Guest Reviews
- David (5/5): Paid top rate and expected very much better. Very disappointing. - In general food was fine ( although no brown bread available for prawn sandwich Friday lunch or for toast Sunday breakfast). Staff were pleasant but very inexperienced. No TV (all rooms) apparently an aerial problem, came on again Saturday night but off again Sunday morning. Wi-Fi dropping out continuously. Apparent mould/damp patch emerging through recently painted wall in room? Badly creaking door hinges on bathroom door created night disturbance - no remedy available to fix. Tea,coffee, water facilities not replenished on 2nd day. Car Park liberally covered with potholes, some dangerously deep. No maintenance staff/resource to deal with issues.
- Keith (7/5): Enjoyable - Room size and location Breakfast off site
- Lesley (5/5): The room was clean, overpriced for what was offered. Staff need to have customer service/hospitality training . The - Lovely breakfast at the Local deli over the road Poor communication from staff in pub or any info in the room. The room was outside in the carpark, had to ask about Wi-Fi, there wasn’t any. Had to ask about breakfast, told over Road in deli at 10.30am, in fairness this was the best element of the stay. On leaving the room at 11.30am , the pub was locked, no where to leave room key. Went into the kitchen and left it with the chef. Had a phone call at 7pm that evening asking where the key was? Told we should have followed instructions and left it in the room door, no information verbal or otherwise. There was a party in the pub, when we returned later in the evening the large carpark was full. We had to park in the village , reserved parking for residents would be an improvement. Thought I was booking a room in a country pub, in reality it was a room in a carpark totally detached from the pub in all elements of the stay
- Martin (10/5): -
- Max (1/5): No very good - Nice area Nearly was out dated
- Chris (5/5): It was an okay stay with a pleasant breakfast served off-site. Underwhelming for £144 a night in November. - Nice big car park. The pub smelled of stale cooking.
- Stacey (10/5): -
- kathryn (4/5): I wouldn’t stay again unfortunately - Location, breakfast was fine The room and bathroom had not been cleaned properly. There was dust, stains on the toilet and hair in the shower. The shower drain seemed blocked.
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Laura (10/5): - Generous and good quality breakfast; well appointed rooms
- elaine (10/5): Overnight trip - Very comfy bed
Great breakfast
- Melanie (8/5): Cosy room and delicious breakfast. - Very friendly staff, nice facilities and an excellent cooked breakfast. Comfortable and cosy. Could do with refreshing in some areas, but nothing major.
- kim (9/5): - Friendly staff, great food, comfortable bed Lack of attention to detail. I was leaving at 6:30 am and was a little annoyed to find that, whilst there was plenty of milk and sugar, there was no coffee or tea in the room. I would still go again- mistakes happen
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- Anne-Marie (8/5): I really enjoyed my one night stay as a solo traveller! - A cosy and comfortable ensuite room, well stocked with a tea/biscuit selection and a coffee machine. The food (I had an evening meal and breakfast in the pub) was tasty and of a good standard. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating.
- valerie (4/5): - Very disappointing, no hot water in bathroom sink no toilet lid no shower curtain or screen so water covered the floor badly had to mop up with towels. Big gap in front door at top .
Stayed two nights and room was not cleaned so hence no clean towels. When we reported no hot water was told use kettle. Room was not cheap either. Breakfast was good and breakfast staff excellent. Would not go back sorry.
- David (7/5): - The bed was very comfortable.
Great tea and coffee making facilities.
Pub was very nice.
Breakfast across the road at the deli (included in the price) was good.
- Peter (9/5): - Checked in later at 8pm, before a pleasant evening meal.
Suprised at the huge bathroom, probably almost the size of the bedroom, with freestanding bath, walk in shower, and double basin. Nice and soft double bed, with plenty of choices of pillows cushions and blankets. Room was spotlessly clean.
Lovely range of breakfast items in the morning. All staff were friendly and welcoming too.
In a convenient location on the A59 to head north into the Yorkshire Dales.

- Fiona (10/5): Great pub to stay at - We stayed at the white bull for 2 nights while attending a wedding locally. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. We had room 6 which was large with a king size bed, very comfortable, the room was largewith a large bathroom. Complementary tea, coffee nespresso machine , hot chocolate, biscuits and still and sparkling water were available in the room. Plenty of storage drawers and wardrobe. Also 2 chairs. The windows were a little tired looking but all furnishings were obviously fairly new and clean. Breakfast was very substantial, with lots of choices, we had cooked breakfasts. Food is available from.lunch time onwards. We ate there one evening and was good.
