5pm on the day of check-in after calling me the day prior to ensure I arrived before 9pm.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Thieves and liar - RUNNNN do not go any further and run away from this place. They are thieves and liars. Lost my reservation the first weekend and had nowhere to stay. Stayed a second weekend and when i left my room the motel staff went into my room and stole all my belongings. I returned to my room around 10PM and EVERYTHING was missing and cleaned up like I had never been there. I went to the front desk and the doors were locked and lights off. I called the number and noone answered. I finally got in touch with a lady that had checked me in and she drove to the hotel. She found my belongings packed up and locked in the hotel. I took my stuff and got out ASAP. They told me that they had packed my stuff for "security". All of my medication were missing and so was my makeup and toiletries. filthy liars and thieves.
- Paul (10/5): - New management rooms recently renovated. Nice staff.
- Sarah (10/5): - This is a great cabin with a pretty view and lots of room for a couple or small family to spread out. It was extremely clean and well stocked with anything you would need. We had a great stay and felt right at home! ❤️
- Mellanie (4/5): - The floor was dirty and sticky, the bed was horrible, and the window only had one curtain so privacy was scarce. You could see into our room in the corners.
- Reynaldo (8/5): - It's near our booked scenic railway.
- laura (8/5): Great value. Clean! - Alisa was extremely helpful and accommodating for our late check in. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Some renovations have been done, but a fresh coat of pain would go a long way.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not impressed. - It was obvious it was an old hotel that had been updated. The bathroom was not clean, floor was stained and there was hair in the bathtub. No hair dryer. I stayed two nights and did not get clean towels or coffee for the coffee pot the second day. Didn’t see an ice machine anywhere. Office was closed in the morning so no breakfast. Beds were memory foam with no memory left.
- Richard (2/5): - The reservation I made a month in advance, was not honored, even with my confirmation number.
- Angie (4/5): - When I got there my room hadn't been cleaned. They did put me in a different room. The staff was very nice, but wasn't impressed.
- Victor (6/5): Not again - My wife and I stayed because we were traveling with dogs and it was the only place with availability. We found dead roaches under the bed by the head board and along the base board. No stopper in the sink or bath tub, Shower curtain was filthy, oblong toilet seat on a round toilet, what looked like a shower curtain over the outside window, rusty shower curtain rod, coffee pot with no coffee or cups, . In addition neither my wife nor I smoke and we were placed by a ground floor hallway. Apparently everyone else in the hotel smoked and used that main hall. Anytime we opened our door the smell of cigarettes permeated the room. There is not supposed to be smoking in the rooms but our sink had cigarette burns on the counter. Several small holes were in the wall and the TV remote didn't work. The bed was comfortable though and they have a nice family area in the back but the dogs use it for a bathroom so you have to watch where you step, as I found out. We did speak to the owner who said he had just purchased the property and was trying to improve it. They need to have separate areas for smokers and non smokers and place dog bags out back so dog owners have no excuses for not picking up after their pets, we always bring our own bags just in case of this exact situation.
- Dingeman (8/5): Reasonable and clean lodgings - I had reserved this accommodation almost a month before via Hotels.com and this was confirmed, however when we arrived they did not have our reservation. We also were not the only ones. Fortunately they had a cancellation, and they honored the price we had on our confirmation, and gave us a room. The room itself was clean and comfortable with all the amenities one would expect, as well as complimentary shampoos etc. The mattresses were quite hard, more so than we were both comfortable with. Sheets were amazingly soft and comfortable.
- Jorge (8/5): - Good for value
- casandra elena (8/5): - Excellent staff service. Very quite and relax
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great check-in service and I really like the keypad entry for easy checkout.
- Charlene (4/5): - Wrong bed setup had to get a cot for my son. Someone tried getting into my room if it wasnt for the chain they would have been in.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bed was infested with bed bugs. I was nearly eaten alive.
The secure latch on the door was non existant. If our room code had been compromised, there was nothing to prevent an intrusion. We barricaded the door as best we could.
