- Rosemary (8/5): Very nice place, food very good, very comfy bed , staff very welcoming . - The room was very nice , lovely large bathroom. The breakfast was very nice and plenty of it. Staff very welcoming , very busy place. Nothing i didn't like .
- Thomas (8/5): Great - Fine atmosphere,great staff and service. X
- Nigel (8/5): Very satisfied. Will return if need to be in the area - For a relatively old pub in the suburbs it has had a lot of money invested. Everything clean and new. Attractive dining area, friendly and attentive staff Nothing
- Benjamin (8/5): - Staff were excellent, room was lovely The bathroom could have been better and there was some noise until 11, though it was very quiet after that
- Marek (8/5): -
- Melinda (9/5): -
- Nigel (9/5): Good place - Good value with friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms. Good Breakfast. No USB charging points in room (understand this is being addressed).
Cushions on bed??
Thought dinner menu expensive.
- Steve (9/5): Superb characterful pub – a big upgrade on the boring large hotels. Thanks to all at the White Hart. - We were looking for a cosy and comfortable overnight venue, not the type of soul-less corporate-style chain hotel or one that hosts events like weddings and seminars... they all seem really awful and characterless. The White Hart ticked all the friendly boxes from the outset with all the staff being most welcoming. The room was okay in a functional way and the bed was a comfortable two-singles-made-up-to-a-superking-size. We had a couple of drinks at the bar, which, with its friendly locals and their dogs, has a great atmosphere. We ate dinner in the restaurant where the food was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent too with a good choice of cooked dishes served in the dining room. Also, our car was secure in the private pub car park behind the property. We found nothing to complain about.
- Martin (8/5): -
- Saskia (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely room, great dining and breakfast
- Marcia (9/5): - The room was lovely. Food was delicious.
- Birgit (8/5): - friendly staff, parking lot, excellent breakfast, quiet at night, garden bed very soft, you can hear your neighbours talking too well
- Jessica (10/5): Great stay to visit Austin’s home - The pub was very cosy and the room was lovely The parking on site is great
- Sara (10/5): Lovely pub with great and very clean rooms - I love this place, the room had everything I needed: water, kettle, coffee machine, hairdryer, shampoo, bodywash, conditioner, soap, body lotion. It was very clean and the staff are extremely friendly. Lovely breakfast in the morning. If I were to stay in the area again, I would definitely stay here. Nothing - I loved it here.
- Judith (8/5): A pleasant place to stay and well located for visiting Jane Austen’s house at Chawton. - We were visiting Chawton and the hotel was under 10 minutes drive away. We had two bedrooms and one was an upgrade from the standard room booked, the upgraded room was very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was generous and no ce. The kettle and beverages in the rooms were good. Everything was very clean and the beds were very comfy. The standard room overlooked the front patio and it was noisy with drinkers until about 10.15. I’d recommend requesting a room away from the front if you prefer quiet.
- Tanya (9/5): Warm welcome, cosy room & good food - A warm, friendly welcome with a comfy, clean room - perfect after a long day cycling. We also had dinner at the hotel, which was well prepared and tasty!
- Graham (8/5): Cosy and convenient - Convenient Noise at night from front garden area
- Alessandro (10/5): Amazing - Everything was great: the place was spotless, the staff were lovely, the food was delicious, and the location was perfect.
- Marie (7/5): Adequate, the location was convenient, room clean and simple - Lots of choice, but disappointing quality (especially tea and coffee, and preserves). I never received a reply to my email about charging of e-bikes, and when we arrived, the welcome was non-existent. Luckily another member of staff came and was very helpful.
- Mark (10/5): - Comfy rooms, great brekkie Nothing
- RobVal (10/5): Great location, good food, friendly staff and a comfortable and clean room. A smashing stay. - The pub has a really nice feel and is in a very pretty village.
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and although it was really busy staff saw to our check in really quickly. The room was cosy and very clean and the en suite had beautiful soft towels and again was exceptionally clean. There was a nice range of teas and coffee in the room
We had booked in for an evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. We even received a call prior to our booking to explain that the Sunday roasts were finished which was a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was included in the price and once again we couldn’t fault the quality of the food or the choice.
All the staff were very nice and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nothing it really is a smashing place

The food was lovely and service was great too. Location was a great base to go off and enjoy the surrounding area's. Our room was a nice size every we needed was in there. - Christine (8/5): -
- Hess (8/5): Alltogether a good experience - V pleasant staff, good service, good food The emergency exit light in the bedroom was disturbing at night.
My experience as an Architect is that it s not necessary within a room.
I have never experienced that before.
Check it with your local Fire Officer.

