- Annette (9/5): -
- Roger (8/5): -
- KEVIN (9/5): Better than we expected. Very friendly welcome, all at reasonable prices. - Great full English with very good produce, good sausage, my wife had very nice muesli with yogurt and honey.
Evening meal, great Salmon dish and the Nepalese curry is well worth a visit on its own, fab chef. I had lamb so tender.
We was looked after brilliantly by Binda, thankyou. Having to leave !! 😕
- June (8/5): staff very good only let down the room was cold buw to heating - Staff very helpful we could not get heating to work but staff gave us a heater
- Abigail (8/5): - Comfortable room, very helpful staff, nice place! A little noisy near the main road but not a big issue!
- Esther (9/5): Good comfortable and clean, with great walking nearby - Good location clean spacious and comfortable room
- David (8/5): - Friendly staff and a spacious and comfortable room.
- Cane (10/5): Short visit to Lyndhurst - This was our 3rd stay at the Ormonde. Staff are lovely and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There are very steep stairs to the upper floors, so if you have mobility issues, ensure you get a ground floor room.
- Adam (9/5): - Friendly owner and staff, big room with comfy bed good shower and nice quiet location that's only a short walk to town.
- Fanny (8/5): Très confortable mais un peu cher - Le petit déjeuner, la chambre très confortable et lumineuse Le prix un peu cher (mais comme toute la région)
- Frank (8/5): -
- Hannah (8/5): We would recommend this hotel to others: friendly, helpful staff, spacious, comfortable room. - The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and very spacious, bed comfortable. Loved the strong shower. Location was brilliant. We would not book breakfast again. Would have prefered a small breakfast buffet in order to have a bigger variety of choices.
- Symmone (10/5): Excellent value, pleasant host and place to stay - Staff was helpful and friendly. The room was big, clean and the bed comfortable. The food was delicious and we’re planning on staying there again. N/A
- derek (8/5): -
- Tom (7/5): - Very very noisy from surrounding rooms and bathrooms
- Duncan (7/5): Great location. - Excellent location.
Room spacious.
Dining room and lounge. Very steep and shallow stair case, we had to negotiate two staircases to our room.
Shower was leaking and the mirror light was not working, both were reported to reception but could be fixed in the time we were there.
- PAULINE (10/5): - Everything.
- Shaun (10/5): Stayed a few times now. Just a short walk into Lynhurst. Very accommodating staff. -
- Sue (9/5): Perfect place to stay with dog. - Excellent location for new forest. Very dog friendly, dogs allowed into breakfast. Large room. Garden for dogs early morning loo visit. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff No shampoo or conditioner in room.
- K (8/5): -
- Veronica (10/5): Perfect - Love everything. The best for me was location, we were near everything we needed and a short walk from horses and ponies. The food was excellent, always cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Nothing to comment.
- Linda (9/5): Good location great service - Excellent room good breakfast
- Jo (10/5): - Large room with a comfortable bed. Very welcoming and helpful staff.
- Barry (7/5): Only stayed one night, but staff were friendly, - Location was perfect for my visit. I Felt it was a little expensive, I booked through booking.com, and my friends booked direct at a cheaper rate
- John (9/5): A nice welcome in a friendly and comfortable hotel - I have booked here before and the standard of quality has been maintained over the years. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are well laid out and comfortable. The garden is great for sitting out in. The location is very good for Lyndhurst and the surrounding area.
- Pasquino (10/5): - Thank you for a very comfortable night's stay for our group of 7 ladies. Excellent night's sleep and beautiful rooms, and an excellent breakfast before we left xxx
- Jason (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): - Just happy thanks
- Paula (8/5): Comfortable - Parking was easy; would have enjoyed sitting outdoors at garden tables but wet weather.
The room was spacious, with a sloping ceiling and a very comfortable bed and 2-seater sofa by the window. Plenty of room for cases etc Having to climb 2 flights of narrow stairs to get to the top floor. A member of staff kindly carried my case for me.
- Ward (8/5): We will certainly stay there again - Nice , large room and very clean
- Martina (10/5): Positive experience - I stayed one night in this hotel and I recommend it! The staff is kind and friendly and the place is clean and quiet.
The position is very close to the centre.
Positive experience
- Oleksandra (10/5): - Clean, cosy, and welcoming, with friendly staff. Beautifully located by the New Forest, close to a charming village with pubs and restaurants.”