As we were going to be returning after hiurs we were given thelandjadies number to call and she just let us back in. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you if we're in the area afain we'd definitely return.
- Angela (7/5): Adequate but would not return - Excellent breakfast , friendly staff , great location for occassion Felt as though we had a disabled bathroom , poor quality fitments.
- Susan (7/5): Bathroom too small - Steps to room
- Amanda (8/5): - Really nice room well appointed good coffee! Reception staff, who were really pleasant, just need a wee bit of hospitality training!
Eg where is the room/ when and where is breakfast?/ WiFi connection/ booking for dinner/ how to check out
WiFi was not working in the room.
- Georgina (10/5): - The building is beautiful and perfect for a quintessential English experience. The staff were just wonderful and super helpful and approachable. The rooms were very comfortable and clean.
Breakfast at both the deli across the street and in the pub was lovely.
Excellent stay, would recommend and will stay again,
Thank you!

- Gillian (7/5): Great for walkers or a short stay to see the area - The women working behind the bar and greeting me on arrival were very friendly and happy to help. The one working behind the bar was like superwoman. She was doing everything with a smile while the pub was quite busy. The bed was very clean and comfortable and the towels good quality. Unfortunately, my room had quite a few cobwebs around the lights and the bathroom wasn't fully clean but was usable. Brewing up facilities were provided in the room but didn't cater for those of us needing decaf tea and coffee. I hoped to get a coffee in the bar but the machine had been turned off at 9.30pm.
- Sian (9/5): Spacious B&B - Great little stay for a wedding round the corner! Nice and clean , lovely staff and a great breakfast! Would recommend :) Only thing we would say the rooms can get slightly warm but when you open all the windows you are woken to a noisy air con unit next to the window.
Would definitely recommend a small dressing table with mirror to get ready at as the room is very big and spacious. Maybe a could add if used for weddings! :)
- Nigel (10/5): Excellent value for money stay - It was convenient for us due to its close proximity to the auction mart. Excellent size room with biscuits (always a bonus), bottled water, coffee machine and the usual tea and coffee etc. Our evening meal was amazing and breakfast across the road at the Deli was delicious. Staff were very attentive and on hand to keep the drinks flowing during our meal. Nothing really!!
- Nina (10/5): Twin room - We had a wonderful stay. Annie was super accommodating and helpful. We will be back next year.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (5/5): Brief but expensive for what we got! - Location suited us and there was little traffic thus ensuring a good night's sleep. Staff were friendly and tried to accommodate the fact that we needed to leave before breakfast was served in the Deli across the road. Breakfast was not served until 10am which was far too late for us. They could only offer a sandwich which was delivered to the room at 9.35am after we had rung and then it was two doorsteps of bread each filled with apricot jam. Not what was expected for the price paid. The mattresses, while comfortable, had no mattress protectors on - just a sheet which is not hygenic.
- Linda (9/5): Superb - Clean cosy room, very comfortable bed. Lovely free standing bath. Excellent breakfast! Some traffic noise in the day.
- John (7/5): All pleasant. - Good room. Overlooking a busy main road.
- Helen (4/5): - Shower did not work, no hot water, room not clean. Difficult to contact anyone as pub did not open until 12pm
- Barrow (9/5): Superb - Comfortable room with tea , coffee and biscuits. Spacious bathroom. Clean towels, shower gel, bath and large walk in shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
- Roger (8/5): grateful walker - comfortable room and good shower, delicious breakfast by arrangement with nearby deli. Under new management who seem to have made a good start. Gisburn is a village at a junction of main roads so a good place to travel to and from, but maybe not a romantic destination
- Sueh (9/5): Bank holiday base - The standard double room and spacious bathroom were spacious with all amenities as listed. The room was clean and lovely crisp white bedding. A large, comfortable bed.
The owner had arranged a facility to have breakfast at the deli over the road- beautiful breakfast.
We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food After a busy bank holiday weekend the bar sticks were low on spirits. However the staff were really helpful and friendly.
Price was high as a last minute booking.
- Timothy (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast. Good evening meal despite bank holiday. Location at crossroads very useful. No wifi though a temporary problem
- Elizabethpatricia (9/5): Happy Holiday - The previous tenent had left at very short notice and the new people took over at a few days notice. Despite realising he most probably would not get paid they honoured all bookings already made. We were given a clean comfortable room with a great onsuite bathroom. As they had no breakfast chef appointed yet they had arranged breakfast for us at the nearby Deli at their expense. We ate in the pub most nights and the food was excellent and plentiful, the staff were friendly and helpful. We hope to go back sometime soon. I just wish I could be sure they will receive the money we paid Booking.com when we booked
- Anthony (9/5): V pleasant hotel - staff were great and the veggie breakfast was really nice - Location - staff - the room Nothing really
- Paul (10/5): Wonderful time, will definitely be going back!! - Overall we had a brilliant experience, stayed because of a wedding nearby, hotel was really nice, location was lovely. Staff were brilliant, especially the lady who booked us in and looked after us while we were there, breakfast was really good, and we had an evening meal as well which was very good. No problems at all the staff were very attentive, nothing was to much trouble. Nothing, stay was really good.
