Guest Reviews
- cary (8/5): Seward / Resurrection Bay - great views of resurrection bay in seward!! cozy little BnB, they actually had us move to the Front Row - highly recommend
- matthew (8/5): - NICE ROOM. NICE PEOPLE. LOVELY AREA. DEFO RECOMMEND
- Brandy (6/5): - Very clean room and atmosphere. Very basic amenities and aged. Safe place. Mattress was uncomfortable, if you like it more hard/extra firm mattress this is the place. Common area was quaint.
- John (10/5): - Staying here was like staying at a friend’s house. it felt very welcoming !
- Tad (4/5): - This is a wildly over priced glorified hostel with minimal decor, cheap amenities and a breakfast cook who couldn't be bothered to say good morning or be pleasant. The view out of my alley facing room was of electrical lines and huge transformer. The front yard was untended and the overflowing compost pile next to the front door was the icing on the cake. And for this I paid $250 a night. Amazing. I hate being ripped off.
- Rachel (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Colleen and Jeff (10/5): - Loved staying at Northern Nights. Will stay here when we come back. Sarah was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was a fountain of information and was ready to help in any way. Had bear spray and more for the day hikers. Breakfasts were yummy and cooked to order.
- Li (10/5): - Sarah is an incredible host, who prepares delicious breakfast, best coffee I've had in Alaska! The home baked fruit breads, taste so good! The room has three beds, perfect for us. The shared areas are clean and felt like home. Walking distance to the stunning bay views. Highly recommend for Seward staying
- Carol (10/5): - Historic house, use of communal kitchen was encouraged. We stayed in Exit Glacier room—perfect as we hiked to the glacier. Gave good advise on where to eat.
- zhaosheng (6/5): Good property but overrated - I booked this property for excellent rate but I think it is overrated. You have only one room and other area is common, as a family with small kids you have to control them all the time, the thing wall won’t prevent any noise. I saw great review for breakfast, unfortunately there is nothing more than a hotel free conventional breakfast. It is better for couple but not great for a family
- JANE (10/5): - Great homemade breakfast, friendly owner, liked being able to store luggage all day!
- Philip (10/5): - A great find. We booked last minute due to previous motel not having a suitable room! This place is a gem and the host was wonderful. Very convenient for restaurants, shops, Sealife Center.
Highly recommended.
- Francis (10/5): - Excellent room and fabulous breakfast and lots of good advice. Seward is very expensive
- Christine (10/5): - Sarah is the hotess with the mostest! Comfortable beds, very clean, themost delicious breakfasts, convenient to everything and a very interesting, and congenial host.
A very enjoyable three nights!
- Josh (10/5): - Sarah is the best host we have ever had. So kind and helpful for ideas on what to do and where to go! Breakfast was delicious and I only wish there were more like this!
- Barbara (6/5): - Fair accommodations. Not as friendly as other B&Bs I have stayed, no warm greetings by the host. Breakfast was made to order, standard eggs and bacon/sausage.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy and convenient B&B in a great in town location. Sarah is awesome, welcoming, and helpful.
- Subramanian (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Robert (8/5): - Good location, breakfast was good. Sara was friendly. Bed/pillows not so comfy.
- Sheri (10/5): - Our host was incredibly friendly and breakfast was great
- BLAKE (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. We went on a nice walk around town and really enjoyed the motel and the location as well.
- Kathryn (8/5): Great stay! - This was a cute Bed and Breakfast and convienant to restaurants, the water, and our cruise location. Sarah was so nice, was helpful in helping us book excursions. The breakfast was the best on our trip! I'd definitely stay here again!
- GARY (10/5): Sewards best! - Perfect location with a great view and access to restaurants and shopping!
- carla (4/5): - It was ok. No views from the room, but the room was relatively dark at night so that was a plus.
- Kathryn (10/5): - This is a bed and breakfast owned and run by Sarah who is delightful! She makes homemade breakfast bread ( banana chip, lemon raspberry, blueberry rhubarb, etc) for breakfast along with made to order eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage and home fries. Great conversation around the breakfast table with fellow travelers and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay there. Very homey atmosphere.
- Lisa (10/5): - Great location and the breakfast was outstanding! A little confused upon arrival where to go but all turned out fine. Bed extremely comfortable!!
- Regie (8/5): - Good breakfast
- Benjamin (10/5): - Great set up for families especially those traveling with younger children. Highly recommend!
- Ying (10/5): - Great stay. Very clean room and amazing breakfast.
