- RUOYU (10/5): 是来日本住过最喜欢的房子,会推荐给朋友 - 地理位置非常好,房子很整洁很有风韵,设施齐全而且很安静
- Fabio (8/5): - Very spacious , well decorated property … rooms were spacious and shower house fantastic . Great checkin service from the Rinn Kyoto Station … good location not in the center of Gion (too busy) but very close to it The kitchen is not really a kitchen , I was expecting to cook one night, but they don’t have enough utensils for it …

- Marc (10/5): Beautiful ryokan-style accommodation in an excellent location - Beautiful location with comfortable beds and great amenities close to the city center. My friends and I absolutely loved this place, it is a beautiful accommodation with a traditional theme and style. We were 5 people - 2 had their own beds in their own room and 3 had their own futon in another room. The place had 2 toilets and 1 bathroom. The location is close to a bunch of restaurants, shops, konbinis and very close to a train station. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a spot within Kyoto! More of a nitpick than anything, but the door lock had a numeric keypad, yet we could only use (2) key cards - it was a bit challenging sharing the 2 key cards amongst 5 people, we definitely would've preferred having a key code instead so that anyone could enter without having to use key cards.
- Nova (10/5): - This was a perfect place for my family of four, including my two teens. 2 bedrooms, upstairs bathroom, downstairs bathroom and I loved the soaking tub and my family loved the shower pressure. Staff were so friendly at the check in location near the train station and they put you in a free taxi to your place. Location was wonderful and I loved the street we were on and two blocks on the same street is a delicious crepe shop called Waco Crepes! Enjoy and have fun! Great value for our stay, cheaper than an Airbnb we were in for our last night in Kyoto and just as good!

- Michele (10/5): Great - really reccomend - Lovely - very confortable , clean , great neighbourhood in a very cute street - lots of restaurants etc nearby Second bedroom has a bed - that my son found not confortable - not because it was a tatami but because of plastic -

- Sindre (10/5): Koselig, autentisk Japansk, ryddig, renslig, helt fantastisk - Veldig autentisk Japansk hus som var rent, ryddig og koselig. 10/10 opplevelse Ingenting
- Jeannine (10/5): Stayed for 7 nights. We found the space adequate for 4 adults. Being westerners we had to adjust to Japanese style seati - Location was perfect. Good size for 4 people Nothing

- Yusuf (10/5): - They provided extra coffee capsules upon request, staff is so kind
- Victoria (8/5): A well-located machiya in Kyoto - This machiya has the advantage of being managed by a hotel group, the staff of which provided very good service and support. It is well situated on the edge of Gion with sightseeing and dining options nearby. The sleeping quarters on the second floor are very good. The layout of the main floor could be better and the low chairs for sitting on the tatami and dining were very uncomfortable compared to many other machiyas we have stayed in.
- Margherita (7/5): Needs improvement - The location is very convenient, close to the centre and in a very quaint area. The property itself is also very nice. Even though we liked the location and property itself, at the time of our stay there were some construction works being done in front of the Rinn. They’d start around 6am with drilling sounds that would wake us up every morning. This really ruined our stay and made it impossible to relax and fully enjoy our stay. We complained about it with the property management but they seemed not to care. We had to check out one day in advance because the situation was unbearable. In addition to that, the property offers change of beddings but they don’t clean the property during your stay. At the end of our stay the property was very dusty and it was extra uncomfortable as three beds are directly on the floor.
- Gary (9/5): Apart from some minor inconveniences, very pleasant. - Nice, Japanese-styled two-bedroom townhouse in an excellent Gion district location (traditional style house, quiet residential area). 1) A near total lack of chest of drawers/wardrobe space. We were there for six nights, and that's too long to be living out of mostly unpacked suitcases. What fitted wardrobe space there was, was completely full of bedding material not being used during our stay.
2) If a toaster was provided, we never found it.
- Arunabh (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): Excellent location, comfortable and quiet unit—and strong check-in process. - Person who checked me in was excellent.
They also delivered our luggage. Wood floors are pained black, which is fine, but they need a touch up. That’s my only real negative. Everything else was great. Would stay there again.
- Raewyn (9/5): Superb location and beautiful authentic apartment - The location is superb. The check in information was clearly communicated and easy. The space is clean and pleasant. We were three couples so one couple needed to sleep in the living area that you have to walk through to get to the bathroom
- Paul (9/5): Very pleasant authentic stop over for 4 people. No complaints as it was perfect for us - Superb response at the key collection Nothingb
- Mitchell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (8/5): Great location in a traditional house, very helpful staff - Traditional house
Well equipped and comfortable bedding
Good heating
Professional and very responsive staff
Cleaning partway through stay
Wonderful location Low seating difficult for my mother
Traditional house, so my husband kept bumping his head in doorways
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (7/5): Good -
- Yang (9/5): Superb -
- Shanaaz (9/5): Great stay - Comfortable beds, place was very clean. Location was a bit far from centre
- Maha (9/5): Superb -
- James (9/5): A great base for exploring Kyoto. - Excellent location, great facilities. The Rinn staff were very helpful and accommodating. Although there was a stove and a refrigerator, the kitchen is not really set up for cooking. There were no knives, and the cook surface itself was the only available work space.
- Kimberly (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (9/5): Superb - Nice refurbished townhouse for a family of 4. Having to check-in at another location, which we didn't realise until we reached the townhouse itself. Yes it's written in the check-in details but not emphasized well enough
- Tomislav (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and style of the building
- Arkady (7/5): Good - Great location, overall good condition and seems like recently renovated house. The house is likely great for a group of adults. While stayed there with a toddler happened to be a bit of a trouble. Tatami space look nice and interesting on the photos, but to us they felt a little uncomfortable to sit - unlikely a negative, but something to consider if you decided to choose this property.
- Aron (9/5): Superb -
- Hans (8/5): Traditional. Convenient. Family oriented. Loved the onsen. - Location. Quiet street. Close to everything. Loved the onsen. Not a lot of bench space. Not really practical for a family of four. Not enough closet facilities or hanging towels.
- Chanya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maya (8/5): Very good - The house was very lovely, The kitchen is very small, no where to dry the dishes,
and when you cook something all the apartment gets smoky.
check out time is very early 1000 am with no option to delay.
- Darlene (10/5): We had a fantastic time and this accommodation exceeded our expectations. - Real Japanese experience, a big property with excellent facilities. Futons as well. Nothing.
- Alexia (10/5): Exceptional -