- Liam (8/5): Great location, excellent staff - Traditional and excellent staff Nothing
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (10/5): - Nice place. A bit noisy due to functi
- Barbara (10/5): Comfortable and enjoyable. - We were very impressed with the staff as they went out of their way to help us. The facilites were good .The only issue we had was the shower was a bit tight to get in to.We have dogs and they were taken into consideration too. The property was fine. We had no problems.
- Joanne (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kathryn (10/5): Highly recommend! - The hotel was lovely 😍 Check in & out was easy 🤩
Breakfast was great 😁
The staff were great 🎉 Nothing!
If I have to say something it would be that the duvet was too warm for me, a menopausal woman 🤣
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay - I really liked the White Bull. The owner Peter was very accommodating to my wife who is Gluten and Dairy intolerant and didn,t hesitate when we asked him to book a taxi. The room was warm and comfortable.I would highly recommend it as a place to stay which was also very reasonably priced. Nothing
- Daniel (9/5): Great - Close to wedding venue, nice big bathroom, great breakfast
- Gaz (6/5): The overall experience was nice and it’s not a complaint, it’s just advisory - The location was perfect it was clean and the staff was very helpful The bathroom was tiny the toilet didnt flush,
The sky lights don’t have anything too block the light out so at 5 am we was woken up
- Sam (5/5): Anyone around? - The location was great for a local wedding. Bed and pillows were comfortable. No staff were around as the pub didn't open until midday. Breakfast was included, but we were not told it was served over the road, and contact numbers were useless.
Poor quality blinds let light in and green light by the door (which we know is necessary) needed taping up and covering. Otherwise, it was as bright as day in the small cramped room. It's such a shame as £141 is a lot of money for next to no service.
- Jennifer (8/5): Enjoyable stay, fantastic food - Had a fantastic meal in the restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed We'd booked Bed & Breakfast and when we got up in the morning the pub was locked up and nobody around. There was no information in the room to say where we'd to go for breakfast. Fortunately a member of kitchen staff turned up & phoned his boss. We were directed to the local deli for complimentary breakfast which was lovely.
- Jamie (7/5): Very pleasant, slightly overpriced for the room. - The welcome was friendly. Staff were polite and helpful. The bed was comfortable. I had asked for a twin room but we got a double. The room smelt a bit.
- Andrew (1/5): Bad -
- Jez (8/5): Stayed due to going to a wedding nearby, had a meal before going to the wedding which was very goood - Friendly staff.
good food.
- Vicky (4/5): Stayed before and it was fine. Been taken over .disappointing - Location
Tea and coffee in room and a place to leave cycle bikes. No mature staff just casual young people. Only us staying in building all night . Food poor. Black mould in shower.Shoes covered in snail trail in morning.
Double bed very small.
- John (10/5): The staff go out of their way to helpful. Excellent customer service - Nothing was too much trouble. I was arriving late from a days walking. They kept the kitchen open and I had a delightful fish & chips. The room was excellent also
- Rebecca (6/5): Pleasant - The bed was comfy and the room was a good temperature. The room wasn't very clean. Spider webs in the bathroom. Made up Coffee still in the coffee pot. Breakfast wasn't the greatest either. Snotty eggs and a hair on my ham.
- Whaley (7/5): Good - you need curtains on window in door.
got woke up 5am
- William (10/5): - The hotel is recovering post-Covid and in the face of a shortage of key staff, but is managing to workaround. Food and beers excellent, and it is clearly the social centre of the village with the same people dropping in, out and socialising day after day. Bedrooms good, comfortable and well-serviced.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Norma (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (4/5): Not good. - Breakfast was good. Staff were very young, inexperienced, and not very welcoming. Faulty Towers springs to mind. Bathroom was not very clean, top clean but not good enough.
- Eleri (6/5): Pleasant - Comfy bed but too small
Good location Staff attitude, not friendly or helpful.
Toilet didn't flush, TV not working on arrival, room was cold.
Following complaining to the staff, all rectified but considering cost of room, these issues shouldn't have occurred.
