Guest Reviews
- Danielle (6/5): - Right on Canal St, next to the best dumpling spots. We had our own bathroom. It was easy to check in. Staff were monitoring the entry door throughout the day and evening.
- Lissa (6/5): Ok grubby area. - There were marks on the wall that had been filled but not painted. No bedside tables, just an office chair and 2 plastic stools ?! Grubby looking hotel, certainlt NOT like the photos. Good job it was1 night. Wouldnt book again
Chinatown has gone downhill ! Very dirty area.
- Clare (4/5): - Room is not well equipped, dated, and generally uninviting. I was uncomfortable.
- Andrew (8/5): - Small hotel on a very Busy street.
- William (10/5): - Clean with a great a/c real nice guy at the front desk on check in, a good deli for grub and coffee across the street on the corner and a short walk of 10 minutes to Little Italy, Second stay there and will go back again and park close by in a garage at 2 Division Street
- Be thi (10/5): - My room was clean and nice. Got my own bathroom microwave and fridge. Staff was very nice and helpful anytime we need something. Ac and heater works great. It is a very good spot in Chinatown and walkable to any stores and the subway. I would stay here again :)
- Amberli (10/5): - Right in china town and close to the metro! Great spot for foodies.
- Solongo (6/5): - Staff was friendly, but room was not clean enough and smells bad
- John (6/5): - Room was fine. A little too bare bone. The bed was fine. Good pressure in the shower.
- Susan (2/5): - The receptionist was not helpful at all and often times rude. The front door was locked on occasion. The entire hotel lobby, corridor, and rooms smelled of an odor that got my stomach sick. It was not aThe receptionist was not helpful at all and often times rude. The front door was locked on occasion. The entire hotel lobby, corridor, and rooms smelled of a odor that got my stomach sick. It was not a pleasant day.
- Angeni (8/5): - Twin bed was comfortable and the A/C was nice and cold!
- Angela (6/5): - This hotel was just okay. Lobby doesn’t look ANYTHING like the pictures. Decor and amenities were very sparse. Best thing going for it was at least it was clean.
- Kelly (8/5): - As advertised
- Alfred (8/5): - Room was clean. I overlooked that room does not include a tv. But we honestly didn’t have a lot of down town to watch anything. Lot of noise outside. Staff is friendly.
- JOYCE (6/5): - The room was very clean and the staff did a good job. The street was shabby which is no fault of the hotel but it was not pleasant.
There were plenty of subway stations near by. Price was also reasonable.
- Kerrie (4/5): Would not recommend - The a/c kept the room cool, but it was very noisy. The cleaning products used made the room smell and caused an allergic reaction. The luggage rack was broken, and they didn't have another.
- Leonette (4/5): - The room was small, and missing basic features such as a phone, full length mirror and a good chunk of the outlets didnt work. We had to get our key card rekeyed everytime we left, and the toilet ran the entire we were there. When we brought it up to the front desk, they suggested we turn the water off if it was too loud when sleeping.
- Marcus (10/5): - Very nice young man at our check in. That was much appreciated.
- Hannah (2/5): - For starters, the staff are very unprofessional, always on their phone and don’t seem to care about the people staying there. Our room smelled like pee but were able to switch rooms which is the only good thing I have to say. There was no blow dryer like in the description and the tv was broken. The location is away from everything so long subway rides. The whole place in general smelled bad and dirty and is not worth any penny. Save up for a much better hotel. You get what you pay for but over a grand for 5 nights is still way too much for what this place is.
- Keri (10/5): - Great food nearby
- Qawiyu (4/5): - Too within local store
- Kim Anh (4/5): - What they
post on line is not what we get ,no table ,no chair to seat ,on the wall have nail any where, not come back
- Carmen Elizabeth Cordero (2/5): - La habitación tiene la alfombra sucia, la internet se desconecta, la caja de seguridad no sirve y los alrededores del hotel son sucios y oscuros
- Andrew (2/5): - Overbooked hotel, did not honor reservation yet still charged full price for the stay. Rude staff, do not stay here.
