- Alain (8/5): Great little place, disappointing breakfast experience. - Lovely old building offering intimate dining with a nice menu. Well equipped room with coffee pod machine, comfortable bed, nice sheets, pillows and towels with robes. Room was above the pub and was a little noisy. They do have other external room. The breakfast was partly set up at 7am but nobody turned up until a little after 730. No access to coffee other than from my room, no bread, milk or butter so could only have dry cereal. After a lively meal the night before, this was a disappointment as I needed to get on the road before 8 and had to skip breakfast as everything was taking too long.
- Dougie (10/5): Proper local pub and a world class dining destination. - The Bell Inn strikes that rare, perfect balance between a proper local pub and a world class dining destination.
The vibe; Flagstaff floors, roaring open fires, mismatched wooden furniture. It feels lived in and authentic.
The staff were exceptional. the dining room and bar maintained a relaxed energy, even when the place was packed.
Food served in the dining room was cooked to perfection, I would highly recommend the Steak and the Cheese Burger!
The room was larger than expected to find, with a large walk in shower room just to finish it off. Picturise setting in a peaceful and tranquil part of the UK. Couldn't fault a thing.
- Pippa (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Very friendly staff, beautiful part of the country Room 2 is a lovely room, but does get noise from the kitchen/restaurant below.
- moritz (10/5): -
- Kerri (5/5): Booked last minute, beautiful location and pub however wouldn't stay here again. - Beautiful location, such a cute little pub! The cooked breakfast was lush, however the continental there wasn't much variety. Bedroom very small with paper thin walls, fire exit in our room led to nextdoor room. We could here every conversation room next door had! Coughing all night and woken at 7am to a family member calling them for 40 minute conversation wishing happy birthday.
Our room smelt of damp, pillows weren't very comfortable, mirror in bath room was dirty and the bathroom door lock didn't work.
- Alex (10/5): - Fantastic food and staff, room was great and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Papers provided and fire already lit for breakfast, perfect Cotswold Inn. Would be good for hot breakfast to be included in price but the included options were still greatly adequate.
- Karen (9/5): Excellent stay. Would use again - Clean and comfortable. Rooms had no storage
- Katie (9/5): Exceeded our expectations! - Such a beautiful, old property and incredibly well preserved / kept. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we felt there was strong attention to detail on little things that made it exceptional - like genuinely comfortable beds, great showers, and lovely bathroom products. Also, the staff were lovely, and the food at the restaurant was possibly the best we’ve had at a pub. We also loved the location - cute town and less crowded than others It is true that some of the rooms can be a bit noisy in the evening from the pub downstairs, but it stops when the pub closes and didn’t bother us too much.
- Alena (8/5): -
- Brian (5/5): -
- Elaine (9/5): - Great food served in the pub. Friendly staff
- Mark (9/5): Lovely - Lovely place in the country with a high standard of service and finish Stayed here a few times, this particular room was at the top of a very narrow staircase. But fun none the less
- Mike (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Pleasantly restful - Pretty friendly, food very good
- vincent (9/5): Very enjoyable - Beautiful old pub with good restaurant and log fire in a small picturesque Cotswolds village.
- Aiden (10/5): Excellent as always. - Everything. Brilliant food, service and surroundings. Would have liked to have able to get a hot breakfast with two minutes until it finished but otherwise nothing.
- Rob (9/5): -
- Ana (10/5): -
- Sue (9/5): It was a beautiful place in a great location - This is a beautiful old pub ,the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and very dog friendly It said bed and breakfast but the breakfast was continental you had to pay extra for cooked breakfast which it doesn’t tell you when you book it
- Marie (10/5): Good value for money, clean and comfirtabkk Lk e room and very friendly staff. Daniel was exceptiona - Continental breakfast was great - very fresh croissants and good range of fruit and cereal. Nothing
- Liesbeth (10/5): Beautiful high end room with good restaurant/pub and friendly staff!! - Amazing stay! The room was high quality & warm. The bed very comfortable. Tea and coffee availble in the room, aswell as bathrobes and such. Highly recomment for a nice, cosy fall getaway! Parking is on-site Our room was above the restaurant. It closed early, around 22u so we did not have any noise from it while going to bed luckily! But if you're an early sleeper or the restaurant would be open later, be aware or check before making a reservation ;-)
- Roger (10/5): A very pleasurable experience - The staff, where it is situated, the rooms There is nothing I didn’t like
- Ana (10/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Highly recommend - Cleanliness and comfort Nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Beautiful place - Beautiful pub, friendly professional team. Can't fault anything
- Ashley (8/5): - the team where really great and the pub was very idyllic the breakfast was a little basic and the room was very small
- Matus (10/5): Great inn with authentic mood, style and touch - Amazing Inn in small village with really countryside feeling.. Comfy beds, nice design of rooms. Breakfast was nice, with mussli, croissants offered. Warm selection (eggs) was for extra charge.
