- LoveTravel42713 (10/5): Special Occasion - cleanliness of room and hotel, courteous staff, great breakfast with enough time in the mornings without feeling rushed
- Claretha (9/5): Thank you for excellent hospitality - Had variety and not crowed excellent selection of food
- Brandon34 (8/5): - The room was very nice and comfortable. Staff came in to clean the room which was great also. Having to park in a small parking garage.

- chrissys501 (8/5): One night stay - Wonderful staff. Clean and modern property. Normal breakfast for a free breakfast. The only downside is the Tavern next door was busy due to it being a weekend. People were hanging out in the parking lot behind the tavern and hotel.
- Eleanor (10/5): Great stay - The lady, Ieshia (spelling) at the front desk was awesome. Kind and bery accommodating.
- Traci (9/5): Great staff, clean rooms & safe parking - Great location No microwave in room!
Confusion with Booking.com hotel stay payment.
- Valerie (10/5): - The layout of the room None
- Mollie (10/5): -
- Kassandra (6/5): Friendly staff, but now worth the price - It was clean and staff were friendly! Unfortunately, what you get for the price just doesn’t match the cost. The breakfast was disappointing.. $8 per person, I expected at least fresh eggs, not powdered ones.
We ended up getting locked out of our room when the door lock broke. The maintenance guy was incredibly kind and helpful, and I really appreciated how quickly he tried to fix the situation. What surprised me was that the manager never stepped in to help at all. She seemed more focused on directing everyone else instead of assisting guests who were clearly stuck. Maybe that’s her management style, but it didn’t leave a great impression.
They did offer a discount for the inconvenience, which I appreciated, but overall the experience just wasn’t worth the price. I won’t be returning.
- Zoe (10/5): Enjoyable hotel and amazing staff - Everything was really close so it made walking around the town easy and enjoyable! Nothing, loved everything about my stay.
- Ariella (10/5): Great place to stop over in a cute town! - Beautiful and renovated Nothing
- Dustin (7/5): Would like to come back when construction is complete. - Good location near nice restaurants Construction nearby. Loud street next to room
- Benny (1/5): Terrible!!!!!!! - Nothing Nothingl
- DominatorDom (10/5): Great Job Hyatt - Definitely one of the nicest stays. The staff is amazing and the hotel is well maintained. The beds are comfortable and everything is super clean. The recent floor upgrades make the rooms cleaner and more appealing. Great job Hyatt.
- Kira (10/5): My stay was excellent! This was the first time I’ve every stayed at a Hyatt! - My experience was superb, the staff were very attentive and the facilities were immaculate. There should be a microwave in each room. I did not like the fact there was one microwave on each floor for all the guest to use. I must say the staff kept it clean with it being open to everyone.

- RobinAlysse (10/5): Exceptional Staff and Great Service - I had a very pleasant stay at the Hyatt Place Sumter, largely due to the exceptional staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit.
We had an issue with the blackout shades in our room, and a staff member was sent up immediately to repair them; quick, efficient, and much appreciated. As a Premier member, we also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, which was a nice perk.
Unfortunately, due to the weather and the circumstances of my visit (I was in town for a funeral), we didn’t get the opportunity to explore or enjoy the downtown area. That said, I would definitely return to Sumter under better circumstances and would not hesitate to stay at this Hyatt again.
Overall, a great experience, and I will absolutely continue choosing Hyatt properties when traveling.
- J7426QNjohnc (10/5): The dedicated staff help this location stand out from the crowd. - The professional staff and their commitment to a positive guest experience continue to set Hyatt Place, Sumter apart. From check-in, house keeping, the breakfast crew and check-out, these folks take obvious pride and ownership for their roles to make this hotel stand out from the pack.

- Jane (10/5): I enjoyed a lovely stay! Downtown Sumter, SC is so nice! - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I love that I could walk to local restaurants easily. The gym was also very nice! N/A
- Erin (10/5): -
- Travis (6/5): - For the money that I paid, the room was clean and spacious, BUT there was NO HOT WATER!!! The water was lukewarm AT BEST...That wasn't a COMFORTABLE feeling for me or my wife
- Randolph (9/5): My stay was very satisfactory. - The breakfast was good. The location is great! The staff was very professional and nice. N/A
- Jeffords (10/5): -
- Corey (4/5): I expect more from Hyatt - Location was great The room could have been decent. Air conditioning was loud and disruptive. Room felt and smelled damp. The front door was hard to shut. The bathroom door was hard to open. The shower door was hard to open. The remote did not work even after a battery change that I sought out.
- Sharon (1/5): This hotel stole my $290. A person should not be charged for a service they did not receive. I never stayed on this nigh - I did not end up staying on this night but I was charged anyways. I came into town the night before and swapped my date. I was told over the phone on a recorded line that the night was cancelled. I believed the employee. It was not. I contacted the manager and asked her to refund the charges. She refused to. She said, “she did not want to lose the revenue.” I feel like this is stealing. The hotel owes me $290. I liked the property location and would have been a repeated customer. I was charged for the night and never stayed. I was told the reservation was cancelled however it was not. I spoke with the manager personally and asked her to fix the charge to my card. All she had to do was respond to an email from Booking.com and she would not.
- john (10/5): Thanks for great evening - Great time in Sumter. Hotel great location for shower. Everyone was friendly All good
- David (8/5): Short yet pleasant and clean - Very clean and very friendly staff I thought $8 for breakfast was a little ridiculous especially after spending that much for the room. I felt like it should’ve been complimentary