- Gregory (4/5): - Reception staff member was inattentive on arrival, more interested in his (her?) chatting on the phone to a friend, than in checking us in.
Could not accept a digital card payment. Could not provide a receipt for our credit card payment until checkout. Claimed company policy.
At 1am we were woken by the same staff member and its friend talking and laughing loudly outside our room in the corridor.
We suggest this employee be moved on. He/she is no good for business!!
Facilities in the room were OK, but basic.
Local area in which hotel is located is filthy.
- Calvin (10/5): - It was convenient
- Tiffany (4/5): - Dingy, run-down property with no amenities whatsoever. I had repeated issues with the room keys not working, as did other guests. The sheets and towels were clean, but everything felt very run down. I do not recommend staying here unless you have no other options. It's one step above a by-the-hour kind of establishment. I did not feel safe walking back to this hotel after dark.
- Nicole (6/5): - This property is… old. The lobby is hot and smells of old diapers and something else I can’t quite place. The elevator smells even worse but is also stuffy. The location is wonderful if you’re visiting Chinatown or Little Italy. The bed is clean but there is only one pillow. I asked for 2 additional pillows and was told I’d have them if they could FIND extras- they found ONE and it looks a little scary. It won’t be touching my head. The room is clean and looks recently updated. The air conditioner puts out really cold air and the room has a fun view of the street outside.
- Heath (2/5): - Very dirty. Appliances didn’t work. No soap. No remote for tv. No fridge. Dirty
- Nathaniel (4/5): - Shower head dripped water constantly, flooding the bathroom floor and making splashing noises through the closed door. Staff tried their best but no other room was available.
- Karen (8/5): - It was a nice small room, comfortable for one night.
- Wes (4/5): Not great - Beds were hard. Rooms were not cleaned but got new towels and made the bed once in 4 days. Hidden service charge. Key card didn’t work and had to get a new one each day.
- Maria (8/5): - Air conditioning didn’t work.
- Anna (8/5): - The hotel is in a very convenient location, there are many places to walk nearby. The renovation is not very fresh, dirty spots on the carpet, bedding and towels. Very noisy, you can hear everything that happens on the street. If you just came to walk and see the city, then this is a normal option.
- Dagim (2/5): - Never again
- Minette (10/5): Just right - It was exactly what we needed. No frills, but clean and comfortable.
- Wendy (6/5): - The bed was very comfortable and the front desk staff was very nice. I was surprised to find no hangers, and only one small, broken drawer in the very small, IKEA style armoire. Two of the four light above the bathroom mirror were out & there was a cockroach in the bathroom. For the price, in NYC, it could have been worse. There was an aggressive panhandler Saturday morning at 6:15am that was a bit scary.
- Michele (6/5): - The room was in good condition, as described and clean. The room was not ready when we arrived and the person working the front desk had to be called to check us in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Small clean and comfortable - small clean room. just what you need in manhatten
- David Frederick (4/5): - Compared to previous visits to this property, I am very unimpressed. The property is less clean, the rooms are sparser; we had no lockbox, no “do not disturb” sign, the majority of the outlets didn’t work. There is no daily service unless requested at the desk. I will not stay here again, and that’s a shame because I like the neighborhood.
- Michael (6/5): - Not great but not terrible either. It's the kind of place you want to stay at when you want something cost effective at the expense of some of the amenities of most other hotels.
The room was clean, although the carpet was sus (I recommend bringing house shoes), and the lobby smelled like cat food, but I bet there was no cat. I'm willing to bet that there's folks there who rent monthly, it looks like renovated apartment units.
That being said, the proce was right, and I was close to everything I came back to the city for. If you want luxury, this isnt it. If you want a bed, Roku TV and a door that locks, you'll definitely find that here.
- William (10/5): - Nice hotel. Located in Chinatown.
- Nancy (8/5): - after all was good
- Loynel (8/5): - Good stay for a weekend
- Charles (8/5): - The mattress was comfortable.
