Glenda and Peter create an atmosphere of fun and tranquility. The pool is the perfect way to start or finish your day, and Peter’s breakfasts are truly second to none! A great location away from all the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa, but just a 10 minute walk or short Tuk Tuk ride to the beach. We thought everything was perfect! If you are thinking of staying in Hikkaduwa The Plantation House is the place to be!

Normally it’s fully booked but due the ‘well thought plan of The Donald to put the whole world in a new crisis’, there were a lot of cancellations. We ended up staying for four nights and it was wonderful. The breakfast really is as good as every other review is portraying, little work of arts! The pool is actually refreshing and clean. Can’t go wrong going here! The aircons can be a bit loud, but when you have decent earplugs it doesn’t bother

• Mark (10/5): - One of the absolute highlights of our journey through Sri Lanka was staying at the Plantation House and having the privilege of meeting its remarkable owners, Peter and Glenda. From the moment we arrived, we felt less like guests and more like friends, warmly welcomed by a team whose care, professionalism, and attention to detail were evident in every interaction. Mornings at the Plantation House were unforgettable. Peter’s breakfasts (and soft jazz) were nothing short of exceptional thoughtfully curated, beautifully presented, and among the finest meals we enjoyed anywhere in the country. They set the tone for each day and quickly became something we genuinely looked forward to. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and impeccably maintained, offering a perfect blend of charm and relaxation. The pool provided a tranquil retreat after busy days exploring, and the property itself felt wonderfully secure, with a dedicated guard on site who was always available to assist with anything we needed. Convenient tuk tuk parking made getting around Hikkaduwa effortless, adding another layer of ease to our stay. The location strikes an ideal balance, close enough to easily access all the amenities and attractions of Hikkaduwa, yet tucked away just far enough to remain peaceful and private. Peter’s decades of experience in the hospitality industry shine through in every detail, making the Plantation House not just a place to stay, but a destination in its own right. Our family fell in love with the property, the people, and Sri Lanka as a whole. We left with full hearts, lasting memories, and a strong desire to return. We would have liked to stay longer in Hikkaduwa and at the Plantation House.

Peter und seine Frau sind positiv interessiert an den Gästen und das Frühstück ist phänomenal. Peter zelebriert die Speisenfolge. Lasst Euch überraschen! Strand und Restaurants ist fußläufig erreichbar alternativ mietet man ein Tuktuk. Uns war die Klimaanlage zu laut. - Nicht negativ gemeint, weil die Unterkunft ist eine 10 von 10.

Ejerne (et ældre par fra England) er enormt søde og hjælpsomme. Værelset lugtede meget fugtigt.
• donna (10/5): Perfect - Wow, what a lovely place. As soon as you come through the gates you enter a beautiful, tranquil, calming space, the garden, pool and surrounding area is truely lovely. The house to is lovely, welcoming, beautifully furnished, open space down stairs. Our room and ensuite were immaculately clean, bright, spacious, welcoming, nicely furnished. The bed was really comfortable, air conditioning and fan were great. The fridge with fresh milk is a really nice touch. There was always plenty of hot water. The balcony is a really good size with comfortable seating. Peter our host was a true gentleman, welcoming, friendly, chatty. He really has a zeal and zest for life and that shows through his interest in his guests and his amazing, delicious breakfasts. Wow what a culinary delight they were. The house is a little way out of the main town, however it is walkable to the beach, restaurants and shops. And there is always a tuk tuk. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and hope to come back. We only booked one night, wish we could have stayed longer x

• Timo (10/5): - WOW!!! It was so freaking beautiful! A large nice garden view from the balcony and a refreshing pool. The room itself was very clean and had everything you need like a hair dryer, hooks in the bathroom, a safe, a small table…. Location was perfect for us because it was so quiet. Notice that it is not directly at the main road and beach though. In the morning we had an exceptional breakfast and even earlier than usual because we had to leave. Thank you!! It is more expensive than other options but with everything we got there it was really worth it!! The owners make you feel very welcome! -

• Alexander (10/5): Perfekter Start unserer Sri Lanka Reise - Hält genau was es verspricht und man fühlt sich sehr gut aufgehoben. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich und sorgen für einen super angenehmen Aufenthalt. Das Frühstück variiert jeden Morgen und schmeckt ausgezeichnet. Es gibt einen TukTuk Service, der jederzeit erreichbar ist.

• Matthew (10/5): An Absolute Gem Not To Be Missed - This property is an absolute little gem - located just inland from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa but within easy walking distance to all of the restaurants, beach etc. A very relaxed atmosphere, beautifully maintained gardens and a very clean swimming pool. Rooms are spacious with all mod cons, ie fridge, kettle etc and the bed was extremely comfortable. Peter is famous for his breakfasts (choice between Sri Lankan and “western”) and they live up to the hype. We cannot recommend Plantation House highly enough - one of our favourite stays in our two month trip of Sri Lanka. We’ll definitely be back!