Don't stay here. Cheap is cheap.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the staff was very friendly. The room itself was dirty and we had flies coming out of the baseboard where it had seperated from the wall on the side of the bed closest to the door. My husband ran around chasing them all night. I hate to leave a bad review, i seemed they were new owners or something so maybe still working out the kinks. Again they were very friendly but 106.00 is a lot for what we got. sorry
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed was very uncomfortable and the room couldn't have been more dull if it was a prison cell.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean but old and run down
- austin (2/5): no for the money - The place was stayable for one night. lots of drug users around, mold in the room and bathroom. place looked like someone cleaned it... once upon a time..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was clean and price was good.
TV did not have signal and no USB port on lamps in room. I think people are becoming accustomed to this being available and was disappointed that it was not.
- Pamela (2/5): - I really don't like writing negative reviews, but I really don't have a choice under the circumstances. First, I will give the one pro, which is that you can take your dogs there, even larger dogs, and their dog policies are very reasonable.
We were forced to make a last-minute reservation here for 5 nights because our other accommodations in the area fell through. We were initially put in a room upstairs. I asked for a first room floor because one of our dogs is very old and he struggles with steps. They told me there were no vacancies. The next morning, I asked again and they said a room had opened up on the first floor and we could move into it, which we did.
That afternoon, I went to use the restroom in our new room and noticed that my feet were wet when I stood up. I then realized that the entire floor in the bathroom was wet and it was the toilet leaking. I called the front desk and they sent a maintenance person right over. He at first told me that he didn't think the toilet was leaking but came back later and said that he would need to replace the seal. It was after 5 by this point and he said I would probably not want him to do it then because it would take 2 hours. At that time, he wrapped a towel around the base of the toilet. He said to let the office know if we left with the dogs the next morning and he would take care of it then. I did tell the office.
When we returned over 6 hours later, it didn't seem like anything was different in the room but I thought m
- Angela (10/5): Cute and Affordable - The Rustic Inn is affordable and cute. It is located right in Blue Ridge, which is convenient, especially if you are there to visit downtown Blue Ridge. Because of the price, do not expect anything fancy. It is also dog friendly, and does not restrict sizes. There is a huge area to let your dog run around and get some exercise. It is a motel and it is a comfy place to lay your head. Nothing more. The parking is somewhat inconvenient. If you get a room around back, you have to park in front and walk quite a bit to your room. If you have a lot of stuff to carry, be prepared to make several trips. All in all, I recommend the Rustic Inn. The staff was VERY accommodating and friendly.
- Christopher L (8/5): Clean and worth the price! - This hotel worth the price. It's nothing fancy but recently renovated and clean. The shower curtain bar was loose and needs to be replaced. Also, they advertise a continental breakfast but we were told due to covid we got nothing. They should update their description of the breakfast not being included.
- Kate (4/5): Poor visit. Would not recommend. - Initially coded door would not open. Took 2 people to get it to work. Was next greeted by a pair of earrings laying on the bed then a huge spider on the floor.
Tv would not work and when I went to ask for batteries for the remote they only had a used pair out of something else.
Next morning went to get continental breakfast. They had about 6 generic cups of yogurt and 2 frozenish biscuits w/sausage. Was going to take a yogurt but they were out of spoons.
Would not recommend this place as frankly the staff didn’t seem to care even a little bit about being sure they were stocked, clean and helpful to guests.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a fan - Would not stay again! They didn't even have my reservation at first. Took 45 minutes
for them to find it. Shower curtain had 2 inches of mold at bottom. Floor was not mopped in a LONG time. Breakfast alot to be desired! AC unit loud, kept us up all night long.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not clean at all! - Floor was dirty, bed sheets had hair and dirt and unknown yellow stains. Pillows were flat old and mattresses were foam cushion. Bathroom sink had a Urine smell! Blood spots on the bathroom wall. Very uncomfortable!