- Mitchell (10/5): Very Pleasant Experience! - Northern Lights was wonderful! We would absolutely stay here again. Sarah was a tremendous host and cooked a great breakfast each morning :). The room was clean, had everything that we needed, and very comfortable. The location is excellent, easy to find and had parking directly in front of the bed and breakfast. It made our time in Seward very enjoyable!
- Stephen (10/5): - Great home made breakfasts
- Julie (10/5): - What a lovely place! After departing a cruise ship early in the morning, we were able to store our luggage there and see the town while waiting for our room to be ready. We stayed in the Bear Glacier room on the first floor, basically 2 adjoining bedrooms and a bathroom. Very comfortable! Only negative is that the walls and floor are not insulated to reduce noise. Could hear pretty clearly through the walls.
The breakfast was delicious and made to order. Sarah even made gluten free scones for my daughter! Great location - walking distance to the aquarium and downtown. Seward is such a beautiful spot. I would definitely stay here again!
- Tami or Shawn (10/5): Beautiful downtown Seward - We had a great stay. Breakfast was amazing and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Property is beautiful and the location is in downtown Seward, walking distance to shops and short drive to harbor, but still quiet at night. We will stay there again when we visit Seward again.
- Lisa (10/5): - Sarah is the best host - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful & funny! You can’t get a better start to the day than her breakfast. Quiet spot on the edge of town but close to everything. If you’re in Seward - make Northern Nights your base!
- Manivannan (10/5): - One of the best stay experience, great hosting and breakfast.
- Yunyue (10/5): - Loved it, very cute little place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful BnB - We had an amazing stay as a family of 5! We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the location was great. Sarah was very accommodating and the breakfast was lovely! Thank you for having us, we'd love to stay here again.
- Michael (10/5): Great beautiful place - Beautiful place, great room, wonderful breakfast, and just a wonderful atmosphere!. Loved the interactions, the chats, and the feeling of the place. Would definitely go back the next time we visit!
- Pauline (8/5): - Breakfast made to order! And they helped us purchase our Kenai Fjord tour.
- Diana (8/5): - Nice stay, great cooked breakfast in the morning. Very friendly staff. The only con which is prevalent in many B&Bs is lugging our suitcases up the stairway to the bedroom area,
- Han (10/5): - The breakfast is a must- fresh, cooked to order, super delicious!
Room is great and check-in/out were very smooth.
- Christine (10/5): - The house was lovely and welcoming. Sara was very personable. It was all easy
- Michael (10/5): - An old house.
- Nina (8/5): - Sarah our host was a wealth of knowledge of things to do in the area.
- Ira (10/5): - A very comfortable and welcoming place to stay.
- Laurie (10/5): - The room was comfortable. The breakfast was made to order and delicious with breakfast options.
- Rajesh (10/5): - Easy communication, good breakfast and the awesome weather helped
- Heather (10/5): - Great stay at this B&B. Convenient to all of Seward so we walked everywhere. Made to order hot breakfast was delicious. Would stay again.
- Robin (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at Northern Lights B&B. The location was great for walking around Seward and so near the best dining options. The breakfasts were made to order and very yummy! Beds, rooms, all good! I would stay here again!
- Mary (10/5): - Sarah was very welcoming helped make our stay in Seward outstanding. Great recommendations and tips on getting around.
Breakfast was delicious.
- Sonya (10/5): - The room was a little snug, but modern and clean. The staff was the highlight! Very informative, helpful and accommodating. The food was great and the location was walkable to the bay and many shops and restaurants. B&B’s are fun because you get to meet others and hear about their experiences as well. Would definitely recommend!
- Sivakumar (8/5): Good B&B . Smaller room. Good service - Breakfast was very good. Fresh choice of eggs, potatoes, very good coffee, banana bread, fruits. True B&B setting for breakfast with other customers. Great service. Early check-in (2 hours early) was possible. Sarah called us about a clothing item left behind after we checked out. Got a small discount from booking boat tour of Kenai fjords with Northern Nights.
Room small for 3 people.
- Jenna (10/5): - We loved our stay! The rooms were cozy. The breakfast was delicious and the hostess was very nice and helpful. Great location near the water and right downtown. Highly recommend!
- Margarita (10/5): - Excellent property to stay at with family. Highly recommend!