- John (10/5): -
- Giulia (10/5): Ottimo cibo, bellissimo soggiorno, ritorneremo - Bellissima atmosfera da locanda tutto pulito, cibo ottimo, personale gentile e disponibile, tutto tipico delle Cotswolds molto attenti a tutto. Torneremo sicuramente
- Julie (10/5): -
- KENNETH (7/5): Ok but nothing to get to excited about - Breakfast was included however this was only dried fruit, bread, yogurt and coffee cooked breakfast was extra not what was implied in the listing
- Anna (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Tom (7/5): Lovely, fit the bill. - Location and friendly staff Loud neighbours, not very sound proof.
- Trevor (10/5): Super friendly staff and a great atmosphere - Lots of character!
- Paul (6/5): - Clean and tidy Breakfast was not very good charged extra for cooked breakfast rest was poor
- Sally (9/5): A hidden gem and excellent value for money - Amazing food, lovely room and very pretty village We were in a room above the restaurant so was a bit noisy. Also the towel rail on all night with no obvious switch so very toasty
- dunn (4/5): very disappointing to have to pay for a cooked breakfast and pay after each round. - Location and property Being charged for a cooked breakfast. The booking was made with breakfast included. The only 'free' breakfast was a continental type breakfast which is not what we like. There was no mention when booking or on arrival that a cooked breakfast would have to be paid for.
Also, evening meal and drinks could not be booked against the room until check out, felt pressurised to pay.
- Andy (3/5): Not impressed by the Bell Inn at all and I would not bother to stay here again or recommend to any one else - The pub was nice and olde world, the room was clean and well appointed… On booking dot com. I was told that the restaurant was busy and to book a reservation, which I did by replying to booking . Com
When we went to the restaurant in the evening there was no reservation…..according to the restaurant staff they were nothing to do with the Bell Inn and we should have made a reservation with the restaurant itself…
This was a first for me I have never heard of such a ridiculous situation before…
I then went to the bar to get a drink paid with cash and was told there was not enough change to give me!!!!
And could I pay by card, which I declined, the barmaid got very annoyed and went to find some change when I received it it was crumpled up and shoved very unceremoniously into my hand…
As luck would have it a cancellation miraculously appeared and we ate in the restaurant….there was also no mention of a continental breakfast, and we had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast…

- Geoff (9/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): So welcoming just perfect - Relaxed comfort just sorry we couldn’t have spent more time there
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful place. Beautiful village. Beautiful room - Beautiful place. Beautiful village. Beautiful room States breakfast is included but you have to pay for full english breakfast. What you actually get is cereal. Yoghurt. Fruit bread and toaster. Tea and coffee. Very misleading as listing states breakfast included
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): The staff were acceptional, the food was amazing, everything was to a high standard, including the cleanliness, our b - A lovely, quirky old property with lots of charm and a brilliant atmosphere. A great base to explore from.
- Paul (8/5): Bell in overnight stay - Lovely building . Staff in restaurant we very good. Food was really nice. . Great setting in middle of small quiet village. For us the bed and pillows were hard.
- Gary (7/5): Good in parts - Lunch and evening meals were excellent as was the very friendly server (had a great beard by the way). Breakfast was lacklustre and items were not replenished as they ran out. Very disappointed that there was no cooked option even though it is listed on their website.
Got smoked out of breakfast when the woodburner wasn't operated correctly. More worrying was the staffs lack of knowledge on what to when the smoke/fire alarm was blaring away.
- Geoff (7/5): Be prepared to pay extra if you want a cooked breakfast - Nice location, cosy and pleasant staff Booked a room with breakfast on Booking.com. Advised at breakfast that if we wanted a cooked breakfast this was extra. No mention of this on Booking.com or the website of the hotel. Disappointing
- linda (10/5): -
- Dawn (9/5): A pleasant stay with exceptional food - The food was amazing and the pub was very warm and welcoming and the rooms were tastefully decorated and very clean Some of the seating were to close together
- James (7/5): -
- Tim (6/5): A quaint farmhouse inn, satisfying our basic requirements, marred by the breakfast issue - Authentic “Cotswold” type farmhouse property, situated in a picturesque village. Lack of parking on the property, had to park on the street, some 100 meters away from the room.
