Guest Reviews
- SootySweep (10/5): Amazing staff made the best weekend!!!! - This is our second visit we love the location, the hotel is lovely, clean and everything you need for a enjoyable stay, but mainly a massive shout out to all the staff, they are all so lovely very friendly and will do anything to help, the manager is such a lovely guy, nothing too much trouble and goes out of his way to make you have a fantastic stay.
The food is amazing always have breakfast and evening meal,it's lovely homecooked very tasty food and very reasonably priced,my husband loves the haggis at breakfast.
Our sincere thanks again for a lovely stay.
See you again very soon. We had no complaints whatsoever.
- Ian (7/5): Nice Hotel, but rooms a bit sad. - We were greeted by receptionist Hellena & given our keys to room 22 in the annexe opposite the car park. The room was a bit dated & sad. The furnishings were old & the bathroom needed a face-lift. The shower was temporarmental , either dripping cold or powerful & extremely hot
The room rate didn't include breakfast. This you paid extra on checkout, which I found a bit odd.
The breakfast room had coffee & tea in a flask like at a corporate event, which was very weak , but the member of staff made us a cafeteria of coffee on request.
A full basic breakfast was £10:95 extra on top of your room rate, which was reasonable, but found it strange that you could enhance your breakfast from the menu at an extra cost.
Beans £1, hash browns £1, mushrooms £1 toast additional cost!
Very strange! Room furnishings, shower, breakfast menu & add ons.

- Philip (10/5): Friendly and great value hotel - Friendly and well-run hotel in the middle of the charming town of Moffat. There was ample parking at the back of the property. Price was very reasonable and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast - I recommend the Cullen skink Nothing
- Thomas Peter (9/5): -
- Trevor (8/5): - recent refurbishment to a high standard nothing
- Phil (9/5): Perfect spot in central Moffat. - Lovely hotel in central Moffat. Staff super helpful, excellent food and comfortable rooms. Car park at rear perfect for cars and bikes. Shower was a bit weak, but that’s being VERY picky. I’d highly recommend this hotel!

- Rennie (9/5): Stayed for 5 days. Excellent short break - It was a lovely small hotel right in the centre of town. Breakfast was really nice. Had a meal in restaurant very good. Very clean lovely stay. We took our dog and the dog friendly rooms were on the ground floor and the door opened onto the patio.

Can't fault it friendly staff lovely decorated room which was spotless very comfortable
Food in the restaurant was excellent

- Martin (6/5): Could have been better! - It had a good bar and parking Considering the single room was £90 a night I had to take two cold showers as there was no hot water!
- Paul (8/5): -
- DAVID (10/5): excellent location and very nice public areas. - Excellent service and very friendly staff.
- Steve (5/5): Fair not really worth the money. - Location hotel nice in main areas Room very dated, bathroom was very old poor standard. Didnt have any hot water for two days. I was staying with friends on motorcycles so adequate. If i had been with my wife she would not have stayed with no hot water. Has to have cold showers dancing in bath to try and get wet with cold water.
- Ronnie (10/5): - The staff there were absolutely amazing. They could not do enough for us. I would to thank Hannah and Kerian, such professional individuals, great criac and credit to the industry. Nothing. Great experience, great hotel.
- Alan (9/5): Overall a good hotel with friendly staff. - Good breakfast and friendly staff. Room was comfortable.± There was no heating in the bedroom and my wife felt a bit chilly when going to bed and getting up in the morning

- Stuart (8/5): -
- Mary (9/5): Will certainly be back. Thank you - Always very friendly, helpful and attentive. Bedroom and bathroom very clean and comfortable which is so important. The rear courtyard could be made more pleasant . Lots of stairs with luggage can be awkward .
- William (10/5): - From check-in onwards the staff were really nice. The food was excellent. The room was fresh, spacious and clean. What's not to like? A great place to stay and eat.
- Hazel (8/5): - Staff really helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Facilities were good and central location Weak wifi and data in our dog friendly room at the back of the hotel, but not a great problem for a single night.
- Mariana (10/5): Elegancia y calma en un hospedaje - Es un lindo hotel en el centro del pueblo