• Peter (10/5): Our perfect stay - We loved absolutely everything about this property! We felt so welcome and safe! Very bright spacious rooms, very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was super delicious and different every day. Peter is a very very nice person, he was so kind to us. It is located in a quiet place perfect for relaxing but at the same time it is not far from the beach, supermarkets and restaurants. I loved how in every room there is a brochure with a list of restaurants, supermarkets and things to do. If you need a ride, there is a Tuk Tuk driver that they would call for you and he is also a very nice guy and not overpriced. If we come to Sri Lanka again, we would definitely stay here again ❤️ thank you so much for everything! -

It was quiet, cozy, and peaceful, almost like spending summer at your grandmother’s countryside house. At the same time, a nice beach (with surfing available) and cafes are within walking distance, and you can easily reach other places by tuk-tuk if needed. We were allowed to check in a few hours earlier than scheduled, which was very much appreciated. The breakfasts were fantastic, and the host was incredibly welcoming. Peter ist unheimlich freundlich, immer gut zu erreichen und gibt sich allergrößte Mühe einen schönen Aufenthalt zu garantieren. Das Personal ist super zuvorkommend, die Zimmer sind super sauber, das Frühstück ist umwerfend gut und Freizeitangebote wie Yoga (vor Ort) gibt es auch. Our last 2 weeks were spent at Plantation House and this was the highlight of our trip. We were warmly greeted by the lovely Glenda, who owns Plantation House with her charming husband Peter and immediately felt at home in this enchanting oasis of calm. The rooms are bright and stylish, and the sparkling pool and lush grounds form a tropical paradise. Each day Peter and his staff created a different breakfast, blended fresh fruit juice combinations, followed by an amazing dish of locally sourced fruit, sometimes garnished with fresh grated coconut from the garden trees. The main course was always a different choice of both western or Sri Lankan cooked dish, but every one a delicious masterpiece. Thank you both for making our holiday so special, and sharing your lovely home. We will certainly be joining you again!
• Elizabeth (10/5): Wow, what a wonderful place to stay - Today I leave this haven, heaven and idyll in tropical paradise, feeling so rested and relaxed. Plantation House has been so lovingly thought out, to provide all of their guests with the most tranquil place to completely wind down. Staying here has been the highlight of my trip. Glenda and Peter are such kind, talented, vibrant, welcoming hosts and the perfect partnership. I felt immediately embraced in to their stunning home and garden, with open arms and the biggest smiles. The rooms are big, bright and airy perfectly designed for relaxation, with every kind detail aimed at your comfort. After waking from a great nights sleep, I opened my door to the call of a peacock, before being serenaded by Peter with fabulous, indulgent, colourful and really tasty fusion breakfasts served on the veranda. Their Sri Lankan staff are warm, with kind smiles and despite the language barrier, a good sense of humour. The pool is a gorgeously refreshing dip, the garden bursting with colour and framed by coconut trees. Hikkaduwa main town is a flat, pleasant stroll away and a good opportunity to stretch the legs, through the heart of Sri Lankan village life. They both have such natural flair. Some of Peter's fantastic own art adorns the walls, his ambrosial food is to die for and he has great taste in music, to suit every mood. Glenda has such natural style and her warmth, humour and kindness checking in on all of us, which when flying solo, was just lovely. Peter and Glenda’s love of life and Sri Lanka, will have you hooked and definitely wanting to return. Thank you both, so much. Sound from the next room can really travel through the interconnecting doors. Guests, whose family are in Europe for example may understandably want to call them, but because of the time difference it ends up being very late Sri Lankan time. And if they are phoning via a mobile phone on speakerphone.....I was there long enough, that there was a rotation of guests next door to me and this happened with both sets of guests. I mentioned it to Glenda on the first occasion and she was really helpful and understanding and on the second occasion, I mentioned it to the guests directly myself, who immediately kindly apologised. Maybe a polite mention to all guests, about courtesy of noise after 11pm :)

• Stephen (10/5): A wonderful place to stay in Hiddakuwa. - A small boutique place in a quite area close to the main beach area. Well proportioned rooms that are cleaned daily. The hotel owners Peter and Glenda are superb hosts. The breakfast is fantastic, better than a 5 star hotel.
• Dana (10/5): Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka! - This was our favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka! Sadly, we only stayed one night, our last night in Sri Lanka. We wished we had stayed longer! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We arrived early in the day and enjoyed using the pool and the poolside loungers while we waited for our room to be ready. Peter and Glenda are such wonderful hosts. So kind and welcoming. And this was, by far, the best included breakfast we had at any of our accommodations. Highly recommend Plantation House.

The property is situated away from the main road, providing a quiet space, but not too far from the beaches and town when going down there.

We absolutely loved our stay at plantation house. The rooms are huge and very clean. Service is absolutely gorgeous and the people are lovely. The pool is very refreshing and breakfast was our favorite meal. We will definitely come back and stay there again. This is one of the best places we ever stayed and hey after 2 round the world trips this is a really great compliment. Thank you again Peter for everything. There is nothing. Everything was amazing.

Besides that, the place itself is also absolutely stunning, with a beautiful (and clean) pool. The room is spacious, comfortable and has a fantastic shower! We only have good words for this place and would definitely recommend!

• Carolyn (10/5): Perfect haven - A gorgeous spot a little back from the beach (about 1km) but walkable, and easy to get tuktuks. No frills rooms that were delightful. Super friendly hosts who are very familiar with the area and can offer advice and recommendations if needed. The most fabulous breakfast selection each morning, always with variation. Would love to return and totally recommend this spot.