- Fiona (9/5): Lovely rooms in lovely pub. - Lovely warm rooms and en-suite, location was good and staff friendly. Nothing
- Hilary (9/5): An excellent country pub with rooms. - Good food. Pleasant staff and comfortable bed. Well-equipped warm bathroom. Problem with heating in bed room .Wìent on and off without getting very warm. Complained twice but no improvement and got up in a very cold bedroom, not double glazed.
- robert (3/5): disappointed. reviews on Booking.com suggested it was of a very high standard and super clean. - We actually didn't stay, room looked ok but everywhere else was dirty, didn'tfancy eating there to be honest
- Emma (10/5): Lovely country pub - An idillic village pub. The beds were very comfortable. Nice hot shower. Good coffee in room as had a coffee expresso machine as well as teas. They squeezed us in for an evening meal which was tasty and breakfast was very good. Not anything which the pub could do but we had to close the windows as people out side were smoking underneath our window.

All staff were very friendly The hot water in our bathroom was incredibly hot as soon as the tap was turned on. Once informed, I’m sure they would check to ensure it was adjusted.

- LOU S-A (10/5): A little country gem - Everything.
The location, the pub itself, the food, the staff, the accommodation and of course the Guinness.
I can't wait to visit again. The fact that I wasn't able to stay for a third night.

- Melinda (8/5): Perfect overnight stay whilst visiting my mum. - Lovely characterful pub with delightful rooms, welcoming friendly staff. Nothing
- Keith (10/5): Excellent value and food, what else could you want for - Excellent atmosphere and very friendly staff. Great value and a superb breakfast although there was no black pudding☹️ As I am from Yorkshire this was a sin, but still worth the top score regardless as everything else was spot on No blavk pudding😢
- Nathan (9/5): - It was an atmospheric inn/pub, very well decorated inside with a nice outdoor area with picnic tables besides the car park. Restaurant was excellent for dinner and we had our choice of breakfast from their menu as we had it included in our price of the stay.

- kim (10/5): - We stayed for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, the comfort of our room and the quality of the food
The whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming Personally I would have preferred a continental breakfast but as the option wasn't available, I had a full English and it was excellent.
- neil (10/5): great staff - i stay with my son on a friday night when i visit him, he's a super fussy eater and the staff are always super kind and accommodating towards him at breakfast
makes a huge difference
- David (8/5): Another pleasant stay. - The pet welcome pack for my dog, a nice room, and a very nice breakfast Nothing
- steven (10/5): great location and friendly place to stay. - just a great place to stay, good pub and great food and staff are really nice. nothing
- Alison (10/5): Convenient location for visiting Jane Austen’s house - Very comfortable room; quiet location. Able to access by public transport (if you are relatively fit and mobile). Good food choices for those with food intolerances. Evenings do get busy, so book in advance if you want an evening meal. Breakfasts are freshly prepared so it’s a place for a relaxed breakfast, not fast food! Some breakfast cereals and croissants ( in addition to the breakfast choices) would be a good addition.

- Martin (8/5): Very nice country pub. Nice staff - Location, surroundings, and how the White Hart is Nå
- John (10/5): Lovely little gem! - Staff and food were lovely
- Joanne (8/5): Everything lovely except the early wake up beat! - Lovely room & breakfast Woken quite early (5am) with heavy base beat, presumably coming from music in the kitchen?…
- Linda (1/5): The worst place we have ever stayed. - The location The room was disgraceful. Black mould in the bathroom. The shower head was crusted with black mould and on using the shower black particles showered down. Stains and black scuffs on the walls.
- Jayne (7/5): Adequate but not entirely welcoming. - The room was well equipped with tea, coffee etc. the bed was very comfy, the bathroom was small but clean and functional with a great shower. The decor was plain. There were heavy duty black out curtains at the window. The radiator didn’t work. The manager did something with the valve that made no difference and he went home before updating me. One of the staff eventually found me a little electric fan heater, there was no sense of urgency in this task. It was Christmas Eve and they ‘were busy’. Well it was my Christmas Dve too and I was cold!
- Gary (9/5): Very comfy and very friendly staff. - Comfortable room and nice to have breakfast included. Very minor but as you asked ... Rear entrance area looks a bit tired.
