Guest Reviews
- Linda (10/5): We would definitely book to stay here again - This property was very clean, comfortable and tidy. It was equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. The location was difficult to find at first because of the narrow lanes.
- Chandra (10/5): peaceful village setting, with lovely views over hills, approx 4 miles from Bridport , facilities perfect for our stay - Location in a quiet Hamlet , spacious, modern cosy and clean , everything we needed was there .
Very comfy bed, hot shower, pretty decking and garden. No light pollution, no road noise . Nothing.
- judith (10/5): My stay at The Haven exceeded my expectations in every respect I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Dorse - The Haven is spacious, nicely decorated and furnished with a modern feel.
Many thoughtful and considerate extras are provided to make the stay easier and more comfortable
The owners are lovely and couldn’t be more helpful
- Katie (10/5): Comfortable cosy hideaway. - Excellent layout. Very well equipped. Immaculate inside and out.
- sharon (7/5): - Well presented, clean Noise from the main rd when on the verandah
- Stephen (10/5): Brilliant. - The Haven at Halsoms was excellent in every way. Getting in was easy and the impression when you enter is of a smart and spacious appartment. The decor is modern and stylish and looked brand new. The host, who lives next door was friendly and was obviously proud of the work she and her husband had done to produce such a great space. She had also produced a comprehensive guide to the apartment and surrounding area. The location is short drive to the wonderful town of Bridport, the port and beach at West Bay and the whole Jurrassic coastline. One of our best stays ever. We didn't have the time to stay any longer.
- Maureen Lewis (10/5): - Everything, we couldn't fault it No problems
- Andrea (9/5): Restful stay - just what we needed! - Good location to be able to visit Lyme Regis, Bridport and surrounding places. This place has a lovely feel to it and felt cosy. The decor was very restful and a lot of thought had gone into the colour schemes to achieve this. Very comfortable bed and exceptionally clean. There were lots of recommendations in the visitor pack for places to eat/local places of interest. The kitchen was well equipped and instructions were provided for the appliances. . It was a little tricky to find but we phoned Kay, the owner, and got help with the final turning to the property.

Really well appointed and the arrival pack of tea bags, biscuits, jam and chutney with milk in the fridge was really appreciated. Everything you would need was there and the views were amazing.

- Maria Reyes (9/5): Excellent stay - The accommodation was exceptionally clean. Everything worked fine. The Haven was nicely decorated with a bright atmosphere and it was comfortable. Cooking essentials were provided and some extras (jam, chutney and biscuits). Pleasant terrace to relax in after our walks. For a longer stay we would have preferred a washing machine to a dishwasher, but we were aware that there was no washing machine when we booked.
- ian (10/5): had a lovely time in this apartment - easy to find, very clean and well equiped, peaceful very quiet apartment, good views, lovely shower and very nice hosts, excellent WIFI, and parking.plenty of towels including beach towels,a very enjoyable time just my preference but although it is a good quality bed,it is too soft for me. bedroom curtains let in too much lght.but everyone has different requirements ,we would certainly not hesitate to stay here again

The property is stunning, has everything you need and a very warm and cozy. The peaceful location is a short drive from Lyme Regis and 10 mins to a large Morrisons for all your bits and bobs ( there is a local spa 2 mins down the round too)!

The property is ideally situated for visiting west Dorset and east Devon. Nothing