Breakfast average
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good - Everything you needed for a one night stay, food was very good 😁 Bathroom a bit the small
- Jon (7/5): Nice place worth a visit - Lovely staff great food and beer Room was cosy but loo in need of attention Green light in bedroom doesn’t help sleep
- Barbara (10/5): - Lovely place to stay. The staff phoned the day before to check if i needed a table reservation for dinner. Friendly and extremely helpful from the moment I arrived until I left. Everything I needed in the room including a bath robe, iron and hair dryer.
Breakfast was really good too.
Would definitely return.
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional - Never have we come such dedicated staff who were so helpful and pleasant. They are an asset to the institution. The room was cozy and clean. The manager was kind enough to give a ride to the nearby venue to avoid being ripped off by the taxi companies. Breakfast was excellent a perfect start to the morning. It was a bit noiser at night but understand the rooms awaiting renovation which would sort it .
- kay (6/5): Not worth over £100 per night - Paid just over £200 for 2 nights B&B.
Milk was not replenished after the 1st night, had to ask for fresh milk when going to bed on the 2nd night.
Ask what time breakfast was on the 2nd morning to be told we had to go to the cafe down the road for it as they don’t do breakfast on a Monday.
Confirmation said check out by 11am, went to check out at 10:45 there was no one on site, we had to leave the key to the room on top of the kitchen delivery.
A lot of cobwebs in the room & the shower leaked in to the bedroom.
- Corbett (8/5): Fine - The staff were very friendly I would like fresh fruit and yogurt for breakfast
- John (10/5): - Lovely hotel, great service from charming staff.
- Anna (9/5): Great - Breakfast was absolutely stunning,
Staff were extremely helpful and lovely.
Room was great The television in the room did not work
- Sl (6/5): Newly re-opened pub with rooms - good food - Located in nice linear English village on Lancs / Yorkshire border. Comfortable beds. Quiet rooms to rear of property. Great pub food. Good English breakfast. Warm welcome. Good location for walking. Lovely countryside. Appears to be dog friendly. Has a beer garden. Recently re-opened following the pandemic so definitely worthy of support. Local bus service - cheap and connects to places of interest like Skipton / Barnoldswick etc. Off road car-parking. Clearly a popular local destination. The main road to the front is very busy.
- Jamie (10/5): Great place great food lovely staff - The room was lovely and cosy,
Breakfast was fabulous
- Jason (8/5): Excellent, really nice and friendly staff… highly recommended - The breakfast was out of this world, amazing 🤩 comfy room and cosy 👍👍 I think the bar would really benefit and be nice with a little snug area, with maybe some comfy sofas, chairs 😊
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Gwyn (4/5): Awful customer service and ultimately very disappointing. - Room was ok, breakfast( at the Deli opposite, not in the White Bull) was very good. Awful customer service. I prefer to stay in local pubs when travelling for work, so as to relax in the evenings. I booked the White Bull some 3 weeks before my stay, despite the price tag, as it looked good and the location was ideal for my trip, with a cancellation deadline. It wasn't, however, until the afternoon of my stay that I was called and told that, actually, the pub wasn't currently open on Monday and Tuesday evenings, and that I needed to call when on my way so that someone could let me in. A cynic might say they waited until after the cancellation cut-off to tell me. When calling to let them know my ETA, I was told that the room had been left open, and, by the way, I would need to go to the deli over the road for breakfast! Arrived, didn't see a soul, had a quiet night working in my room, but I must add that the breakfast at the Deli was very good. If I'd wanted to book into a soulless motel/chain hotel I would have done so. Some training in customer care is called for. Won't bother with this place again.
- Helena (6/5): Great friendly staff but bedrooms need a little more attention to detail. However it has only recently reopened so I hop - The staff were very friendly and helpful despite their youth. The pub was busy with diners but they freed a table for us so that we could have a quick drink before going to eat elsewhere. We stayed overnight at the pub. The room and bathroom were a good size and the location suited us. The bed linen was lovely and fresh as were the towels and dressing gowns.Fantastic breakfast provided at the deli across the road - absolutely excellent. The room hadn’t been cleaned well. There were several dead insects dotted around the bedroom ceiling and cobwebs etc. There appears to be a plumbing issue as the sound of running water kept me awake much of the night until we covered the drainage grill with a dressing gown to mute it! Blinds are needed for the small windows and the front door of the room as light floods in from the car park. There is no bin in the room. These small adjustments would make a huge difference.
- Della (9/5): Good value - Nice friendly staff
- Michael (9/5): Very good. Would come back. - Friendly pub. Great food. Room perfect. Would return. Thanks.
- Kris (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Enjoyed my stay very comfortable
