Guest Reviews
- VictoriaChi9898 (10/5): Best hotel - In this hotel all is wonderful, the price, the rooms, the location!!!! We enjoyed a lot our stay here!!!The owner is very friendly and helpful!!!! Also the food is very delicious!!!!If we will come back to Dhigurah, we will choose this hotel without hesitation!
- slawomir333 (10/5): Great place on the local island - We spent a week in Dhigurah Retreat Beach and it was amazing. Special thanks to Nahid, who is an exceptional host, very professional and helpful and friendly at the same time. Very good communication with Nahid before and during the stay. He took care about us and organized great snorkling trips and was with us helping to find manta rays and turtles in the water. The place itself is located 20 m from the sea. You have your meals in the shadow under the palm tree with the view to the sea! The room was clean and nice, towels exchanged (beach towels available as well) with very good air conditioning. The meals prepared by the chief were fresh and tasty. Fully recommended
- laisuuuuu (10/5): An amazing experience - I stayed with my family and husband. The rooms were big and spacious, the service was amazing. The owner was very friendly and helpful throughout the whole stay. The beach was right in front of the room. We had all our meals by the beach with the most amazing view. Everything about this place was wonderful. 10/10 recommend for the families traveling to the Maldives’ local islands. I got the full local island experience. Hoping to visit soon again. Loved it!
- mabey5819 (10/5): Dhigurah Retreat Beach: Best place to experience Dhigurah - This is our 2nd time visiting Dhigurah and I stayed for 4 nights with Dhigurah Retreat Beach and it surely has been the best experience with them.
The food was so good and the staff was incredible. Would definitely visit again and would recommend this place for anyone looking for a friendly and welcoming experience.
Nahid (Owner) was incredibly helpful in everyway and so was the other 3 staff. Best experience ever!
- 187terap (2/5): Stay away - unfair owners - We suggest you to stay away from that hotel and their owners! Let me tell you our very bad experience with them. We made a reservation for 3 nights for wrong month, October instead of November. It was a good deal with no refund. We immediately found out our mistake and send them email asking to accept wrong reservation cancelation and accept the right one for November (exact dates!). We contact Agoda at the same time and they tried to call them, but they were unavailable (late evening hour). Next day we got email from Agoda that the hotel doesn't want to accept our cancelation request as they might not be able to sell the rooms anymore. After that we call the hotel and tried to explain that we choose the wrong month and send them email message few minutes after that, but they didn't listen at all. The receptionist was just keep telling us about their cancellation policy. After call we send them new message (email, facebook messenger, viber), because we thought they didn't understand us, but they didn't respond at all! We wanted to come to their place in November, but after that we rather choose other hotel with honest owners. There are many other nice places in Dhigurah. Because this hotel has totally unfair owners which just want to take your money! After that we found a lot of negative reviews about hotel on travel blogs and sites, so we were not the only one having bad experience with them…
- ArinaV57 (10/5): best vacation ever !!!! - My sister and me stayed here for 5 nights and it was the best time ever. Saneeh and his staff are the loveliest and kindest people. The rooms are very clean and beautiful. The breakfast was wonderful, everything you need:) We went snorkeling with Whale Sharks & Manta Rays and weren’t disappointed. One of a lifetime experience! The island is the most beautiful place we‘ve ever seen. Not many tourists, very quite and peaceful, a lot of nature & the beach is incredible. White sand, turquoise water, you can even spot baby sharks! If I return to the Maldives, I would immediately go back to Dhigurah and Dhigurah Retreat Beach. Thank you Saneeh for your generosity, help and kindness. You don’t meet people as him that often. Thank you!!!
- mangarica (10/5): Great team, always taking care of my needs. - I want thanks Mrs Aru, she is patient with me, before I arrive I ask si menu questions and she Gelo always in good mood. After Mr Saneeh welcome me in the pier, helping my with everything, the excursion to Whale Shark was my priority, and done at first try. So happy, but I’d not always like this. I wish you luck!
Breakfast is more than enough, I think this place is good choose for the price. I had the room to the sand road next to recepción, was lovely. The receptionist Teti also very friendly.
Chef also make my egg white omelette.
I was happy too choose this place for me stay at this amazin lical islan, is the most beautiful island I see in Baa and Ari, the bikini beach is without ending and very paradise.