- Tom (8/5): - Decent for the price considering other NYC options. Nice fresh towels and comfy bed and AC. Could do with a few touch ups generally and providing enough toilet roll. An iron would’ve been good.
- Andre (2/5): - The hotel was not clean. Old everything. Cockroaches in the bathroom. Towels with holes and dirty. Staff unfriendly. Elevator broken. No hot water for the shower for two days. The entry is located next door to a storage facility and you have to dodge machinery, unloading and loading merchandise. It was not worth the money.
- Ed (8/5): - The carpet had gum. Otherwise, I was pleasantly surprised. Canal loft should strike a parking lot deal with a nearby garage. I think Expedia should quote based upon overnight stays rather than days. The hotel is worthwhile to stay
- Joe (2/5): - First bedroom TV was broken and sheets were dirty. Got moved into new bedroom by 2nd of stay where the headboard was busted up and the closet mirror was shattered.
- Marlon (10/5): - Perfect & convenient & love that you get a bathroom
- Avinash (10/5): - Great place
- Baraka (2/5): - Pictures are deceiving my room has stains everywhere. My headboard is crumbling. The elevator slow there’s no air circulation. This is actually the worst hotel I ever been in
- Hans J Robe (4/5): To noisy to sleep - Clean room but bed was not made on the second night, toilet paper was missing and soap spender empty. But worst is thet you cant sleep as you only have the choice of a noisy a/c or a hot room
- Michael (4/5): - Odd sounds constantly in the night.
- Adrian and Gonzalo (6/5): - The hotel is near public transportation routes and the area is safe. It's also a few minutes walk away from several different restaurants, but there are only a few places nearby to get coffee and breakfast.
There is a permanent stench in the air that permeates your clothes from the garbage on the streets around the hotel.
The lady who works the front desk during the day always had headphones in and took forever to notice that we were standing in front of her with a question. She never smiled and gave quick, one-word answers to our questions and acted annoyed that we had interrupted her watching whatever she was watching on her phone.
- DAVID (10/5): - Clean reasonably priced
- Jim (10/5): - Exactly what is needed for a hotel room. A+
- Shreya (6/5): - Room was pretty clean. Beds were comfortable. AC was great. Staff was good. They didn’t have kettle in room to heat water. Only basic amenities. We were over all happy with the stay. This place is in China Town and the neighbourhood was bad. It stinked.
- Jose (6/5): - Subway is only 6 minutes walking and your super close to little Italy and the bus that takes you to World Trade Center
- Jonathan (10/5): - Not bad for the price
- Raymond (6/5): - Well the room itself was new construction, good a/c and bed was great.
Lack of overall effort on their part. No toilet paper in room nor shampoo dispenser. They did bring it right up.
Don't even make the effort to provide coffee in any form. I've been in $10 rooms in Thailand where they provide coffee.
Left door open all the time to creepy store room with stacks of used mattresses and other crap.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Room met expectations - Adequate room, met expectations. It was fine for 1 night. I expected the room to be loud and it definitely was. Very convenient location in Chinatown.
- Ghislaine (8/5): - The place is nice and convenient but there was one staff daylight shift and I asked for neccessities of toilet paper in our room and she was never helpful and did not provide us. Good thing a guy from midnight shift was very nice and accomodating and he exceeded my expectation when it comes to customer service.
- Felica (2/5): - This should be taken off the list for 10/10 stars and a hotel.. This property doesn’t compare to what a hotel is, whether good or bad!! I have never stayed in anything like this.. there’s no phone in the room to make calls not to the front desk, there’s no headboard, furniture only a bed.. this is not a hotel it’s a filthy room that has cockroaches..I tried to
- Carmen (6/5): - The photos on Expedia seem better than what I had. There was no safety box and I have to ask for room change since the TV wasn’t working. In general the staff is amicable and the hotel was well located but needs improvements.