- zornitza (4/5): - Hotel was renovated at one point but the problem is they are not keeping it clean. They let it go down so bad it was terrible. Our sheets were not changed and we had to call for new sheets when it was time for bed ( we did a late check in)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Where to start? The door to our room was missing the numbers. Upon stepping inside, it smelled musty. It just got worse. There were roach droppings on the shelf above where you hang clothes. I killed a roach crawling across the floor. There were dead bugs in the ceiling light fixture and mold on the bottom of the shower curtain, which hung on a very rusty rod. The only good thing I can say is that the mattress was comfortable. Pick another place to stay!!!
- Bradley (10/5): Nice place - Had a good stay staff very friendly and helpfull
- Young (8/5): - The hotel description was just as we found it. Basic place to stay. Nothing extra. Rooms were clean and we had enough space for the four of us. Clean rooms and a good place if you just need somewhere to sleep and shower while exploring all the mountains have to offer!
- Charles (8/5): - The rooms were great except for trying to enter them. The doorknobs were so close to the seal that you hurt your fingers every time you tried to enter the room
- Jerry (4/5): - Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing,nothing,nothing
- Julia (8/5): Just the basics and clean - This is a no-frills, just the basics place. The bathroom had been redone but the furnishings and such are a shabby chic, yet clean
Lovely check-in in and if you just want to shower and sleep at the end of the day and keep costs low, this is the place for you
- Denise (8/5): - Older motel. Very clean, very comfortable bed and lots of hot water. Not a lot of frills but a safe, clean, comfortable stay!
- Joseph (8/5): - Room was clean, we were there for 2 nights. They only provided the room with 2 towels and 2 washcloths. Hand towels would have been nice. Also after the first night I thought room service would have left clean towels, straighten the bed and emptied the trash. The only thing was the towels were changed out. I would stay there again but ask for more towels and question them on there so called breakfast. Fridge had nothing to drink.
- Kerry (8/5): - Friendly staff, a good value for the money. Location is good.
- Donna (8/5): - Nice people, nice room, but hard to open door. Bed was good. Not noisy or loud neighbors.
- Mark (4/5): Rustic Inn - It’s the Rustic Inn for a reason. No frells. Bed was comfortable though. Not much on breakfast foods.
- CD (10/5): - The Blue Ridge Rustic Inn is a cozy, simple, "just what you need and nothing more" kind of place. We loved it! Staff are friendly and helpful and our stay was very comfortable.
- Jack (10/5): - The staff treated us like family. Clean, comfortable room.
They even hosted an Independence Day picnic with fireworks for their guests!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff very nice. Outside appearance very disappointing but inside nice and very clean. Comfortable beds.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Having to walk through a passage way where all the smokers were was nasty.
- Amanda (8/5): - The gym was closed due to Covid 19. Beddings need to be updated sheets and comforter both had stains. Room looked to be updated and was nice. We stayed for one night and would stay again. Will say since they allow pets we were woken up to a dog barking early and then constant for a few hours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean room. Too much surveillance and lighting out back. Tried to see the stars bit too much light. Bathroom fan does not work. Wife not happy with scent I left.
End of day. Will stay again
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Like- close to town
Not like- nothing worked i.e. lack of maintenance
- Mary (8/5): Old but good. - The hotel is old, but it is extremely clean. They need more parking places.
- Eric (4/5): Stay only as a last resort - Person behind the desk was terribly sick, I was afraid to touch anything. The room was clean but tired and looked nothing like the picture. The sheets smelled of kitchen grease, the bath door squeaked loudly and the fan didn’t work. The room was hard to sleep in because of people walking above. There was no soundproof between rooms. This place should only be a last resort
- Verified traveler (6/5): - If you’re a female traveling by yourself, don’t stay here. Very sketchy.
- Claude (10/5): - Very good service. Accomodating . Had to leave early and they refund. Thank you
- Just (6/5): - This is a bare bones old motel that has recv some room renovations. Like new floors and paint. No frills but not bad for a nights sleep. Quiet on the back side of building. Good parking. Right off hyw and just a few minites drive into Blu Ridge. Bed was comfy. No alarm clock, no drinking glasses, no hangers, no chair, no bath floor matt, singly ply tp. Heater runs thru a window style dual AC unit so it kicks on and off a lot and when on cant hear tv.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Economical. The definition of no frills.Employees smoking area in front of lobby doors smelled terrible but the room was clean.