- Michael (10/5): - We had twelve of us (7 kids) in th 3 spacious rooms. Plenty of parking and restaurants 1-2 walkable blocks away. Quick drive to the pier for excursions. Stayed for two nights and owner had accommodated our early departure for a glacier boat tour by having breakfast ready and for easy/quick eating. One night utilized the grill for local grocery store bison burgers, reindeer sausage and fries/tater tots in the oven. Plenty of space for everyone to eat and have a drink / laugh / enjoy on our last night in Alaska. Highly recommend all around this property.
- Ronald (8/5): Good alternative to expensive hotels - Informally run B&B with minimal contact with owners/managers, which is fine with me. Breakfast was good and house was clean, though not fancy or memorable. I usually prefer more traditional small hotels, but this was a nice change, especially in a small town with seemingly insufficient number of hotel rooms. Location very near downtown and bay.
- James (10/5): - Great location with walkable dinning options after a long day. Clean location, good communication, and everything went smooth.
- Tamara (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at Northern Nights. Our host, Sarah, was very warm and welcoming and really went the extra mile to help us with a small personal situation. The rooms for my family and me were clean and spacious. We even had access to an outdoor patio off of our room. It was a treat to have a homemade breakfast and to chat with the other guests. My favorites were the sourdough waffles, the banana bread with chocolate chips, and the array of colorful fresh fruits. We hope to return to Seward and would definitely try to stay here again. Also, the property is within walking distance to the restaurants and shops.
- Arlene (10/5): - Sara made a delicious breakfast before we headed out - all freshly made! The room was clean and comfortable. Checking in and out was made very easy and convenient!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean bed and breakfast - Great stay for 1-night! Home cook hot breakfast - nothing fancy or gourmet, just cook to order! Comfortable bed! Room is spotless clean! You are free to grab things from their kitchen in the afternoon & evening. So you can get drinking water from the fridge - as long as you return everything you took from the kitchen before morning! The breakfast service in the morning was great. The breakfast itself it just typical American hot breakfast. However, when you first arrive the B&B, the host is not there to greet you. We didn’t know they have a hot water kettle until the next morning. It’s not close to the cruise terminal so you’ll have to catch the town’s free shuttle or walk 20 to 30 minutes with your luggage.
- Jason (10/5): - Clean comfortable, spacious, friendly. Great hostess w/ lots of ideas for things to do but yet not the least bit pushy. Amazing breakfast. A little pricey for my taste but consistent with other nearby properties.
- Yu-Han (10/5): - Northern Nights is a great place to stay for its convenient location, clean and comfortable room, homey shared space (living room and kitchen), and responsive host. The included breakfast is made-to-order standard American breakfast (e.g. egg, bacon, sausage, potato, waffle, coffee, fruits... etc.). I especially like the home-made lemon cranberry bread. The property is within walkable distance to Resurrection Bay, restaurants, and coffee shops, and is just next to the beautiful Seward community library/museum. Sarah (the host) is friendly and communicated well in emails before our visit. We booked the glacier wildlife cruise tour (another thing I recommend to do in Seward!) through her with discounts. Sarah is very helpful and Northern Nights is a beautiful house.
- Sherryl (10/5): Great Stay, Great Breakfast - The room was comfortable, the hostess making breakfast was fantastic, as was breakfast! Important thing to note is the fact that there aren’t any TVs in the rooms.
- Christophe R (10/5): - Perfect room and a perfect location!
Hostess lives on the property and was VERY friendly and helpful. We stayed there for two nights and I wish we had booked it for three.
- Ben (10/5): - Excellent wel-maintained property at the heart of everything
- Lumy (10/5): - Love this place. Sarah is amazing. We have been coming here for years.
- Julie (10/5): - Perfect location! Excellent hostess (Sarah) who not only makes a fabulous breakfast but also is a great resource for best hikes, fishing, and dining options.
- Sherilin (10/5): - She cooks an amazing breakfast everyday. Was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the house was. Sarah is wonderful!
- Autumn (10/5): - This bed and breakfast was so sweet! The home-like feel and the amazing location. You’re so close to the boardwalk, where you can enjoy beautiful views of destruction, Bay and the mountains.Only a block or two away from the Alaska Sea life Center and shopping. The amazing homemade breakfast and strawberry rhubarb bread. Made by by one of the wonderful host. Who by the way has so much knowledge about Seward. The beds are very comfortable and have plenty of pillows. There is a fireplace and a sitting area that is so comfortable to just sit down and relax after a long day of hiking. I would highly recommend this property!
- Connor (10/5): Excellent Weekend Getaway Spot! - Super easy checking in. Great host who is friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Our 4 yr old loved the bread she made! We can't wait to come back in a couple months!