- Chilcompton2 (10/5): Our stay at The Haven at Halsons was the perfect New Year getaway in a beautiful location - The Haven was the perfect New Year getaway location with access to the coast and surrounding beautiful countryside direct from the door - not car required once we arrived.
Kay was a delightful host - helpful and attentive before and during our stay.
The facilities were brilliant - it was great to have compost and food recycling bins for once! And a washing up bowl too!
The whole apartment was warm, clean and comfortable. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy retreat in west Dorset! Not applicable!
- Russ (8/5): Very good -
- Shirley (9/5): Superb - Loved the attention to detail, decor, walk in shower, easy parking.
Bed very comfy
Lovely outdoor space, decking, loungers, table & chairs Kettle needed descaling
Two seat sofa quite uncomfortable ☹️
- Sue (10/5): A lovely place to stay. - Everything perfect, spotlessly clean, hosts very welcoming. Very well equipped property. Nothing, all was perfect.
- Shireen (9/5): Restful, comfortable and what we were hoping for. - The warm welcome from Kay, the excellent location and facilities, and the very informative visitors book all contributed to a lovely restorative midweek break. Nothing
- Steve (9/5): Everything we needed for a relaxing weekend in Dorset. - Whole place was immaculate - it looked exactly as portrayed in the photos. Everything was so new we could have been the first guests!
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Very clean, modern, private and spacious apartment - Very clean and modern decoration. Really nice private property with sun terrace. Everything you needed was in the property. Nothing
- Kate (10/5): Great bolthole with easy access to many beautiful Dorset places - Very good key box, sometimes they are a bit hard to open but this was smooth and easy. Kay and Julian are the perfect hosts. There if you need them but give you full privacy. The property has been carefully designed and laid out. Lots of thoughtful touches from easy composting and disposal of rubbish through to very well equipped cooking facilities, comfortable bed, good quality bed linen and pleasing decor. Nice touch to get some ground coffee, good quality tea and biscuits and all cleaning supplies. Also smart TV so we got the best of Glastonbury in the evenings! The location is excellent for walkers up and onto the coastal path and close to bus stop for easy access to Bridport, West Bay, Lyme Regis and beyond. It was good to leave the car parked up for a few days. Nothing worth thinking about.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Lovely stay - Everything, the apartment is beautiful furnished, everything you need and very clean. The location is great it's very quite but near to areas to visit. Nothing.
- Philip (9/5): Excellent - would like to stay again. Definitely a possibility as Dorset is one of our favourites. - Everything! This is a lovely apartment, very comfortable, spotlessly clean, quality fittings and furniture indoor and out.
Has just about everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
Everything works, heating and hot water excellent and easily controllable by tenant. Everything is in first-class condition and the apartment has a very attractive and tasteful ambience.
Feels like home, just enough decor to feel you have a home but no clutter - perfect. Nothing at all.
- Hubertus (8/5): Lovely place to stay. - The host responded to questions quickly and welcomed us on arrival. Keys in key lock next to door. There was milk in the fridge and tea/coffee and biscuits available. The kitchen was well equipped. Everything was very clean and tidy. Bedroom on first floor was spacious, well sized modern shower cubicle. A pretty cottage style garden, also decking and BBQ available if wanted. Good space to park the car. Overall very attractive and recommended place to stay. Would be even more attractive with EV charger, but there is a fast charger in village 5 mins away.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Superb location to access walks from the door, and bus service. - Lovely apartment, well arranged and spacious. Nicely decorated without fuss and plenty of kitchen equipment to properly self-cater. Excellent shower! Lovely views, and very well located for the Jurassic Coast bus services if you want to go walking. Roomy parking with plenty of space for a biggish car too. Kay the hostess was lovely - checked everything was OK, and was very nice and approachable but not intrusive or fussing. Would very happily stay again. No negatives which can actually be fixed! No pub/shop in walking distance, and the busy A35 can be a bit noisy which was a shame, rather than a negative (even though the property is not directly on the main road but tucked down a pretty lane).
- Miriam (10/5): Wonderful stay and good location for excursions nearby - The place was very clean, cozy and well-maintained. The location was great. We walked from the apartment to the Golden Cap, on to Seatown and back and had a wonderful day out. Very close to lots of interesting places (Charmouth Beach, Lyme Regis, West Bay, Weymouth, Chesil Beach, Portland, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove), Poole, Bournemouth) The noise from the nearby A 35 was not too loud, but constantly audible.
Before the stay, we weren‘t able to change the booking of the dates from 6 to 5 days (as we had to leave one day earlier because of other duties we had to take care of back home) and had to pay for all 6 days. That was a bit disappointing.
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely place, home from home - Perfect base to explore West Dorset, walks from the doorstep. Lovely views especially of Golden Cap.
Comfortable well quipped, light airy, very clean, everything we needed. Everything was good, couldn't fault it.
- Stephen (10/5): Short stay but nice loved to haved stayed longer - Just perfectly situated lovely views plenty of parking very peaceful and quiet yet only a few miles from a town with the all the amenities
The decor of the property was lovely with a homely feel Nothing
- Angela (10/5): Great accommodation in lovely setting. - Very well appointed and equipped. Very comfortable furniture and bed. We didn’t cook but everything you’d need is there. Lovely decor. Very pleasant outdoor space. All good so nothing to say here.
- Susan (9/5): A lovely break away with everything we needed to make it special - Beautifully equipped and furnished to very high standard
- Emma (9/5): Smartly decorated, comfortable house in a great location - The property was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. The location was great and perfect for country and coastal walks directly from the house. Kay was a fantastic host and the personal touches within the property were much appreciated. It was also very well equipped and had parking to accommodate our two cars
- Derek (10/5): Week end away - Place was super clean. Hosts was brilliant and friendly. Location great. Facilities and fixtures all appear new. The wetweather
- Jan (10/5): Very comfortable flat in beautiful countryside - Beautifully presented and very comfortable N/a
- Rochelle (10/5): Perfect - Everything was perfect, Kay you
thought of everything that could possibly be needed during our stay. Quiet, relaxing and perfect location. The Christmas tree and fairy lights were a wonderful touch too. Having to leave was the only thing I can think of that we didn't like, we will definitely recommend to family and friends and book again ourselves.
- Lucyna (9/5): Lovely and attentive hostess - Spaciousness
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (10/5): A great and comfortable place to stay while we unwind from a hectic time. - The cleanliness. Well kept with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The outside patio which we didn’t make full use of as we were out and about every day and the evenings were dark. In the summer it would be brilliant though.
We will definitely stay there again if we are visiting Dorset. We’ve tried hard to think of something but we liked everything.

- Jimmy (9/5): Superb - Lovely property, very clean and comfortable with outdoor patio to sit and relax and enjoy the sun. A clock in the living room would have been good and a shelf in the shower for soap, shampoo, etc.
- Roger (10/5): Perfect place to explore from. - Great welcoming items. Clean and comfortable. Very comfortable bed Beautiful setting - perfectly positioned to visit the area. Nothing!
- David (10/5): Home from home! - Lovely décor, exceptionally well kitted out, we had everything we needed from sharp knives to lovely crockery. Bedroom and bathroom excellently presented, a great walk in wardrobe, all towels provided too. We couldn't fault it. Nothing
- Colin (10/5): A perfectly comfortable stay in a quiet and scenic location - The Haven is in immaculate condition, conveniently located for coastal walks and the A35, but set far back enough from the road to avoid traffic noise. The south-facing terrace is ideal for enjoying the afternoon sun. Perhaps directions before arrival, but I'd worked out the route in advance, so had no trouble finding the place.

- Suzanne (9/5): Nice quiet relaxing weekend. Property very comfy and ideally situated in a quiet village. - Beautiful property well appointed and clean. Would have preferred a bigger bed.
Property was difficult to locate, better instructions required. Sat Nav (postcode) took us up a very narrow and rough track. Needed to phone property host to get directions.
- Hugh (9/5): We had a restful few days in a lovely apartment. - The accommodation was very spacious and very well decorated. Everything we needed was there. Kay, the owner, happened to be gardening when we arrived and handed us the key to the property. This would normally be kept in a key safe just outside the apartment. Nothing!
