Guest Reviews
- Nanette (8/5): - It was a unique environment . The staff and breakfast were friendly and very helpful! The rooms were nothing fancy but very functional and clean!
- Kevin (10/5): Worth a stay - Amazing and unique place with phenomenal hospitality. Highly recommend staying here. Room was very very warm and I couldn’t turn down the radiator. But amazing and so so friendly.
- Mirza (6/5): Ok - Ok for one night, but no air con and a bit basic in terms of accommodation but airfield location is different experience if you need it.
- Didier (10/5): - Un accueil fort agréable.
- Ann (10/5): Loved this spot. - Great spot. We spent the afternoon watching microlights landing and an old plane circling. Brilliant!
The people were great. Breakfast was good. The restaurant was closed when we were there, but we found a great seafood place in the nearby town.
- Mark (10/5): - This is a unique and lovely motel next to a small aerodrome. The staff are very friendly and rooms super neat.
- Peter (10/5): - Great overnight stop after a late afternoon train from Folkestone.
Plenty of free parking on site.
Room are basic but perfectly adequate for a night stop on route to Southern France.
Has a kettle and tea and coffee facilities.
Nice seating area both inside and out for an evening drink.
Had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious and well priced. The bar staff and waitress were attentive and engaging.
Good night sleep before heading off for an early start so cannot comment on the breakfast.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Philip (8/5): - This was fine for a stopover on our way further in to France. The staff were friendly, spoke English. The room was fine for one night, the breakfast was limited to bread, pastries, fruit and yoghurt, which was fine for us.
- Angela (10/5): - Such an unusual hotel. What a wonderfully warm welcome even though we arrived about an hour earlier than the advised check-in time. Beautifully clean rooms. Compact but everything you could possibly need. The only disappointment was the bar and restaurant beong closed on our visit (Monday). Apparently this is the case on Sundays and Mondays although that was not clearly advertised on the site I booked through. Would still highly recommend.
- Jo (8/5): Airport motel - We enjoyed one night here. They fed us upon arriving at 8:30 in the evening, as well, as a basic continental breakfast in the morning. Best yogurt I believe I’ve ever had. Did not notice noisy planes at all. No black out curtains and windows face the rising sun. Enjoyed a morning of a hot air balloon taking off. Nice folks here. Good travel stop.
- Angela (10/5): Highly recommended - My husband, myself and our two dogs had a very one night pleasant stay. We like that we can park directly outside our room which was clean and the bed comfortable. The restaurant serves good food and both the host and the restaurant guy are very friendly.
We have stayed in this hotel previously on our way to Spain and will do so again - highly recommended.
- Nick (10/5): - Ghy
- Janet (10/5): - Accommodation clean but basic
- Michael (8/5): - The room was clean, well equpped with an excellent shower room. View was over the old airfield. Convenient for the restaurant, but unfortunately the range of food and the quality of of food was very disappointing. The breakfast was particulary poor. Would stay there again but exclude breakfast and eat elsewhere.
- Chris (8/5): - Good overnight stop for an early ferry or late arrival in France as it is 1 hour from Calais.
Quirky location on a private airport.
Good staff, clean and bright rooms.
I would stay again.
- Richard (10/5): - Good food in the on site restaurant.
- Claire (8/5): - Convenient stopover en route home. Staff friendly, bed comfy and food delicious
- Alexandra (10/5): A great one night stay with a child. - A great one night stay booked as a stopover to break up a longer journey. So easy to get to from the main highway, parking right outside our room and a very comfortable night stay. We loved the window shutters that helped make the room dark for our little one to sleep. Plenty of room for our travel cot too. The bed was really comfy and we slept so well.
Staff were incredibly welcoming and were fantastic with our little girl. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a lovely meal.
The location next to the airfield was great, we really enjoyed watching a few small planes land and it provided some great child entertainment!

Staff were incredibly welcoming and so good with children. The restaurant was great for an evening meal.
The location next to the airfield was fab to watch a few small planes land and it provided some great child entertainment!
- Frank (10/5): - J AI PASSE UN AGRÉABLE MOMENT LE SITE A ENTIREMENT ETE REFAIT
- David (10/5): - Motel type hotel by aerodrome.