- Michele (8/5): Neat and tidy room. Perfect location. Pleasant staff. Nice breakfast. - Location is great, room size is good a little more attention to cleanliness in areas of bathroom windowsill could be improved. The bathroom extractor fan did not work
- Sarah (9/5): Perfect - Friendly, professional and helpful staff, delicious evening meals and breakfast. Rooms very clean and bed was super comfortable. Very reasonably priced for a dog to stay overnight too, right opposite some beautiful walks. It didn’t bother me but the stairs were steep and narrow so if you struggle with stairs ask for a ground floor room.
- Wright (10/5): Staff super friendly and attentive just lovely feel - Lovely breakfast Nothing
- Amanda (8/5): We felt cared for and the staff are ready to help and friendly. - The staff were very courteous and friendly. The room was lovely - large comfortable and very clean and quite homely. They should change the size of the bed listed as I had been a little worried that it said “double” as we’re used to a king size. The bed was massive - probably super king! And very comfortable. I prefer a buffet breakfast but having said that the full English that we ordered was amazing - very tasty & enough. And as it is the only food you get there is no waste. So it’s a commendable way to do things just a little unusual.
- Phyllis Lloyd (5/5): - A warmer duvet would have been nice- it was very cold at night, and the bathroom was freezing!
- Villa Costa Verde (10/5): -
- Terence (8/5): Excellent and good value for money - Breakfast very good and location brilliant walking distance to Lyndhurst and very welcoming to dogs. Nothing for us. Lovely room and comfortable bed.
- Louise (8/5): We enjoyed a lovely stay thank you - All staff we met were very friendly. Room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast on the three mornings was very good. The dinner we had on our first night was excellent. Would definitely stay there again. Maybe a lamp on both sides of the bed instead of just one side but just a suggestion, not a problem.
- cousins (9/5): -
- Elaine (9/5): Loved our room, would stay again. - Nice friendly, helpful staff. Room was lovely clean and really spacious. Only downside we couldn’t get the spa bath to work.
- Eve (10/5): Perfect stay in Lyndhurst - Food was delicious, very attentive staff, felt very comfortable as a solo traveller. Room was huge with big spa bath, lounge area and even a separate entrance with a small table and chairs outside.
- david (9/5): Great stay - Was large and clean rooms Did not like pre ordering breakfast
- Mergen (10/5): It was our first day in the Uk and we were not disappointed in the least - The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff were warm and helpful. The location was within walking distance from the village. I highly recommend this establishment Nothing
- Rebecca (9/5): Lovely hotel, definitely recommend! - Room was lovely and spacious, so was the bathroom. No bath but nice big shower. Nice to have a smart TV. Friendly front desk. We didn't have dinner but the breakfast was really delicious. Opposite a lovely walk where we saw the New Forest ponies, and a less than 10 min walk into town. We found the shower pressure reduced sometimes (assume maybe as others having a shower?), and thought the bed could have been comfier. Not huge issues though and would still stay again.
- Susan (9/5): Friendly welcome, ideal location and comfortable - The location was excellent an easy walk into Lyndhurst with all its facilities. Bus stops close by if required. The hotel is located opposite the forest with easy access for walking.
Breakfast was pre order with limited choice but well cooked and sufficient, no cereals or pastries not any continental or fruit.
The bedroom which was a superior upgrade and comfortable with a sofa for relaxing. The bathroom looked newly refurbished and towels fluffy and white and a great powerful shower with plenty of hot water. The room was very clean but any cleaning is by guest request not automatic.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome. We celebrated our wedding anniversary which they acknowledged and they put balloons and a banner up in our room plus a complementary post dinner drink.
The hotel is dog friendly which as a dog lover I enjoyed.
I would return to visit again. Steep narrow staircases no lift but the staff offered assistance with our bags if needed.
- Elaine (9/5): Highly recommended - Great location with fantastic staff who were incredibly warm and welcoming. Lovely breakfast. Very dog friendly
Plenty of parking. Great size room. Nothing!
- Matt (9/5): Highly recommended!!! - Located in a very scenic spot with plenty of walks and access within walking distance to the local town. Staff were very friendly and also the hotel is dog friendly.
The place and room were spotless and meals were very tasty and good value for money.
Would stay again and highly recommended.
- sharon (10/5): - Friendly staff and helpful after we left something behind! Very comfortable and large bed. The room had everything we needed. They kindly topped up tea and coffee as soon as we mentioned it. Nice location on the edge of lyndhurst. Would stay again. All great
- Paul (8/5): Evening meal was lovely. Staff was great. - Good. Full English was fine.
- Bethany (10/5): Lovely, pet friendly stay a step away from the new forest - We ate dinner at the hotel, and it was lovely. I had prawn pasta and my husband had curry, both dishes were very tasty and full of flavour.