Great location
- Marc (10/5): Comfortabel verblijf. - Super netjes en mooi ingericht. Personeel doet echt zijn best om het je naar je zin te maken. Parkeren achter het hotel. Alles boven verwachting. Niets op aan te merken.
- John (9/5): Saved the best until last - Well positioned within the town with off street parking , greeted by friendly staff and co owner , with comfortable , spotlessly clean modern rooms, coffee / tea / bottled water a lot of thought has gone into providing a good experience , well priced and good food made this hotel an excellent choice and a great end to our weeks touring trip
- Roger (9/5): Halfway house heaven - Lovely position on main street with private parking on site. Garden room was spotless and spacious which was just what was needed after a day’s driving. Excellent dinner and freshly cooked breakfast were the cherries on our cake! Further work required in enclosed back areas
- 852greigp (10/5): Super friendly staff - Brilliant experience

- James (10/5): Offering service above and beyond our expectations. - All the Staff were very welcome during a trying time for us and gave us extra accommodation and kindness throughout our 3-night stay at the hotel. We could not recommend them highly enough! Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): Excellent staff - thank you. - We wanted a couple of days away to have a walk up Ettrick Pen Hill and Moffat fitted the bill.
The hotel was ideally located in the centre of town and we got parked in the private car park.
The most impressive thing about the place is the friendliness of the staff. They treated you like an old friend, would do anything for you and were pleasant in every respect.
The food in the restaurant was lovely and the prices, including the bar, were very reasonable. The choice at breakfast was also excellent.
The room was large and was tastefully decorated - just like the website photos. We are being picky here, but the window in the room was old and impossible to open and close. Being even pickier, the headboard for the bed was attached to the wall, not the bed, and the long mirror was in a dark corner.
- Barbara (10/5): Very pleasant stay after a long gruelling journey. - Very friendly and helpful staff and management. Enjoyed the evening meal and breakfast. Room was cozy and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Jean (10/5): Excellent - Great price great food fantastic staff
- william (9/5): - Good hotel The staff at the hotel wear all great
- Resort769674 (10/5): Absolutely Great Base For Motorcycling Around The Borders. Highly Recommend - What a great hotel in the heart of Moffat. The Hotel Owner & staff could simply not do enough to make our four day stay outstanding. The hotel is immaculate from the bedrooms to the bar & dinning room. As a group of motorcyclist the secure parking behind the hotel was invaluable with the garden rooms leading directly out to the parked bikes. This made unloading an absolute ease. There is no need to describe the many bike routes arounf Moffat ... Just point your bike and go you really cannot fail. Top shout out to Claudios Restaurant only 5mins walk from the Annandale.
- Donald (10/5): Great hotel for bikers with excellent food. - Great location, food was excellent, staff were very friendly wifi in rooms not very good
- John (8/5): -
- Nicholas (8/5): Excellent base for a motorbike holiday around Moffat - Staff were excellent, very friendly & helpful, at reception, and in the restaurant and bar. Moffat is a biker Mecca, and the hotel accommodate this well, with parking in a car park at the back (not secure, but very private).
- David (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Excellent quality and a good price - Location in centre of Moffat is ideal as a halfway point for us to the Highlands.
Staff are friendly and efficient and the food quality and price is excellent. The dog-friendly rooms are all very dark with no view however they are very good for access
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Mary (8/5): - Stayed b4 liked the location very central rooms are maybe a bit dated especially bathroom but don't mind the hotel is older but still clean and comfortable I was happy with room can't say much that didn't suit us
- Graham (9/5): - The owners were extremely kind and friendly. The room was lovely and clean and tidy with all the little extras i needed. N/A
- Russ (10/5): - staff excellent,room superb,
- Murdo (10/5): A great hotel, very central location. - Decor was lovely - newly decorated and clean.
Staff very helpful.
- Stephanie (9/5): Friendly and welcoming with relaxing atmosphere - Nicely situated on the high street with plenty of free parking
Lovely large courtyard room, with comfortable beds and bedding.
Relaxing bar area and restaurant. Evening meal and breakfast was delicious.
Rob and his team couldn’t be more helpful.
Would definitely stay again. Nothing
- John (9/5): Great Hotel in the Centre of Moffat - We were greeted by a genuinely warm welcome by staff that really seemed to care about our stay. We stayed in a well appointed room. Enjoyed a few drinks in evening in the bar, slept well and a fabulous breakfast the next morning. Highly recommend this hotel we will be back.
- Jim (8/5): -