- William (6/5): - It’s fine for what you’re paying, don’t expect anything fancy
- Betsy (6/5): - The rooms are bigger than the typical NYC hotel within the same price range. Close to transportation —train- buses. The lobby always has a raw food/meat smell but if you bypass that, it will be a decent stay.
- Robert J. (10/5): - Property was clean , room in great condition !
- Jorge (2/5): Dirty awful carpet - This place looks extremely tired . It needs new carpeting
- Jorge (4/5): Affordable for NYC but Marginal - The employees are nice and doing the best with what the hotel has to offer . NYC is very expensive so this place for $150-$200 is affordable . The carpets are dingy and with stains, the beds are marginal and the sheets looked wrinkled. I guess the sheets were clean but thin and hard to tell if they had been changed . The dresser looked like something picked up from the garbage bin with holes . The tv was cracked and the left side did not have image. The bathroom was clean and it appeared better than the rest of the room . I was told this hotel was used to host immigrants who trashed the place . It definetly could improve 100% with different carpet or pergo flooring .
- Mohamed (2/5): - The most terrible hotel I’ve ever been too never again
- brandony_12 (2/5): They CHEAT on price. They charge extra and do not admit their own price online!!! - This hotel CHEATs on the price!!! DO NOT book here!!! I booked the hotel on TravelURO, and paid full amount covering everything. However, when arriving at the hotel, they asked to paid a called "service fee" (not resort fee). I asked why, they said the website does not show the correct amount. Even if I show them my receipt, they said they do not see the same amount on their side and insisted to charge me extra fees. They uses fake amount on website to lure people coming, and then charge extra fees! What a cheating hotel!!!
- Ellen (8/5): - China town options are great for low cost dinners like dumplings!
- Dr Samantha (2/5): - Nothing was acceptable it was the dirtiest neighborhood and hotel bad location poor services no amenities & I will never return pls charge the rating on this property to.poor
- Jason (8/5): - The room was great for the amount i paid.
- Thilo (4/5): - Not for light sleepers.
- Melissa (10/5): - I have to give this hotel 5 stars because of the value. The room was clearly recently renovated but VERY basic. There were no extras like ironing board or a hair dryer. I requested non smoking but my room smelled like smoke. Housekeeping did the bare minimum. However it was clean, sheets were super soft and comfy, front desk was mostly friendly and I slept great. Two blocks from Manhattan. Easy walk to Little Italy. Such an amazing value for NYC.
- Juanying (2/5): - Conditions is bad
- Nusrat (2/5): - The room was small, unclean. There were cockroaches walking around. Floor and wall were dirty, unclean
- Christian (10/5): - I flew in on a red eye and needed to rest desperately before I had to make a film screening later in the day… the front desk woman was quite friendly and accommodating - I paid an extra fee so I could check in a few hours beforehand. The room itself was clean, and bed was comfortable. The lamp next to the bed wasn’t working but I didn’t stay in the room for long, so I didn’t mind. I stayed on the 4th floor and it was quiet … there are some other buildings that can see into the room if you have the lights on and blinds open (like any apartment in Manhattan facing other buildings) so maybe just don’t walk around naked with the blinds open. I was worried from many of the other rooms that it was going to be really gross or dirty but i am pleased to report my room was clean and I’m very satisfied with the price, location and quality. It’s not fancy so if you need a no frills central place, definitely consider it. Bathroom was clean and towels were fresh and white. They do hold luggage, but it’s not hidden in a back room.. it’s kinda just a makeshift holding area behind the front desk.. so if you’ve got expensive valuables.. maybe consider using a service like BOUNCE to hold your luggage. Also, I took the subway from JFK to the hotel, and it was about an hour commute… and a very easy walk once I exited. Tons of food options nearby.. and I had to go to Tribeca so about a 15 minute walk. A- rating! Thank you!
- Heather (2/5): - Didn’t feel safe. Waited more than 15 minutes in lobby.
