Max Madama (6/5): Not so good - Kindness and service by the owners and the stuff. Character of the interior. Breakfast was great. Owner was very accommodating on our booking allowing cancellation of one night with no penalty. Whilst the property is in the medina, it is not located in a nice area of it - it feels very dirty once you step outside and until you reach more tourist friendly areas. At night it feels unsafe. Dust on shelves in the room with the safe and coffee machine broken. Water spilling from everywhere in the shower rather than the shower head itself. clay tiles on the floor of the room were dirty. Lamp in the bedside table not working. Mattresses of the sofabeds very uncomfortable. Lack of natural light in the room and in the property throughout with bad artificial light. Not a great atmosphere. Plants in the reception area were pathetic and almost dead. Restoration work in common areas.

Ce riad est géré par une famille très sympathique et serviable. Je peux certainement recommander le guide Naser pour une visite de la ville. -
Elke (10/5): Perfekte Gastgeber und sehr authentisch marokkanisch im ältesten Viertel von Fez. - Die Gastfamilie war sehr sehr Hilfsbereit. Es gab zum Frühstück jeden Tag andere marokkanische Spezialitäten. Der Riad ist sehr traditionell - deshalb allerdings auch etwas düster , da alle Fenster, die auch noch bunt verglast sind entsprechend nach innen gehen. Die Mama und Ehefrau betreiben ein benachbartes Restaurant, das absolut zu empfehlen ist. Etwas düster - aber das liegt am Riad. Das Rooftop könnte ansprechender gestaltet sein - da wäre noch vieles möglich

Elia (8/5): Sehr schönes Riad und nettes Personal. - Das gebuchte Zimmer im wunderschönen Riad war sauber und ist aussergewöhnlich schön innendekoriert. Das Personal (Hausherr und seine Familie) war sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war für den Preis, welchen wir in anderen vergleichbaren Riads oder Hotels in Marokko bezahlten, nicht derart aussergewöhnlich. Der Wäscheservice war sehr teuer, zumal die Wäsche nicht gebügelt wurde. Zudem konnte im Riad nicht via Karte bezahlt werden, weshalb wir für mehrere Tausend DAM extra Bargeld abheben mussten.

Janet (10/5): Fez is unique and this Riad was excellent, we enjoyed it enormously - The Riad is in the maze of souk alleys in the oldest part of Fez en Bali. The owner has used all local craftsmen to refurbish the interior to exceptional beauty; wood carving, mosaic and carved plaster are all hand made. Fuad is welcoming, knowledgeable and able to help you make the best of the experience. The food in the family restaurant is also excellent.

Daily housekeeping is representative of a bygone Era of luxury that happens less and less today bug that is offered in this timeless riad. Do yourself a favor and stay at Riad AL Fassia Palace!
Guest (10/5): Staying in a real palace - This was the best place we’ve stayed by far. As soon as you enter the riad you feel like you are entering a palace. The decor is absolutely incredible, and the details are beautiful. The room was so pretty, very traditional but with modern comfort. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food everyday. The owner and his son made sure our stay was perfect. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They even went with us to buy leather objects and made sure we got quality products at a fair price. I would recommend without hesitation and I will go back for sure.

Kar (9/5): Superb - A family friendly place, be booked 2 rooms. İts very clean, accomodating host, location is perfect everything is walking distance, their breakfast is superb! Not only plentiful of spreads but also serving with moroccan salad and fava soup which i personally liked. Price is reasonable. The only issue why i gave 9 out of 10 because of the airconditioning unit. The first room is ok but the other room is not working well. A/c not cooling well.
John (10/5): A beautiful stay in Fes - From the moment we entered the Riad, Fouad and his family made us feel so welcome. The Riad is fabulous, and we had a lovely room. Nothing was a problem for this family run Riad, and everything was done with a smile. The breakfast was superb, and we also availed of a laundry facility, which was a great help on our travels. The Riad is in a great location, so near the centre of the Medina. Fouad's neice Marwa runs a nearby family restaurant, Dar Hatim (sarl), and we were invited there, and got a delicious meal. We were going to rent a car to get to Chefchaouen, to continue our tour, and Fouad offered to drive us there, for a very nominal fee, and we got to see more of Fez on the way. Overall, a very memorable and happy stay at Riad Alfassia Palace. Everything was great.
Anonymous (10/5): Extraordinary. - We have traveled in several cities in Morocco and we stayed in Riad AL FASSIA Palace 4 nights -- the best hotel we had in country. We felt we stayed at one of the King's palaces. The owner Fuad and his wife and two sons were the best hosts to us. Fuad came to the train station to pick us up, and dropped off to station when we left. We made a day trip to the city of Chefchaouen and Fuad took us to the bus terminal and after the trip he came to pick us up. The treated us like members of their family. Thank you so much, Fuad, and also to your lovely family. Nothing -- everything was perfect!