- Michael (7/5): A comfortable overnight stay to visit the Moffat Christmas Market. - Central location. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Parking at the hotel. Exceptionally the restaurant was not open for an evening meal. However there where other hotels nearby where we were able to eat.
- Paul (10/5): Great stay,perfect - Great staff Nothing
- Loraine (10/5): Staff lovely was very chilled. - Hotel was very central staff were lovely.
- Jenny (9/5): - Great breakfast, just remember a side plate when serving the toast
- Carl (8/5): Good - It was a good place to stay and very pleasant staff there 👍 All
- Linda (9/5): Very very good with friendly staff - Easy access good parking No lift so had walk upstairs but managed ok
- Helen-Mary (7/5): We were made very welcome at the Annandale and enjoyed our stay. - The staff were great and the owner changed our room without asking when he realised my husband had mobility issues. The new decor was very smart. I appreciate the hotel has had a major renovation and the bedroom itself was very nice but the bathroom needs an update.
- Josephine (7/5): Enjoyable weekend had by all of us at this hotel. Wood stay again. - Lovely and helpful staff. Clean and quiet rooms. Food was very good too. Deco in the rooms was a bit tired but very clean.
- Alastair (9/5): Very enjoyable. - The staff were friendly, helpful and relaxed. They were excellent.
The breakfast was good and very good value.
The hotel is in the centre of the town. The bed and pillows were too firm for me.
The windows in the room is old and difficult to open/ close.
- Derek (7/5): Fine for an overnight stay but I would have been disappointed if I had booked for several nights - Surprisingly the breakfast wasn’t included. That was ok as it meant I didn’t pay for what I didn’t want. Parking was good. The room was a bit small for the price and quite a maze to get to. I was offered help with my bags though. Although recent renovations have helped still some work to go as bits such as the stairs are still a bit tatty.
- Bob (8/5): Very good - Shower pressure
- KENNETH (9/5): -
- Mr Wolffy (10/5): - Comfy rooms, good location and extremely friendly staff. N/A.
- Darrenn (9/5): Great accommodation and location. Definitely be back - Very good and very clean The bed fills the room with little room to move around but it still very good
- AlainConstable (10/5): Very friendly and welcoming. Forgot to say, food was superb ! - Fantastic Friendly Service.
Four of us were staying in the village of Moffat for a week and after going out for a day we like to find a nice bar to sit in and have a drink.
We found the ideal place in the Annandale Arms Hotel bar.
After a try around other places in town we felt extremely welcome and comfortable with a very reasonably priced drinks range, so we decided to spend the rest of the week for end of day beers.
As it was the lead up to a busy New Years Eve for them the staff remained engaged and helpful.
A particular mention to ( I think it was ) Dan for his kind hospitality, especially New Years Day after a long night for them, and also Keiran, both who were always quick to serve and ask about our day and travels so far.
Almost forgot, the food was superb !
Highly recommended and although it’s a long way from the Isle of Wight we will certainly be back!
- Globtra (10/5): Great New Years Eve break with friends - Having stayed earlier in the year with work, my wife and I, along with two friends booked to stay at New Year. Spacious room again, great value for money for a 3 star hotel.
Team were all very friendly , great food in the restaurant.
New Years Eve party , beautiful buffet with lots of options. Very good considering the amount of people there. Very busy but enough tables and chairs for everybody booked and there were extra seats in the bar. Bouncer on the door. Loved the band , had everybody dancing. We have already booked for next year.
If we are being picky , it would be good if they make more dance floor area though there were around 40/50 people dancing at any one time, for which the space was big enough. Overall enjoyed the night , ticket price for what was included was very reasonable. Thanks for a good weekend
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Location, good meal in evening, Large room with twin beds Cold bathroom, as radiator did not work, clearly out of action for some time. Very poor shower - just a dribble of water, so I didn't bother with it.
Also automatic lights outside bedroom activated with any movement outside, which kept me awake
- Ian (8/5): - The location was good with private parking. The room was comfortable and we had a good breakfast. Decor a bit tired.
