Guest Reviews
- Kevin (6/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): I'll be back - Arrived and, to my pleasant surprise, the front desk staff was kind and straightforward. The place had a cozy, quaint feel, and the room had everything I needed — even an extra blanket already in the room. I appreciated the coffee setup with actual cups and glasses instead of the usual disposable ones.
The room was clean, quiet, and easy to access, with good lighting outside that made me feel comfortable coming and going. It’s conveniently close to Dripping Springs while still tucked away enough to enjoy the peaceful woods and quiet surroundings. I look forward to my next stay here.
- Loren (10/5): -
- Bettye (1/5): It was safe, but no help with luggage or amenities of any kind. The public needs to know what to exp - There was no breakfast offered. The room was tiny and the bathroom minuscule. For the cost of $132. I would have expected a much better facility. Offer breakfast and less rudimentary facility. This motel would be great for men who didnt mind roughing it, but for a woman or family it was unacceptable
- Jose (9/5): Awesome - Everything I didn’t dislike anything
- Ken (10/5): - Friendly family owned motel. Quiet, with a secure design and inward doors. Morning coffee on the patio was nice. A little small, but there was just me as an occupant.
- Charlene (8/5): Hospitable, homey and comfortable. - An old nostalgic Texan motel. Good value and you get what you pay for. Beds and bedding are comfortable. Friendly and hospitable caretaker. Parking is plentiful. Large room and each room has its own deck to sit outside on. A mini fridge was in the room. I am glad I brought my own hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner (samples were provided). AC worked well. One small dresser so only one occupant doesn’t live out of their suitcase. I could hear any hallway conversation while in the room.
- Dennie (3/5): - Extremely basic facility and nothing else Extremely basic with no staff on duty
- Levi (9/5): -
- HOLT (10/5): The owners were VERY NICE & I will definitely stay here again. - Feeling of being comfortable. Size of room just right! Like that it was not oversized as most motel rooms. Sitting outside on small patio very nice. Internet is a little weak, but given location I understood. They did address the issue.
- myriam (8/5): - Ras
- Kent (7/5): It was what we needed and it met our expectations - Room met our needs, but I wouldn't want to stay there more than one night. Room was quite small, but it was fine for just one night.
- Brown (10/5): -
- Austin (10/5): -
- Carlos (10/5): - Everything was very nice and accessible
- Susan (10/5): - Welcoming hotel. Staff is friendly and willing to help with any question. Very clean. Easy parking.
- Mayra (9/5): -
- Justin (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Gary (1/5): Place literally stinks like mold. Even if if it were free I wouldn't stay again. Stay Away. - Skip this location even if its the cheapest. Its cheapest for a reason. It's straight out of 1970 and it smells like it is just as old. The room was really stinky, like wet towels. The AC was easily 20 years old and the beds were very uncomfortable. Also I woke up to numerous bites on my legs from what seems like a spider. I wish I would have slept in the car and saved the $90. Never again. everything was old and dingy and not as depicted in the pictures. i should have asked for a refund after i entered the room and it stank.
- Vera (6/5): Served the purpose for a one night stay. Clean . - Good price for overnight stay. The air conditioner was noisy.
- Strate (8/5): Decent place to crash when working wedding in hill country - Generally pretty quiet and the staff is accommodating with requests to late check in etc The rooms are a little run down, furniture wearing out etc
- James (10/5): - Twas a wonderful little spot for us to stay the night. You get more than you pay for.
- Eldona (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay in Dripping Springs
- Darrell (8/5): Everything you need at a great price. - Has most of the amenities you want and need. Clean shower, room and common area. Large deck (backside rooms) to relax. Quiet location. Fridge, coffee maker, microwave. Great price :)
- Elida (8/5): Adequate for a one night stay - No breakfast option. Room did have fridge and microwave so if staying longer you could buy food items. Patio from room was great addition
- Tyler (6/5): I could have found a better option for the money. - The motel was in a decent location but, not great. It’s very old and not updated. It was extremely loud. (I was in room #1 next to the office) I thought it was overpriced for the experience.
- Everett (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaclyn (6/5): Decent for a quick trip - Decent for a quick overnight trip. I was in town for wedding business so I just needed a place to crash. Clean, but a little noisy with sound carrying from office area and hallways. But overall decent.
- Lareaca (9/5): quaint, quiet and comfortable. - It was clean. The room was comfortable.