Comfortable warm room, good shower. Tea and coffee in room.
Breakfast and dinner available for guests.
Friendly helpful man on reception
- DAVID (10/5): - Unusual but very good. Great for an overnight stay. Meals excellent Staff professional and friendly
- Penelope (8/5): - It was a lovely, and very quirky place to stay. Overall, very happy with it and our dog was made welcome too!
- Andrew (8/5): - Motel style -
Clean quite and good location
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little gem - Excellent welcome as always, even though we were later than planned, they made food available. Always a pleasure to stay here and fits well with our travel plans.
- Marion (8/5): - No restaurant on Sunday or Monday nights, but did offer alternative restaurants that were open.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Comfortable bed and brilliant shower.
- Jillian (10/5): 4th visit here and will return - Have stayed in this hotel 4 times now and will return. Just a couple of suggestions to improve things a little.
It would be good to have a change of restaurant menu as this seems to stay exactly the same, another vegetarian option other than salad would be a good idea. Extra pillows in the bedroom would also be good. Everything else about the stay was perfect.
- JIM (10/5): - L’aerodrome stands out from the bland corporate chains particularly by way of it’s unique heritage as a working aérodrome. The decor quirkily reflects this heritage in the public areas and the motel style bedrooms. A pleasant surprise, for a French establishment, was the limited vegetarian options for dînner. The serveuse and patron were both helpful and friendly for the English and Dutch visitors. The only surprise was the extra €1.40 tax surcharge not included , but pretty insignificant in relation to all the positives, particularly the comfortable beds.
- Marion (10/5): - Brilliant overnight stay. Loved watching the planes.
- Emma (10/5): Great overnight stop on the way to Calais - We had an overnight stay on the way from the Dordogne Valley to Calais. On arrival we found that our rooms were both doubles although I had booked 2 twin rooms. The hotel manager immediately changed the rooms to twins and added extra Eddy g without any issues. Although there was a language barrier (my French is ok but his English was limited) we managed to communicate ok. We also had a lovely chat venting meal in the restaurant. The food and service was very good. Our continental breakfast in the morning was also very good and fresh bread, pastries with cheese, jam and fruit. Highly recommend for a great comfortable overnight stopover with really good food and service.
- P.J. (10/5): Prima - Lekkage plekken badkamer
Wc water bleef doorlopen
- JEAN (10/5): - Petit Motel charmant.
- Andrea (8/5): A quirky find - Great find for a stop over. We found this while looking for somewhere to stay for one night to break our journey on our way back to the UK. Comfy bed, clean and tidy, good sized room and bathroom with a separate loo. A couple of things that niggled were there was only one pillow each which isn't a deal breaker, it's rather that we prefer two, and there was a drains type smell in the room and bathroom which, after some ventilation and a liberal splosh of scented bleach, soon had things as they should be (in our opinion!). Restaurant is good; it's not going to blow your socks off, but the food was cooked well and the service was good. Be aware, the chap who runs the restaurant doesn't speak English so you're not a French speaker, or happen to stumble across someone staying at the same as you that is, things may get a bit lost in translation! Would stay there again.
- James (10/5): - Very friendly staff and very clean and comfortable rooms.
- Nic (10/5): Excellent overnight stopover - Excellent for an overnight stopover. Very comfortable and clean rooms, friendly service and amazing views of the small aircrafts taking off, flying and landing.
- Christophe (8/5): - Tres bel hotel
Chambre tres agreable
- Jonathan (10/5): - Excellent place to stay, just off the motorway, with good food and welcoming staff,
- Colin (10/5): In Plane view! - Stayed here many times, always excellent, reception food choice bedroom. Spot on for a stopover before/after the eurotunnel only 1 hr away
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very interesting room looking into the aerodrome. Staff are friendly and informative.
- Emma (10/5): Great for a one night stop over - We stayed for an overnight stop en route from uk to Sarlat and it was perfect for that.
The room was clean and ample facilities- nice hot shower and plenty of room.
We also ate in the restaurant at night which was also nice and a good continental breakfast in the morning with fresh bread and pastries.
The staff were lovely and friendly too.
We’ll be staying again next summer for our overnight stop.
- Alice (10/5): Very nice - Light and airy and clean, exactly what we needed after a day of travelling.