The room (Deluxe) was spacious, clean and cosy. The bed was large but quite squeaky when moving.
The bathroom was great, the double jet bath was the highlight of the whole stay!
The hotel and staff were pet friendly and our dog was welcome anywhere. The ceilings were slanted as we were on the top floor, so husband (6 ft 1) kept banging his head. But this is something they cannot help of course
Sometimes the hot water to the bathroom was poor or non-existent, but these were generally in peak "getting ready" times.
- Diane (9/5): Very good value would stay again - Lovely location easy to walk into Lyndhurst and the new forest. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing really to say it’s exactly what you’d expect for the rating and price
- robert (10/5): Clean tidy very polite and helpful staff and good facilities - Everything Nothing
- Phil (8/5): -
- STEPHEN (8/5): Enjoyed the stay, good outside areas, very good menu, well prepared, very happy, - Service and staff was very good, menu and food was very good, all very clean, and well maintained Stairs are very narrow , hard work when carrying cases.
- Jocelyn (9/5): Great place to stay - Large comfy room. Nothing
- Michele (3/5): Not as expected - Location was perfect for walking into town and walking the dog No hot water , had a 2 night stay water was only Luke warm by 2nd day needs a good clean and revamp very tired looking hotel
- James (7/5): -
- Philip (10/5): -
- Angus (1/5): I had very little sleep only hour because I was bitten several times, the whole bed was full of mites which I videoed. -
- Mia (8/5): -
- sarah (9/5): - Very helpful staff
Comfy bed
- Debbie (10/5): Lovely staff. Very tasty food. Clean property throughout. - Very clean property. Friendly staff. We made the staff aware of our celebrations for our 40th wedding anniversary and they decorated our breakfast table and our bedroom with banner, rose petals and even towels shaped like swans in a heart shape on our bed Steep stair case to the first floor
- Murali (8/5): Excellent Location and a nice hotel - Overall experience was very good. Location is excellent. Staff were friendly. Room and facilities were very good.
- Philip (9/5): -
- Mobile15166622352 (10/5): Highly recommended - Easy free parking on site. Once inside, a lovely, warm spacious bedroom and well laid out bathroom were ready for us - all spotlessly clean. The staff were attentive, welcoming and friendly and the customer service was first rate. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was good food and very reasonably priced. This is a gem of a little hotel. Great access to Lyndhurst and the forest. We will definitely stay at Ormonde House again.
- Mateo Patricio (9/5): Cozy hotel in Lyndhurst - Clean, well kept and friendly staff. Nothing. We really liked it.
- Janet (10/5): -
- Frenchfay (10/5): Brilliant little hotel. - Two adults , two dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very well run little place . Breakfast was excellent , so was the curry we had one evening. Bar prices very reasonable. We slept really well , room 15 , ground floor , bed massive and really comfy. Staff excellent ! Thankyou .
- rachelgL5431QP (10/5): One night stay, flying visit. - Lovely hotel in a great location for us.
Best thing though...room 6 has the biggest and most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, really didn't want to leave it!
- M38avis (6/5): Desperately in need of sleep - We are both well travelled so our expectations are maybe a little high. This is just constructive feedback from what I can see others have said the same. It's an adequate stay but some improvements need to be made room 19 is below room 20 and the noise coming from above felt like a removal was going on from hour to hour waking and disturbing from late in the evening and then around 6am onwards. The room itself was clean and large as we paid extra for spa bathroom and my only change would be taking away the tired shower dispenser, cheap drink options and replacing hard worn out towels.
Odd to be so particular about ordering food the day before when a packet waffle is given to you, with a blob of yoghurt and some grapes.
Please increase your budget on breakfast the squash is not a good look even with an orange slice in it. The young girl did not ask me how my meal was and having left It I guess she was afraid to ask.
It's a overall welcoming atmosphere should have been a warm experience as I have read on the reviews, I felt like an inconvenience right from the start to the end.
- rosinar2026 (10/5): Wonderful stay - Thank you, Ormonde House Hotel 🖤
Dear Ormonde House,
Thank you for making our stay feel so heartwarming, meaningful, and truly special. We booked to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and the gentleman at reception was incredibly inviting, friendly, and well spoken. Thank you for making us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and for going out of your way to make my partner’s day so memorable — we genuinely appreciate your kindness, service, and effort.
We will most definitely return to this wonderful hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and bright. The paintings and décor on the walls were very fitting, giving a rustic forest feel that blended perfectly with the surrounding area. We were also gifted a beautiful garden view, with natural elements right outside our window, which created such a tranquil, calming, and peaceful atmosphere.