And fit my needs for the night
- Gina (3/5): Would not recommend. - Pretty clean Odor that resembled sewer. We were told to fill out a card without info and throw it behind the desk. There was no one there upon our arrival. Key was left on desk
- Jody (8/5): - Property was okay. Could be cleaner and a little outdated, but served the purpose of this trip.
- Sandy (10/5): Love the quaint , Coxzy feel. Just adorable♥️ - So Cute , very Clean!! Enjoyable , Sister Time 😊 Great experience! Bedspread to Small. Need to include comforter or bigger Bedspread. Needs brighter lighting , maybe a 100 watt light bulb.
- John (6/5): Pleasant - Super easy load in and out, friendly staff! Sewage smell in the bathroom was almost a deal breaker,
- Autumn (2/5): - Roaches and very strong sewage smell in room. Bed also extremely uncomfortable.
- Jorge (6/5): - Overall, it was a decent place to stay as a stop over, but unless necessary, not the greatest to stay at.
- Christina (7/5): Good - Nothing fancy, but worked out fine for what we needed. Was good for the price. Like I said nothing fancy but for the price, I didn't expect it
- Neil (6/5): Pleasant - Location, quiet! Septic smell from bathroom!
- J5924GYdavide (2/5): Avoid at all costs - The check in person at the front desk didn’t speak English, couldn’t find my reservation despite me having a confirmation number.
Motel is dingy, looks like it’s from the 1980’s.
As do the furnishings. Terrible overall experience. Price is 3 times higher than what I received in services
- Rebecca (6/5): - The lady at check-in wasn't very friendly or helpful to my hearing impaired husband. The floor in our room was dusty & dirty on my bare feet. Nice shower. Otherwise a bare bones small room. Private porch/balcony" needs furniture to sit & enjoy coffee.
- Lynda (9/5): really clean and newly remodeled. Will stay here again. - Everything was remodeled and brand new. Small room but really nice. All rooms are interior so you feel safe. upgrade exterior to match the wonderful interior
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandoval18 (5/5): Great location, Awful sleep - Staff was great, polite and friendly. Location was also good for us. The doors are all inside a corridor and there is nothing private about it. Noisy and blaring light coming in under the door. The bed was AWFUL, it was hard and lumpy. Sheets felt like sandpaper and the pillows were the size of couch throw pillows. I literally did not sleep all night.
- Leann (10/5): Great place to stay. - Rodg and his family has a great vision and is working hard to constantly make this place nicer. Highly recommend it.
- James J (8/5): - Property in process of renovation. Our room was clean, well equipped and efficiently laid out. ‘Value’ room Not for everyone.
- Kevin (8/5): - Just what you might expect for an old motel. but rooms were clean and service was very good.
- Sterling (8/5): Old-fashioned, basic motel. Fine with me. -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We got into town earlier and was very happy when we were able to check-in early. The manager was out but left a contact number and after speaking with her we got our key and signed papers afterwards. Very nice, polite and professional staff. Will definitely visit when in area.
- James (8/5): fits the bill - Quant little hotel Nothing special but if just needing a good night of sleep in a quiet place for a reasonable price, this hotel fits the bill
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was not clean.
- KAMIRYN (8/5): Good for the price. - The stay was good. The office staff was polite and accommodating considering I had to check in late. The rooms are dated but very clean and the beds are comfortable. It was very typical of a hill country air bnb experience. My only concern is that I woke up cold and looked over to see the curtains slightly blowing. It turns out the window had been open the entire time with just the screen there. If it were anywhere other than Dripping Springs I would have been more alarmed. But other than that it was good for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room, no frills, worked perfectly for a quick stay!
- Fidencio (10/5): - Good Clean room
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It's a fine place for the price. Rooms are dated but clean. wifi works fine. They call the beds queens but they are more like full. Blankets are very thin. I was anticipating a nice rustic setting, but it's not very much like that. All in all not bad but pretty average.
- Connie (8/5): - Outpost Motel is an older motel reminiscent of an earlier time. The rooms are small but well kept and clean. The owner was friendly at check-in, and pictures and certificates of appreciation on the walls in their office show that they support their community. If you are looking for a modern hotel with all the bells and whistles, this is not it. However, if you are looking for a nice and clean place to lay your head at night, I recommend you check out Outpost Motel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friday night stay - Clean place to stay. Not fancy but it will do the trick. Check in was courteous.
- Carey (6/5): - It was okay for the money. Sink in bathroom would not drain. Room is small.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Need to upgrade facilities. Did not feel it was value for money.