Angela (9/5): Beautiful but do your research - The accommodations are quite beautiful. It transports you back in time to a world that doesn’t exist anymore. This place is probably what you are looking for if you want to feel like you are on an exotic adventure. The details in the craftsmanship are extremely detailed and beautiful. The breakfast spread is quite good. This place is a gem in the making if some things are genuinely applied. Transparency in certain aspects, like arranged tours, would be wonderful. We were offered an arranged tour and I assumed it would be more of a tour of major sites. My mistake for not clarifying that. The first 3 hours (of approx 5hrs) is essentially you walking on foot through the Medina (all stops are within 10 minutes of the hotel) and you are dropped off at the entrance of each store (jewellery, herbalist, rug, fabric, tannery/leather) and handed over to a store representative. The representative then applies extreme sales tactics and makes the experience of learning about Moroccan culture uncomfortable. I can only speak about my experience so this is subjective commentary. When I didn’t buy certain items, faces of the representatives went sour very quickly. The entire first 3 hours was very stressful and ended up giving me a migraine. We decided to leave the tour after the first half and go back to the hotel. After this point we sensed a shift in energy from staff and this was unfortunate because it really is a lovely place to stay and has tremendous appeal and potential. Every person (staff and tourist/client) wants to be treated with respect. Respect comes in many different forms. Had we had the opportunity to learn and experience Morocco without being treated like an ATM machine and stupid tourists, who don’t understand the language or what is being said behind their backs, then our trip would have been a 10 out of 10. The rug representative that we were entrusted to actually said when I didn’t want to buy a rug, “We wish you would let us Moroccans smell your money” and started talking in their language and clearly showing us disrespect. This was all on a tour arranged by the hotel. Not a way to gain trust or experience Morocco in a positive way. I am a mother travelling with her 2 young adult kids. You can imagine how this must have felt.

Catherine (10/5): - The artistry & quality of craftsmanship of this recently rebuilt Ryad are outstanding. It is breathtaking; a special experience. The owners, sons, & niece work as a great team to delight their guests at the Riad & at their nearby restaurant (food and service are excellent). Tip: Get precise instructions as to where your taxi driver should drop you off (closest gate into the Medina because there is a short walk to it; cars can’t enter). Get the Riad team to meet you at your taxi. We arrived on a Friday, day where the Medina is closed & several gates in the Medina were looked. We had no prior information on that. No WIFI. Our taxi driver showed us on his phone that it’s only an 8 mn walk and gave us wrong directions (he had dropped us off at the wrong gate although we had given him the correct address, mislead us, overcharged us-this is common). There are no street signs. A teenager offered his help but took us to the wrong Riad; he called a friend who got us to our Riad after an hour of walking through dirty streets rolling our luggage. They were genuinely kind, wanting to help tourists as it is tradition in the culture & honest; we are well travelled & usually avoid such situations. They got a big tip; the owner of the Riad warmly greeted us with amazing tea & cookies. Had booked 2 days before because another Riad cancelled on us due to double booking. The owner said he responded to my request for pick up & tel; to this day i didn’t get this message; was it lost by Expedia?
Farah (10/5): - A splendid riad in the heart of Medina, and run by the most wonderful family. You feel at home away from your home. Parents, children, nieces and nephews pamper you the whole time. The family also has a Michelin level restaurant with authentic cuisine of Fes. I can’t wait to come back and stay there.
Heather (10/5): Amazing beautiful Riad! Most beautiful place we have stayed - Beautiful Riad! The most beautiful place we have ever stayed- you feel like you’re in a palace. We did a walking tour where they showed us beautiful Riad’s and none were as beautiful as Riad AlFassia. The family make you so welcome- we felt part of their family during our stay! The rooms are beautiful and the shower was fantastic. The views from the rooftop are incredible and the breakfast each day is delicious! It’s just a walk away from everything you will want to see but it is so peaceful too! They also gave us their WhatsApp so if we needed help whilst our or got lost we could contact them which is such a nice touch. We loved our stay here and would recommend it to everyone

Anil (10/5): A grand Fes experience in the style of bygone times. - A recently renovated structure dating from 18th c. in a central location in the Medina. Renovations done in grand style true to period designs. No windows but spacious and comfortable. A true old Morocco experience. The hosts, Karina and Fouad and their three boys, treated us like family. Excellent food and friendly hospitality. I would stay there again. Almost no daylight in the area. If you want open skies this place is not for you.
Tobias (10/5): An amazing riad with very kind and helpful employees - The family and employees are very kind and helpful. We arrived 8 hours later than expected due to a flight delay. Therefore, they had to drive to the airport twice. This was no problem at all for the riad. When we finally arrived at the end of the evening, they had kept their restaurant open and they made sure we could still have a 3-course meal even though all customers already left. This truly was the best restaurant we ate at during our 10 day stay in Morocco. On top, the view from the rooptop of the riad is spectacular.