- Rose (8/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- X4234WIdavidb (6/5): Not what we expected - Went to the New Years bash and was disappointed there were far too many people in there you couldn’t get a seat we were there at 7/20 and it was packed we only just got a seat in the bar area which we had our back to everything. The food was good but we queued up15 minutes right down the room with people squeezing past with their plates and the staff squeezing past with plates of hot and cold food The band were good very good got people dancing not a big Dance floor though and you had to walk through it to go downstairs to the toilets which were not very good one cubicle in the mens which had a broken door The bacon sandwiches were on dry tea cakes and disappointing. This is my version and opinion I wasn’t impressed with it I would not return the little things spoiled it for us
- Murray (10/5): Nice mid week getaway, great looking hotel, the food was also great , definitely worth a stay - The decor was lovely
- john (10/5): -
- Kathleen (9/5): Xmas 2025 - This was our second stay in December, en route to and from Angus,. This second stay was more enjoyable than the first, purely down to the sleeping accommodation. Na
- Andrew (10/5): First stay but wont be our last - Great location with free parking. We had a garden room which was comfortable and clean. The staff couldnt have been nicer and breakfast was tasty and plentiful Bathroom could do with an update but it was clean and a good size
- Kathleen (7/5): Half way stop to Angus - Room 101 was a bit cold . Bathroom was dated. Bedroom was small.
However staff were very pleasant.
Evening meal lovely. The lounge has been changed to an extension of thr bar. In my personal opinion - to the detriment.
- Adam (8/5): -
- peter (6/5): Good central hotel with nice public areas and excellent breakfast. Rooms can be cold. - Breakfast was exceptional with a good choice of food. Served by very nice staff. Dining room was convivial and nicely decorated.
Location is right on the high street, central and with ample private parking.
Public areas and bar are comfy and nicely decorated. Pleasant area to relax. Good internet. Rooms can be cold when central heating is not operating. Windows are of the old fashioned wooden sliding sash type and are only single glazed (single glazed in Scotland for heavens sake!). Hotel appeared to turn off the heating in the early hours of the night/morning. We were, however provided with a plug-in electric heater.
- Mathew (9/5): Clean, central, quiet, great staff. - Extremely clean, friendly staff Nothing. Was great.
- Mark (8/5): Great time - Staff were friendly. Hotel was clean and fairly priced! Breakfast was great. The double bed was a tad small for 2 people. That’s all I have to whinge about other than that it’s a great place to stay
- Malcolm(Jock) (10/5): A pleasant - Clean tidy and pleasant staff Paying for breakfast
- Jayne (8/5): -
- Yaroslav (10/5): -
- Darren (8/5): The rooms were pleasant but the staff make the place. Really enjoyed the food too - Great location and nice food. Staff were really great and very attentive. Great value for money
- Lynne (10/5): - Lovely place beautiful location Parking
Lovely big room comfy bed.
Beautiful decor in each
Wonderful friendly staff
Exceptional food
2nd time there will keep coming regular Having to leave
- Mary (10/5): Amazing value , very friendly, very comfortable and clean. - Friendly, clean , very comfy bed and food and choices excellent value TV reception poor
- BUBBLEYBUM (8/5): Christmas party stay over - We were visiting this hotel as they were hosting a Christmas party.
From the moment we stepped into the Hotel we were treated so warmly and when we checked in we were personally taken to our room ( nice touch ) our room was lovely , homely and warm and cosy lovely tea and coffee station with big mugs fab . There was a brilliant hairdryer too . The bathroom was sparkly white and spotlessly clean .
We had a few hours to fill before getting ready for the party so we headed down to the cosy bar area and had a few refreshments . It was so relaxing and cosy , the service was outstanding , friendly and welcoming.
We got ready and headed down to the party , the party room was beautifully decorated and the food was lovely too and lots of it !! We had a fantastic night and danced all night to the outstanding band.
In the morning we had booked breakfast and again greeted with a big smile and friendly hospitality, my husband had the full Scottish breakfast which he said was the best breakfast he’s ever had in a hotel , it was hot and very tasty .
We thank Rob and his team very much for the fantastic night and warm hospitality and wish you every success for the future.
We will definitely be returning soon.
