Lovely stoep (porch) outside the rooms. I loved the rusks & the choc. Close to restaurants and supermarkets. Riana and Willem were very sweet and kind. Unfortunately I couldn't get the tv/Netflix to work but I had my tablet so it was ok. Some soap at the basin and in the shower would be great. There was Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Lotion. A hairdryer on hand would be good. My room was a little small but was cosy.

Graham (9/5): It was a very relaxing stay; I loved unwinding by the pool with a cold beer. - The host Willem, was very accommodating, friendly and attended to al my requests. The owners have only just taken over, so there is quite a bit of work to be done on the property. The garden furniture needs replacing. But I'm sure that, given some time, they will make some wonderful improvements.
Liza (4/5): Indicated above - Sadly, very little. The establishment seemed to have had potential, but is now being neglected. Their advertising is outdated and therefore misleading! The location. On arrival we were taken to our rooms to a dark and closed up “Manor House” with plaster falling off the walls. The previous people’s dirty ashtray was still on our outside table, there was no toilet paper in either of our bathrooms and no water nor milk in either of our two fridges (the previous people’s half empty milk jug was left in our one fridge). We therefore asked to see the other rooms which are in the building with the yellow doors and hereafter requested to move there for which we paid the extra costs applicable. This building seemed newer and the rooms were more spacious. We thought we’d be more comfortable, but as time went on we learnt we weren’t. There were no staff members working for our entire stay other than the lady making our beds in the mornings. The pool area and dining/bar area were untidy and dusty and was literally left untouched from the time we arrived on Friday. No-one checked or tidied up anything!! The bottom of the pool was full of sand, the creepy hardly works, so we did not swim. Added to this, the dining/bar areas are one of the only areas of “leisure” and were closed up most of the time so we resorted to going to our rooms! The WiFi does not work properly in the rooms so we also could not watch TV over the streaming services. Everything we needed, we had to ask for. This was certainly not the picture that was painted about this establishment on Bookings and/or on the Ruby Rose website. Our home is run 1000 times better than this business so we decided to depart a day earlier than our planned stay and come home.

Terri (8/5): Loved Ruby Rose and hope one day to have an excuse to stay in their other proper in Limpopo - The look and feel of the accommodation and outdoor area was so charming. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Because of the design of the rooms being under a single non-soundproofed ceiling, guests are able to hear most everything coming from the adjoining rooms.

The owners were very accommodating and pleasant, check in was great. I often have said that if owners just slept in the beds their guest have to sleep in they would experience what we experience as guests. The room was beautiful with a loverly old 4 poster bed but the bed was as hard as a rock and lumpy. I did not sleep comfortably at all the bed creaked every time you tried to turn over. Both my husband and I did not get a good nights rest.

Virginia MacKenny (9/5): Idiosyncratic place with class. - The room was cosy and warm on a cold night. The host was welcoming. The bed was good and comfortable. The host lit the fire for us and sitting next to it in the living room was great. Breakfast was included - good value for money! lovely verandah - and the gardens are being redone. Only t;hat the seating next to the fire was a little too sparse to relax properly. Small groiupings of comfy chairs might be better. The host has just taken over the property so no doubt there will be changes. Otherwise all great.

Preliminary help and assistance not up to standard. Room's dusty and floors dirty. Towels smell of mould (clean but folded up moist left them smelling very unpleasant). Room has not been used in a while so it was dusty. Door lock missing and the establishment did not even seem to know about it. The key given could not even lock the room with our valuables in. It was later resolved with a backup plan. When full parking was a issue as there was not enough.

The only comment on an otherwise perfectly peaceful stay would be to note that the cottages the tin room tends to amplify the sound of birds walking across it and branches brushing across it when windy. Only a problem if you are light sleeper, but my partner was woken a few times.

I didn’t ask so I can’t consider it a negative.

Ana (9/5): Superb - Lovely, spacious rooms with comfy beds and appealing decor, friendly staff and a calm & tranquil environment. Fridges in rooms but no cutlery or napkins if you do choose to store your own food (salads / take-aways) for snacking on later. No food readily available at the guesthouse (has to be booked in advance so doesn't allow for spontaneity).