- justinsI4995NH (8/5): Parking challenges, but cozy and welcoming hotel - The hotel itself was nice and cozy, water pressure in the room was excellent and the lodgings were spacious enough we didn't feel cramped.
Parking was a bit of a hassle as there was construction next to the hotel, and the on-site night audit didn't gives us any guidance on parking so it took a bit to find a safe spot to leave that car that wouldn't get us ticketed.
The points used for the room were exceptionally low (3500 points) which was wonderful to have access to on this travel up north - Hyatt's budgeting of point costs for free stays is outstanding when compared to other chains like marriott or hilton that fleece program members by charging triple or quadruple the amount for even the most modest stays.
I was a titanium elite (almost ambassador level) for marriott bonvoy due to work travel frequency, and honestly, I didn't get a fraction of the points use that I have gotten just starting out with Hyatt and it shows.
- onewiki (10/5): One of the best Hyatt Place properties - The hotel is impeccably maintained; despite being seven years old, it feels brand new. Everything was spotless, and the breakfast was excellent. As a Globalist member, I appreciated the late checkout and the two bottles of water provided daily. I requested and was given 3M earplugs, which were far superior to generic ones from other hotels. The only minor drawback was an unexpected visit from housekeeping on the morning of our departure.

- sha987 (8/5): Nice hotel; new charge for bkfast stinks. - This is a very nice hotel in a pleasant area. We've stayed here several times on our way down to Florida. The customer service in particular is very personable and attentive. However, the new charge for breakfast is greatly disappointing as an added cost, and it will likely affect our decision on where to stay during this same trip in the future.

- YNJackson (6/5): Unfortunate Experience This Time - I've stayed at this property multiple times because I am originally from Sumter and have family there. I normally don't have any issues and love staying there. It is a nice property, great location, reasonably priced, and there is a free parking garage next to the property.
My husband and I stayed November 13-17 and this stay was not the usual standard. The employees were all great, as usual. However, there was no hot water in our room until our last morning. The showers were cool and not one word from staff or management. Not even an acknowledgement of the issue at check-out. It wasn't until I completed the post stay survey that I received any sort of acknowledgement of the issue. To her credit, the GM, Ms. Baker, did respond and let me know that they were aware of the issue and contacted their vendor on Sunday. She stated the vendor came out on Monday to fix the issue. This is true as we did have hot water on Monday morning before we checked out.
This is completely unacceptable to know your guests have no hot water, not say a word although you knew the vendor wouldn't be out until Monday, but still collect full payment. A gesture of allowing a free breakfast even would have been acceptable. It was poorly handled. I had to return to Sumter for the funeral the following weekend and did not stay here again, although it is my preference. What a shame because I like it here.
Things happen all the time and it is understandable. It's how management handles these unfortunate events that makes all the difference.
I still think the property is a great value and a really good option for the city. It's right next to Tuomey Hospital, which is where we needed to be.
- Chrise123nj (10/5): Out of their way, to wish you a great day! - Excellent breakfast, a spotless hotel, and a genuinely friendly staff — you really can’t ask for much more. I’d definitely stay here again. One moment that stood out was when a staff member not working behind the front desk went out of his way to wish me a great day. It may seem small, but it’s rare for behind-the-scenes employees to initiate that kind of kindness. I truly appreciated it, and it’s one of the reasons I’ll be returning.
- Roosevelt (10/5): - Encounter the problem with booking.com and the Hyatt hotel helped me resolve the issue!!!!!
- Cedric (8/5): - The location. I had two rooms booked on the same day and both rooms have to take shower in cold water. The fridge didn't work also.
- Samantha (1/5): It was very inconvenient that they didn’t have rubbing hot water - Location No hot or warm water could not wash
- j (1/5): Very very very disappointing and left with a medical issue due to smoking in rooms. - 1. Great location, in the heart of downtown
2. Free Parking deck provided
3. The property has great breakfast options but often times dishes were dirty and unclean to use. The breakfast staff was friendly and very helpful
4. Nice interior aesthetics 1. Allowance of animals - not registered as service animals.
2. Allowance of smoking inside rooms
3. Unfriendly staff and staff gossip about guests (very unprofessional)
5. Unresolved issue and lack of accountability on behalf of Hyatt representative
6. Mold and mildew in shower
7. Dirty/stained pillowcases.
8. Absolutely NO hot water for 3 days.
- Talbert (10/5): - The property was clean, quiet and friendly. This is a wonderful property in Downtown Sumter.
- SERGEANT R. FIELDS (8/5): -
- De’Metrius (10/5): -
- Ta'Neasha (10/5): - The customer service Nothing
- ENRICO (10/5): -
- jimmN6077GC (10/5): Would Recommend! - The staff exceeded expectations especially little Loretta. The room was clean and made us feel tight at home. The second morning’s breakfast was better than the first.