- Alena1205 (10/5): WOW - This is the place to be on Dhigurah - we have been treated like royalty by every single staff member, the location, price and quality of this resort is hard to top. We love it so much that we are extending our stay here! Saneeh has been so kind to us, he took us on a sunset catamaran tour for free, took us snorkeling with whale sharks and manta rays, gave us medicine because one of us got sick and beautiful Theti made us the most amazing soup to unblock the sinuses.
The breakfast btw is also amazing - pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast - anything you’d like!
Thank you for being so amazing everyone and making our stay so memorable!!
- Katja1204 (10/5): Helpful guest house - I booked the guest house for 7 nights for end of October. All the time the staff was very friendly and cooperative and helped me with all my questions. Unfortunatelly some hours before our flight, my son got sick and we couldn`t come. We canceled our stay and even though our cancelation was the same day of our arrival, they returned us all the money. Without complications. Thanks again. See us next time :)
- IntenselyKinetic (2/5): SLAVE LABOR & SHADY MANAGEMENT - STAFFED BY SLAVE LABOR!! THEY HAVEN’T PAID THEIR EMPLOYEES IN MONTHS. It seems to be a common problem in Maldives that they hire employees from neighboring poorer countries and then don’t pay them for months or at the rate promised. I had no idea that was happening at the place I was staying! I will be contacting the Labor Authority Office to report Mr. Riza of 11s Design Construction and Consultancy that owns Dhigurah Retreat Beach.
The building was nicely maintained.
Theti and Rasel were amazing and really made me feel welcome and taken care of. Theti created a beautiful welcome sign out of tiny flowers like they do in her native Indonesia.
The property manager, Saneeh, is in charge of arranging the excursions. I asked for details before I even arrived and was quoted prices higher than I found in Maafushi, and the Maafushi boats come all the way to and from Dhigurah to see the same sea animals. Then I spent three days asking for and being denied opportunities to do activities. The one whale shark excursion I did negotiate to include 7 people I met from a nearby hotel was a complete disaster. Saneeh ignored me the entire time and directed the boat to leave the whale shark area an hour early and we were the only ones to miss seeing it. I had to go find someone in the village with a boat to hire by myself and book an extra day to stay and see a whale shark.
When I tried to pay my bill to leave Saneeh tried to add extra charges and ignored me again as I stood at the desk. I finally told him to get the payment through Booking if he wouldn’t take my money. Then I left to find another room for my extra night. He somehow contacted all the people on the island in that 10 minute walk and told them I didn’t pay so they wouldn’t give me a room. OMG 😱 I wish I had seen the other reviews that said he did the same things to them. He later came and found me and tried to make things right but it was all SUPER shady and I felt like I was being seriously manipulated the entire time.
If you’re looking for trustworthy people, there’s a small guesthouse owned by Dhigurah locals, Mohosin and Fahima, called Dhiveli Experience (dhiveliexperience dot net) They are great generous warm-hearted people that easily made up for my previous bad experiences.
- 1234anthonythony (2/5): I don't reccomend! - - rude staff
- poor breakfast
- unpolite receptionist
It was my worst stay on Malives. I reccomend go to luxury resorts because this kind of places show how poor mentally people are. I dont reccomend.
- Ashwini999 (10/5): Dhigurah Retreat Beach Review - Amazing place with highly cooperative staff. Well maintained rooms. Hardly twenty steps leads to the magnificent beach, serene and calm. Great food and customised as per requirement. Sunset cruise was very beautiful
- 794babyk (10/5): Beautiful Dhigurah Retreat - We had amazing 5days in this beautiful property, comfortable bed, huge bathroom, great amenities and excellent linens. The management is very approachable and accommodating. Sunny the manager, the outstanding chef Pilapitiya from Srilanka who prepared our food every single day, and two ladies who look after us Lyssa the Filipino and Thiti from Indonesia. Thank you so much for looking after us. Good to try Catamaran, not expensive at all and best experience. We spent a day in the sand bar, best beach and good for picnic. I highly recommended Dhigurah Retreat for your get away plan.
- ArtiVisaria (10/5): Best budget hotel to stay in dhigurah island - We had a wonderful stay at this hotel during our holiday on this island.. the rooms are very peaceful, clean, comfortable and spacious with all facilities that u need in budget hotel.. entire hotel team was very helpful from initial booking enquiries to booking or ferries and speedboat, helping us in Male, breakfast was nice and meals were freshly prepared on request according to our choice based on Locally availability of supplies.. the property located right opp to a beautiful n clean beach.. the locals are very friendly and welcoming.. I had a wonderful experience it was way more than what I had expected..
If ur in dhigurah definitely stay here..