- Trevor (10/5): - Very friendly team and amazing view of the aerodrome.
- Vera (10/5): L' Aerodrome very recommendable - L' Aerodrome says it all: the parachutist land in your backyard on the weekend and everything that goes with it. Very nice for a change. For the accomodation: very friendly and accomodating staff. Nice restaurant. Breakfast was basic and good. Good coffee! Rooms were comfortable, quiet with good bed and garden (landing strip) view. Near city center (10 min). Very recommendable.
- Peter (10/5): - We used this as a stop over while on a short road trip. What a find, the room were extremely clean and functional.
There is ample free parking. There are also three electric car charges although we did not use this so cannot comment on the efficiency or price.
The restaurant wasn't opened the night we stayed but the owner Paul Henry contacted us by mobile a few days before to let us know and offered us the option of a surprise two course meal which consisted of fish and vegetables - which was delicious with a desert.
The bar area is quirky and aeroplane related. The staff and locals are very friendly.
Breakfast was included and consisted of hot /cold drinks, yoghurts, cheese, bread, pastries and jams.
Would definitely stay here again - keep up the fantastic work Paul henry.
- Marc (10/5): - Vriendelijk onthaal alles ok.
- John (10/5): - Great hotel ideal as a stop over for going to or from Calais
- Kelly (10/5): Great service and location - Excellent motel. We were able to check in early, the room had a great view of the airfield. Comfy bed, very large, kettle and water supplied. Great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good nights sleep! - Only there for one night as a stopover. Although the restaurant on site was closed really helpful advice from the check in gave us a great choice of places in the nearby villages. Room was super clean, no fuss and comfortable.
- John (8/5): - Very easy to find in dark after a long drive from Birmingham . Car parked right outside room was good. Quiet and easy to sleep on decent bed.
- STEVEN (4/5): Disappointing all round - Not a great experience - reception was not open at the specified time and we had to wait 90 minutes. Then there was an issue with a double-booked room (luckily this was resolved). Dinner was tasty but the menu was very limited and it took over 30 minutes to provide the menu, let alone take the order. Lack of air-conditioning was a disadvantage on a warm night. Breakfast was below average.
- Vola (8/5): - Easy Self check in communicated by text, there is food and drinks and a terrace with a nice view over the airfield where small planes were practicing. Many young locals going there for food and apero
- Ian (10/5): Great motel with a difference - Great location overlooking runway. Arrived late but receptionist welcoming. They had sent us a text about late arrivals but we hadn't turned our phone on so hadn't received it!! The key was in a safebox and they sent us the code. Would thoroughly recommend.
- RR (10/5): - The staff were very friendly ,the room was spotless ,perfectly appointed and the view over the airfield was magic.
Parking by the room too.
Could not fault it.
- Linda (8/5): - Clean comfortable very near to main travel route. Shame restaurant was closed. Breakfast was bought to the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed on a Tuesday night and what wasn't made known to us was that the restaurant is closed on a Tuesday evening. As guests we were offered a single choice menu which was adequate. The rooms were recently decorated, however they were not cleaned thoroughly, with plastic wrappings from the beakers on the bathroom floor and hairs etc left on the tiles in the shower. The dining room floor had not been swept and the entrance lobby was full of dried flower residue, which had not been cleared up after the flower arrangement had been updated.
Breakfast was extremely poor value and very sparse.
The staff on the other hand were very polite and happy and extremely helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and food & the staff are all very friendly. The exterior needs a tidy up and the rooms rather basic, but for the money & location to the ports you can't beat it!