Teresa (10/5): Wonderful stay . Beautiful family owned with pride Riad - Loved the cedar and tiles everywhere. The room is hugh and “ white glove “ clean.. right in the heart of the Medina. The family owned Riad is constantly (and quietly) improving with an extension to the property. It is expansive and the owner will give you a tour with explanations of the intricacies of the construction process. All the hard work, the laying of the tile and cedar planks. The long term process is Amazing!! We loved that we received a wonderful stay and a Riad construction lesson. To that we say “ respect “ and thank you. Nothing. All was great As with the médinas, the first time getting to the Riad is difficult. Afterwards it’s easy. The host will help and even meet you at the parking garage. Just keep in touch with them.

Josefien (10/5): Exceptional - An absolute recommend! This is a Riad where you can truly feel the warmth and the love of this family and how they put it in this riad! We stayed here for two nights and it was wonderful. The rooms are exquisite and it feels a bit like staying in a palace. The woodwork was done by hand and is truly impressive! They go all out to make you feel welcome. We were a bit overwhelmed by hasslers who wanted to show us the way when we arrived to the medina but they were nice enough to wait for us outside. We made a little mistake with our reservation and it was easily solved and corrected. Also when leaving they made sure we found the bus stop allright! The breakfast is very good as well. The family also owns a restaurant which is the best food we've eaten in Morocco. Definitely try the family's specialties, chicken pastilla and the lamb tajine. We loved to go back in time and enjoy the sunset at the terrace which is amazing. They are making the riad bigger atm and might also put a pool in the future, which will make staying here unavoidable 🤭. Afzan (9/5): A lovely property in the heart of the medina - The staff could not do enough for you. They were personable and helpful. The property is in the medina itself but as you enter, you leave behind the chaos of the medina. What takes its place is quiet, calm in a beautiful building which the owners have obviously taken the time and care to restore and build. Breakfast was abundant and delicious! They also own a restaurant nearby; once again the food and service was outstanding. We only stayed a night and really enjoyed our experience. The shower does spread out onto the rest of the bathroom which could be looked into; if I stayed longer it would start to bother me

Marko (9/5): Little heaven in old medina streets - Beautiful Riad with a very nice owner. Riad is renovated with love and everything seems new so we really enjoyed it. Owners went out of his way to accommodate us with a vegan breakfast - everything was home made and delicious. It's very close to one of the exits out of medina where you can catch a taxi. It's a bit hard to spot it at first but the owner put signs in surrounding streets so it is easy to find it. It was really not an issue for us.

View from the rooftop is amazing but we were very disappointed that we found plastic chairs and some normal restaurant tables up there instead of some nice place to spend evening there with no wish to go in the bed ….we spent hours and hours on rooftop in some other riad in Fes so we can really compare what can be done for not so much money we think….a huge difference for guests ?! But this is only our point of view!?

The family and - The property has been exquisitely done with amazing attention to detail. It is really like a palace. The food served by the family is too good! You will have a feast for breakfast. So many dishes! They also run a very nice restaurant nearby (called Dar Hatim) that was also delicious. We went there for dinner twice. Everything was great! The only thing is it will hard to find like anything in Fes, since GPS mobile signal is poor in the narrow streets. So I suggest having the riad staff/owner pick you up from the train or some central location.

The operator provides valued information and links you with the city tour service. The operator was very helpful and makes you feel home. Abdus (10/5): fantastic hosts, fantastic location, amazing delicious home cooked food made by Hatim’s parents. if you want to visit Fe - the hosts were amazing, very attentive to all our needs. I can’t recommend them highly enough. their son Hatim which the restaurant Dar Hatim the s named after, was a fantastic host too. he spoke to us and made us feel comfortable. The only negative, and I maybe being a little picky here, there was no tv in the room. But honestly that is not a negative as some may not want a tv in the room.

Don’t use a tour guide even if one recommended by the owner - it is a small family business and INE can tell the owners are working hard to have a successful business and legacy for their children I strongly discourage guests from using the local tour guides, even the one suggested and booked by the owners of the Riad. The owner said the price was 300, the man charged me 400 and showed me nothing I could not find myself walking along in the area. plus they work on commission and make money when they show you places and you do shopping. so they take you to tourist places where they will make money off you. in my case, the guide also totally lied about the transport to my next location and I made a decision based on trusting his local knowledge.l; this was a scam.

Verified traveler (10/5): Charming Riad, Warm Hospitality - I had the pleasure of staying at the Riad for a few nights. It is authentically and tastefully decorated. The hosts were very generous and welcoming. The food was delightful. The owner also accompanied me for hours visiting shops to help me secure local prices on some of the traditional items I was looking to purchase. I’m really happy that I opted for the Riad over a more western hotel in the city. Definitely recommended.