All of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, thoughtfully checking in to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The dining room was a very pleasant space to wind down, with soft background music playing alongside vibrant rustic décor, creating a cosy, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. This, paired with the stunning scenery and peaceful walks available right on the doorstep, made the evening feel incredibly calm and serene.
The breakfast service the following morning was faultless. The food was so fresh and flavourful — I’ve struggled to enjoy a cooked breakfast within my local area, but this was absolutely divine. The morning atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and once again, the staff were so friendly, attentive, and accommodating, always happy to check on guests and ensure everyone was comfortable and enjoying their experience. It was truly wonderful to be greeted in such a warm and pleasant way.
Thank you again to the wonderful gentleman at reception and all of the staff for making our stay so meaningful. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and we truly look forward to staying with you again.
Warmest regards,
Rosina 🖤
- Karen (8/5): Overall a lovely stay - Fantastic Location, quiet hotel, friendly service and fantastic shower The strong smell of food as you enter the hotel and reception
- Trevor (1/5): Bad customer experience ever no hot water excuses!! - No hot water at all heating went of cold room all night no answer on out of hours number Verry bad no hot water excuses saying because everyone using the water same time not at all blaming the customer ! Really poor management and customer service
- Brett (10/5): -
- Trevor (7/5): Good place charge money for guide dog or assistance dog - Location good but food was bland but all good Doors slamming at 6 / 7am could do with something to top it slamming and food have bit more taste to it
- Paul (10/5): - Always a great breakfast, you can chose any combination + always extra coffee tea and toast if required.
- tom (8/5): Yes, I’ll do it again! - Excellent service and location! Very good, but one pub, the food wasn’t very good.
- Sally Anne (8/5): Very enjoyable, and so close to forest and coast - Cooked breakfast excellent, but would have liked a choice of cereal and fresh orange or apple juice as sbove As stated above
- Giovina (8/5): Perfect short stay in a beautiful pocket of the New Forest! - We very much liked the location as it is walking distance to the village centre of Lyndhurst but it’s also literally opposite to a woodland and heathland area with gorgeous walks, views and free roaming horses.
The room was a decent size, the bathroom bigger than expected and the breakfast was very nice.
We liked that there was a separate breakfast room for guests with dogs (like us) and the staff was very friendly. There was nothing we didn’t like to be honest.
- Keira (9/5): -
- Grant (8/5): Staff and food great, room slightly sub standard - Staff were great, breakfast was great too The room and bathroom layout were very tight. TV was playing up, bedroom curtain arrangement not good, no blind in bathroom which was looking onto used fire escape. No shelving in shower. Carpet needs cleaning or replacing.
- Anna (7/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Rob (8/5): -
- Lewis (10/5): -

- Turney (10/5): - Clean , friendly great location
- David (7/5): One of those hotels that's a bit short of being very good but functional, clean and comfortable - Location was good. Room pleasant not spectacular. Didn't eat or drink there so can't comment. No mini fridge in room or water. Common areas could do with a bit of TLC and tidying.
- Julie (10/5): A lovely hotel in a great location - Lovely large warm room. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Breakfast was lovely Nothing to dislike
- John (7/5): -
- JulieK318 (10/5): Lovely hotel in a great location - Stayed here New Year’s Eve with our dogs. Owner and staff so lovely and friendly. Lovely large warm rooms, comfy bed and great shower. Breakfast you have to pre order but that works well as you don’t have to wait and was all lovely. Lyndhurst town only few minutes away with great restaurants and shops
- Janice (10/5): -
- Connector25051005326 (10/5): Great time - Stayed for one night in early December while visiting the New Forest and had a very enjoyable stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, with an exceptionally comfortable bed.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was excellent, and breakfast the following morning was very good, with plenty of choice including everything needed for a full cooked English breakfast.
All the staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay, which added to the overall positive experience. I would happily stay here again.
- 848dhanm (10/5): Lovely stay - What a gem! A beautiful, well-appointed hotel in the heart of the New Forest. We stayed for one night before boarding our cruise in Southampton and couldn’t have chosen better. The staff are wonderful, and the hotel has so much to offer. The restaurant and bar are excellent as well. Highly recommended!
- keri (1/5): Didn’t stay as it was not very nice. - Nothing Heating and hot water was not working in the bathroom. Poor furnishings, dirty worn carpets, shocking entrance, damp smelling, run down. Restaurant closed on Saturday night.
- keriwright (2/5): Don’t book! - Run down, tired poor hotel. Room 14, no heating or hot water in the bathroom and poor heating in the room. Sad looking furniture, felt dirty, smelt damp, didn’t stay! Not recommended. Trying to get a refund!!
