Guest Reviews
- Caroline (9/5): -
- Anna (8/5): Local stay near Oxford. - Convenient and friendly staff. Local parking. Great value for money. The shower was not strong but water was hot enough.
- Tania (5/5): -
- john (6/5): Great pub, bad rooms - Great pub. Friendly, welcoming and professional staff in a village near Oxford. Room very basic, very uncomfortable mattress. Clean but a strong stench from plug in bleach smelling airfreshner that burnt my eyeballs out, needed to be unplugged and room aired for an hour before I could get to sleep.
Water pressure was very bad in the electric shower unit(have not seen one of those for many years).
Well over priced given the quality of room. Would go to the pub again but not stay.
- Liam (10/5): -
Molto sporca. Rapporto qualità prezzo molto sfavorevole.
- Fiona (8/5): Good for an overnight - Staff were great as was the Thai restaurant The room was comfortable but basic. Very good pillows! It was quite noisy during the afternoon and early evening as the room opens onto the pathway to the garden and many people would congregate there for chats or to make calls. They clearly didn't think there was someone just the other side of the wall who could hear every word :)
- Peter (7/5): - Clean, basic pub room, did the job.
- John (6/5): Quant location but beds need an update. - Cute and picturesque location. Food at the Pub was excellent. Beds were terrible and we slept poorly.
- steven (8/5): Queens head - Room was very cozy nice pub and bar 🍺 My only criticism was the breakfast options and also the shower wasn't fully working correctly once boiling water then cold but that's why I scored 8 out of 10
- John H (8/5): The Queens Head was very adequate for the purpose surrounding our visit to Oxford. We would stay again as I can only ima - The warmth & friendliness of the hosts, the location of the property and comfortable, clean room. Although the room was more than acceptable generally it was situated on the 1st floor directly above the kitchen. The smell of cooking from the kitchen impacted the room and the smell was particularly noticeable when trying to get to sleep.
- Kevin (8/5): Great value for an overnight stop - Friendly staff Nothing
- Robin (8/5): Good - The room was small but comfortable. Everything worked fine and a self-service breakfast was provided in the room. There was not much room to put anything but for a 2 night stay it was fine.

- KIRSTEEN (9/5): A really nice esurprise! - Friendly staff-really outstanding
Absolutely outstanding Thai restaurant. The chef even made an all GF sharing plate for 4 for starters for us. We were 2 couples from different parts of the country meeting up. We have all travelled extensively. We all declared it the best Thai food we have ever had and wished it was local to us.
A “breakfast” was left in the room, but they signpost to a garden centre only 5 minutes away for a cooked breakfast. Again, it was absolutely outstanding with a superb gluten-free breakfast (beware, it looks like it doesn’t open on a Monday but alternatives available nearby). We all decided we would meet up here again just for t( food in both venues. Rooms a little bit dated and needed a refurb. However, they were clean and warm. OK for one night.
- Sarah (2/5): It was the worst night I ever had - Generous refreshments in the room.
Thai restaurant looking really good. We were in room n1 and it is next to the bar and the outside door, unfortunately it was a birthday party last night so the noise was incredible, people were going out and in all the time so the door was always banging and of course the noise increasing, people were getting drunk so they were leaving the door open and they were talking loudly just in front of the room plus they were smoking. We were trying to sleep and couldn't. Some people were also really rude when I was mentioning I was sleeping there with a young child. It was supposed to be quieter at 11pm but they put the music up and they were still parting up to 1:30am. It was the most horrible night I ever had. I know it's a pub but they shouldn't have a family room or even a room right at the bar step. I could see the staff from the window and nobody was trying to raison with them. They did shot the outside door after 11pm but it was too noisy to sleep. Couldn't sleep from 9pm until 1:30pm.