- Shawn (8/5): - Very quaint hotel. Small, but nice. Beds very comfortable.
- Stephanie (10/5): Perfect for wedding guests - Very modern rooms. Looks brand new. Had all the amenities we wanted. Excellent small hotel with personality. Also very clean. Beds were a bit hard as were the pillows. But a great stay! Not expensive. So great value.
- Andrea (10/5): Comfortable Hotel Near Hamilton Pool - Great little hotel for the best price in the area. It’s undergoing some renovation, but it’s not noisy. Looking forward to my next stay when Hamilton pool opens again.
- Robyn (10/5): Highly recommend - Very clean and nice room. Convenient and affordable. Have stayed here a couple of times. Highly recommend.
- Dog (10/5): - Dee and Roger were very nice and professional. The room was comfortable and close to eating and shopping.
- Verified traveler (6/5): A quiet place to sleep - Clean. Very basic. Entrance carpet worn and frayed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is a very inexpensive place to hang out and be close to town. It is clean, well kept, but a very low amenities place. The owners are hard working, keep a very old property tidy and friendly. We really enjoyed sitting out front with a glass of wine.
- thomamarc723 (6/5): It works - It’s not the fanciest motel in the world but it is a motel and if you’re just looking for a place to spend the night, take a shower and get out it’s perfect. Cheap, free parking and free internet, the Peale are nice and keep to themselves.
- Cecilia (8/5): The Family Business in Dripping Springs TX - Was nicely surprised by my choice as it was very nice accommodation. Closest and least expensive hotel near my intended visit in Dripping Springs, TX.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outpost Motel Dripping Springs - Very enjoyable stay. Will stay again on next visit. Quite location, comfy beds.
- TContheroad (8/5): Clean, Comfortable, Affordable - I was skeptical when I made the reservation thinking that this little independent motel might be a nightmare. To my surprise, it was quite amazing. It was cleaner than motels twice the price. It was well appointed and the room was comfortable and in good condition. I am very pleased with the service and the accommodations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked that the Motel was very old school, an actually key, registration card. It is bare bones which worked for what i needed, but if looking for more than a place to sleep, this isn't it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cute, small and quiet. The bed was a little firm for my liking. The vending machines did not work which was a little disappointing. Check in was easy and I was allowed to check in an hour and a half early. The staff was pleasant.
- vicky (8/5): Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable - We had a great stay. The hotel was nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!
- Patty (8/5): - Small but better than expected. Clean and friendly staff. I'd stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was sufficient. The staff was accommodating. For a night's stay was almost a hundred dollars and that was a bit too much for the facility but, was the cheapest in town.
- Carolyn (10/5): - I loved it. Just old. Very clean! The staff was extrmely helpful! Charming!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We got there at 2 in the morning and the lobby was unlocked and nobody was at the front desk. We waited for 10 minutes. Called their front desk, rang the doorbell, no answer. There was a motion detector bell going off so we made a ton of noise. I'm surprised we didn't wake up any other guests just down the hall. We had to leave and we fortunately got into another hotel who DID have a worker at the front desk. We were very dissapointed with this hotels service.
- Tarhinson (6/5): A place to stay when you have no place to stay - Over all, it was a pretty plain motel room. You have the necessities, bed, tv, bathroom, microwave, mini fridge, and a dirty coffee pot. The room seemed clean enough, however the decor could use some serious touching up. The "painting" above the bed was a kids paint by number canvas of some sort. There was also some extra hardware on the wall behind the headboard, not sure what for, or if I even want to know. Like I said, we needed a place to stay because we had no where to stay after visiting the local breweries in the area and a drive home was over an hour away.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Old Motel - The Motel is an old semi refurbished facility. The Orbitz picture makes it look like a cute retro type hotel. It was an old hotel with a few updates. The room was clean and as such we did spend the night. Not again.
- Janette (10/5): Nice place - The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pillows were not super comfortable for me, but the room was clean and nice. The hotel is close to everything. I would stay there again.