- Nigel (4/5): Lived to tell the tale, just about ! - Freezing , arrived in just 16 degrees and rain for a 2 night stay-breaking the journey from Bordeaux, the room was bleak with no heating whatsoever, had to get straight into bed to get warm (just one lightweight summer quilt) sadly we had hoped to go for a pizza in Abbeyville -shame . Next day was sunny and a bit warmer so went to Abbeyville -nice day -until we got back to room -absolutely freezing again ! I went to reception and complained and was given two extra quilts not really what I had in mind, I thought they might have switched on the heating ! And to add insult to injury to top it all, on departure my wife went in to pay at reception while I loaded car, and was overcharged ! - she didn't realise until looking at receipt 100 miles down the road, too far to go back ! Hotels.com quoted us £152 -total amount. We paid £161. -( 2 x 80 ) + 2 x .50c city tax -total £161. So in summary not only did we have a horrendous 2 night stay -we were overcharged, so different to other stays in Abbeyville , disappointed doesn't begin to describe the experience - avoid at all costs there are some lovely places to stay in this town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were transferred to this hotel as the hotel we had booked was double booked. So pleased with the swap. The staff were very helpful The room was clean and nicely presented. Parked right outside the room. Dinner in the restaurant - great choice and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had the breakfast which was good value for money. We will definitely visit this hotel again.
- Sandi (8/5): Curate’s egg - The place itself is great, but the staff not all great. Despite booking at a hotels.com rate we were charged at the standard rate. We then had a coffee and croissant for which we were charged €40. The coffee being the cold dregs from a thermos.
- Jon (10/5): - From the first time we visited just for a cup of coffee on the journey and ended up staying for lunch this restaurant and motel has been excellent. Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. If you like light aircraft this is the place to go as you can see the runway from the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - As always room standard very good.
Shower luke warm but due to storm problems and staff apologised when reorted this to them.
Location excellent for road networks and very good vfm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Handy for motorway and excellent restaurant with very good rooms.
- Dave (10/5): - What an excellent place to stay. Rooms are immaculate and the grounds are perfect. Just far enough away from Calais Docks! Highly recommend.
- Charles (6/5): Could be better - Beautiful location overlooking Lake Windermere. Very clean and comfortable room. Cooked breakfast poor; brought to you 10-15 minutes after ordering and the bacon was hard, as 'though it had been cooked much earlier and kept warm. Not nice. Same for scrambled egg, which came with very cold (straight from the 'fridge) smoked salmon. 14 choices of teas, yet no choice of coffee, only that which was brought to you, which I thought was insipid. Dinner menu was okay, but same choices day in, day out! Overall, a nice overnight stay, but for longer (we stayed 4 nights) the food needs to be improved.
- Charles (10/5): Ideally placed. - Convenient and quiet location. Clean and comfortable room and bathroom. Excellent restaurant.
- nigel (10/5): Best place I've ever stayed in the Somme, by far ! - Lovely room, very comfortable bed, Fantastic staff, -no negatives whatsoever !
- Keith (8/5): - Restaurant was closed so not able to dine after a long day's drive.Wish this had been in the description of the hotel.
- Pete (10/5): Motel by the aerodrome - Fantastic place to stay. Very interesting watching the planes take off and land. Needed extra pillows which they happily supplied. All in all an excellent place to stay and look forward to another stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic stay at aerodrome - Great setting at aerodrome And staff were really nice and accommodating!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel staff were very welcoming. Rooms are functional but also comfortable and the location is pleasant. We had an excellent evening meal at the hotel and the breakfast seemed good value too. A really useful stopping off point en route to or from Calais.
- Charles (8/5): Disappointing - Very clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. We booked the inclusive dinner and breakfast. Diner was very average, we think it was out of the freezer and into the microwave. The wine was expensive. Breakfast was absolutely minimal, very little choice.
- christopher (10/5): - Excellent pit stop for Calais. Manager worked his socks to good effect, even when full. Some dining room chairs need replacement. Quality of menu and food well above average. An extra chair in our double room would have been helpful.
We would return and recommend to anyone en route.
- Steven (8/5): Quiet, clean, and comfortable - Very clean, quiet, comfortable motel. Tea/coffee and bottled water supplied. Overlooking an aerodrome. Restaurants and shops a mike drive away. Nowhere in walking distance. There is a restaurant/ bar onsite, but didn’t use it. Stayed for 2 comfortable nights. TV was all French channels. No air con, but didn’t need it. Would definitely stay here again.
- Susie (8/5): - although the bed was comfy and the room well equipped - towels and pillows were dreadful. Too small - towels. Pillows - really naff.
- David (10/5): My best stay in Northern France - Quality of the food was magnificent. The patron could not have been more helpful. Very comfortable room. Overall quite superb. Would happily stay there again. Greatr value for money. Great location for 1918 battlefields