- Gregory (9/5): Fantastic apartment style stay - Arriving at Kyoto station, we walked about a block to a small hotel owned by the same Rinn group (as instructed). They checked us in, then gave us a ride to the property in one of their own livery vehicles. It was straightforward, personable, and easy.
Once we entered the apartment, we were impressed. It matched the screenshots pretty perfectly. The entrance area is fairly large, and other reviews mention it's got a dirt floor. It's not dirt, but some kind of gritty, clay-like stone that is relatively soft and can generate grit and dust. However, this is the entrance area. So long as you take your shoes off as you should, and if you take care with your luggage on the way in (i.e. don't put flat surfaces, e.g. duffels, on the stone floor and wipe the wheels for any roller bags you've dragged through it), you won't have any problems with "dust" or "dirt". That said, I appreciated the heads up provided by these reviews: when we entered, I immediately put our bags down on the "interior" floor (not the stone entry area floor) before taking my shoes off and stepping into the interior floor area. In any case, this gave us zero problems; we had no issues with dirt or dust.
The bedrooms and living room had heating/cooling units, which worked great and kept things comfortable. It was great having in-unit laundry. We were only a half-block from some konbini and other things at the end of the street, another half block from a subway station entrance: Kiyomizu-Gojo on the Keihan line, particularly convenient for Fushimi Inari Taisha and Uji, but otherwise requiring changes/walks to get to things.. You can get to Kyoto station with one change, so that was nice, since we used the subway to get back to the station after checking out (they don't provide ride service on checkout). Gion was only a few minutes' walk away. We tragically ran out of time to visit Kiyomizu Dera, but this place is convenient to it. All my complaints are only very minor things. The kitchen sink faucet was a little wobbly (the base where it entered the basin wasn't firmly attached, so when you touched it to turn it on or swivel it, the whole thing would wiggle a little, separate from the sink). There was a single folding stand with around a dozen coat hangers on which to hang things, and that was it. It would have been nice to have some hooks in the shower changing room for towels or a proper place to hang coats (maybe there was and we missed them?). As it was, this folding stand was holding coats, damp towels, and drying laundry, all at once. A lack of storage/shelves/hooks meant our things tended to be piled up on tables, which made things look a little messier than we've have liked. However, none of these small things prevented us from considering this lodging our favorite during our trip! The street photo I added is from the lodging's street, but after crossing the cross-street (Kakimachi-dori?) to the north, less than a half-block away. Our block was the same in terms of narrowness and character of the buildings, but lacked the patterned stones.
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Pau (9/5): This house is located quite near to the heritage area. It is also well equipped and comes with a large dining area. We e - It is well equipped and close to the heritage area in Kyoto.
- Wilson (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed every monent of our stay, three teenage boys who all said they had their best nights sleep on the - The professionalism of the staff, the location was excellent close to train, convenience stores, attractions and restaurants.could walk everywhere. We liked everything and didn’t want to leave
- Jonathan (10/5): Great traditional Japanese home! - We loved the aesthetic, the beds, and bathroom. The fact that we were driven from check in to the Machiya was very nice. The entry room was a bit gritty and the seats at the living room table were a little uncomfortable after a while.
- Sam (10/5): Everything went smoothly and everyone was so pleased. - Front desk staff at the station hotel were very helpful. They took out luggage to the Unit while we spent time shopping and sightseeing before check in. It was raining and they offered umbrellas to use and leave at the unit. We could have used English instructions on how to use the washer and dryer.
- Mert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (9/5): Kyoto - what a city. We loved our 5 days in Kyoto and the Rinn Kiyomizu Gojo Machiya South made it even more enjoyable. - The location was great, the small intimate neighbourhood close to a railway line meant that we could move around easily. The apartment was well equipped, light filled and spacious, with comfortable beds. The landing separated the two bedrooms and provided privacy. The kitchen area was well equipped with crockery, cutlery etc but there was no bench space - a suggestion might be a small folding shelf above the rubbish bin.