- Matthew (2/5): - Really basic. No amenities. Disappointed
- Strategic (2/5): -
This hotel was nothing like what was shown online. The moment I entered, I was hit by an overpowering smell that set the tone for the rest of my stay. The room was in poor condition—there were noticeable stains all over the carpet, and the walls had several patched holes that hadn't been painted over.
The bathroom was especially disappointing. I was provided with less than a quarter roll of toilet paper—maybe 15 squares—and the bathtub had so many marks and stains that I questioned whether it was actually clean.
Despite advertising 24-hour reception, when I left in the morning, there was only a note left at the desk with a phone number to call if we had issues. This means anyone from the street could have walked in unchecked, which made me feel unsafe.
I ended up staying just one night and had to go back and forth between the manager and the booking site to get a refund. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Ashley (4/5): - This hotel was kind of laughably bad. The walls were spackled but not painted, carpet was dirty, two flat pillows on a full size bed and when we asked for more pillows they gave us little throw pillows in pillow cases. Card to our room kept not working so my boyfriend kept running down to the lobby every time we tried to get back in the room. Its only redemption is that the bathroom was clean, the sheets seemed clean, and the ac worked. I would not stay here again.
- Amber (4/5): - The staff wasn’t terrible. The condition of the room however , I just would’ve expected more cleanliness for the $100 price point and given the space or lack thereof in the room. I had an issue with the shower and knowing how to operate it , called to the front desk and no answer. I was in a rush to head to an event so I didn’t have time to take the elevator down and back up as it’s very slow and I had a call time to meet. I suggest staying here when you won’t really occupy the room. I would highly recommend bringing cleaning supplies to spiffy up the bathroom , especially the shower.
- Richard (10/5): - Great place to stretch out and rest in a quiet room. Good location, walkable distance to Chinatown and Little Italy.
- Tracey (8/5): - The room was a pretty good size for two people. It was clean and had a nice view of the street to see all the action of the local people who live and work there. The location was nice to see all the sights of China town and little Italy. I would stay here again passing through on other adventures. Staff was very nice and helpful. This is not a big fancy hotel so if you are someone who cannot over look a few impressions, you may not want to stay, but I enjoyed it.
- Christopher (6/5): - Being surprised at extra fee I paid on arrival. That all should be included in advertisement on Orbitz web site.
- Yevheniia (10/5): - Good place
- Brian (6/5): - There was trash still in my room when I checked in. Shower didn't work.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - My room was clean and comfortable. Other visitors were friendly. The location is good.
- Michelle (2/5): - When I went to check in, they made me pay an extra service fee that they claimed wasn’t on the Expedia website.
- Aura (6/5): - The ac in our room was not working and the curtain in the shower was dirty and when I asked for a bill they said I was gonna be given one at the checkout however they couldn't print it at the checkout either
- Rosaleen (6/5): - this is a good budget choice- it is NOT fancy, but the rooms are clean and its quiet.
- Sean (10/5): Excellent hotel - Very nice hotel in heart of Chinatown. Close to little Italy, parks and bridges. Good price too. Clean rooms friendly service. Be prepared for rules about food and outside guests in the room. Nothing unreasonable just be aware.
- Grace (2/5): - We found three cockroaches in our room.
- Rey (6/5): - Fridge didn't work and no remote to tv, overall
- Orest (10/5): - Staff friendly. Had a bottle opener for me to use. Great location. Spacious rooms. Clean and quiet. Great value.
- Noah (8/5): - My family and I had a good, comfortable stay. Everything was clean and neat. The only real issue was that my key cards were deactivated multiple times during my two day stay. The staff were happy to fix the cards at the front desk but there was no explanation for why it kept happening after one or two uses. Some of the outlets in the room were not working properly, as plugs would slip out easily. Other than that, the room was in excellent condition and gave me everything I needed. The location and price were very good.
- Christina (6/5): - I didn’t like the area. A bit stuffy/ smelly. There was no safety deposit box. Room was clean and we were supplied with towels every day but no one made the bed. It was the most affordable I could find for this time of year.