- G7398YJamyr (10/5): Comfy Cute Town - Sumter Downtown is a quaint small town. The hotel is very comfortable and offers all the comforts of home. Traveling with grandchildren the staff was so kind and sweet to them!
- Fernanda (10/5): -
- Ann Marie (7/5): The accommodations were great. Jason at the front desk when we checked in was fantastic. Friendly and attentive. However - It is a beautiful new building. No complaints about the rooms or the overall property. Not much to do close by
- Annie (9/5): We will stay here again - convenience to downtown and eating establishments
- Flyer67467156552 (10/5): Great Experience in Sumter - Great, as always. Tremendous staff and perfect location. I am never diassapointed staying at this location. Very satisfied
- Belinda (8/5): - Hotel is nice, and with it being right on the Main St, there are great dining options within walking distance. Enjoyed stay, but at the high price, I can't give an honest 5 stars because there weren't many perks....it was slightly disappointing that there wasn't any complimentary coffee in the lobby (as most nice hotels offer), and breakfast wasn't included. Still, we did enjoy our stay.
- Victoria (8/5): Nice hotel Downtown -
- Meagan (10/5): - The customer service is over the top! That I couldn't stay longer!
- Laurie (9/5): -
- Marcia (10/5): First Time in Sumter - Overall, it was a good stay. I appreciated that the parking was very convenient and there was no added fee for parking. The room was clean. The check-in staff was friendly.
- Terri (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay. We really enjoyed Jason and Loretta. Although all the staff was amazing we spent more time with them at the bar. We will be returning on our next trips to town.
One negative... the tv could use more channel options
- Brian (10/5): - Everything was fine no big deal
- Jessica (10/5): - Staff were extremely accommodating with unusual requests and very friendly. Breakfast was very good. Beds were comfortable. Rooms are spacious.
- Deborah (10/5): - Cookies are amazing, super friendly staff.
- lovell (10/5): - Very good service
- Brittani (4/5): Wasn’t that bad but also wasn’t the best - I liked how it looked driving up to it I didn’t like how the water was cold when trying to take a shower
- Lilav (10/5): Reasonably priced comfortable and safe place to stay in Sumter SC - Cleanliness and professional attitudes of the staff Shower water could have been hotter
Room 107 sink drainage is slow (9/4-9/7)
- Oliver (10/5): - Free parking, get staff, the manager and morning lady at the desk are so friendly and helpful. They're excellent
- thomas (9/5): -
- Ishara (10/5): - Clean room and staff was very nice.
- Mary (10/5): -
- Esperenta (10/5): -
- Monica (10/5): Coffee in the morning. - The staff was great, the breakfast was an additional $9 so we went to the Waffle House. The shops and cafes in the area were great. The pool was clean and warm. Great location in Sumter. All I wanted was a cup of coffee and was not able to get it unless I paid for breakfast.
- Stephen (10/5): - We love staying at this hotel, and have on several occasions. However, on this trip, the room had a few glitches. Some of the electrical outlets were not working and the Grab bar in the shower was loose. Other than that, we’ll be back!
- treasure (8/5): - Everyone was friendly and it’s literally the best hotel in sumter! Trust me..
- Ruth (10/5): -
- Donna (10/5): - Everything- from the great staff to a good location to clean & comfortable room!
- Sherice (9/5): -
- shipmm (10/5): Highly recommend - Great location and Wonderful Employees - We hosted an event at the Hyatt Place in Sumter Downtown and said there as well. The staff was great - very helpful and professional. The conference space we rented was great for our event and the rooms were nice as well. The location is great with walking distance to the downtown brewery and a few great restaurants too. I highly recommend the Hyatt Downtown Sumter if you are looking for a great place to stay!
- 145saraik (10/5): Hyatt Place Sumpter SC - Hotel is in a great location and walking distance to variety of dining. Comfortable beds and great breakfast. It also has an onsite bar.
- Roosevelt (10/5): - Customer service was fantastic and the young lady Jasmine working the desk was very helpful
- Cynthia (10/5): It was so nice. Staff was friendly. House keeping exceptional. - It was nice. The microwave being in the hall
- Galasso (7/5): -
- pmcrx (4/5): double reservation - The hotel was fine a little worn out but otherwise pleasant. The front desk personnel was trying to be helpful, but apparently my issue (two reservations) could not be resolved by them so a manager was needed. The manager never returned several of my calls so I have paid for two rooms having only used one. Live and learn.
- Arthur (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Everything was to our liking. Very satisfied with our stay
- Jessica (10/5): Good nights rest after a long travel - Super friendly staff, coffee in the room(a must-have for me, and great bedding!