- Charlie (6/5): Ok for the price and location. Ok for one night. - Nothing special, but ok for one business night. Close to business for the day
- hsbonsai (10/5): Best Motel Ever! - Let’s start with the fact that we are talking about a motel here. Most you wouldn’t want to get near because, let’s face it, they’re gross. The Outpost Motel is a grand exception! Quirky, and modestly remodeled and with a flair for old Texas this family owned motel is the perfect place to lay your head at night and get showered up for the day. No, these are not luxury accommodations but you’ll feel like you’ve stayed at your eccentric great aunts house for the night. No bed is ever as comfortable as your own, and no home is without a list of items that need repairing so shame on those who posted reviews looking for the most offensive picture they could take. I’m especially offended by the person who signaled out the ethnicity of the owners...seriously?? The pictures I took should help you decide if a motel is right for you. The pricing is by far the cheapest in the area and will vary with the vacation season.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - adequate accommodations for a short stay
- GaryS733 (8/5): A clean, inexpensive, old-style motel. - This was a bare-bones motel in the old style. It's clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. I would recommend it to anyone who was on a budget in that neck of the woods. The staff, which seemed to be the couple that owns it and their daughter, were helpful and responsive. We were there on Memorial Day weekend. I would imagine prices are even lower on a not-holiday time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s was okay for someone like me who was tired and need a place to sleep for a night
- harleyfolsom675 (10/5): Beautiful Place - The room had an A/C, which helps in the hot Texas weather, and it has many amenities like a fridge, a microwave, a BBQ pit, desk, coffee machine, a large TV, and clean towels and furniture. Their mattresses seem new, and every corner of the room is clean. They have a snack, drink, and ice machine in the middle of the hallway. We paid $70 for a weekday price which is very good for this kind of service. The staff are very friendly and provide helpful service. I would definitely stay here again.
- denicemoffett (8/5): Outpost Motel keeps the small town vibe alive in Dripping Springs. - If you want slick, predictable accommodations, this motel is probably not for you. But if you'd rather have a sense of the unique character of the place, you will find this an interesting stop. The Outpost's long porches, gazebo, and its setting back from the busy road, capture some of the small town charm that used to be Dripping Springs. We used the fridge and microwave for snacks and beverages. All rooms are on the ground floor with a huge ice machine very handy. You get an old-fashioned key. (I'm not a fan of room cards that, as likely as not, take several attempts to open the door.) Though this older motel is a little rough on the outside, the owners and staff are working to improve it. I love it that there is someone standing up to the "big box" hotels moving into the area with their generic fancy lobbies and high prices. Compare the $80/night at the Outpost to the $230(+) we'd have spent down the highway. That's a lot of money we had left in our pockets for entertainment around town! Hope you'll give this place a try with a kind eye, and it might surprise you with its latent charm.
- Bobbo0219 (10/5): Great, simple place to stay for the price! - Rooms were clean, had microwave, refrigerator, several electrical outlets for charging devices. Clean towels. Attentive and professional staff. Simple room, furnishings outdated, but we needed a clean place to sleep and shower. We definitely got our money's worth. Good place for bikers travelling through the Hill country. Quiet rooms. Outdated lock on door: however, it did have door knob lock and a deadbolt. Yes, they still use keys. Security cameras in motel. Worked great for our needs. Would recommend, unless you need 4-5 star places, then you need a chain hotel. This place only has 12 rooms and is family owned, operated and they live on the grounds.
- sandyh900 (6/5): Adequate....but overpriced - Apparently, Dripping Springs is a hot spot for travel and accordingly, there are no decently priced hotels. In my humble and well-traveled opinion, when you pay almost $100 a night for a hotel room, you should expect at least a comfortable bed, which I specifically asked about. The manager assured me that the beds were close to being brand new. I was very disappointed in the fact that it was one of the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on and the water from the the bathroom sink smelled of strong sulfur. Just gross!
- T8038VHmichaelf (10/5): Just a great spot - I live in Austin, and Dripping is about 30 minutes from me. I decided to stay here because there is a music venue here tonight, and I don't want to back to Austin tonight.
The owner at the front desk was so very nice, and checked me in quickly. She gave me room #1! Never had room 1 before...lol.
The room is very clean, air conditioner works great, and there is a coffee pot, microwave and frig. Also a very big lcd tv with great reception and lots of channels.
I am staying on a Wednesday, and my rate was $70. I thought that was very reasonable. This is a great hotel, small and quaint. The room entry is inside a hallway, so it is not like a Motel 6 where your door is outside.
I feel safe and appreciated. Great job owners!
Mike
- TravelingMe77 (8/5): Not bad! - We didn't have a reservation and they still managed to get us a room. The staff was very friendly. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. The room was nice and very clean. With a fridge and microwave. Cable tv. Comfy beds. Would definitely stay there again.