A “Continental breakfast” was not specified, and we were looking forward to an English style meal. We were told that the kitchen had maintenance problems, but these lasted only during breakfast time, as the evening and lunch meals were unaffected. The evening staff were friendly and attentive.
- Julia (10/5): candle lit restaurant and bar, roaring log fires, the very best of English countryside - I dont really want to tell you because i want to be able to get a room when i need one but crikey, this place is absolutely divine. The atmosphere is incredible. Why do so many places get it wrong when this place seems to get it right so effortlessly. Stone floors, open fires so you can smell the wood burning, candles, low lighting, beautiful food, fantastic service.
If you want a cooked breakfast you have to pay extra, which i did and it was worth every penny.
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): Perfect. - It was perfect, we had a clean and comfy room. Followed by a fantastic evening meal and fabulous breakfast. Friendly and hard working staff.
- Neil (10/5): Top Cotswolds Pub - Lovely pub. Well appointed rooms, and exceptional food.
- Julie (10/5): - Good continental breakfast
- Stephanie (10/5): A hidden gem - The staff were very friendly. Parking outside on the street was easy. The breakfast was really good (though cooked breakfast was an extra charge but we did not mind). The bed was softer than we like which is why I out the comfort at 4 but we would definitely stay here again if we were heading to the Cotswold area.
- Tatyana (7/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent - Room, atmosphere, decoration in the pub. Proper Pub.
Excellent food. Guinness was good, but could be better.
Parking on street.
- Jo (9/5): - We loved the accommodation and the food. The staff were professional with personality. We can't wait to return Everything was great.
- Loudon (10/5): -
- Alexander (10/5): - Beautiful property with a lovely bar and restaurant. Unfortunately we didnt get chance to eat there but would love to revist again. Staff were friendly and put on a really nice breakfast spread (continental). Room was spacious, comfortable and well decorated with a nice wetroom-style bathroom. 100% would stay again!
- Dean (10/5): It was to short of a stay we could have stayed much longer - The room was really comfortable and the bathroom was spotlessly clean, the restaurant and bar was one of the best I have ever been to and the staff was amazing went the extra mile, amazing location There wasn’t anything we didn’t love about staying there, from the staff the bedroom the restaurant and the area with beautiful countryside it was perfect
- Rod (6/5): Get the kitchen in order…everything else is. - Clean and cosy. Dinner was unacceptable and breakfast limited to continental (apparently no chef for breakfast by one version, the kitchen being renovated according to another staff member).
- Amandeep (10/5): Excellent stay - Very beautiful property and rooms were pretty clean and comfortable Well, there could be more options in the breakfast menu.
- King (10/5): Amazing - Brilliant vibe , rooms , staff and area Nothing
- Martyna (10/5): Cosy stay with really tasty food in reasonable price - Location, comfortable bed, tasty food, lovely staff Thin walls
- Amy (9/5): - Quaint town, comfortable room. Nice outdoor space directly off room. Clean and tidy. Decent continental spread for breakfast. Not many breakfast alternatives for dietary needs.
- Gordon (9/5): Great - The staff were all very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. The peaceful village location was a plus. The restaurant menu was unusual but the quality and presentation fantastic. I had not prepared for the few mosquitos buzzing around the room.
- Jeff (6/5): stay was fine but the second night we had food and drink in lechlade as too expensive. - hotel and its location cost of food and drink
- robert (8/5): A night at a Gastro pub. - Nice setting, clean and comfortable. No car park, parking in the road. Only continental breakfast included.
- Sharon (9/5): Lovely village pub. - Lovely, country location. In a pretty village. Helpful friendly staff. Food delicious. Room on the small size. So quite hot and stuffy in there. The hotel did provide a fan.
- Jasmeet (9/5): Beautiful location with fabulous food - A beautiful property with old charm but with modern food and a twist! The room was VERY hot and there isn’t any air con, however, it’s the summer and it’s hot everywhere so not a fault of the pubs.
- Neil (9/5): - Excellent, marvellous well priced food and drinks, location fabulous, would go back nothinh
- Marc (8/5): -
- Apichaya (8/5): Lovely, comfortable and good value stay - Friendly and efficient no-fuss check-in. Room was clean, private and bed was very comfortable, lovely bath products provided. Some noise as the inn runs till 23.00 ish but all quiet after that. Delicious food for dinner (you need to book separately) as well as breakfast (yoghurt, bread and cornflakes provided, cooked breakfast at additional cost) Room we stayed in had low beams - slight hazard for bumping heads!
- Derek (9/5): A relaxing night stay - A very comfortable hotel in a peaceful setting. It was spotless plus the sleep quality was very good . The evening meal I had was superb
- Maria (9/5): -