- dpeterman77 (10/5): First time in Maldives! - We stayed at the Dhigurah Retreat Beach for 5 nights in October 2018. The cost/night was unbeatable in such a beautiful place. The service was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious and coffee was always available. Very clean. A/C and ans worked great in rooms. Had hot shower water when needed. Super close walking distance to beach. This island is as close to paradise as it gets. The locals all no each other (many are related), and the kids at the school were always smiling and waving. I hoe and pray I will be able to return again soon.
- pbraun33 (10/5): Like home in paradise - I have travelled to a number of places in the world including places at sea, my girlfriend not so much. But for both of us it was likeweise an amazing experience. First of all the personnel in the hotel make you feel at home, always trying to fulfill every guest's wish, planning out your stay with you, generously like friends, not like a business. They help in every need, picked us up at the airport and always organized the bringing and picking up. So our job was just to enjoy. Ismail took us on rides with catamaran. Amazing. Beautiful excursions to sand banks, a MUST. Some excursions were already included in the package, a very good value for the money. We also had half board, no worries about where to have dinner. Hotel location super, 10 meters to the beach. Good, spacious rooms. We had a super deluxe room with a separate entry from the outside.
The island itself is very special, beautiful, long, amazing sandy beach where you can be by yourself even though there is a number of small hotels on the island. But it is very quiet, big enough not to be crowded, good coral reef to see fish of all kinds (also turtles, baby sharks can be seen occasionally).
Also interesting was to see local life in the village on the island, very friendly people, stores, some local small restaurants where you can eat something (sandwich, rice dishes, spagetti), rent a bicycle to explore the island.
In short words, it is a small hotel, very personal, very helpful and friendly staff. You can be by yourself there and enjoy the island completely. They make it possible for you. We felt like visiting friends more than staying in a hotel. We stayed alltogehter for 12 days and will go again whenever possible.
- StefanForceback (10/5): Wonderful stay at Dhigurah Retreat Beach - We stayed 10 nights at Dhigurah Retreat Beach and greatly enjoyed it. The hotel is right next to the stunning beach with just some bushes and palms in between protecting from wind and weather. The manager and staff were very helpful with everything we needed, and did their uttermost to make our stay as comfortable as possible. When our fridge malfunctioned, they checked it and swapped it immediately. Our room was very clean as we arrived and every cleaning during our stay was done thoroughly. Even though we are picky with beds we slept very well here. AC and Wi-Fi also worked well. The manager and some of the staff spoke perfect English while a few struggled with it. Just a 5 min walk down the road is the "town center" with a local restaurant that had great food to a very affordable price, and a few local markets to buy necessities, snacks, water etc.
Contrary to what we read and saw before our visit to Dhigurah the beaches through out the whole island were very clean and well kept. They were cleaned daily. And speaking of the 4 km long beach, it was amazing! It’s not at all crowded and plenty of space to almost feel you’re on your own private island. This might be the closest to paradise we’ve come during our travels. We highly recommend Dhigurah and this hotel.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Super Guesthouse - Idéalement situé, à 2 pas de la plage. Chambre propre.
Personnel acceuillant et disponible. Je recommande sans hésitation.
- christinang89 (8/5): Great service, clean rooms, attentive staff - We stayed 4 nights at this guest house and were pleased that the rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was very attentive and it was a short walk to the tourist beach.
pros
- clean rooms
- spacious rooms
- attentive staff
- affordable price
- short walk to the beach
cons
- hot water in the shower was not very hot at all
- lots of mosquitoes (make sure you apply lots of insect repellent!)
- meals were not very on time.
Overall, I had a decent experience and will return again!
- sdma2018 (10/5): Excellent service - The staff are extremely helpful and very professional. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. We had a lovely stay of two days. One of the best islands we’ve visited so far. Highly recommended!👍👍
- nelei2016 (10/5): 5 star service - We had a pleasant and calm stay when visiting the guesthouse in off-season time. The guys were friendly and attentive, always there for us in case we needed something. They went an extra mile spending first half of the day with us in Male and on the airport island, showing us around while waiting for the speedboat; then they had bought a cake secretly for my birthday that they unluckily forgot to the boat (:D), but they managed to bake another one theirselves:); also they gifted our little one a cute Maldivian suvenier:).
The place itself was just built, nice and modern with few steps to the beach. It looked nicer for me and more private (has only 5 rooms) than TME for example. We also stayed in the resort island for half of the trip, but I must admit it was a great decision to visit that local island! Would definitely recommend that cute guesthouse!**
