Guest Reviews
- Donald (10/5): - Leslie Castle has been on our bucket list since 2018. We are thrilled that we were finally able to get there. The Castle and grounds are in immaculate condition. Nicola and John have done a masterful job with keeping the feel of the place authentic to the history. The rooms were incredible. Modernized but still feeling appropriate to the heritage. The meals were likewise excellent. Dinner was a particular highlight after which Nicola expertly entertained us with the history of the Leslie Clan as well as the Leslie Castle. Thanks to Nicola and John for their hospitality. We hope to return soon.
- Tonya (10/5): - What a unique experience!
- Lynne (10/5): - This was not just a castle BnB, this was a real authentic experience back in time. We were warmly welcomed by the Baroness Nicola and her husband and were instantly brought back in time. The Castle was beautifully decorated. We had a very large room with a 4 poster bed and a large bathroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We chosen to have dinner at the castle and would recommend that anyone staying here should do the same. We had a delicious meal served by our host, who was dressed in traditional clothes, at the large dining table beside a lovely fire which added to the ambiance. After dinner, Nicola, now dressed in tartan, shared the history and stories of the castle. It was such a great addition to our stay. We then retired to the drawing room for a whiskey and a tea. it was such a lovely evening, The next morning we had breakfast in what was the old castle's kitchen - a nice touch. We would highly recommend staying at Leslie castle for a unique and wonderful visit.
- Marvel (10/5): - Beautiful countryside. Best host and hostess. Comfortable beds and en suite. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. After dinner history of the Leslie Castle was very interesting.
- jannet (10/5): - Loved the castle experience
- Teri (10/5): - The Leslie Castle is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are so quaint and comfortable. I feel very fortunate we were able to stay here. Highly recommended. Thank you to our hosts for making it a wonderful stay.
- Glenn (8/5): - Quite pricey but nice ‘Castle’ experience.
- Laurel (10/5): - This castle was lovingly remodeled in the 1980s to be as historic as possible yet with modern features (bathrooms, electricity). It’s the real experience and Nicola, the current owner, takes great pride in its history! She also serves a wonderful breakfast in the old kitchen castle. Definitely a lovely experience. Our room was huge and bed was comfortable. You are also surrounded by Leslie history if that clan is your family history roots.
- erica (10/5): Once in a lifetime stay! - Nicola and her husband were a delight to stay with at Leslie Castle (the name “Leslie” has special meaning to me). My mom and I definitely wanted to stay in a castle on our trip and this was a good use of our time and money. The tour and historical talk by Nicola were really helpful and interesting and the food was excellent. There’s not much around, so definitely opt for the dinner on-site. Please book directly with Leslie Castle if you can, also, and avoid these third parties.
- Mayumi (8/5): - Such a nice experience to stay at castle.
Owner explained about the history of castle which was great!

- AllisonL (10/5): - A beautiful castle hotel. Nicola was a gracious hostess. She gave us a lovely history of the area and the castle, which made staying their even more enjoyable. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Great breakfast in the morning. Nice family run place. Would stay again.
- Rodney (10/5): A must do - Awesome experience
Owners make the stay something you will remember for the rest of your life.
- Diana (10/5): Simply Magical! - Amazing views, place, hospitality. We were a group of 6 and enjoyed our stay. We will return!
- Lynn (10/5): Very comfortable. Friendly family. - A little blown away with the amount of work involved to renovate this castle and it looks in keeping with historical era yet was beautiful and comfortable with modern facilities. The family who own and operate the business are very friendly and happily showed us around. Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely spot, warm family reception, good, wholesome food, would highly recommend to others.
- John Alexander (10/5): AstkeLeslie - Lovely place to stay , but above all hospitality of hosts made the difference
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful 16th century castle in the countryside - This was a beautiful castle situated among the hills of the Aberdeen countryside. The owners are very kind and excited to own this castle. They are knowledgeable about the castle and it’s past. Delicious dinner was served complete with sticky pudding with fresh cream. Also wonderful breakfast . Oh and in a castle a bed comfortable for for a king.
- Marc (10/5): A uniquely tremendous experience - If you think you know peace and quiet then think again as this place is spectacular. We stayed for one night at the castle and was greeted by the future baron and baroness (John and Nicola). Two very welcoming, warm people who are fantastic hosts. The room was very clean, perfect temp, spacious and the beds very so comfortable. The views are tremendous and the gardens are lovely. It’s great nowadays you can have a place with no TVs or phone signal (for me) and rely on good old conversation for company. Round the open fire at night was lovely and as per other reviews, Johns cooking is pretty good. Jeremy (Nic and Johns son) is a lovely child and spent the evening with us to chatting away about his school life etc. We will definitely visit again and bring our own children next time to see the fantastic venue. Thank you. Marc and Vanessa.
- Anne (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful stay in this beautifully restored castle! Fascinating history, great hosts, comfortable beds and excellent meals made our stay memorable.Would highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Most Amazing - Our stay was the most beautiful and amazing. It provided an authentic feel of living in a castle, and the hosts provided us with warmth, kindness and good food.
- Anthony (10/5): Fantastic - A great stay with fantastic service. Incredibly comfy bed
- Shawn (10/5): Beautiful scenery, warm hospitality, and a castle - The castle is an incredibly charming base from which to explore the beautiful countryside of Aberdeenshire. The drive in is stunning, as are the views from the castle. When you open the windows in your room and hear the birds chirping, it does feel a bit like a fairytale. John and Nicola were incredible hosts, taking the time to get to know us and tailoring our experience accordingly (including for the vegetarian in our party). They don't have a liquor license, so be sure to bring your own bottle of whiskey to enjoy next to the fire after what will certainly be a delicious dinner.