- hoban (9/5): -
- Natalie (7/5): Good location - Location and parking The bed was uncomfortable as the mattress had raised edges, the lights above the bed did not work (room 2)
- Ray (8/5): -
- Sandra (9/5): -
- Ruth (8/5): -
- James (10/5): Good local pub accommodation with friendly staff - Fantastic staff especially Jason, great location, super friendly and helpful , good food and drinks Nothing
- Nick (4/5): Last minute choice - Nice pub atmosphere Rooms are dated with many thing visible repairs, no heating control in room so in night heat was on full in morning was frozen
- Deborah (8/5): -
- Miriam (9/5): Very welcoming lovely landlord, barmaid and chef. - Very pretty village, continental breakfast in the room . All fine Just some shelves or a table in the bathroom for toiletries. A shower caddy. I had to put everything on the floor
- Shaun (10/5): My third time at the Queen's Head, and will definitely use them again. - Family room is lovely. Great location for that final push to Heathrow the next morning. Didn't see enough of the pub cat!
- Michaela (7/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): - Very friendly welcome. Although the hotel was adequate for our needs we left with the feeling that our room would benefit from
some refurbishment.
- Angela (9/5): An ideal place to stay for a night or two. Nearby bus service into Oxford and taxis available too. Good value, clean and - Our room was comfortable and we had everything we needed, including a generous supply of tea and coffee. Porridge, brioches and fruit were left for our breakfasts, which was very kind and unexpected. Bed was comfortable and shower good. Slope to the ground floor rooms, easy to wheel suitcase. Nice and warm. Walk in shower - bathroom ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Jason was extremely helpful and polite. Free parking and on site restaurant. Enjoyed a lovely meal there. Staff friendly. Nothing

- Malc (10/5): - Everything You need for a comfortable stay, great beer, good atmosphere. Nothing.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Vijay (5/5): Convenient location for an overnight stay - Nice to have the pub where I could spend some time before going to the room. Lovely people. Comfortable room. The bathroom was a bit grim. cold and not as clean as expected.
- Vladimir (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Great pub with excellent food. - The pub was fantastic and the food was exceptional. Also the staff were great. The mattress wasn’t great and the rooms outside were next to the smoking shelter.
- Elisabetta (8/5): Room worked out well for our one night in the area - Easy to reach with free parking on site, clean and comfortable beds, all necessities like ironing board, fan, hairdryer etc. Coffee and tea in the room and a couple of packaged breakfast items as well as fruit provided for breakfast, which was fine. The food at the pub is thought to be very good, but unfortunately, our schedule didn't work out for us to enjoy that meal.
From the inn into Oxford it's a very short and easy drive by car. Nothing really, the host was nice and the room was perfectly fine for our one night in the area.
- Carina (9/5): -
- Antony (5/5): - location nice, peaceful. room was alright beds were uncomfortable, bathroom could do with a upgrading
- Jane-Anne (10/5): Lovely - Really really nice place.
Very welcoming and kind and really tasty food?
Will definitely be coming back here again in the future! XD Nothing
- Grant (7/5): Nice place to stay. - All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a free breakfast as the restaurant at Queens Head didn't open until later. We were told of local restaurants that were open for breakfast. The location was handy. The lights above the bed didn't work, but that wasn't a problem.
- Nicholas (8/5): - Bike storage, clean room, easy access
- Laura (7/5): Good location for visiting Oxford - The location is good and the price wasn’t too bad for Oxford.
The room was very warm and the duvets are amazing- all feather- very warm and light. This is a village pub with rooms. The furniture is a bit old and outdated but this didn’t bother us, everything was very clean and working ok. But our room smelled like food from the downstairs thai kitchen, the restaurant is open until late so we went to bed smelling it and clothes needed to be washed when we got home.
- Jed (6/5): - Rooms are very small outside near smoking area etc not the best location if folk are having a chat. Nice pub with Thai food, breakfast is a pot of instant porridge and fruit. OK for a night but wouldn’t want to stay longer.