- myra (8/5): Blue Ridge - Hosts were very friendly and helpful. For us, the bed was not really comfortable, but someone else might like that firmness with no box spring? Breakfast is quite minimal, but for the price in a popular mountain area, we were pleased.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was very clean.Staff very friendly and courteous.
No cups or glasses in room for drinking water and no bath mat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Inn - I was surprised on how clean the room was. If you need a clean, quiet and simple place to stay overnight, this is the place. Everyone was very courteous and friendly. Breakfast is basic. Just a little something to start you off. Outside corridors. No elevator to second floor. If your looking for a fancy motel with hot buffet breakfast and or elevators, then go elsewhere. If not then try here. You won’t be disappointed.
- FM (10/5): - Nice place to stay very clean
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Conditions very poor, we were given 2 towels and wash clothes, no hand towels
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For an inexpensive place to stay, I highly recommend the Modern Inn. I would suggest having better coffee in the AM for the guest. Breakfast not a necessity but coffee a must.
- RK (4/5): - I am not sure where all those great reviews came from but 3 couples stayed here and all were disappointed. Our room had roaches , bugs and bug eggs in the coffee maker. Killed 3 roaches in the room and one even made it in our luggage blah!
Also there was hair in the shower. The vent was covered in dust and the shower rod was almost rusted in half. Thank goodness this was a short stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nicely updated and clean. Priced right. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice price and clean enough but no hair dryer and skimpy on supplies. No tissues. No hand towel. Definitely bring extra wash clothes. Very limited breakfast. Friendly at check in and check out. Nice attempt to fix up and use an old building again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff were very nice and helpful. The bathroom door was hard to close (slightly bent to where we had to force it closed). Toilet paper was 1 ply and rough, no kleenex, and wifi didn't work the entire time we were there.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Fall foliage fail. - Pretty sad stay with 2 other couples on fall foliage trip. Website didn’t disclose motel is on major noisy highway. Looked like something out of the 50’s that stayed there. Small beds, towels the size of a postage stamp, no bath mat and hair dryer only by request. Check in through a cage window, ‘breakfast’ on a 3’x5’ table, and no hangars. Only positives were military discount and cleanliness.
- Margie (6/5): - No hand towel, no bath mat, one cup for the coffee for 2 people in the room, no hangers to speak of (2 and one should have been trashed). Small TV. Room didn't feel comfortable, just a bed to sleep in. Soaps were too small; one medium sized bar of soap for the shower would have been nice. Would not stay here again. Heat fan in the bathroom did not work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The beds are super comfortable! The staff are extremely helpful and really nice, it definitely made the stay really great! Had some problems getting in the room because of the door lock system but was fixed right away. The prices are really great too
- Unhappy (2/5): - Beds were hard .room smelled old and musky shower curtain was dirty the only thing modern was the toilet
- Verified traveler (6/5): - bathroom was not very clean and the girl who checked me in wanted to copy my credit card which I declined. When I checked out the person in charge at that time said there was no such need for the copy of card.. SCAMM???
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is an old property ... they are working on it, updating and cleaning it up ... very basic. A bed and a shower -- that is is!
- Verified traveler (2/5): DON'T DO IT! - When we checked in, there was another couple behind us and heard the guy say what the "code" was to get into our hotel room (it's just a keypad on the doorknob). Made us feel real safe. We tried to make the best of it but about 3-4 am, we couldn't take it anymore. It sounded like someone stomping or dragging furniture right above us ALL NIGHT! We got up packed up our stuff and left. Tried to get into the front to let them know and apparently there is nobody on site overnight. WE WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE STAYING AT THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The door leading to the room would not open, once inside door was stuck closed
- Jeff (8/5): - US citizen owned and operated! For the price it can't be beat. Clean and we'll keep up.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beds were not too comfortable and small. The room however was nice and had a cozy like feel