The seating area in the dining room was unused by us, as the seats were uncomfortable.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the entrance foyer is very dusty, due to the material used in the flooring. While it provides a necessary junction between outside and inside, one suggestion might be to seal the surface, so that the character of the floor remains but the sandy dust is reduced.
This sounds like we didn’t enjoy our time at your property but we did indeed love it. It’s just a few suggestions to make it even better.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Su (8/5): Modern with Japanese traditional style - The location is not exactly central but was good. Walkable to the shops, restaurants, bus station and train station nearby. The reception where you collect the keys is quite far away from the property - one had to be transported by car to the property. The property is modern and the size is suitable for 3 persons which has 2 rooms, a dining area, a living area (at the entrance) and a shower & 2 separate toilets. However, the kitchen area was quite small for cooking. Overall, the cleanliness of the property was good and well maintained. During the room make up throughout our 5 nights stay, they did not replenish the items which were used such as the laundry detergent.
- Todd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): A place to call home for a few days for a family of 4. - Clean, good amenities, great location, fantastic staff.
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Asmara (9/5): Superb - Location. Ambiance. Fascilities. Friendly staff Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent. Washer/dryer a bonus
Modern/clean Didn’t like the dirt in the entry. (Got on wheels of luggage, shoes etc)
No closet space (filled w linens and futons)
- Gina (8/5): Spacious, clean, tidy apartment in great location. - Great location. Good to break up our travel
with a self contained apartment, with access to washing machine and dryer! Efficient check in process close to Kyoto station. They can store luggage for the day and then order a taxi to the apartment.
- Samantha (8/5): Pleasent stay. - The entire house was quite clean. The entrance area of the house was topped with sand that is not so hygienic although the design was meant to be that way.
The check in counter was about 15mins taxi ride from the room where is too far away.
- Heng (1/5): worse experience in terms for stay in Japan, which is usually very high standard - location was good 1. from picking up the keys to the actual house is such a hassle, even though the staff show me the google map, but they have no idea that the english address that they provide on google map does not actually lead to the house, it just takes you within close proximity but it's really difficult to find, they probably punch in Japanese address which led to the actual place, but they have never tried typing in English, which google did not take you to the exact location.
2. The entrance of the house is like maddddd dirty, it has dirt all over, I meant inside the house, like literally dirt, I have never ever stayed in such a dirty place in Japan before in my life, Japanese hotels is known for cleaness.
3. Lastly, I booked the house for 4 adults and 2 children, I even put it on the booking information, but when I enter the house they did not even have sleeping mattress prepare for my kids, I called the front desk, and they told me children under 6 are not provided with beddings, in which I said I am more than willing to pay for extra bed sheets (because that's really all I need as I have found extra bed mattress folded in the closet, but without sheet and pillow case), to that their answer was straight up NO. like wtffff , yo all i asked is bed sheet and pillowcase, and I am willing to pay for them, and I even put them on the booking info, why do they wanna force me to share a tiny single bed with our kids...like yoooo wtf
- Adrienne (8/5): Wonderful 4 night stay. Close to Gion, shops and restaurants. Apartment is clean and modern. - Great location. property is modern and clean. would stay here again. Main floor had no comfortable place to sit. The chairs at the Japanese table were extremely uncomfortable - straight back and inflexible. They need to put a more flexible low chair and a couch or regular chairs in this room. Comfortable seating in the cold entryway is not helpful.
- Sheila (9/5): great place to stay in the Gion district - excellent location walkable to all the sites, facility was brand new.
- Georgi (10/5): Our stay was memorable, the house was so comfortable and conveniently located to everything. - Very spacious, perfect location, exquisite decor