- Billy (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): -
- Linda (7/5): -
- Kay (8/5): Comfortable overnight stay - Comfortable room with everything we needed for an oversight stay. Good location for getting to the nearby Horspath sports facilities. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and we appreciated the breakfast fruit and porridge provided in the room. Room was quiet after pub closing so we got a good night’s sleep.
- Hug (10/5): -
- Kelly (9/5): Good value comfortable stay close to City Centre - Very welcoming staff. Wonderful Thai food served in the pub. Comfortable beds. Great location. Nothing.
- Chris (10/5): Lovely stay in a local pub. - The Queens Head was a lovely place to stay and was ideal for our one night stay. The room we stayed in was attached to the pub and was more than adequate for what we needed. Jason and his team were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The beer went down well and the food was excellent.
Myself and my son had a great stay at this local pub and will hopefully return one day.
Keep up the good work. Nothing
- Laurens (10/5): -
- Christian (5/5): -
- Jeffrey (7/5): Nice bar area, nice restaurant, quick and regular bus service into Oxford city center. - Continental style breakfast in room which was perfectly fine for us on this occasion. Tea and Coffee also available in room. Room very very hot and if you opened the window the smells from the kitchen then wafted in which you didn't want when trying to sleep.
- Bernadette (6/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, however the 1st room given was right next to the beer garden which meant it was very noisy then we we're upgraded to a family room, much more space but directly above the kitchen so extremely noisy until late.
The beds were very uncomfortable and the quilts feather which was not good for my allergies, all in all quite a uncomfortable but friendly stay
- Richard (8/5): -
- tom (3/5): Unsuitable, more like backpacker accommodation at a higher price. - Food Carpark location, noisy,
- arianna (7/5): - Staff accogliente e gentile. Atmosfera rilassata e amichevole. Camera simpatica. Pulizia mi è sembrata migliorabile. Invadente l’odore di cucina.
- Oi Sin (8/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - Great location, close to friends we were visiting. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- Alison (5/5): Our stay in Oxford before going to the opera. - The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet despite the bars being open. There was no food only a packed breakfast in the room. The bathroom was not very clean.
A zuhanyzó szinte használhatatlan volt, alig folyt a víz.
- YENTING (8/5): - 1.
- Kirstie (8/5): Great accomodation in a lovely village - The breakfast was an unexpected welcome bonus, the room was perfect for our needs and the village offered the things we needed. Oxford accessible by the local bus service as I don't drive. Nothing
- Nigel (9/5): -
- N Meredith (8/5): - No breakfast as such as restaurant run as separate business but breakfast basket provided (fruit, porridge, choc-au-pain) in room along with tea and coffee.
The restaurant was Tai-based and excellent.
Bar staff friendly and obliging
- Amanda (9/5): Lovely little inn quietly located for access to the Oxford area. Very friendly staff and great food -
- Lars (7/5): Charming place with beds that could have been better but an excellent restaurant -
- Elaine (9/5): - All of it ,no issues Bed a bit lumpy
- Naoufal (10/5): - Amzing service! James is so nice he made sure i had everything that i need! i strongly recommend ❤️
- Bernardo (10/5): -
- Nigel (10/5): Great overnight stay - We didn't stay long, as it was an overnight stay on a longer trip. But they were friendly, the room was perfect, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
- Christine (10/5): Cosy stay in lovely old pub - Historic old pub opposite ancient church, friendly staff, pleasant beer garden and comfortable room. Only problem was the wifi wasn’t strong in our room but worked okay in the pub.
- Aurélie (8/5): -
- Brendon (9/5): Pretty much excellent - Breakfast was provided in the room - continental good standard; fans provided were useful on hot day (no air con); tea & coffee good standard; staff excellent. lovely location and aspect in small village on bus route to Oxford or easy drive. Stairs at entry; another trick set of stairs inside the room entry door; another set to loft. We left our larger bags in the car. Not much to not like really.
- Susan (7/5): Friendly pub stay - Asian food was good and plentiful. Room small and basic but perfectly adequate for 2 nights. Towels changed daily. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rather disappointed that breakfast wasn't available.