- 185melvar (10/5): Country relaxation - Last minute for an unplanned trip, found a nice lodging outside of Austin. Very pleasant atmosphere if you prefer the country. Got to use their Picnic area for BBQ/dinner and enjoyed the evening with a little firework display. Rooms are clean nice beds and pleasantly surprised Free WiFi. Very family oriented.
- P1377CFmaryb (4/5): booked 2 nights, left after 1 night - Only other hotel close to the Terrace Club were I was a bridesmaid the other hotel was booked since they were hosting to weddings.
Needless to say we only stayed the night before the wedding (rehearsal) and left in a storm the night of the wedding because we could not stay any longer. The hotel looked like the "Bates Hotel" driving up at night. They actually give you a key to your room. The room was stuffy and looked much like a motel than a hotel. We tried checking out the next morning and no staff was available that we left the key on the counter with a letter stating that we were leaving. To top it off they had a fish tank across from the counter with a dead fish floating around (eery music playing). We attended the wedding and left while a thunder storm was to come in even though we had already paid the night we opted to drive while a storm warning instead of staying one more night at this hotel.
- 401jeffh (6/5): Football Weekend - Came to Dripping Springs for the 2014 Football Homecoming. Room was small although it was clean and comfortable. water pressure in the bathroom was very good. Place is a bit noisey in the morning. Had general vending, drinks, snacks.
- nikkier2014 (8/5): Great find! - My husband and I stayed here for a short get away to see some the sights just outside Austin and we loved it! The outpost is a small family owned business, and they are very friendly and accommodating. the rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable! The room includes a fridge, microwave, flat screen TVs, Coffee maker, and extra pillows. the motel also has free ice but no room service or breakfast. I highly recommend this motel!!!
- WhtRhno (8/5): Great place to lay your head - we got caught in an ice storm. All of the other hotels were very expensive. we knew it was not expensive hotel it was clean had a coffee pot and clean towels and cable. was very good for the value. Other hotels were charging $200 a night. Staff was very friendly.
- 610mikeu (8/5): 5 comfortable Nights - I stayed here for 5 nights while I was visiting in Dripping Springs. At $60 per night for a single person I found the rate to be a good value. The room was comfortable and quiet, and my stay was overall a pleasant experience. There is nice homey feel to the motel and the family that runs it seems to take pride in their enterprise. The previous review mentioned Motel 6 but I would say this is far superior to the Motel 6 experience, which I prefer to avoid. I think you will enjoy your stay here unless you feel insecure staying in anything but a corporate chain motel.
- popwolf3018 (6/5): On a Scale of 1-10, I give it a 6.5! - Good points: Hospitality, TV & Cleanliness. Biggest complaint was that it was way overpriced ($90/ night), especially with this being off peak season. We agreed to this price before we ever saw the room (our fault), based on previous reviews. There are only 2 motels in this immediate area, the other motel will charge you about 40% more but it is a chain not a 13 room Mom & Pop motel. Overall I would compare room to a Motel 6, if you like that for $90 a night you will Love this place. I recommend staying in Austin about 20 miles East, @ a decent priced hotel chain.
- 4msleah (10/5): A little hidden gem - It was way better than expected. The staff are so friendly and accommodating! The older couple are learning English and did a great job trying to communicate. The daughter is doing a great job teaching them. Be a little patient and all will be well :) We must use CPAP machines and there was only a plug on one side of the bed but they quickly provided an extension cord and solved the problem. A small motel with interior entrances and comfy rooms set up more like bedrooms than motel rooms, that is, if your bedroom has a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker (with coffee and condiments) in it! Everything neat and orderly with hair dryer, shampoo, shower caps, soap and lotion provided. Nice big wall-mounted tv with lots of channels. A bit off the beaten path, hence the 4 rating on location, but very quiet and peaceful once there! Did not hear noise from other guests or cars and it was full when we checked out this morning. Picnic and a small playground makes it nice for families. Carpets are old and need replaced (4 rating on cleanliness) but they have delightfully scented air fresheners plugged in throughout the hallway so that makes it pleasant. Truthfully, I fully enjoyed my morning coffee in a ceramic cup and my ice water in a glass glass in our room so they get kudos for that from me! Much better than the plastic and paper we usually get in chain hotels. It may be older and need a little cosmetic work but we can overlook those few things as it is obvious they work hard to maintain the place. Choice of a room with one queen bed or two. We will gladly stay here again :)