- Sandra (10/5): - Amazing breakfast and friendly host. Knowledgeable about the area.
- Jose (10/5): - 5 Star
- Jackie (10/5): - Wonderful place! Very comfortable, great location & good communication from hostess. Hot breafast wS superb! Would definitely stay again & recommend!
- Jena (10/5): - Sarah was so personable and prepared a wonderful breakfast for our large family.
- Gordon (10/5): - Excellent location. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again!
- Sagi (10/5): - Very good breakfast!
- Karen (10/5): - Staff made the stay perfect. Sarah & Janis were so friendly and extremely helpful going way beyond expectations to make stay wonderful
- Richard (10/5): - Northern Nights is in a great location, close to the scenic waterfront, right next door to the excellent Seward Library and History Center, and a short walk from a lot of great shops and restaurants in historic downtown Seward. Sarah, your hostess, has comprehensive information and recommendations about things to see and do. The B&B itself is bright, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are outstanding.
- Kimberly (10/5): - We love Northern Lights! The B&B is in a great location, where one can easily walk to restaurants and places to visit. The actual facility is wonderful - so clean, well set up, lovely common area, and beautiful room. Beds were comfortable and bathroom great. We haven’t had breakfast yet but we can’t wait!
- Tina (10/5): - This was a great stay! It’s usually hard to find a room with 3 beds; this was great for a family of 4 on a fishing adventure.
Restaurants are in walking distance. The Sealife center was close by for entertainment.
Breakfast was phenomenal! The kids now want to make sourdough waffles at home. Everyone was very nice.
I’d like to stay again and do more site seeing.
- Lumy (10/5): - This is our second time staying here. We absolutely love it.
- Sean (10/5): Amazing staying - The BnB was located in a great place, clean, the other guests were friendly about giving suggestions and the host Sarah was fantastic!
- Heather (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this B&B. Communication was clear. Host, Sarah, was pleasant, helpful and a great cook. Breakfast was delicious. The property was charming & comfortable. It was nice to meet some of the other guests, as well.
- Robert (10/5): - Excellent place and staff. Sara was great!
- SCOTT (10/5): - I decided to stay here due the reviews. It is a newer B&B located in town within a couple blocks of the tourist attractions and dining. The facility is very, very clean and quiet with modern guest rooms similar to a hotel. Includes a delicious hot cooked breakfast with an assortment of fresh fruit and hot out of the oven baked scones. I plan to return again and will recommend the Northern Lights to my friends. This is absolutely a rare and wonderful gem!
- Walter (10/5): - Great host and convenient location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best place to stay in Seward - Sarah has created a wonderful home for guests. We felt like family the whole time and she had excellent recommendations. We can’t thank her enough for the hospitality!
- Angel (10/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): - Sarah, the innkeeper, was tremendously friendly & helpful. She made check-in & check-out very easy & had great recommendations for the area. We would definitely stay here again!
- Jackson (10/5): - Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, and comfortable room. Such a nice place and owner made sure we had breakfast even when we left before breakfast times began. Highly recommend!
- Daniel (10/5): - Quiet area above an unused garage, well stocked, washer and dryer in the room.
- Laura (10/5): - The facility was very well kept. Sarah and her staff keep the place nice and clean. The breakfast that Sarah prepares for you each morning is the highlight of the stay and would be the reason for us to come back.
- Darren (10/5): Highly recommend - we'll be back! - Highly recommend. We were upgraded to a slightly bigger efficiency apartment with a water view. Very nice place but what stood out was the host (Sarah) who cooked a fabulous breakfast at the Northern lights B&B. She was very accommodating and full of local knowledge. Met some fantastic other travelers during breakfast. We enjoyed this so much we'll be back again next year.
- Cheryl (10/5): Seward23 - Very nice B&B. The host was great - she shared helpful information and was super friendly. She also made an excellent breakfast.
- Sarah Ann (10/5): - Great place to stay! Shower pressure was great. Clean. But the staff were pretty loud in the early morning while cooking and cleaning. I would stay again.
- Betty (10/5): Awesome! - The breakfast cook was so good, and nice.
- Richard (10/5): - Quaint, nice lady running the business and cooking was good and good conversation
- Sabrina (10/5): - The room was spacious and clean. They serve a delicious breakfast and the staff is really friendly
- Ken (8/5): - It is a cozy place to stay.
- Katherine (10/5): - Friendly breakfast chefs, cozy accommodations, nice location.
